Great video. I was never a great singer even in the 80s when I was singing a lot. At 60, my voice really needs any help now. I use Assistant and these tools are great.
You dont have to be a great singer to make good music. Many rock and pop icons weren't necessarily great singers, ( Madonna, Prince, Eric Clapton etc) its about the songs stories melodies and personas.

Super helpful video, thank you for sharing. I have not gotten a chance to go through all the videos on this channel yet, however, something you mentioned in this video stood out. A lot of the videos I have seen have been quick tips and tutorials explaining and showing how to do specific things within Melodyne. Has it been mentioned previously about sharing videos that show it being used in actual settings. For instance, it was mentioned in this video about how Melodyne can be used in a vocal tracking scenario. Would it be possible to see videos in the future that have a focus on the application and use in an actual session? Kind of like standing behind the shoulder of the engineer and watching them work on a project.

Hi Rich, I watched this entire series, and believe it or not, I have a question that I can't find the answer to in the manual or saw anything about it in your tutorials. Why is when when I set the key to say Eb Major (Because I know the song is in Eb) when I transfer the vocal into Melodyne, it changes the key and all the note names on the left side of the screen. Then I have to type in Eb again to change it back. It's kind of a drag, as often I'm only transferring in a section at a time so as the make the window more manageable. Is this simply user error? Or that I missed something in your tutorials or in the manual? Thanks for any information! PS. I use Melodyne 5 Editor

does essential come with note assignment mode? that it'll auto suggest where to put the blobs???
It does come with Note Assignment mode indeed! And you can also tune to a song key and scale, if this is your question.
I have Melodyne ARA… so is that considered essential?
ARA is available in all Melodyne editions, including Melodyne essential. Is that your question?

I don't understand why when I load Melodyne, everything works but the VST page opens in rather small dimensions and does not let me enlarge it and the typical resizing triangle does not appear in the lower right corner.

When Melodyne gets a pitch draw tool like Autotune or repitch, it's game over for those two. The only reason I use the other two is for the pencil draw tool.
I feel like it can't be too difficult to add some vector/bezier tools to the pitch line. It's already displaying and following a pitch line, we just don't have direct access to edit it.
@@orionplaysmusic I beg to differ. They've created a software that can manipulate an audio at a level no other commercially available software can. If you've played with the sound editor within Melodyne, you'd know that. Autotune's pitch draw tool is amazing with very little artifacts but I think Melodyne can step it up.
@@adithyasatheesh127 I'm not sure where we disagree. I've only used Melodyne and it's key to my workflow. I only meant to point out that Melodyne already follows some sort of pitch line (internally), so it seems like it wouldn't be terribly difficult to make that pitch line editable, for example, with a "pencil draw tool".

Ist ganz nett aber ich spreche kein Wort Englisch. Kann doch nicht so schwer sein für jemand aus Deutschland Videos in Deutsch zu produzieren. Ich erwarte ja nicht meine Muttersprache Rumänisch. Ich habe zwar gekauft sogar upgegradet aber ich nutze es nicht. Liegt auch daran, dass Ihr iLook anbietet.
Hallo Daniela. RUclips bietet automatisch übersetzte Untertitel an, die erstaunlich gut funktionieren. Hast du das schon ausprobiert?

@@celemony ich bin nicht ganz aus der Welt. Ich benutze ein Telefon und eine STT Engine und der englische Text muss erst auf Deutsch übersetzt werden und von dort ins Rumänisch. Ich benutze eine Braille. Wie gesagt. Upgrade wenn es in Deutsch erklärt wird. Da funktioniert die Übersetzung einigermaßen.
Beispiel Arturia. Dort habe ich einmal gekauft und nie wieder bis sie ihr Program ins alte Design bringen. Das neue Interface ist für Sehbehinderte eine komplette Zumutung. Upgrade für ein Programm, das ich wegen der englischen Erklärvideos nur 2 mal im Jahr verwende ist dann doch etwas heftig vom Preis.
Hier sind eine Community im Hintergrund und da spricht keiner Englisch. Die betreut mein Mann und erklärt wie es geht. Wir machen hier auch keinen Gesang sondern Sounddesign und Dialog. Zumindest vorwiegend. Und bei den DAWs gehts kreuz und quer. Aber alle verwenden Davinci Resolve auch für Musik. Als Firma sollte man sich da mal Gedanken drüber machen. Immerhin ist Deutsch in Europa, die am meisten gesprochene Muttersprache. Wir haben es mal mit Cubase Pro 11 bekommen und dann an Weihnachten upgegradet. Cubase selbst findet hier gerade mal 10% Einsatz und als wir es nach einem halben Jahr installieren wollten Gabe es da den Hinweis iLok und sowas wegen der Trojaner Eigenschaften wird hier nicht installiert. Nur in einer Sandbox. Mein Mann hat es mit mir mal getestet in der Basisversion. Ich bin auf Mac Catalina oder Debian Linux und VSTs liegen auf einem Server, der halt 1,5 Terabyte RAM mitbringt. Man kann sich halt ein paar Gedanken machen. Steinberg mit seiner alten Dongle Lösung war voll ok. Aber wenn man sich für iLok entscheidet, dann ist das sicherheitstechnisch ein totales NoGo. So etwas deinstalliert mein Mann auch sofort. Ich würde mir mal grundsätzlich Gedanken machen. Wenn’s denn wegen Avid unbedingt eine Protools Version geben muss, können die ja ihre eigene Version haben mit iLok. Ich als Hobby und Privatnutzer habe wegen iLok an gekaufter Software im letzten Jahr weit über 10000.- Euro Verlust gehabt und das muss man erst mal verarbeiten.
@@celemony wegen dem Support… ist der 24 Stunden erreichbar und kann sofort reagieren. Ich arbeite hier mit UnRaid als Unterbau und virtuellen Maschinen und die werden einmal in der Woche platt gemacht. Das bedeutet jedesmal hat die neue Virtuelle Maschine eine andere Kennung. Die Netzwerkanbindung hier ist 40GBe Glasfaser in der privaten Wohnung. Wir stellen gerade die Community um, da ja 2,5 GBe was die Industrie so propagiert für Consumer total überteuert ist und 10GBe insgesamt wesentlich günstiger. Selbst meine Mutter mit fast 70 Jahren hat in Rumänien eine 1000 Mbit Leitung Glasfaser für 29.-€ im Monat symmetrischer Upload und Download
Das stimmt natürlich, für Sehbehinderte ist die Untertitel-Option in RUclips möglicherweise zu umständlich. Vielleicht ist unser Help Center ja die bessere Alternative. Dort gibt es viele Texte, die alle Melodyne-Funktionen erklären und die sicher auch von einem Screenreader vorgelesen werden können. Siehe hier: helpcenter.celemony.com

Oh, so if you suck at singing, don't find something you are good at, just fake by a little digital tweaking . No wonder music is nose diving, no one has the talent. I heard Katie Perry's Auto tune break down live, the horror...the horror! I have heard cats getting run over that sounded better.
Some of the greatest artists sucked at singing, Leonard cohen, bob Dylan or lou Reed were average at best. But we still remember them and not some boring virtuoso.
