"And women, you have no self-control The angels remark outside, you are known for insatiable needs" I love this song, 4 years since it's been released and it's still amazingly touching. Interpol rulez :)
I don't know if you are going to read this and I've seen your video so many times and listened to this song uncountable more times, but I'm here laying on my bed, past midnight, in the middle of some place forgotten by God, just to say thank you for this video. It's interesting that you captured the essence of the song and also the whole essence of Interpol as well. Maybe it hadn't occurred to you before, but I guess the choice of filming the sea/lake/whatever is not just a coincidence. It's on purpose that many songs from Interpol are themed with sea references. And I'm not only talking about explicit references like "Tidal Wave", " Leif Erikson", "A Time to be So Small", " Stella Was a Diver and She was Always Down", but figuratively speaking about the meaning of the sea as inhospitable place, deep blue, lonely and cruel some times. Just like life that can be a conjunction of some "drops" of desperation, frustration, anger, challenges and an out number of feelings that are often not song in the mainstream music. I think they show the crude side of human being, their struggles and questions, all of that emerging from instant connection of the primal urges/instincts of people. Maybe that's why their songs are also so sexy and not so easy to understand or explain, you just feel them. Liebe Grüße aus Brasilien.
Hey dudamonnerat! Wow and thanks for that comment. It goes very deep and I fully agree with you, but also think that especially the sea (for me) is a calm and energetic place. I love the rough sea as I love the calm sea. It`s a place to be alone and also together. Hard to explain. The same goes for Interpol music. It fits so many parts of life. Happy parts and sad parts. Their music is with me since 2004 and I had many ups and downs. During the time I shot this video I was in a really sad state of mind. And as some parts are intentional, many of it just happened and it`s great to see, that so many people still enjoy it. This year I will become a father and I`m looking forward to share this music with my kid so very much.
lichtempfindlich | Filmproduktion I'm so glad you read my comment! I totally agree with you that the duality of the sea can be a very powerful thing. Maybe on my last comment I sounded a bit bitter/sad, but just like you, I also like the calm sea with the refreshing smell of seawater, the quietness and solitude that everyone needs to "recharge their batteries". And I also would like to take this opportunity to say that I'm happy to know you're in a better state of mind and also about your baby that will certainly have a great dad. Rest assured because someone that has this sensitiveness to appreciate music and make art like you, will probably have everything to make his kid feeling proud and lucky. Besides that, I also would like to thank you for making the video from "Mind Over Time", what a killing video! I've never heard that song before watching your video and I must say that became one of my favourite songs from Interpol. I'm working for few months on a project based on this song. It's a kind of script that still don't know if will become a short movie or just a story. I'd like to be able to talk more about it, in case you are interested.
Wow. This song is like a beautiful special person, that no one can seem to notice, and she/he is slipping away... I heard this song before as a part of a playlist I combined of Interpol, but this is the first time I really listen to this song, I shiver and my body is floating ...

Hello Lichtempfindlich, I know how much you love interpol and I thank you so much for your dedication to this "mission". I only read today your beautiful exchange of ideas with Dudamonnerat. I think that it's really unique that a rock band can stir up such feelings and I think also that It was a great fortune for us to have met them on our way. A very strong hug to your child!! I forgot: both I and you must also thank in particular V.L.M, who would really deserves a monument for his very great and tireless work in spreading the music of this magnificent group.
Thanks for the hug ;-) and the great words. I would love to have more time and maybe make another fan video, but the work in order to get some money is too much right now. I don't like the official videos from Interpol anymore. Since El Pintor nothing good happened (concerning videos). The last great thing was, IMO, Lights. That thing was amazing.

when they say a "band" it's impossible to imagine someone or something more perfectly fitting this term than interpol. they manage to fit drums, bass and the vocals together so amazingly and the emotion, the effect they create is truly heavenly.
If someone thinks that the final "you don't hold a candle" is an idiom, is wrong. This expression is coupled with the beginning "You can't hold it (!!) too tight". The Latins in fact said: "In medio stat virtus"!

Underrated song, album, band. I love hidden beauty .
i would not count interpol to hidden bands
it is compared to the impact that it should have worldwide
just for me. i listen to interpol for 6 months :) why ever,im 37,but... i love the strokes and i didnt recognize about interpol :)
TBH I felt that this album really let me down after the first two releases this album really let me down. Maybe I should give it another chance.
Interpol was massive in its day, not underrated
i mean, how's it possible for a band to be this GOOD?
I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve heard this song and it still amazes me each time
2:44 beautiful layers, climactic percussion, pure Interpol gold

The end of this song (right after 3:20) is quite amazing. You can feel all the decay the lyrics talk about. Will be one of my Interpol's favs ever.
