Rebecca , thanks so much for your video, I also had a discectomy in July , it’s taking forever to heal, I thought after 12 weeks I’d be heal, now I have other little weird thing , but now that you mention a year for for recovery, so now I’m being more patients, thanks again 💕💕💕
Hope you are doing better...it’s going to take time....even more time to get your confidence back at living normally. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about my back...everything I do...I think about my back first....but you will get there. Patience.
Rebecca, Thank You for your videos. They seem to be the most accurate and helpful that I have found on youtube. I had a laminectomy and discectomy in April 2024 and watched all of your videos for guidance prior to and after my surgery . When I wonder if I am recovering successfully, I watch your video for the appropriate time after surgery. Just wanted to say thanks. Mark
I’m so glad I found you, I’m at a point where the pain is un bearable . And sometimes I feel like giving up. I had a Dr. for 2 years just three meds down my throat and didn’t seem to care, but I’ve since changed Drs. And she is the shit, I’ve seen her twice and already have an appointment with a surgeon next week for an assessment. Your videos helped with the not knowing part of it all and now I feel a little better about surgery vs shots. Thank you
I am having surgery June 22 your videos have been honest and so encouraging I want my life back I’m going for it! I’m so glad you are gdoing great! I am going to take it slow and love my back core and living my life again ! Thank you
Can't wait for my surgery. I'm having the consultation at the end of the month. I'm in so much pain! Basically I can only lay down, my wife and kids have to do everything. Your videos were helpful, thank you!
Thank you for this video, I had a laminectomy in June 2023 and am a 7months now. I keep feeling like I am not progressing and want to be back to "normal" activity. When I work out I pay for it for at least 3 - 4 days, I think I need to be more patient and only walk. My walking is max 1 mile and I am so used to doing more. I also dont want to hurt myself, and then I feel like I need to do more!!
Just wanted to say hi and thanks for your videos. 8 months ago I was in terrible pain from a herniated L5/S1 disc and had surgery as NOTHING else was working for me. I scoured the internet for stories of recovery. Your story helped ease anxiety prior to my surgery. I'm now pain free and care free. I made my own video of the top ten things I learned during my journey in hopes to help others like you have helped me. I didn't document my journey as I was fearful of the outcome but it turned out great (for the most part anyway). The anesthesia made me forget more than just my surgery!
Welcome back! So happy to hear you are doing well and living life! 😊 That's all we can really ask for, right? I started the laser therapy in my ankle, today was my 3rd session of 12. Staying hopeful and positive this will help. Fingers crossed. Again, glad to hear you are back! 😊
I am coming up on six weeks post op for an anterior and posterior spinal fusion at L5/S1. They went in through my abdomen, and as well through my back. It was lathroscopic in nature with robotic assist. I no longer have the sciatic nerve pinching that I had before, but the pain is excruciating because now I can feel the rod screws and the prosthetic disc spacer that is now in and part of my spine. As for me, I am obviously still on light duty, no driving, lifting, twisting, or bending at all. My total recovery they tell me will take about one year to complete.
Hello from the Philippines! just had my L4-L5-S1 spine surgery last 5/7/2019. your videos helped me a lot pre & post op. I am taking one day at a time, looking forward to getting my life back soon! When the 'B' word attacks, I just watch your videos again & again. 😁 thank you so much for sharing your experience!
It’s such a tough and lonely thing to go through...unless you have experienced...you can never really understand. Hope you are doing ok now. What the update?
I had lamendectomy on L5 ,S1 and fusion surgery on L2,L3,L4,L5,S1. It has bee one month. Feeling good. A little bit of lower back pain and numbness back, right side butt and right leg. Thank you for your comments.

Hi, Rebecca, Thank you for sharing your back surgery experience with us. I've also had a thoracic laminectomy about 3 months ago. I'm just wondering if you'd ever been asked from your viewers about burning sensation (paresthesia) on your legs and feet and some weakness (tightness on hamstrings )on one of the legs after surgery. I've been asking my doctor about my concerns, but, he is not giving me answers to my question. BTW, when you talk about numbness on your legs, do you mean you didn't feel anything on your leg?
I deliverd baby girl with normal delivery after 1.5 year of spine surgury L5/S1. Now i can walk with my toes also and i can run also. But i face may difficuity and pain after surgury. But one side of hip and thigh of one leg is still numb.
Hi Rebecca. Thanks so much for your videos. One question I had was that did the Doctor place any rods and screws on ur back to maintain proper back alignment ?
October 10th , 2024 I’m scheduled for lumbar recess decompression on the 22nd. My back pain is minimal but the leg and foot pain has been unbearable, did you have symptoms like this
Hi, i love your vídeos because are help to me. I am in 3rd week post laminectomy and feel good no pain pills no twisting, bending or lifting. Still numb in my feet when laying down. I see is a long recovery to be back to normal life. But I have a question for you.... how long you took to be able to drive? I don't think I can drive for now, I still walk slowly, but to get a idea. Congratulations for your recovery I plan on follow my care as you did yours specially because I am 66 years old. God bless you
I had lumbar laminectomy and discectomy in may 2019 then one month later i fell on my back . Had MRI and there was ruptured l4 l5 so underwent again laminectomy discectomy surgery, this time was extensive. If you have severe pain and disc is damaged then i recommend surgery. Even a successful surgery you will have good and bad days but thousand time better than before surgery. Also loose weight take your narcotics please till you dont feel severe pain......Dr.Hussain
Hi rebecca im almost 3 mos post op and thank God i can say i feel so good now but i still have this huge numbness and tingling at the back part of my right leg down to my foot and some toes. My doc said my numbness will be the last one to disappear but dont know when. I can also feel slight sciatic pain sometimes but its nothing compared to the pain i had before the surgery. Do u also have this experience? I will appreciate ur responce. Thank you so much. God bless you!
I’m currently recovering from a Laminectomy and Fusion on week 7 and I constantly feel the metal in my back. I feel like k have a metal plate in my lower back. Did you experience this and if so how long until you didn’t feel it anymore? It’s a constant reminder which I guess for now is good so I don’t bend, lift or twist but I’m hoping it goes away
