At 12:50 in the video I said that Europe was cheaper due to the better exchange rate. But I meant to say that it's cheaper now than if the exchange rate was worse compared to the US dollar. In reality there are of course other factors, especially inflation. So I wouldn't say that it's cheaper to travel in Europe now than it was on previous trips. If anything it seems to be getting overall more expensive in a lot of places. If you're curious to see what the prices were back in 2016 (and me traveling on a much tighter budget with my trusty bicycle), see this old video I filmed on the Greek island of Ios: ruclips.net/video/AoASV7pe4oM/видео.html

Hi Gabe, don't miss out on historic and beautiful Senglea, Cospicua, Vittoriosa and Kalkara. They're on the other side of the Grand Harbour. You can ride a ferry from Valletta and be there in 6 minutes.
Schengen Zone is “visa free” travel to the countries within the zone. You don’t need a separate visa to go to each place. Going through customs is different from passport control. Customs is for declaring goods and valuables. Some countries in the Schengen zone will still ask for your passport (ID) to board the plane - especially transiting into Germany by bus. The Germans will often board the bus and check everyone’s passport and will also look in the toilet for stowaways 😂 Malta is amazing! I was there recently and look forward to returning. The ferry from Valletta to Sliema was under construction.
I enjoy your How To Get To Places videos as much as your actual ones on the countries themselves. I've used so much of your info to help me along on many trips. Appreciate your knowledge and time as the best travel guru.
Funnily enough, I was nearly in Malta now too. It was a toss-up between Malta and Istanbul, and whilst the flights from London to Malta were ridiculously cheap, accommodation was so expensive. So I'm now writing this from Istanbul! 😊
Hi Gabriel, Malta has been ruled by many different empires which includes the Holy Roman Empire for 72 years and under British rule for over 150 years. Malta has been the backdrop for over one hundred films over the years.
I know the physical act of traveling can beat a person down (it does me), but my gosh what a life. Greece, Nepal, India, Thailand, Australia, Fiji, Hawaii, Portland, Nevada, Orlando, UK, Spain, Netherlands, France, Malta . . . and that's since last Thursday. 😀Love the videos.
Welcome back to Malta. I moved here last year after seeing your video of your first trip. I fell in love with Malta from your video and now I live hear in this amazing country.
Lovely choice :) I was in Malta in April and I had one of the best time ever. I recommend spending more time in Gozo than the main island. It’s more relaxed, with some great walks around the coast ;) we stayed at a place called “Marsalforn”. A cute little village on the north of the island. From there you can access some nice natural walks or biking routes. Tip: AirBnB seemed much more affordable in Malta than hotels.
I was in Malta about 7 years ago and I really liked it. Small beautiful island with a huge population. I have a holiday home on the island of Thassos in Greece, while my main residence is in the nearby town of Xanthi. Thassos has an area of 380.10 square meters and a permanent population of 11500 inhabitants, while Malta has an area of 316.00 square meters and a population of 520000 !!! residents. Thassos in the summer is visited by about 470,000 tourists per month. I wonder how many tourists are added to Malta's 520000 permanent residents in the summer. Enjoy your stay there and share with us the beauties of this island.
Hey Gabriel. I was in Malta just as everything started to open up again after COVID around August 2021. I loved it there. It wasn't too busy but think its gotten busy lately and rowdy enough around St Julians. Looking forward to your videos to see what its like now 👍🏻
You ''have'' to go to Myconos (island) first and take a boat to Delos. I don't know if Gabe would like that..Also Delos is uninhabited ,just an archeological site and you can visit only the day. Other than that if you have any archeological /historical interests Delos is really worth the visit.
@@jimjim8645 I wanted to go when I was on Mykonos for ten days in February a few years ago, but I couldn't because the boats weren't running over there in winter.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos During winter (usually Nov-March) there is only one boat route /week (i think it's every Friday not sure). Delos is just an archeological site ,it has a very small port so only small boats can go. If you fall into the ''meltemi week'' thinks get more difficult. Unfortunately the boat costs around 20€ and there is also a ticket for the island 12€ !...
Gozo is well worth the visit, I have stayed on both Gozo and Malta and I prefer Gozo. Its easy to get to. Get a public bus to the ferry terminal and then it's a short ferry ride
Malta is sure very close to Africa.. be wild to see you explore some of sub saharan Africa some time Also I went to Madeira this year would definitely recommend.. a unique climate for europe and one of the best places for hiking
Amazing Malta, good choice. Popeye Village is a very unique place there but there are still some other places that you didn't go first time there. Have a nice time.
I remember flying into CDG airport in August 2012 before dawn, we had to transfer to another terminal for our connecting flight to Prague and at that hour the shuttle was not operating, we then had to sprint for what seemed like forever to get to our destination, the airport is massive
I'm going to Nice, Cannes in Oct. I'm fly stand by and less fly in the early winter, I can get a seat on plane. Plus hotels are affordable. Summer is crazy, no thx.enjoy Malta

I was in Vienna in 2009 and I remember how bad the exchange rate was. I then went to Hungry where they were not on the Euro and it was cheaper to visit.
E$ 22 is close to US$32 for access to a VIP lounge where one can eat a lot and rest. VIP lounges have always been expensive, but airport food prices are so outrageous that now lounges may be a better option.
Malta is gorgeous, stunning and steeped in history. We had our honeymoon there 9 years ago and went back 4 or 5 times afterwards. The Battery Salute at Valletta is a must see/hear! Gozo and Comino are great although Comino is too busy to enjoy it now and the waters can be full of jelly fish.
Tough to compare since Spain is so much larger with a lot more to see and much more variety. Both are well worth a visit. Malta is worth a week or two as a traveler whereas you could easily spend months in Spain.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos You could easily spend an eternity in Spain. Spain is extremely vast with its 17 tribes and all the Balearic and Canary Islands.
