  • Here I show you how to upgrade and convert your Maglite to LED for superior performance and efficiency. This is a must "How To" if you own a Maglite!
    I'm upgrading using a 3 Watt 180 Lumen Cree bulb and the difference in output at the end is outstanding!

    I’ve also done this upgrade about five years ago, and still impressed with it now in 2023

    The light that these 3 watt LED upgrades produce is unbelievable!
    I have converted all of my flashlights.
    If only they had been available when I was in law enforcement and EMS.

    Fantastic job brother. You even took the time to show the huge difference in brightness. You've convinced me to at least upgrade to a 180 Lumen for now until I can afford the 2000 Lumen upgrade!

    Very good effort for your first RUclips video. Never be scared to shorten parts that are running a bit long. I'm advising as a film editor

    Another great upgrade is to use a Cady that will hold regular AA batteries....say like energizer lithium....guaranteed not to leak.....are lighter and are easier to find.....or just use regular eneloops that you can recharge.....

    Great video. Clear, concise & informative. Well done, as I would not have thought of lubricating the threads or O-rings for some reason, but that makes perfect, logical sense. Just wanted to say thank you.

    Thank you for this video! Couldn't have done it better myself!
    Nice tip to use vaseline on the O-rings! I admit it! I've forgotten all the sealing, for many years!
    Thank you!

    I know that LED's are practically better in every way. But for some reason, I still prefer the incandescent lamps.

      I used to have a bicycle light called Night Sun. It was awesome. It was an incandescent light from the early 90s. It broke a few years ago so I replaced it with a super bright led light. I enjoy the newer brightness but at times the newer light is so bright it washes out the details in things. (ruts and other obstacles). I've learned to ride with it on lower settings. I'm happy but miss the older yellow light!

      +TheLastPost Vasaline is fine on maglite. The rings are not rubber so are not affected. Maglite recommend vasaline/petroleum jelly.

    What's the rating on the original bulb? I just bought a Makita DML185 and wondering if it's worth upgrading the bulbs. They don't seem to be very powerful.

    • @The_Last_Post
      @The_Last_Post  6 лет назад

      Hi, I just looked at the original bulb and unfortunately there isn’t any markings on it. I think typically any filament bulb will be out performed by most modern LEDs

      There is a brand called DORCY and makes Led bulbs like yours but the led is a clear water 8mm.

    are those bulbs fit flash that use PR2 xenon bulbs?

    • @The_Last_Post
      @The_Last_Post  7 лет назад +1

      The bulbs I replaced and relocated in the tail cap are just the original incandescent bulbs, similar to krypton/xenon bulbs. These new type Cree bulbs are LED based rather than a filament and are much more efficient

      Hi, this video was made some time ago so that particular part number I used might not be on eBay anymore (where I got mine from). However if you are looking to find something similar then just do a search for Cree bulbs for maglights! Hope that helps
