I agree, it trivializes their talent..I've always shook my head at the comparison. Interpol can and has made their mark on the music community w/o the shadow of Joy Division haunting them. :D
similar melody with So Young from Suede, especially the intro. Paul Banks writes so good, NYU Literature I think. Thanks for putting the song here, video has a nice style
Precipitate EP OR FUKd ID # 3 EP Track listing "Precipitate" -- 5:35 "Song Seven" -- 4:41 "PDA" -- 5:35 "A Time To Be So Small" -- 5:45 (recorded for antics album..different version) The EP was limited to 500 copies. The EP was sold a year before Interpol's critically acclaimed album Turn On The Bright Lights was released. On November 15, 2007 the EP was sold for an amount of $543.55. this is before they signed onto Matador i'm pretty sure good luck and your welcome!
@ihave2 Theres an Interpol unofficial bootleg album called Unknown Pleasures, and precipitate is on it, a live version from the fukd i.d. #3 ep. Cheers
most of they're songs talk about leaving somewhere not going back, missing people hes leaving behind. "never see a finer ship in your life, never recieve a better tip in your life" They know something, They have a deal. with someone. They will go, when we will stay. The knowing is what drove carlos insane.
Their lyrics literally mean nothing. Example: "My best friend's a butcher he has sixteen knives". "We spies, we slow hands, put the weights all around yourself". Meaningless, but brilliant.Stop looking for hidden subtext and enjoy the music.
takes me back to when i had the most beautiful down to earth girl at my wits and i absolutely fucked it up because i couldn't express how enthralled i was to have her by my side. the memory of her blushing ambition is what hurts the most.
Found it! It's from EARLASH interview with Paul Banks and Carlos Dengler made by Shannon Connolly on 1.10.2003. The bad news is that it's really hard to find this text. There is one copy here: myindierockinterviews.blogspot. com/2007/08/interpol-interview-with-carlos-d-and.html but it seems that this blog has restricted access.
Sorry, I've read it a long time ago and can't find it now, plus it has been only a translation in Polish. I remember it has been made after TOTBL but before Antics and the interviewer asked Paul "So, how is your next album going to be?" and he said something like "Horrible. There will be only few good songs on it, the rest will just fill the space". ;) I don't know if he was just sarcastic or honest.
beeen bad but saturn makes your mind break in pieces been bad so you cannt find the direction but it will be around .....DUDE its interpol just enjoy it
Brilliant song. I actually think the live version at the Route du Rock is better... even if this is the recorded one, the vocals are still a little drowned out.
No this song has deep occult meaning. Much of interpols music goes so far above others heads. But i know exactly what they are talking about. To be blunt. They work for lumens.
@JohnnyCagePro not to be "that guy" but i feel like, in this song, it's equally paul's fault in the relationship, "i'm still enjoying this that's why i made a mess". stella, i believe, was a prostitute. rosemary is loosely based off of the serial killer Rosemary West. i don't think paul has ever named a girl that's been dear to him. but in the end, i agree with what you're saying...
+Ben Doesentlikeyou Being in a hugely successful band is enough to drive anyone insane. Drugs, touring, screwed up relationships with bandmates, nobody can deal with that for ten years straight without being affected by it in some way. Don't think the occult was involved.
Interpol is definitely influenced by joy division, both vocally and instrumentally, but avid fans of both bands know that their music differs in tone and composition. On a first listen and on a superficial level you could say Interpol ripped of joy division but the fact of the matter is that they're an stylistic influence.
My favourite Interpol song, their performance of this at La Route du Rock is perfection.
Songs like this are not easy to find
I've listened to Interpol for years and this song still blows me away.. Such a melodic baritone that's hypnotizing
I agree, it trivializes their talent..I've always shook my head at the comparison. Interpol can and has made their mark on the music community w/o the shadow of Joy Division haunting them. :D
I first heard this song years ago, and it still speaks to me somehow. The tempo, the lyrics. This and the new. Amazing. Always.
Wow. This is memories right here. It puts me in such a different place and I can't tell if that makes me happy or sad... but I love it!
daphne, stella, rosemary, god bless those girls who made so much hurt to this wonderful man so he could find inspiration for this sublime music.
0:01 to 0:30 is such a brilliant intro, better than PDA I think.
thanks for the feedback & your welcome! its a nice treat to find songs from interpol that are under the radar.
thanks for this! i've been looking for this recorded version for sooo long. and cheers for putting the lyrics up!
Have so many favorites but this one gets me moving more!
Thanks for uploading this - what an incredible song - appreciate the attentiveness to the lyrics too! Paul is so wise... :)
Takes you on a journey, haven't found another band that does it this well.
I remember when I first heard this song. I've always loved it. As every other interpol song.
I'm the only one that knows Interpol exists at my school :(
Anyway I love this song!
i love paul's voice it reminds me of ian curtis's voice which i quite enjoy too
this is evergreen ;)
I remember an interview in which Paul said it's their worst song.
Great Song
Nice Work
its still amazing
similar melody with So Young from Suede, especially the intro. Paul Banks writes so good, NYU Literature I think. Thanks for putting the song here, video has a nice style
okay just sayin, Interpol is the best band ever. Heart = exploddddde !

Great song. I always seem to find their non album songs to be awesome, even though this one is on the TOTBL anniversary
@ihave2 Theres an Interpol unofficial bootleg album called Unknown Pleasures, and precipitate is on it, a live version from the fukd i.d. #3 ep.

Just because YOU don't like it doesn't make it their WORST song.
I am a huge fan too. every song can't win everyone over.

+Ben Doesentlikeyou you are a sad pathetic paranoid person.
He's just giving his opinion. Everybody have an interpretation about what they feel or listen. Respect them and let them think. You idiot.
Their lyrics literally mean nothing. Example: "My best friend's a butcher he has sixteen knives". "We spies, we slow hands, put the weights all around yourself".
Meaningless, but brilliant.Stop looking for hidden subtext and enjoy the music.
Interphased actually their lyrics are poems, should check genius
Ben Doesentlikeyou Did Carlos D.? write it? Who writes which? Thanks
its off our love to admire. which is literally their best album. in my opinion anyway. so i dont know how yall didnt hear it.
The drums sound like Wave of Mutilation
I found you inside my mind, I lost you inside my mind.
that doesn't make you a nerd, that makes you a good fan. btw, this song isn't off any of their albums.
Goes well with warm bodies - the book i read right now :)

You are not the only one, man.
This is so underrated
Yes!
Without Interpol I might have killed myself already.

the drums at the beginning remind me of the drums at the beginning of Joy Division's Atrocity Exhibition

Been bad, Saturn makes your shield break in pieces
🔜🍀
i guess he's metaphorizing with Saturn's satellite Dafne =)
You don't think the new is very good? :O REALLY? Its in my top 5. Definatly.
i fuckin love Interpol
It's from Precipitate EP
sounds a bit like joy division's atrocity exhibition... still like it, though:D
@mudonsunday. You might need one more question mark to make your question valid. :P
Brilliant song. I actually think the live version at the Route du Rock is better... even if this is the recorded one, the vocals are still a little drowned out.
no prob mate. enjoy!
Te encontré dentro de mi mente
Te perdí dentro de mi mente
Te encontré dentro de mi mente
Te perdí dentro de mi mente
3:15 is the best part.
Is this song about a great hangover?
Actually, Paul is a huge fan of their's.

Where can i find this song?
No this song has deep occult meaning. Much of interpols music goes so far above others heads. But i know exactly what they are talking about. To be blunt. They work for lumens.
+Ben Doesentlikeyou lmao
+Ben Doesentlikeyou I feel you on that one.
tfw to intelligent
Ben Doesentlikeyou
Youre annoying
i think "let the blood drive" should be "let the blood dry"
to me that makes way more sense
but apparently drive is correct
where i can find this song???
@DrCommenter Dude. Me too.
sort of sounds like the pixies
Daphne...
@satanHchrist how could this song be in Our Love to Admire when it was released YEARS prior to the album. Sorry, but your facts are incorrect. :/
Instrumental is too loud. Words should be the center of attention in this song -.-
It was just a demo, they decided it wasn't good enough to appear on TOTBL
Fharid Valencia yeah, this is basically wave of mutilation with different lyrics in it
@DrCommenter
@JohnnyCagePro rosemary isnt a girl he dated
you have to wonder what drove carlos insane??
+Ben Doesentlikeyou Being in a hugely successful band is enough to drive anyone insane. Drugs, touring, screwed up relationships with bandmates, nobody can deal with that for ten years straight without being affected by it in some way. Don't think the occult was involved.
+Ben Doesentlikeyou he's not insane you idiot
+Ben Doesentlikeyou did he go insane? Got any info on this topic? or could you tell me more?
uppers do that to u in the long run....

They said not "Good bad, so you cannot find the conventions" but "been bad, so you cannot find the dimensions"
@gra4te My dearest BEST friend.
