I did something similar with Thompsons 10 year roof seal onto the parapet wall mortar of my flat roof- so far so good.
Yes, we have used that in the past. It works for a period but needs topping up every so often.

Unfortunately, no, however, there are a lot of a products out there and they're all good, they just need to be laid correctly
I'd use cromapol or something similar, used it in the past and stopped the water dead in its tracks
Did you do repointing on the walls before you coated them with the liquid system?
Yes you have to do maintenance to the wall first
