I’ve had two of the Patriot models. They seemed ok, but one had to be sent back to Mossberg right away due to a bad crown and sticky safety. They made me pay shipping, on a new rifle I just bought… was not happy to pay $60 to send back a budget rifle. They had to rebarrel the rifle… after I got it back I sold them both. Had a bad taste from the whole ordeal. I also have two mvp patrol rifles. Both had to be shimmed to get them to reliably function with various AR pattern mags. I don’t want to take a loss so I’m keeping them. Mossberg won’t be getting any more of my money for rifles.
This is what I love about your Chanel, you test everything with a open mind and a clean slate. That is a very nice looking Rifle and I can't wait to see how it shoots.
I've got to have a wood stock on my guns I can't bring myself to love anything in a synthetic stock and I insist on only buying wood stock and they have to have iron sights no iron sights I won't keep it around
There have been some reports of really bad accuracy with recent Mossberg Patriots in 308 Win. Appears they had a few really bad barrels slip through the cracks. Others have been reporting good to excellent accuracy. Let's see what you find. I hope Mossberg, as they and every rifle maker should, replaces barrels or complete rifles for buyers who got a lemon.
A rifle in 7mm PRC is so popular right now, alternative bargain brands are unavailable. I saw this same MPP on sale new online last week for $409 and had to buy it, picking it up today.
Like I told you in Tollivers, I have the 30-06. I've got some fine tuning to do, but when I got to 1 MOA, I left to give others at the range a turn to shoot. Mine prefers the 165 Cor Lokts. That was free handed sighting in, using a bath towel to rest the barrel on holding it like I was going to shoot a deer, not with a lead sled. That's gonna help me dial that little jewel in! I'm looking forward to watching what you can get out of yours and hoping for the best!
Happy to see that you reload. Dad did quite a bit of load development for his rifle smith friend. It might take a while to find that "Best load for_______". It's worth it, though.
Had to send my Mossberg Patriot back. Firing pin wouldn’t work you could see it going forward at very slow speed not even putting a mark on the primer. Love all the videos keep them coming 🇺🇸
I've got an older MVP in .308. It has a short barrel and it shoots great! I'm not able to hunt much anymore but my friend has taken many white tails with it. Always one shot from up close to 300 yards. I live over here in the Sequatchie Valley not far from you. Long shots are rare!! Thanks for your great content!!
I had the 5.56 model. Really liked it. Imo, it's the perfect rifle. But must have had a weak spring because had more light primer strikes than actual bangs. Too bad. A bolt action with irons is awesome.
I bought a patriot for my kid in 6.5 creed. It holds a 1.4in 3 shot group at 100y. It won't win any shooting comps, but it hits every deer in the vitals.
"Budget friendly" rifles are typically just fine for hunting. Unless your ridiculously careful, it's nearly impossible to not get a few scratches on a hunting rifle. And I don't care who you are, if you scratch up a extra fancy Weatherby rifle, it's going to turn your guts inside out. I don't buy guns to sit in a safe and never use them. Firearms are built to be fired. Those extra fancy stocks, beautiful polished blue barrels, and engraving still have a place at the shooting bench.
Have taken many deer with my 308 patriot over the years with a cheap vortex 4x12 diamond back. Confirm zero every fall before hunting season and it has always shot 1moa or better. I always hunt with 150grsoft points with great results with proper shot placement. Wishing I had got the threaded barrel model now that suppresser are more affordable and quicker to get approved.
Just like anything made there is usually good & bad in all of them. You can never please everyone. (Some people think that their brand is the only brand out there) I like what I like but I've never been into brand-bashing. There ARE two brands that I'll never own. I've bought them & they were both junk. (One even came with the wrong parts in it, per the factory!) People like what they like. I DO appreciate your honest, unbiased comparative tests. Thank you for all that you do for YOUR public. (I still wonder where that special-effects music comes from when you reveal a new item! 😂)
I have never fired a bad bolt action, people like that who give guns a bad rap; like high point; should never be listened to, should never have a channel, because they are already biased or paid to be biased to certain guns or gun manufactures. I like this channel, because you're honest and buy the guns with your own money.
I had the mossburge patriot in .308 thing was a nail driver no joke at 100 yards I was shooting nail heads on a board. My friend borrowed it for a deer hunt and I never got it back he fell in love with it and bought it from me. I had the savage axis 2 with the wood stock and a vortex diamond back 6-24x50 in 6.5 creedmoor and It’s my favorite rifle by far
I don't have any experience with a Mossberg rifle but I have owned a Mossberg 500 shotgun since the mid 1970's and that thing has shot thousands of rounds through it. I shot trap for many years and it just always fires. Is it a pretty shotgun? Nope but it is really reliable.
I've got my own 500 loaded up with 00Buck for home defense. I too have had it for decades and even as short as she is, she's taken multitudes of White Wing Dove 🕊
I bought mine with a Coast to Coast labeling in 1981 and had to look up who made it to verify it is a Mossberg 500. It has taken its fair share of pheasants and quail over the years without a hickup. Great guns at a fair price.
I knew it was the Mossberg Patriot, either that or the Remington 783. But with Backfires and then Gavin from Ultimate Reloaders well documented issues with the lemon 🍋 that Jim bought I was leaning towards the Mossberg. If I was to get one it would be the one that you got. I just wish that they would offer some lefties. I’m glad that you have seen an Axis 2 Pro in the stores. As you know I am waiting for one especially a lefty in 350 L to show up somewhere soon.
I have used Mossberg for 59 years, I love their firearms. They have always put meat in the freezer, and never broke my budget. No matter what people say, Mossberg delivers.
@@jadeddragon4254 hope not I had an older 410 500 Turkey and loved it. It felt great looking to get the new one. I will never buy a rifle from them again!
I have that exact rifle. I get decent groups at 100 yards with Winchester 150 gr Power Points. I actually bought it before reading all the negative comments. Glad I did or I might not have bought it, because I'm quite happy with mine.
I own two Patriot Predator models. One in 7mm PRC and one in 6.5 CM. The both shoot sub moa. The PRC with hornady eld-x consistently groups less than 3/4” at 100 yards. I’ve never had an issue with either rifle.
Again great informative video! I do like Mossberg! I owned a Mossberg .22 mag.Model 640d Chuckster bolt action that was built really well and was super accurate!
Remington Rifles are by far the best, especially the oldies but forget about bolt action for hunting in general, (unless your a wide open Blind/stand hunter i guess) but there is no better hunting rifle than the 760,s and 7600's....by far the most comfortable, ergonomic, and the fastest follow up shots, without any manipulation of the Rifle, other than the 740, 742, 7400, ECT.
From either one have you had to send them back for bolt replacement? There is a reason they discontinued the 770. With the 783. Not shitting in you owning 2 and happy to finally after over a decade and 70 returns for customers that someone actually has the holy grail of thier worse made rifle. If they continued that model line they certainly would have been in par with the 700 mark X trigger recalls given time
@@leadhead7338 The pumps are fine but the semi autos are not. There is a reason a lot of gun shops won't take them on trade. Browning sa beats them both.
I have a 770 in .243 and wouldn't sell it for anything. It's an absolute tach driver. The bolt was terrible early on, but after years of use, it's smooth as silk.
@@paulmoss7940 your out of your mind! there is no Browning that even comes close to Remington 760 or 7600, and the 740, 742, 750, 7400... ECT are great guns if you know how to take care of them, some burs develop that catch up the rounds and jam it, but anyone with common sense can figure it out, but i personally know many older men who hunt with them, and have never had a single problem, but Remington over Browning any day the darn week!
That is amazing accuracy for a rifle in that low price range. The problem with these cheap rifles from Mossberg, Savage, Ruger and Remington is the inconsistent quality control. You might get a good one or a bad one, If you get a bad one you have to send it in and wait to get it back to see if they really fired the problem or replaced the rifle. Fine if you want to take that chance, and its the worst case scenario you can sell it or trade it in if the factory does not fix it to your satisfaction. Some people are on a limited budget and can't afford a Tikka, CZ, Howa, Weatherby or Bergara, which are more expensive but better quality. Thanks for another excellent video.
I've got 4 Savage rifles in different calibers and they all shoot fantastic under 1" groups at 100 yards! They are older models between 1990-2003! In fact, they shoot better than my brother's Tikka. Thanks WTW
Had a patriot in .243 win a few years ago. Ended giving it to my brother in law to introduce him to catching deers. It's caught every one the trigger was squeezed on. To me personally the bolt could be better but the stock profile is the most comfortable of any rifle from and brand or or price range that I've ever held.
@@zoeyshoots my wife thinks mine are breeding. Evidently I need to stop keeping M1as together because she didn’t see the difference between barrel length, wood or synthetic stocks. Or National match, etc.
A few years back I lent my middle grandson the money he needed to buy a heavy barrel Mossberg in 308. At the time he was a newly minted Navy Corpsman at Camp Lejeune. He took it to the 100 yard range and shot 7.62 NATO. He E-mailed me a picture of how he did. He shot the worse groups of the day with his new Jar Head buddies. Just over an inch. All his buddies shot under an inch. I think he likes it.
The duality of man, Mossberg shotguns are absolutely famous for being strong, durable, reliable, and affordable. The Mossberg rifles receive nothing, but indifference. The Mossberg pistols are completely unheard of. I've had my Mossberg Patriot for 5 years got the black synt stock and gray cerakote in 30-06, day 1 I threaded the barrel, and now I roll everything from 100gr subsonic plinkers for squirrels to heavy 220gr sluggers for hogs, it does it all. If you hot rod a 150gr to 3,000fps you get real close to 7 Rem Mag performance.
@@NCWoodlandRoamer I personally haven't pushed them that hard, partly because most of my shots here in Southeast Georgia are less than 300 yards. But yeah that Ramshot Hunter, and Big game can get the underrated 30-06 there.
@@linkbond08 Yeah same here, my longest shot ever here in western NC was maybe 150 yards so 3,000 fps out of a 150 is actually way more than I need here. But it’s nice to know what the ‘06 is capable of.
The problem in the Patriots is serious manufacturing inconsistencies. Like gambling. One will be great, one will be complete garbage. I have an old Mossberg 4x4 and will never replace that with a patriot
Same here. Bot ATR in 308. Rolled some ammo and get 1 moa or less. Plenty of game taken with it although I have had several misfires at the moment of truth. Just racked another round and down animal. Could have been bad primers. Or not. But accuracy is there
Bought the same rifle, did have some initial issues with some bolt dragging, after some polishing of the bolt and the bolt guide rails, good to go, shot excellent with factory ammo and my reloads, not totally impressed with the trigger but that’s fixable also but all in all it’s a great low budget hunting rifle , actually shot some really nice groups at 300 yards with reloads, would definitely recommend as a good hunting rifle with a somewhat decent scope
I’ve had 4 of them. .450 bushmaster was a 10/10, 7mm PRC 10/10, 6.5 Creedmoor 10/10, but the .300 win mag was a 1/10 best group it shot was maybe 6” at 100 yards tried several loads
Hey Who Tee Who that's a nice looking 308win deer catching rifle! Can't wait to see the video to see if this rifle will group with the right ammo. You always have to find the right ammo that a rifle likes to eat. That's the secret and alot of people shoot maybe 2 different types of ammo and get bad groups and give up and say that the rifle is crap! And most of the time that's not true. You have to keep trying different loads until you find what your particular rifle will eat! And I already know that's what you plan on doing! 👍WHO TEE WHO!
Many decades ago my Grandfather told me if you buy a cheap item, don’t be surprised if it doesn’t work like you expect. Actually he said if you buy a $5.00 gun, don’t expect a quality gun.
@@glennllewellyn7369 I still use firearms from the late 1800's as well as from the 1940s - 1960s. My son and grandsons always complain that they don't have safeties and it makes them nervous.
I bought a Mossberg MVP Patriot in 223 when they first came out. Can’t remember the year. Mine has the laminate wood stock in Pepper color. It’s really accurate. Even takes P Mags. Looking forward to your shooting video. Geez Adam, I don’t hate em though lol.
I bought the Mossberg Predator like your showing but in 6.5CM. Bought it on sale few years back for under 300. It turned out to be of the best rifles i've owned. It shoots sub 1 MOA with various factory ammos. My son has loved hunting with the gun. He liked it so much, I bought both my kids the patriot youth model. Only complaint on it, wish it had threaded barrel. both youth models shoot 1-1.25" groups with Winchester XP & Hornady SST.
I know it’s a little different rifle but I’ve been a fan of the Mossberg MVP for a long time. I have two of the 308 scout rifles and a 556 patrol and always had great use and accuracy with them. The 308 scout with a Primary Arms 1-6 ACSS scope has been my deer slayer for the last 4 years.
@thelasthuntsmanoutdoors what mags do you run in the 308? My m14 mags started falling out after about 50 rounds. My ar10 10rd mag seems to be staying in fine. Any mag issues with yours?
@@thelasthuntsmanoutdoors i had a 20rd n 10rd m14 mag layin around. Theres a lot of added weight with them. Ive been using the metal ar10 mag. So far so good. I have a “western field” aka Montgomery Ward brand manufactured by Mossberg in the 1970s my granddaddy bought for my dad and it will drive tacks at 300 chambered in 308 win. LOVE THAT GUN!
back in my day everyone would bag on how bad the Remington 710 bolt action rifle i bought one years ago after the recall on them no gun store would let me trade it for another gun or by it off of me great video bro
I was looking for a comment about the Rem. 710 . My 1st deer rifle chambered in 270 bought it in 2004. Other than my uncle adjusting the trigger for me , I've never had an issue , still has the Bushnell 3x9x40 that came on it. Taken Alot of deer with it. I bought one of the mossberg mvp predators in 5.56 that takes ar15 mags years ago. Great little rifle, shoots bug holes, did take a while to break in for feeding well when it was new. Great coyote gun on a budget.
My buddy bought a Kentucky made 770 in .243 for his son a decade or so ago. One of the most accurate rifles he owns. His son has long since graduated to his Grandad's old M70 30/06. He has gotten to where he shoots the lil' 770 a lot himself these days.
@@AverageHouseHusband same, have had a 770 in .300wm for about a decade and it's a tack driver, but I can understand why people hate it. It's a cheap rifle, and it isn't very strong or repairable.
I have that exact same 308! It's been a great deer gun and very accurate. I topped it off with a vortex scope. it shoots 150grain Winchester bullets very well
I borrowed a Mossberg 7mm Rem Mag from my friend years ago and no matter what ammo I fed it I couldn't get it to group under 2 1/2" @ 100 yards so I promptly gave it back. All three Savage 110's that I've owned have been fantastic.
Shot one several years' ago at a long-range demo day - in .308. The guy was demoing Trijicon rifle scopes. I had no trouble hitting the 600-yd plate, FWIW.
I've mentioned my story on several channels. I have seen multiple poor shooting patriots. I purchased a 300 win mag patriot with the fluted barrel/bolt. It spent more time at mossberg the first 2 year than it did in my safe. After the second trip the supposedly replaced the barrels. I have shot about every factory load and many variations of hand loads. It consistently shot 2 good rounds say 1/2" @ 100yards. Rounds 3-5 got completely out of reality 8-15" pattern. After all the trips back without a satisfactory result I did similar to the guys at ultimate reloader. I swapped it into a chassis, trued up the action which was about .003 out and swapped on a midgrade barrel. It now shoots amazing but the only thing left of the original rifle is the action. As a side note I either own or hunt with guys that shoot almost everything else in this class of gun the only one that was close was the tc compass. My buddy sent it back once and it now shoots fine. All that said if you are like the average shooter that will never take a shot over 150-200yards you will probably be fine. It's not hard to be within minute of deer at that distance. With modern manufacturing I simply expect better especially when everyone else in the class does better
Ive had great success printing .308 with Norma White Tail in both of my rifles surprisingly. Didnt even know it was considered "budget" ammo until I was on a forum on day. Doesnt shoot budget to me 😅, and it's now put 3 deer and a hog in the freezer
I have 2 Patriot night train's .308 &.300WM both are .8-9moa factory ammo & .4-.5moa with hand loads. I did the shoot one clean, shoot two clean.etc.etc. route with them.
Great video and a discussion starter :) My first long range rifle in 308 was a cheap Mossberg MVP LR. It had more than respectable accuracy, I was shooting matches out at 100 yards with handloads. I have video proof of that. A couple of things bugged me: I did not like the wobbly bolt even when it was closed and a glitchy trigger with safety blade. Maybe it was just my rifle. Other than that, it would not hesitate to make it my main bush rifle
I have a 5.56 MVP. It has shot well. But it had bolt and magwell problems. The magwell fix was a $100 fix and the bolt was just figuring what it was and some filing work. But that should not have been with a new firearm. Thanks for the video.
I have a Mossberg MVP patrol 308 and I really like it ! This rifle is built stout! It always shoots great! I have a high capacity magazine for it that holds 20 rounds!😎
I have four bolt action rifles and that exact rifle is the one that usually goes to the blind with me when hunting. The other three are all way more expensive but they all shoot about the same and the Mossberg fits me better than any of them. The Mossberg only likes two factory loads. I have tried almost every brand and it shoots Norma Whitetail and Hornady Whitetail in 150 grain soft point better than the rest. Weird thing is all my other rifles are just as picky about specific brands and loads as well. Do the work and find out what your specific rifle likes before giving up on it. If it doesn’t like any of them, get rid of it no matter what brand it is or how much it cost because “only accurate rifles are interesting!”.
This reminds me, I had bought a Mossberg 4x4 in .25-06 at a discount from a shop that was going out of business. I need to get that out and see what it can do.
I had an MVP Patrol. It was a little rough to operate but otherwise it was an absolutely serviceable rifle. I would recommend it honestly. The reason I let go of mine was I wanted something with a little more power and left handed.
I've gotten the 300 win mag. Works great, only complaint I had was the cheap stock, so I put on a Boyd's spike camp that was on sale. I don't shoot it much since each case takes like a pound of powder and it's for hunting, but makes holes where I want them with complete reliability. A lot of folks seem to have had QC issues, but I just assume they had a moron on the line for a bit who happily wasn't there when mine was made. I use copper so I single load since they're so long, but whatever.
I have the Mossberg ATR 100 Model in 270 Win and it has been a great rifle! No problems with it. Hope this Mossy you picked up is just as true. Made in the USA 🇺🇸.
Hey this is larry,I live in Alabama and was watching one of your videos about you going on a hunt soon and about shot placement.I bought a tree lounge deer stand many years ago and video tape was in it.I sit down and watched it and never seen no one drop a deer that fast and never took one step.I slowed the video down and watched it and seen the shot placement.I seen the bullet hit between the top of the shoulder blade and the spine. On my next hunt i tried that shot placement and WOW! It droped and did not take one step and never messed the meat up. Same size hole going in as it was going out very small. The bullet cuts the main artery to the heart and paralyzes the spine. Ever since then shooting anything there drops exactly where is it.
I was and FFL and sold lots of this gun in all calibers! Great rifle for the money and out of the box accurate. I myself have 2 of them. 308 and 5.56 in the predator 😊
Had one that would shoot sub 1/2 moa. Because of that bought another one. That one was the most inaccurate rifle I ever bought. If you get an accurate one consider yourself blessed. It's not that they can't build an accurate gun. There have just been too many of them that shot terrible that you just can't feel good about taking a chance and buying one. Even though they are cheap that's still a lot of money for a gun that might not give even acceptable hunting accuracy. Until Mossberg gets their act together and consistently builds an accurate rifle I will never buy another one.
@@northernoutdooradventures3883 The bad one was a 7mm08 Patriot with a 22 inch cerakoted barrel. The good one was a 6.5 Creedmoor Super Bantam Patriot with a 20 inch barrel.
I hear it's hit or miss on the Mossberg, especially the 308 Winchester. I bought a used Mossberg 30.06 with a newer Redfield scope on it a couple years ago, I don't remember what model. I gave it to my brother because, I got a Interarms Mark X in 30.06 with a Leopold Scope on it.
I had a .308 Mossberg Patriot. The first three years, it shot fine. Then it wouldn't hold a group. Changed scopes, torqued everything to spec, sighted it in, shot something else for half an hour, then it wouldn't group again. Sighted it in again, and I'd get 2 good, 1 flyer, Then 1 good, 2 flyers, then all three all over the place. Traded it with some other lower-end firearms I had for a Bergara B-14.
The two mail mail order supply houses i use seem to be having a running price battle on Browning Xbolt max long range in 270. Ordered up mine for 525$...its the Shot Show model, so no barrel fluting and the muzzle brake is not included. Hard to argue with half price.
I bought a brand new Browning Cenergy first shot on bottom barrel it would not auto eject, sent it back to browning and they fixed it with out any problems and it works just fine. It doesn’t matter who makes the gun stuff can go wrong 😑, I’ve seen lots of videos on them Mossberg rifles good and bad, hell I’d buy one! But really how often do you shoot a rifle compared to a shotgun I shoot trap I put a lot of rounds through them shotguns I’d get a Mossberg I like them. Also, them are some pretty good groups. You’d be bringing home a deer!
If you don't mind ordering, Buds Guns have the new Savage pro's. I have two mossberg rifles and posted videos on both. They both did well once I found ammo they liked. 1 in 6.5 prc and 1 in 7prc.
Just my opinion if your in that budget range for a hunting rifle just go with the savage trail hunter or the ruger American gen2. Haven’t seen a bad thing said about either of those 2 rifles but the mossberg hasn’t had a consistent reputation with their rifles. I love their shotguns though!
I didn’t have a good experience with the one I had. It was a 3-4 moa rifle and I even spent about 200 smackers trying to find an ammo it would shoot well. The best I could get out of it was around 2-2.5 moa with s&b of all things. The 165 grain copper hunting ammunition from them. Mine was not fun. Hopefully they have improved their quality control because I love their shotguns
I think the problem is Adam is people don’t want to test out ammo and Fire Arms. You were the only guy that I know on RUclips that actually would do a video of what the gun shoots the best !
Figured it would be the Patriot...but not because I've had experience with them...but because of what you said about RUclipsrs dogging them.............though it's been a good while since those were out. Interesting to see how it performs for you.
I have one of those in 6.5 CM and it shoots fine both suppressed and unsuppressed. I don’t much care for the brown stock or mag, might look at replacing.
Unless something has changed since I bought my Patriot .308, the design is horrible. It uses a plastic insert to mate the action to the stock that is well known to crack if over torqued. If you own one of these, a torque driver or fix-it stick is necessary to make sure you don’t over torque the action screws, which can really affect accuracy. You could have the whole setup pillar bedded or DIY it but is it worth it? Just buy a Ruger, Savage or Remington if you want a budget .308 for dropping deer.
I am looking forward to the results. Lots of people have had accuracy issues. Maybe it was a barrel manufacturing issue like ultimate reloader, and they fixed it
I had the exact one you just bought. Shot ok but I traded in for something different. Crazy creepy trigger , awful stock and the sloppiest bolt on the market in my book. Much better options out there in the same budget range. Ruger American , Savage Axis , Weatherby Vanguard, The Weatherby Vanguard Obsidian is an awesome rifle for a tad over 500 beans. I would like to see a video and your opinion on that
I’ve had two of the Patriot models. They seemed ok, but one had to be sent back to Mossberg right away due to a bad crown and sticky safety.
A scratched Sako is still a Sako.
I’ll let you borrow mine!
Australia
To me, patina and scratches are character.
I never could stand high gloss finish on a rifle. The ultimate in cheesy.
Fancy rifles like weatherby and mauser 98 are not for quarry. It's for the next guy.
Firearms are built to be fired …Well, yeah. And many are desirable collectibles.
(Some people think that their brand is the only brand out there)
I like what I like but I've never been into brand-bashing. 😂)
You don’t need to spend big to get a shooter. No flies on those groups. Thanks for sharing!
I have never fired a bad bolt action, people like that who give guns a bad rap; like high point; should never be listened to, should never have a channel, because they are already biased or paid to be biased to certain guns or gun manufactures. I like this channel, because you're honest and buy the guns with your own money.
Hi-Point is god awful ugly but I heard they are decent. The get what you pay for factor.
I have a mossberg patriot with the wood stock in 450 bushmaster, and it's a stud. Great rifle in my experience

I have that exact rifle. I get decent groups at 100 yards with Winchester 150 gr Power Points. I actually bought it before reading all the negative comments. Glad I did or I might not have bought it, because I'm quite happy with mine.
I think it's one of those guns where you either get a decent one, or you get a lemon, sounds like you got a good one.
I owned a Mossberg .22 mag.Model 640d
Chuckster bolt action that was built really well and was super accurate!
Remington 770 was once the most hated. I own 2 , 308 , 300wm. Both shoot half moa with my reloads

"Yeah, I'll lose it when i set it down in the woods." Some nice features on that rifle.
Savage has always made a good rifle.
I think I would usually choose a savage first
Wish they would make the 99 again
Thanks WTW
The savage prior to the axis models are very good rifles. I have had several that shot 1/2moa

150s can go up to 3,100+ in the 30-06 depending on the particular rifle and powder. That makes a really good load!
@@NCWoodlandRoamer I personally haven't pushed them that hard, partly because most of my shots here in Southeast Georgia are less than 300 yards.

Yikes
For whatever reason the 308 diameter barrels suck
Hey Who Tee Who that's a nice looking 308win deer catching rifle! Can't wait to see the video to see if this rifle will group with the right ammo. You always have to find the right ammo that a rifle likes to eat. That's the secret and alot of people shoot maybe 2 different types of ammo and get bad groups and give up and say that the rifle is crap! And most of the time that's not true. You have to keep trying different loads until you find what your particular rifle will eat! And I already know that's what you plan on doing! 👍WHO TEE WHO!

I borrowed a Mossberg 7mm Rem Mag from my friend years ago and no matter what ammo I fed it I couldn't get it to group under 2 1/2" @ 100 yards so I promptly gave it back. All three Savage 110's that I've owned have been fantastic.
Looks like a pretty nice rifle for the bucks going now to look for you sighting it in.
I've had them in 6.5prc, and 7mm-08 never had any issues. Always accurate, and the triggers are pretty darn good, especially for a "budget" rifle.
Great video. I loved mine and wish I hadn’t traded it. It was extremely accurate and not ammo picky.
Shot one several years' ago at a long-range demo day - in .308. The guy was demoing Trijicon rifle scopes. I had no trouble hitting the 600-yd plate, FWIW.
Looking forward to those groups! Would love one of these in 243 Win if it groups worth a darn!
The compass i got had a terrible firing pin..and to clean it and polish it and to this day dont trust it..light primer strikes
I have that exact model in 243. I hated the trigger but I ended up getting a MTD stock and a timney 2lb trigger and I love it now
Great video and a discussion starter :) My first long range rifle in 308 was a cheap Mossberg MVP LR.
I own a Mossberg 30 06 Patriot bolt action, and it's awesome. Have had it for years, always been great. 🤘🤠🤘
Good to hear
I have the same rifle, and mine loves the Federal Power- Shok 150 grain in 308
I was expecting a Mosin-Nagant.
M14?
I was expecting the Remington 710/770
I have a 5.56 MVP. It has shot well. But it had bolt and magwell problems. The magwell fix was a $100 fix and the bolt was just figuring what it was and some filing work. But that should not have been with a new firearm. Thanks for the video.
I have a Mossberg MVP patrol 308 and I really like it ! This rifle is built stout! It always shoots great! I have a high capacity magazine for it that holds 20 rounds!😎
I have been tempted to pick one up, for years now. Glad you did this vid!
Had a Mossberg maverick 88 In 12 gauge, it was my squirrel catching gun for years. 😊
Aw man! I own two Patriots. Both came with scopes and walnut stocks, one is .270 and the other is .308. Zero complaints with either.

When you buy cheap rifles sometimes you get a good one and sometimes you get a bad one.

Awesome
Had one that would shoot sub 1/2 moa. Because of that bought another one. That one was the most inaccurate rifle I ever bought. If you get an accurate one consider yourself blessed. It's not that they can't build an accurate gun. There have just been too many of them that shot terrible that you just can't feel good about taking a chance and buying one. Even though they are cheap that's still a lot of money for a gun that might not give even acceptable hunting accuracy. Until Mossberg gets their act together and consistently builds an accurate rifle I will never buy another one.
Was the bad one 308?
Hopefully they have improved their quality control because I love their shotguns
lol I called it when I seen the title I knew what you bought. I am glad it's 308 though so majority of us can relate with that.
I think the problem is Adam is people don’t want to test out ammo and Fire Arms. You were the only guy that I know on RUclips that actually would do a video of what the gun shoots the best !
I spend a fortune doing the tests
Have a patriot w wood stock in 30-06, can't complain, also had one in 270 wasn't bad...
Bad experience with Mossberg's. Even with the replacement. Traded it for something else. I like my 590 A1 shotgun but beyond that I won't own one.
Was it 308?
@@northernoutdooradventures3883 Yes, it was.
I would like to see a video and your opinion on that
I like their 500 and 590 series shottys.
