Thanks for sharing a fun hike on a miserable day. Oslo's facial expression is priceless when you put on his coat!
Me thinks Harvey is getting more at ease with this vlogging malarkey.....love the outtakes at the end...what fun.
Who would like to help get Athena’s community past 50K subs for Christmas?
Your music always gets my attention and this I closed my eyes within seconds.
Seeing you smile and both well is rewarding whatever timing is apparent
Great Video. Good to see people with a paper map! I'm enjoying your videos, the music is always good. The route you took on Grindsbrook is called "True Right". A river term, facing the stream, going down hill. The other fork is called "True Left". I have been there and on the southern edges of Kinder many times for fun and to rescue people as I am a volunteer in the local Mountain Rescue Team. We are usually out in similar weather to you! Keep up the good work.
I can't believe its been 5 months since I found your channel, truly it has been the best 5months of my life because its when it all began for me.
your videos literally induced a light bulb
💡 moment in my life and words will never be enough to express my gratitude.
1.Because of you, I appreciate a life I used to hate so much that I couldn't wait to get out of it
2. Because of you, I started living more simply and it has made a happier human being
3. Because of you , I started documentary my rural life which set the tone for my self acceptance journey
Now I am Happy and I am free☀😁
You are indeed a blessing to our generation. Thank you for existing🤗💚
Love that Harvey is in more videos. I love the stuff you do solo, but you guys are great together :D
Your videos are quite inspiring. Actually made me want to hike more and I'm going for my first long hike in years next week =). Keep up the videos!
It’s wonderful to get out in any weather, and you really appreciate the creature comforts when you get home. Great vid, keeps my spirits up, thank you.
Beautifully made as always! You can really see the difference in your videos over the last few months. Upskilling is definitely been one of the key focus points for 2020. Lovely watching you guys embracing everything that's thrown at you! Thanks again for another wonderful video 😊
How beautiful!! ❄️ It also snowed a lot here in south Germany and of course into the Alps. I see the white mountains from my window, it looks wonderful 🤍
I am a solo mountain hiker from Chitral Pakistan. Could you please visit my channel. I shall be really thankful to you for that!
Haha just like my mum always used to say: There is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing! 😉
@Ishmael Sealey Thanks 😊 You too!
Just delightful. Saving this one for a rewatch on one of our awful Sydney summer 40°+ days
Yes, this is exactly what I need right now! Thank you Athena, you’re really making me want to get out there more! Planning on putting the ramble guide to the test in February on my week off work ☺️ really looking forward to it!!
Great video showing the not so nice side of fell walking very inspiring to get out even in wet conditions it does make you feel really warm and cosy when you get back in doors. It's my hands that get cold like you said nothing worst than wet cold gloves when walking.
Lovely music as always and a lovely walk (I secretly love that kind of weather for walking too). Great seeing more of Harvey and lol at Oslo’s face when his jacket was going on.
I think most of us know how difficult it is to take half decent stills on a day like that. Let alone coherent video which tells the tale of a relentlessly grim, cold and wet day.
I always enjoy your videos and know exactly how you feel on the hill and how good it feels to be back home in the warmth and comfort of your home.
I expect the dog enjoyed his day out and knows exactly what is going to happen next when you get out your wet weather clothing, boots and rucksacks. Do you know the joke about the Glesga dug called Puddles?
Haha no I don’t!!! I’d love to know. He always gets excited when we start packing our bags for a hike 😀
You 2 sitting at the end chatting....absolutely adorable. Lovely job filming in those difficult conditions, cant wait to visit to Peak District and go on some of your walks from your book.
Always feel uplifted and inspired after watching your videos. keep up the good work.
I'm loving the outtakes at the end! So funny to watch, another great video!
A friend and I experienced thick fog up on Kinder a few years ago, such a tricky place to navigate in bad conditions but a lovely part of the peaks. Thanks for another great video 👍
Another great video to keep my spirits up. Thanks Athena!
I really enjoyed this video I went up Snowdon end of November I didn't get any snow at all some lovely places in the peak district ive stayed in castleton in the past I went up Shuttlinsloe and Black hill start of August this year im hoping to visit the Peak district again in the near future. Lot of snow you had there.
Good to hear Harvey on the videos too. I haven't done that route for about 20 years. It's going to be my next walk over Christmas. Thanks to you both
Sounds lovely! Enjoy 😀
Hi ! Enjoyed this; the smiles the spring in your step, civilised slabbed path, cute bridges and hoods down was a promising start ! A bit too much ‘atmosphere’ on top, but great visuals with the snowy patches, mud and mist. Up here in Scotland we call that a ‘walk in the park !’ He, he, ;-)
Hi mate. Loved how rugged that approach to Kinder looked. With the conditions that could have been anywhere in the Scottish highlands. Not sure if you'll be posting again before Xmas but just wanted to wish you, Harvey, your family, Heather & the star man Oslo a lovely Christmas & all the good health & happiness in what we all hope will be a more 'normal' 2021. Take care xx
OMG! this weather reminds me of a hike we had like 10 years ago. We got lost in the mountains in a snow storm and we had to take shelter at an abandoned sheep ranch. I'm from Romania, so we had to look out all night for bears. In the morning, there was like an extra 50cm of snow. We had to call the mountain rescue services. To this day, it was the most epic hike me and my friends took.
Loving the editing again. I like how you set the mood with the music at the beginning. I cannot wait to be able to travel to Wales again. Skye is on my list for next year too!
Great video, looks like you three had another good hike in the peaks👌🏻
Good to see Harvey becoming more involved. I too can enjoy those rainy, cold, wet and windy days. Just a lovely video.
Now I am beating my brain to death trying to think of the name of the piano music at minutes 10 and 11 (roughly).
Thank you! I can’t remember the name but I will check and add it in the description 🙂
@@RambleFamily thank you
Soooooooo beautiful, even in that dreadful weather. Can't wait for your guide to arrive. Did you manage to post them yet, Athena?
Thank you Athena. Great video and just to say, your videography skills are great. I really look forward to your videos and love seeing your hikes.
Thank you Michele! 😊
I guess I’m a geek too Harvey :) the bridge was spectacular! Another fantastic video,I absolutely love your channel 💚 And thank you so much Athena for the link to skill share I have been wanting to take a course on photography for quite some time. xoxo 🌿
Hi Athena, I just wanted you to know how much your video helped me today. I was struggling this morning when I woke up to find my center not sure what to latch onto to bring some sense of hopefulness to go into my day. I live in America and our days ahead feel dark and heavy. Then I found this video. Walking on Kinder Scout with you Harvey and Oslo was exactly what I needed. Those beautiful open spaces, your encouraging narrative, and I love Harvey's input too. You both so remind me of me and my husband at your age. Being in nature is a huge stress reliever for me and right here in Washington State, it is murky, cold, and rainy. But being on Kinder scout today with you lifted my spirits no end. Thank you for contributing to the positivity and change we look forward to in this world and thank you to SkillShare for sponsoring this video, I will definitely check out their site.
Take care always! Thank you for sharing another awesome video!! 😍
Really liked this vid. Well done guys.
It's great having Harvey along for the ride. Always enjoyed your unique content, I just like seeing the two of you together..
Thank you! That’s really kind of you to say ☺️
Hi Athena, I just received your Ramble Guides and I must say, it’s absolutely brilliant. I’ve recently moved close to the Peaks so I’m looking forward to exploring new areas. Your book will make life very easy :)
Thank you so much! So pleased to hear that 😊
@@RambleFamily Looking forward to your other guides, especially the Lakes
I am impressed by the 3 of you (including Oslo) hiking in such wet, cold and snowy weather. The landscape is beautiful, which we do not have in our tropical climate and city state of Singapore. Looking forward to you next vlog.
Yeah I love that weather. Buzzing when you get back down.
Great video as all ways hopefully up that way next week to do some walking
I have to agree, Harvey. That bridge was beautiful. Thanks, Athena. I'm trying out Skillshare. Thanks for the link. 👍🙂
A path well trodden...but so beautifully filmed and edited! I think we were out the day before, over in Cave Dale. Weather was a good deal better, but pretty much all of the snow had alresdy disappeared lower down. So it was just mud! 😁👍
I haven't tuned in in a while because I've been incredibly busy with school but I have missed watching your videos so much! Definitely been uninspired to get outside recently but this really makes me want to get out for a nice walk tomorrow which I shall do :)
Aw thank you! Glad you enjoyed it and it inspires you to get out 😊
Lovley vid chilled me out nice one love it 🤸🤸
Nice video and gave me some ideas. Could you share the route. I've done plenty in the lakes but know very little about the peaks. I woukd like to explore it more, particularly as its not as far away from me down here near the South Downs.
What breed is Oslo seems to be a very large hound . Don't think I have been up there in good weather. We have just had a partial release for our Spanish lockdown. Have not been able to go across the valley from the Sierra Contraviesa to Sierra Navada for the last few weeks could look across but not go . Partial reduction of restrictions and can now travel around Granada province so managed to get a hike in checking out a unofficial ie no path up onto the ridge got up to 2500mtrs only patches of snow so could not test our new winter kit . Love your videos memories of UK walking
Regarding wet gloves, what I've resorted to doing is wearing a very thin insulating glove (approx 1mm thick) inside a pair of *black* marigolds (the kind you use for washing up).
Pink ones?
@@flashman3962 ☺️
I was up there the same day! Must have been hard work trying to film in those conditions it was bad enough stopping for a brew and sandwich. Loved the video PS I carry 3 pairs of gloves on those kind of winter days
That coat could use a reproof Athena, I was in the PD yesterday, no snow but lots of man eating bogs
The quality of your videos is just great 🔥 🔥 Keep up the good work!
I am wondering what kind of case you are using for your map in the video and if you are happy with it. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your trip! Might be worth considering getting Oslo, your dog, a coat that’s waterproof and windproof. I found that an Animate coat did the job on a similarly wet and windy day at Buttermere, and my cocker spaniel definitely appreciated it (as did I, as he wasn’t so wet as usual!)
I am a solo mountain hiker from Chitral Pakistan. Could you please visit my channel. I shall be really thankful to you for that!
Love your videos so inspiring! Love the music and love Oslo’s facial expressions ha ha ....
Hahaha his expressions are always priceless...
Hi athena and Harvey. Another beautiful
Video. looks cold. but stunning views. Thank you
For taking us along. And sharing.
As allways take care.
The. Old fella.
Thank you for sharing another amazing video, I love remote areas but more desert type climates, always look forward to your video. “Proper nice “ Stay safe cheers from Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
That IS a beautiful bridge!
It looked so cold and Oslo's face was priceless:)
You we’re definitely a day too late, I was up there on Monday and it was stunning, calm skies no wind, a little overcast but the sun broke out just before sunset.
Really enjoyed this. Pretty spectacular despite getting all the weather imaginable. Athena, have you considered getting a USB Handwarmer/Powerbank? They are brilliant and are a very welcome comfort when out in the environment. Can highly recommend the Zippo 9S. Happy Christmas to you both too.😊
Sounds like it might be a good idea! Especially when filming my hands get so cold. Thanks for the recommendation 😊
Hi Athena, such a beautiful video, as usual! Could you tell me again the name of the Skillshare classes you mentioned? They sound great! x
Lovely weather, plenty of liquid sunshine. Definitely 'typical British weather'. Thanjs for posting.
A cool video from both of ye to prove yer not just fair weather hikers, makes you appreciate home sweet home and it's comforts, when ye returned, I honestly think it safer to have company up there just in case in such harsh conditions, it was definitely a hike to remember, stay safe folks 😎
I agree that I think it’s safe to have company! Even though I’ve been up Kinder multiple times, it was really disorientating in the fog. We had to check the map much more than normal! Thanks for watching 😀
Great video again Athena and Harvey. So good to see Harvey part of the team and Oslo is the real star. I've got a suggestion for filming in the cold. Get an old pair of warm gloves and cut a slit in the index finger by your first knuckle on the back of the glove of your preferred hand. You only need one finger to operate the camera and you can poke you finger out and pop it back into the warm.
Keep up the good work.
Oslo looked like he'd rather have been in front of the fire 🔥 Some proper British weather on the walk, we've plenty of snow here in the Cairngorms, you should head up when your allowed 👍🏃
I welcomed the grilled cheese sandwich at the end of this hike in miserable weather. Thank you for sharing. Oslo is smart! He's gone to bed!
I think Oslo was glad to cwtch up with a blanket, thanks for the video 👍
Great video.💙 Definitely atmospheric with the weather conditions. Beautiful scenery. Thanks for sharing your skill share favourites to check out on photography and making RUclips videos. Tempted to join and check them out. Hoping you get up here to Scotland 🏴 again like you mentioned.💙
Definitely worth trying it out! I have found so many classes so helpful 😊
I don’t like this weather myself(not British, btw) but when I have the right equipment, I love it :)
It’s somehow peaceful
Nice! Where’d you get those sweaters?
Loved this
Always nice to get out and about these days. The grilled cheese sandwich looked delicious ,great reward.
Oslo made me think of my dog who also doesn't like to wear a coat and won't walk at all if we put it on her.
I was watching a previous video where you said you were walking Oslo for your Mom because she was away, seems like Oslo is your dog. ?? Bee well.
Snow in the mountains ❤ poor Oslo you need to get him some sheepskin boots that the huskys use in the snow to keep his feet protected from the ice & cold.
Hahaha I bet he’d like those!
great video! what trousers are you wearing??
I am a solo mountain hiker from Chitral Pakistan. Could you please visit my channel. I shall be really thankful to you for that!
"It was wet, freezing and miserable - can't wait to get out again" - sums up the outdoor life so succinctly😂
Also; Olso's baleful eyes as you putting his jacket on. That glance at the camera just seemed to say, "Help, call the RSPCA!"
Then when he's all cuddled up on your comfy bed, "Nevermind, cancel that."
Hi Athena, I've been hooked onto your channel and I'm really keen to do more walks and move closer to a national park. For the moment, I'm 2 - 3 hours away from the Peaks and I don't have a van. I'm wondering if you'd have advice for me where to stay fairly cheaply so as to be able to have regular walks. I find (air)B&Bs (even campsites) can be booked well in advance and travelling solo means some pricey overnight prices. I'm wondering if you have suggestions for me?
I'm also looking to move there this year so if you know of a nice place to rent pl pl pretty pl ^_^
Great video 👍😊
Quick question...have I seen you using a travel coffee grinder? If so, where did you buy it from? Thank you x
Hi lovely video , love your Oslo bet he was glad to be home in the warm ? By the way , have you ever been walking on the North York Moors , We'd love to see a video of that , it's one of our favourite places in winter or summer , it's beautiful especially around the North York Moors railway , I think there's a walk that follows the railway track if your into trains ? However there's lots more walks out on the very tops of the Moors , anyway just a thought 😀 keep the videos coming there brilliant , and stay safe 🥰 xx
Superb sharing! May you achieve 50K subs very soon!
I was already getting cold watching this. What kind of boots are you wearing? I am looking for bew waterproof boots since my Meindls are giving up the ghost. Thanks
These are Scarpa mountaineering boots. They fit a crampon and I wear them when I know the weather is going to be really bad as they ate so waterproof!
I cant make my mind up whether the weather was worse for you or me on Saturday (12 Dec) I didn't have as much snow but that was more than made up for with the driving wind, our "views" were about the same, thick mist. It was good to get down into Hayfield looking forward to that hot soup in the cafe, oh no it was closed, damn you covid.
Enjoying your videos and Oslo is a star
Enjoyed it very much
Where did you get that sweater from?🤔
Hi, for info the right fork at the top of Grindsbrook is a fun way up on to the plateau, best done in Summer though, be a nightmare at the moment, several large boulders and a few small waterfall pitches to negotiate but certainly doable, be far too much water and slippy to first time mess with currently, Andy
Hi Athena.
I just wanted to wish you Merry Christmas and to let you know that I love your channel.
I wonder if you could tell me what breed of dog Oslo is? He is so cute!
Doug.
He is a Lakeland Trailhound (rescue). You can’t get them as puppies as they are bred for racing. We got Oslo when he was 1 as they said he wasn’t suited as a racing pup ❤️
I am in Sacramento, California. I have been planning on solo hikes. There are so many beautiful places to hike in. I am 1 hour or so from San Francisco hills, mountains and ocean, Lake Tahoe, wine country and 2 hours from Yosemite. My problem is I have to be careful since California has bears, mountain lions, snakes and poisonous spiders. LOL. But more scary are humans. They have seem to be the more dangerous species. But that wont stop me from my hikes.
Rain is fine until you get cold !
I love that kind of weather, and I miss taking my dog out in it
Miss Edale!
I was sceptical of Skillshare and it helps to know that you recommend as we as use it yourself.
:)
You, Harvey and Oslo are the cutest family ever!!! xxx
Thanks for taking me up there (so I didn't have to). Certainly a beautiful part of the world but perhaps not so much in winter.
Snow and ice is nice.........
On a Xmas card!
Respect to you and Oscar!
Love it🥰🙏🏼
I love rainy weather.
Ha ha. No different to the 1970's 😀😀 when I was up there !! Mountains stay the same. The visitors change. Keep going and support them 😀😀 Thanks For the video 😀😀😀
Harvey being Harvey "weeeee are just filming an outro here" no one ever says that :p
Great video Athena keep up the good work and give Oslo a Christmas cuddle from me all the best.....stewart
Thank you! I will 😀
Just watched this, what a great way to start a rainy Saturday morning while drinking coffee. You guys make me smile 🙂. We usually head out to the Smoky Mountains to see snow during the winter. I’ve hiked in snow, rain, extreme heat and cold. I’d rather hike in snow, than rain. You get wet! Any way, thanks for sharing this, love it! ❤️❤️❤️🎄
