Love my ‘21 FXLRS. Massive step up from my iron 883! No regrets whatsoever. I was initially going to buy a Dyna until I rode the new softails. What a huge step up in power, comfort, handling, everything! I rode several softails, but when I rode the LRS I was done! I found my bike! The extra weight is great for the highway. The extra power is great for everywhere. The handling on the LRS is light years ahead of my sporty. So is the stability. The 6th gear is awesome! I guess it’s for when you want to cruise at 80+ and be around 3k rpm. I rarely have to use it. The amount of torque on hand throughout the rpm range is outstanding! Eventually I want a torque cam (cause I love that torque!) and I can’t imagine what it will feel like then?
I had an Iron 883. My mistake was test riding a 2022 Lowrider S. Purchased it that day. I added cruise control and swapped the stock bars for 12" Dominated Meathook Mini Apes. My short arms made the stock bars a reach (I'm 5'6"). Now I can sit upright, grab the bars with some bend in my arms. The M8 117 is a beast. Pulls strong in ever gear at on the highway doing 70mph in 6th gear you're at 2,800 rpm with great power on tap. Go to pass another vehicle at 70mph, hold the throttle and you're doing 90mph by the time you complete the pass. The ride is very stable and the suspension is robust enough that I've never felt jolted going over bumps.
The 883 to low rider s transition is night and day. You don’t realize just how “old school” the sportster platform is until you ride one of the newer Harleys. Still love the sportster for what it is though lol
Awesome video. Im on a street bike and im over it years of riding street bikes then sitting on a Harley makes a whole difference on your back when you get older!! Hopefully ill be getting a lowrider in the near future
Many dealerships don't allow test rides. Mine didn't. But I know how you feel. My first bike was a Honda CB 300F. 27 HP 380lb naked upright, with handlebars. Then with no test ride, I upgraded to a CBR 650F. 90 HP 450lb Sport bike with clip ons! It definitely took some getting used to. Good video man!!
Thanks KG! Yeah, my reason for not wanting to go on test rides is just a time/hassle thing. I don't want to have to sit there and chat it up with the sales guy unless I know I'm gonna buy it. Thanks for watching!
Awww man…I just followed you on ig and I suddenly discovered you got the HD Forty Eight awww man 😂😂😂. I knew you’d go back to the sportster. I’m watching the vids from old to new. Still gonna watch em though! Damn that’s what I’m gonna do bro! Nice!!!! I like that low rider S
Much more fun, power, heavier, and funnier. I also never tested rode one either. I have only been riding for 2 years as well. A lot more power with the Stage II. The only thing that sucks is the gas consumption. The first time I rode it I almost got thrown out because I throttled hard as like I did on my Sportster 883. The one major fix I am trying to fix is the wind buffering.
I may have discovered a possible solution to the wind buffering. I noticed while riding the T Sport fairing is doing a great job. I put my hand next to the tank while going highway speed at 75 and there was a ton of wind coming up hitting my helmet from below. I am going to fabricate some “fins” by the tank. I’ll keep you posted when I make a video.
I snatched my black one up as soon as I saw it. These bikes are are great steed and at the end of the gas era. Get one is you can. Soon, it will be electrical shock to worry about...not burning your chins on exhaust pipes.
I think it’s a good transition for sure man. I know test riding one the other day was a big step up in power from my Dyna even, so the Sportster even so much more. Respect the power!
Thanks for great video. I turn 62 next month and buying a new bike for my birthday, I have not ridden a bike since I sold my Street Glide 17 years ago. Because I am older and a tad weaker in strength, I know lower weight bikes are easier to handle. I want the Low Rider ST which weighs 727 lbs and still can't make up my mind as to which bike to buy,. I have always owned Harleys (883, WideGlide, Softail deluxe and Street Glide) and have been eyeing the new Indian Scout 101 which weighs 547 lbs. Just curious as to what bike you would recommend. I live in Austin TX and going to use bike to cruise around city but also take 4 hour cruises in the Texas Hill Country. I know heavier bikes are a tad more difficult to handle but also know the heavier weight is better for cruising. Thanks for reviewsand you have a new subscriber. Awesome video. Safe travels🙏
Hey Bob! Thank you for the kind words and happy early birthday. For me I’d recommend the low rider st as it’s more versatile right out of the gate, but I’d also check out the heritage softail as one of the best all around Harleys. The scout 101 is definitely a ton of fun, but it hasn’t been around long enough yet. Just my 2 cents
bro good vid - this is what I needed to hear. Im currently looking at lowrider s or st - need that 6th gear and more power, with some comfort and ability to pack
@@IronBornRider yeah it’s got the extended warranty as well which is good. Can’t wait to see the black chrome on it, not sure how that finish will hold up though🤞

I love my '19 Roadster and have thought about trading it up to the FXLRST, but I just can't pull the trigger. I want a bigger bike (and a 6th gear) for the longer trips since I commute by motorcycle for work, but I love how nimble and quick the Roadster is, as well as it's ability to lane split without any hesitation. Maybe I'll wait a for a deal on a used one to add a second bike to the stable so I can have one for the urban city riding I mostly do and the other for the longer hauls.

Yeah definitely. I've rode my whole life. Had my first dirt bike at 6 and quads and scooters you name it. My first bike was a Honda shadow 600 but I'm about to get my first Harley on my birthday September 24th. I'm super excited. I was torn between the Lowrider S and the Streetbob but I've made up my mind and the Streetbob is what I'm getting. They're both beautiful. The day cannot come quick enough!!!!
I have the street rod 750 I know I'm a rare breed that bought that weird little thing 😅😅 but after having it for 5 years I think it's time to pull the trigger on the low rider s as I have test rode one and it's a huge difference on power and comfort as far as handling it's about the same as the street rod 750 had the same lean angles as the low rider s with the main difference being weight and power but either than I think it's time to trade in and up now I'm not gonna do too much moding outside of a fairing and maybe some bags and that's it

i kind of think people should learn to ride on a dirtbike. seems like a bad idea for someone to be learning how to ride a motorcycle in general on the road with traffic etc.
There are ways to safely practice on the road. I personally just rode around my neighborhood slow until I understood the weight and feel of the bike as well as shifting gears. People learning on dirt bikes is much safer though I still agree
@@FinkleIsEinhorn. you might be able to. I’m all torso and my inseam is like 29 inches. Also I think the saddlemen tends to add a little thickness. Flat footing a motorcycle is more about inseam size than height. I'm 5'6" with a 29" inseam and can flat foot my 2022 FXLRS. My challenge was the reach to the bars. That was a stretch so I switched the stock bars for 12" mini apes with a 4" pullback. Now I can seat straight up with my hands on the grips and some bend in my arms.
