I've researched many cruisers >1300cc, and based on the data, I've limited my choices to this and one other bikes. Your generosity of providing real world reviews have been very helpful to make me a more informed consumer. I'm grateful for your time.
nthnrnz33 Thank you sir, I am glad that You find my thoughts, and reviews useful. I have been really happy with this bike, and with the mods I made to it. Be sure to check out the Vstar 1300 wiki, and the Facebook Vstar 1300 pages on Facebook. There are some really cool guys on there with some awesome ideas. Thank you again for watching, and commenting.
Thank you for your great video update on the Bike, I very much agree with the comments that you made. On my previous (4) Motorcycles I always ran out of gears, that has never happen on the V Star 1300, you just turn the right handle and she goes and goes. The motor is a short stroke engine with (4 valves /cylinder) that you can wind up just about like a Sports bike. I believe this bike outruns most of the 1600 cc Harley's. You have made nice changes to the Bike, at this time I have not had any issues with the original seat, but it looks like you are a bit taller than I am. Two weeks ago I put a new set of tires on the Bike, I had decided on the Michelin Commander II. On September 22nd did ride to Bikes Blues and Barbecue in Fayetteville Arkansas. The Michelin Commander II tires are the best tires that I ever had on any of my Motorcycles. They are soft enough to get good grip, but supposed to have also great wet grip and exceptional longevity. So far I am very please with them and also I noticed that my breaking distance is much shorter now. This weekend I had a chance to ride two different Victory Bikes one was the Victory Magnum, the other was a Victory Cross Country. After that riding experience I appreciate my V star 1300 even more. The steering on the Victory is awkward with the pulled back Handle bar, it is makes the steering very indirect and awkward. Yamaha goes down into details and makes things work in all areas, I am totally sold on Yamaha products, I am originally from Germany. BMW makes good Motorcycles, but I believe Yamaha competes very well. Thanks, HJB
Hey awesome comment . thank you for the feedback on your experience with yor vstar. They truly are awesome bikes. As you state with the oversquare motor, this bike likes to rev. I also notice you can down shift and blib the throttle almost like a sport bike ... haha... it's nuts. I test rode the victory magnum. I didn't care for the 21" wheel. The stock cc I did like better. That one had a 19" wheel which made handeling feel a bit better. I have been contemplating adding a 19" wheel in the future. I think it would set the bike off nice.
Loved the backyard scenery. In-depth review and sharing wind buffeting struggles is very helpful. Good tip with the vent. Seating and tons of other useful information. Watched the whole 28 min and one of your most informative videos.
Thank you so much for the feedback, you know the whole video we 45 minutes lol... I sat here and was like omg... My original review was 8 minutes, and this is 42 lol. So I cut it to the main essentials. Yes the buffeting mainly comes into play on highways with speeds over 60mph . The lowers will also block cold air, and when combined with soft lowers keep your feet ,knees , and chest amazingly warm. If riding on a day above 80 degrees, I will usually pull the lowers off, and throw them in the saddle bags , just to get more air to my body. You can make these yourself easily with plexi glass, and a card board cut out. Sky is the limit when you add a little ingenuity. Thank you for watching, and hope your having a great night . Stay safe.
Mine coming next week. 2008 model with screen and leather Yamaha panniers, Yamaha sissy bar and rack, Yamaha front crash bars, Cobra slipon can. Only done 9600 miles in twelve years and looks like new. I can’t wait,
Oh awesome congrats . I hope you enjoy it . If you look in my maintenance playlist , you will see two videos I did using a HF motorcycle jack . Showing how I lift the bike.
Dbest1a. Don't know if you remember me. I used to live in NJ. Got a 2015 Deluxe with a big influence from your vlog. I'm shorter than you and had the same issue with the back pain. I got the same bars and an ED seat with backrest. Fixed it. I moved to the Charlotte NC area and made the trip in 9 hours. No pain, but I sure wish I knew about your cruise countrol setup. My right arm was sore. I put those lower wind deflector on, but still feel some buffeting. It might need the wind screen vents. That might be my next change. Either that or a hard trunk. Love your videos. Keep up the great work.
Hey , yes I do remember you . You made some awesome changes to your bike .When I rode down to Myrtle beach I used that CC set up so often , it will make any long ride a breaze. hehe. I get a little buffeting at times, but it's rare, I cut the 10" shield down an inch to 9" and the vent really helps . This is a see over the shield set up. Another option you could do is buy a second deluxe shield then cut it down . I used a jigsaw with plexiglass cutting blades. You can always experiment with height also. The next thing I would like to do is make some fork deflectors based off the Memphis shields, but a bit narrower..
Thanks for watching Sam, they are great bikes indeed. I really would like to take it on a tour through a few states , hopefully soon. I'm wondering if Yamaha will bring their cruiser line out for 2017... It doesn't look they will be...
Great video Bruce. I always look forward to you putting up new films. I think this review is the best I've seen on the 1300 and will help people who are considering buying one, or doing some of the mods you have. Great work! Keep on having fun. Don
Hey Don thank you so much for commenting, and watching. I am glad you enjoyed the video. I really do it helps others that wonder what the possibilities are for this bike. They can also see that you don't have to spend a to. Of cash on upgrades, as parts are out there on the cheap ... Heheh.. Hope all is well, take care..
That's a very good looking bike. I was able to test ride the v star deluxe and other bikes this summer. I'm very impressed with the way the deluxe handles. I'm trying hard to see if I can get into one next summer. I apreciatte you sharing the things you've done to it.
Somehow I missed your comment ... Thank you for watching . It is nice to get to test ride one. In stock form the bike is really held back, why because they tuned the bike to be lean until full throttle. The bike being a bit on the lean side causes some surging at slow speed, and some say at highway speed. To combat this most have used the o2 bypass bung from eBay. I have used this also, but have since moved on to the ecu flash from Ivan . Another two items are the tires, the stock tires wear out after approx 7k , they don't last long. Getting a set of Metz 888 or commander 2s will change both the ride and handling . My only issues with the commander 2s is they are a slightly smaller diameter , which causes higher rpms at final gear speeds of 70+ ..
Wow. What an in-depth, detailed review. Great for the potential buyers or anyone in the market for a new motorcycle. Your bike is sleek as hell, Bruce! I love the night rider light. Everyone's posting bike reviews. I should do a review of my bike after a summer riding season with her. Hope you're doing well, brother. Ride safe!
I did my first review video at 3500 miles. After seeing the views and responses that video got, I figured I should at least do a more detailed follow up . I'll link the first review in the description . Heck yeah bro, if you want to do a review.. I say go for it. If you need a hand with recording or anything .. Let me know. I can always lend a helping hand, tripod or whatever. Thanks for watching, stay safe.
Hey buddy great vid I love my v star 1300 tourer. To get some more light to the back get the front marker blinker housings they have double filament sockets mount to rear so you have running and blinkers in rear. Will have to run jumper wire from running wire (license plate wire). I bought a set of front oem markers on eBay $30 and couple strands of wire your set. Also I got couple switchback leds for font (white to orange) and rear (red to orange) really shows well with contrast.
Hey good tips there. Never thought of running the fronts in the rear. I did snag a runt turn brake on eBay at a steal, just want together some red bulbs. I have passing lamps up front right now. How much miles on your 1300 so far..
Dbest1a Vlogs I bought my 2014 v star 1300 tourer last march was still in crate. It's got just over 7,000 miles on it. I enjoy tinkering with it put highway bars and trunk from Amazon on mine. My wife wanted little more side stability and the trunk has u shaped back/arm rest.
Tom Cecil Thank you for watching. The bike is still doing great, has 28,800 miles on it so far. I just got back from a 2600 mile trip to the smoky mountains which it did great riding to, through, and back. I will have to update this video again soon.
If they upgrade all of what you said it would cost more like 16,000 new so what you get for the price of the star you can't beat it. It reminds me of the vtx1300 both nice bikes. Love the videos man keep the rubber on the road
Tyler Thrash thank you for watching. Yes it's a pretty solid bike, I really haven't had any complaints, aside from a 6th gear for highway use. I do try to keep on top of the maintenance though. Stay safe, keep the rubber side down also.
Yo bro... Long time no hear from. Hope all and the family are doing well. I'm still riding the Springfield and enjoying it. Hope to see more videos and stay safe.
Great review. I am loving my 2015. Almost 23K on it now. I have very few complaints with it. The biggest one is where they put that oil sight glass. I have to say that never made sense. I too am considering an FJR for the next purchase.
Thanks for watching. Yes how about that sight window. Lol. I usually have to balance the bike with a jack stand on the opposite side, and a level on the gas tank. Then kneel down and check the levels. I test rode a FJR. It was different. I'm currently at 23k right now, and thinking I'll film another review at 30k or 40, not sure.
excellent review. thank you. I'm looking for a two-up ride for the wife and I. I currently ride an FZ-07 around town and to work. I'm looking used and my two choices so far are Honda VTX 1300 or an FJR1300. kind of leaning to the FJR but this review is wicked (I'm from Maine) helpful. thanks again
+Truth Divides hello , and thanks for watching. Well with the VTX they are great bikes , I can't think of anything bad to say . Just be sure it's efi .. the fjr1300 currently the only model I would go for is the 2016 due to the recent changes they just made. I really would want the 6th gear, especially with the inline 4. When buying a bike for 2 up, you really have to consider how much 2 up riding you will do I think out of the 3 I would choose the fjr1300 for the adjustable windshield 6th gear and refined inline 4. Next would be my vstar 1300 . Stay safe.
Right on man. Question for ya, Have you seen anyone do H-D Lower fairings on a vstar 1300 deluxe yet? I am thinking about putting some on my 1300 deluxe with extra speakers to give myself a reason to upgrade my amp.
I do know someone did install some , bit I don't think they were from a HD. I believe the guy is on the fb vstar 1300 rooms. Or vstar1300wiki. Red in color. Not sure if he had speakers though.
Thank you . I tried to cover everything, and then cut the time down. Bit. It was just so much to tell, and talk about. Thank you for watching , stay safe.
Tony Marin thank you again. I am thinking about another long term review at 35k.. currently at 15k and installed some progressive springs with new 10wt fluid , and will start the rear progressive shock install maybe tomorrow. Also got a set of Mikexs blind spot mirrors to put on, and my tri lamp set up with Led bulbs swapped in (H3).
I am still working on mine, slowly, cut the windshield myself, add crash bar, highway pegs, seat I went with Mustang since I have them in my v Star 950 but I did look at yours specially the regular one since it lower me 3/4", I am a little short leg, long torso but short leg, and I would like to place both feet flat on the ground, added some LED rear lighting in between saddle bag and frame with the back up flasher, exhaust I believe I am going to keep it the way it is not to crazy about noise, I had enough in the ARMY paying the price now, I just order a new handle bar from Dennis Kirk with an additional 2" back pull back. I am working on a stereo sound with a Bluetooth speaker nothing fancy but it does the work, is coming the way I want. I do not want to get to crazy like I did with my 950 then again I did enjoy her to the last minute. I am going to go slooowwwlly this time with the 1300T. I do like the tank hole, did you pull it out or just hammer the holes iin it.
Tony Marin Thank you for your service . With the tank Mod, I just filled the tank up fuel then covered up the tank around the opening. I then punched holes in, starting with a reamer, then using some file bits, I had laying around , then eventually to make them even bigger a big screwdriver I had . When you get your bars installed share a pic to my Facebook page at ... facebook.com/dbest1a/ I would be interested to see how it looks, and hear how you like it. I would like to upgrade the deluxe amp n speakers, but gonna wait till next season. I spent enough money this year, and the wife is ready to kill me lol. Rest of the year I'll just do maintenance. What are your thoughts on the 1300 vs the 950, being as you downed both.
Nice second review on this bike. Your coming right along with it... I have a question maybe you can help me with. I had asked you on the first review what wind deflector you used and you told me it was a Memphis Shades. I have been trying to get one but for some reason they are telling me that they do not make one for this bike. Well obviously they do offer one that fits. I was in hope you may be able to supply a part # of the one you got. Any help will be appreciated...
I don't know if anyone else caught what you said "at 70 mpr your bike is doing about 3800 rpm in 5th gear" . but that's only close to true if you are in 3rd or 4th gear. But yea, those are big bags. I have Vstar 1300T and the Stratoliner 1900
On a 1300? No way .. that would mean you have a 6th gear. There was a gear ratio calculator on line. Let me see if I can find it. Unless you meant your strat.
Found it .. people.delphiforums.com/az1100custmn/YamahaSpeedCalculator.htm So our 2 tire sizes usually used 180/65/16 n stock 170/70/16 For the 180/65 u will see 3250 gets you to "about" 70.. the 170/70 .
No, I meant the Vstar, if you have the Stock tire size and belt pullys, I'd have to stay that maybe as high as 2800 rpm at 70mpr, But I haven't noticed an RPM readout on my 1300 vstar. I think the stock Stratoliner is about 2700 at 70 mph
AceZee1 if I overfill past the filler neck , about 200ish before the light came on -at which point I had a gallon left. If I don't overfill, and fill to the bottom of the neck... about 180 the light comes on . By then you want to stop anyhow. On my last trip last year to smokey mountains I was doing about 150 to 180 mile stops..
awesome bike and tastefully done. can you explain the advantage again though of the vented windshield? and also, have you had any passengers with you on a long ride? how comfortable were they after a long time?
Trevor Schmitt Longest distance so far for the wife n I, is about 250 so far. I put an airhawk on the rear seat, which gave her a little more comfort. She wouldn't mind having the rear tour pack on the back... but I'm not sure I want all that weight back there. I changed the rear shock out to the progressive. So know hitting bumps while 2 up is barely felt, once I figured out the rebound. The Ceebaileys has the vent, which is a nice addition, it does bring extra air in toward the helmet. You get buffeting with this fairing, so fork lowers is a must to clean up the air from below. Any other questions don't be afraid to ask. Facebook - facebook.com/dbest1a
I'm about to put about 1700+ round trip on mine for the first week of owning it. Should be a great break in week for me. Thank you for sharing all your tips. Awesome reviews! Thank you! 😊
@@dbest1aVlogs Mine is used, new to me. It's a 2007 with hardly any miles. Tsu? fairing, Cobra full exhaust with Baron intake, etc. It's loaded. Will arrive by Tuesday and riding out Fri. So, yeah, I'll have a huge break in period this week. I cannot wait. My last bike was backed into at my Dad's home a few weeks ago (totaled and my heart was broken). I'm worried about the bars and maybe needing a triple tree for deflection. Stereo is Rockford Fosgate. I'm adding my own gps. I saw where you get more mpg vs stopping which is awesome! I hope I have better luck with the Mustang seat, I'll let you know on that one. Eek! I have seen every review of yours and you're so polished. A huge thank you! 😊😊
tyler7370 Sure , it is a edseat this model is the big touring. I'm 5'11 210. The seat has is a bit bigger than the standard seat . Site is edseatsusa.com/ Mike is a great guy to deal with . Mention you saw it on this video. They are also on Facebook as edseat usa
I hate they only do yamaha seats. I have a Honda shadow aero 750 and I'm 6'1" and the seat sits too deep causing my back to arch when I sit for a long period. I like how shallow that seat is. I guess I'll just have to get some padding and build it up myself.
Love your videos. I just got 2013 V Star 1300 Deluxe and I am looking for fork deflectors. Would you tell what is the model number of clamps. Thanks a lot.
I don’t have the info on the clamps anymore. I know someone asked me earlier in the comments. I was looking through n couldn’t find that. You can ask on the Vstar 1300 FB forum.
I was just listening to the audio while doing some things around the house. You have a nice voice. You should look into voice work. Reading books, narrating, etc. just a thought.
Nice Review Dbest, I'm a new rider and have a Vstar 650. Been riding since May and have been riding pretty much every day since I got it. Looking to upgrade sometime next year and really like the 1300 deluxe especially after watching your videos. Any additional info about the bike that you think is good to know? Thanks again man!
Kevin Smith Thanks you for watching, and congrats on joining the world of two wheels. If you wanted to jump to a 1300, the jump would be easier than you may think. I would only say if you want the best deal, shop around for a leftover year. There are many of them around for almost 5 to 6k off. If going used, it's easy to find a good deal on one with many hop up parts already installed, which would net you a bike that is just , "ready to roll". You can also browse the Vstar 1300 wiki forum, just google those words, and you will find the site. Most mods people make I have spoke about in the video, but add exhaust also. Most like to change out the exhaust pipes. Some get the bike with the glass windshield, and add their own Memphis shades shields , or whatever other brand they get. All depends on individual needs, and wants.
Thanks D, for the info. I'm really excited about this bike and have narrowed it down to this bike. I was originally thinking 950 touring but feel I may want something bigger within a short period of time. My thought is why not go right to the 1300. As you can tell, I am a big Vstar fan. I have looked at different forums and have even been on cycle trader. Have seen some pretty good deals here in Pennsylvania for this bike and will definitely shop around. Thanks again and keep those reviews coming. Your informed reviews have made a big impact on me wanting this bike. Your mods are amazing bro.
Kevin Smith good to know you are finding some places to look for bikes. Actually when I fought this bike in 2015 as a 2014 leftover, I was originally buying a 950 tourer for 8000 dollars in New Jersey. Brand new 0 miles 2014 leftover. Then I went to the dealer, and they couldn't find the tittle ..lol , walked around and saw this 1300 and instantly loved it. It was 2k more, but I didn't care. Lol usually I do. Anyhow long story short I took it home within the next few days.
Kevin Smith also when you go to buy , if used ..... some questions to ask are ... 1. If the mileage is over 16000 has the valve adjustment been done? If no .. bargain to reduce price. 2. This is a liquid cooled bike, so ask when have they flushed the anti freeze. You can kneel down on the BRAKE side of the bike and look under the bike to see the coolant res. What's the color. Dark , dirty.. slightly green .. poke around.. 3. Ask how old the tires are , if more than 7k ask if they changed tires yet.. if not you can bargain.. 4. Ask if bike has ever been dropped.. check under rear saddle bags for rash ... If they let you test ride it , you will hear some gear whine, you can hear it in my other videos, may hear a little valve noise depending on type of oil used. 5. If you find one with an ultimate seat, that's a bonus .. Best of luck.
Just got my v-star 1300 and noticed ur fork mounted wind deflectors. I tried to purchase them from Memphis Shades and got mixed up on how to purchase them. Could not figure out how to get the mounting brackets. If u would be so kind as to tell me what the part numbers u used or how to purchase them. I call Memphis Shade and the lady on the phone had no idea what I was talking about. Help. Thanks. PS I am now a subscriber.
Yes I had found your reply, I am not so interested in the deflector itself but in the mounting bracket. I went on live to Memphis Shade and told them they should give the diameters that their brackets would fit. If I know the diameter range I can then buy the mounting bracket that would fit my bike. Only answer I got was I don’t know.
Dbest1a’s Ride Name is Bill and I want to thank u for any help u can administer. I am also going to get the cee Bailey vented windshield. I am also going to purchase the handlebars also. I am 5’10” so I am going to endeavor and build my bike like urs. Wouldn’t want to just trade bikes, would u? Just kidding. Thanks
William Kennedy I found this info from an old screen shot. Took me a while to find, but it's the mount I used . Memphis Shndes Mount Kit for Fork MEK1934-2321-0166 Vehicle
I have no complaints with my ED big touring. It was really comfortable on a trip I took in 2016. One of the big pluses for me was the waterproof covering. There was no need for an added cover. I have never tried an ultimate, but have a friend that uses one with no complaints.
u ever get butt sore or your passenger? I spoke with Mike yesterday at ED, he sounded very convincing, just cant find much feedback about the seat. Theres plenty on the ultimate, just curious, thanks for your info.
piperpilot1975 Hey no problem. If you have a question don't worry about asking. The passenger backrest is a cobra backrest. I would assume a mid or high. It wasn't new when I got it so there was no information on it. (Got it used) . It does come up to the middle of my wife's back though.
The shape was nice , the design was really nice. I just for some reason got pins n needles riding 150 miles to lake George. My wife loved the rear seat, I couldn't wait to get off mine. I am not sure if it was foam related or what. I just know I would go numb n it would hurt. I don't get that now with the ED seat though.
I haven't been using the go pro much in vlogs . I'm using the Xioami yi 2 . Also using in my hand in this video, though I forgot to turn on the image stabilization. When I use the go pro which is a 3+ I'll use 60fps if I want a smoother overall image, or just 30fps in 1080 to let things blur a bit . depends on where mounted, and where riding .
I think I had rstd bars in this video, would have to look again. Anyhow I did have rstd bars on , but I didn't like the wrist angle. I ended up swapping to some paul yaffe classic bagger bars. You can see that in the maintenance playlist. The stock 2014 bars are wider than my rstd or my bagger bars.. the bagger bars have more rise, and the rstd have the most pullback.
Dbest1a’s Ride mine is a 2008 so I have the large chrome cover on the intake and other side. Where did you find that night rider LED light I have been looking and can't find one? I also want people to see me
Tyler Thrash oh the 13 n up I think comes with that little cover. It’s just for looks. Does nothing. The knight rider light I got from custom dynamics, but you can find them on eBay.
I just bought a 2014 deluxe the same color. I’m trying to find a Bluetooth receiver option so I can utilize all the remote buttons on the handle bars. So far if I connect the 30 pin cable to my old iPhone it only does volume. I couldn’t find your mpow video you mentioned. Can you put in a link? Thanks
ruclips.net/video/geJAR1MQa4M/видео.html The pin connection will work with the old iPhone's, but better with old iPods. Supposedly you can use the direction arrows to change song. I never used this though, it was just annoying lol. I used this same above method, but changed to a newer updated mpow set up I got from amazon. I still T into the system like the video shows though. Link.. amzn.to/2MQVyoh With this set up, I can connect the phone and play music as needed. I run a s10+ which allows me to separate bluetooth signals. So phone calls can go to my headset and music to the mpow.
Great review, I am thinking about getting a bigger bike and I am tossing around between the Yamaha VSTAR 1300 and the Honda VTX 1300. Videos like these are helping me making my decision. One question, do you live in the Northeast? I am from Ct. just curious Thank you again for posting!
Yes I am in New York . I haven't ridden a vtx1300, though I am curious how they would compare. Some people like to buy the Vstar naked, and put the fairing and bags on themselves. Just depends on what you prefer. I got this as a leftover for less than a current model.
Thank you. great video; one questions. your saddlebags, where did you get them. like the size.. putting a stryker front gear in your bike, how big of a difference on your speed. faster or lower. Thank you.
This is a deluxe model, so saddle bags are stock. The Stryker gear would lower rpm by approximately 100 rpm I believe at 70mph in 5th .. If I remember right. I still have the stock gear in . Thank you for watching. I currently have 33k on the bike n it's been a joy.
@@dbest1aVlogs I ride in a 1300 tourer. I really enjoyed your video as i forward to a friend who also rides a 1300. I'm going to look into the saddlebags. Thank you and ride safe.
Thank you very much . I appreciate you watching, and sharing. That means a lot, shoot just watching alone is hugely appreciated hehe. If you want I could send you some stickers and pens. Just shoot an addy to dbest1a@gmail.com - Bruce
That's a Ceebailey shield for the Deluxe fairing. Really do like it. I did have to cut it down an inch though. I believe it came as a 10" n I cut it to 9"s. Nicer to see over.
R.D. STAKXXX LLC. Almes I feel mine does pretty good when I want to pin it. It ain't no speed triple, or fj09 though haha. I usually just cruise around now a days. I might get a little hype through 1st n 2nd then shut it down. I've had it up to 100, and to be honest it was fun, but not my ideal. Other than speed..... The Bike was great on a trip I took in 2016 .. riding highway down to South Carolina from ny.. I was cruising pretty much 65 to 70. One point I got on the highway the wrong way 95 north when I was supposed to be going south. I went 21 damn miles out my way , and once turned around I was doing 85 to get back on route. I was supposed to be heading out to the tail of the dragon area ... (video in playlists). Anyhow .. handling on the bike at 80 plus isn't bad,.... with my low shield (well low to me, it was windy, but nice). Btw if you ever get the Chance you have to see the Smokey mountains are... it's worth the visit.
In this video they may be the rstd bars from sscustom cycles. I have since swapped to a set of Paul Paul yaffe classic bagger bars 10". The styker gear , most like . It wasn't for me though.
The gear.. I felt it took away some of the bikes spunk when I would ride spirited.. maybe fine for some. The bars.. I didn't like my wrist angle , maybe just me , but didn't work for me ... I'd sell em, but shipping is a pain. Where are you located..
Lol, so you know my pain. Did you do it yourself? It's amazing how something like shield height can drive you absolutely insane. Once I did it, I thought omg.... Why did I wit so long to do this.
Ain't that bike a very close kissing cousins to the Royal Star Venture they look a lot alike I believe they have the same motor I would love to have your opinion thank you
Question, after your experience with the vStar, would you buy the same bike all over again if you got your money back?... If not what would be the bike you'd buy instead... Also if someone can't afford the vStar what other bike would you recommend in lieu of your beautiful vStar?
That's difficult for me to imagine, cause when I went to the dealer it way for this bike. I went to the dealer for a vstar 950. They could not find the title , so when I went inside I saw this one. I loved the look of it. In the price was about $2000 more than the 950. So I took it. At the time when I was looking I was looking for motorcycle under $10000. I was not really looking for many other motorcycles, but would maybe consider a sport Tourer. I did consider the Suzuki C90T tourer, and was looking at options from Kawasaki. The Suzuki C90T BOSS was very hard to find, everywhere was out of stock.
Have you had any oil leakage from the bottom of the bike. I’ll link a video of what one bike was doing, and mine is also though not as bad. Also the bike calls for 20w40 oil but that is hard to find. What do you use. I have the 2007 model when they first came out. Just picked it up used. Here is the oil leak link. ruclips.net/video/BDQI0xjbTHs/видео.html. How much was your shield.
The Ceebailey shield was steep , like 300+ lol. Eek. They don't make them anymore though. I had to cut it down an inch cause it was always in the way. No leaks. Though a possible place is a little spot I think with a bolt holding in a small divider that has 2 o rings on it . It's near the oil drain bolt. The O rings go bad, and have to be replaced. Sometimes can leak, but you will know if it is leaking .. The oil drain plug has a crush washer, so they should be replaced every oil change. I use the copper ones I found on ebay , God knows when. I would clean the bike fully, wash it down . Clean the underside. Then ride , park and look for the source. I run rotell t6 or t4 oil.
@@dbest1aVlogs OK thanks for your help. Someone else had mentioned about the O rings; but I called the dealer and they said the seal between the cylinders was going bad. You think their lying to me?
That depends on if you brought it to them to look at. I would spray the bike down (motor) with a mild vwhicle degreaser and then wash it down . Then you could see the source after a ride. It will reappear, and leave a trace. If from the jug area, you will really know quick. Look to see what stays clean and what gets dirty. Download the service manual from tbe wiki , Google vstat 1300 wiki. Then Check the files section for it. That's maybe the easiest way to decode the offender
@@dbest1aVlogs thanks for the reply. Yes I know where the leak is coming from. It is very noticeable. I just mentioned it to the dealership and they knew right away what I was talking about. They mentioned what it’s called but I don’t remember. It’s the same place as the guy in the video I sent you. Is the jug area the correct term? I have the owners Manuel. It doesn’t mention anything like that.
Yep 4 years Later and your video is still helping riders. I just bought a 2013 v star 1300 Deluxe and found your video. Great info thank you!
I am glad that you find them useful, and they help. I need to make a 41k video review of it too. Stay safe, and enjoy the ride.
Thanks,
HJB
Hey awesome comment . thank you for the feedback on your experience with yor vstar. They truly are awesome bikes. As you state with the oversquare motor, this bike likes to rev. I also notice you can down shift and blib the throttle almost like a sport bike ... haha... it's nuts.
I test rode the victory magnum. I didn't care for the 21" wheel. The stock cc I did like better. That one had a 19" wheel which made handeling feel a bit better. I have been contemplating adding a 19" wheel in the future. I think it would set the bike off nice.
@@dbest1aVlogs you should put the raider or Stryker front rim on, low N mean front fender and radiator cover!
Great review. I love my 2007 Vstar 1300 too. Mine isn't the prettiest girl at the prom but man can she dance. :-) Take care.
Thanks for watching Sam, they are great bikes indeed. I really would like to take it on a tour through a few states , hopefully soon. I'm wondering if Yamaha will bring their cruiser line out for 2017... It doesn't look they will be...
I know. I hope they do too. I think I will have many more adventures on mine but I might out live her.
Enjoyed your review, what a great looking bike and amazing changes you made. Thanks for posting.
Great review. Mods look very nice. Definitely gave me some ideas as to what to do to my 1300. Safe riding bro...
thank you good Sir .. thanks for watching and stay safe.
Just get a $5 telescoping mirror, sit on the bike, get it level and hold the mirror down in front of the site glass.
Great review. Love your customizing.!
Ian Curnow Thank you . Appreciate you watching and commenting.
excellent review.
When buying a bike for 2 up, you really have to consider how much 2 up riding you will do
I think out of the 3 I would choose the fjr1300 for the adjustable windshield 6th gear and refined inline 4. Next would be my vstar 1300 .
Stay safe.
Nice review bro, good to see what you've done and that your happy with it, RSMF.
Thank you , appreciate you watching ..
awesome review man. i would say you should totally look into the tag laydown look. I did it to my 1300 deluxe and it is a very sharp look.
shu4208 I have read that review on the 1300 wiki site. Just have to see if it will still work with my kniterider light
Great revew. I want to take a vstar as my touring bike. Liked the video
Thank you, hope you find one you like. There are plenty out there with tons of mods, or just stock.
I like what you did to the bike bro. Looks great!
Thank you Vac , I know there are so many ways we can take a vehicle with customization.
Man you have done quite a bit to it! looks good. Ride safe and enjoy.
Thank you . I tried to cover everything, and then cut the time down. Bit. It was just so much to tell, and talk about. Thank you for watching , stay safe.
Nice bike and nice review. Best to you Dbest1a!
+faith biker Thank you . Appreciate you watching. Stay safe
+faith biker Thank you . Appreciate you watching. Stay safe
Another great vlog. Bike looks really good!
Thanks you sir . Appreciate you taking the time to watch ..
Yw!
glad I found you. have a Yamaha V Star 1300 Deluxe 2015 I want to change my tank is that possible?
Jackie Cali I am sure you could get a custom one done up. You would just have to find. Fabricator you trust.
Great reviews, thanks from Australia
Hey Thank you for watching
Thanks for your great video and the info, it does come really handy. I do own a 2015 1300T, love mine too, and I will use your advise, thanks again
Tony Marin No problem. thank you for taking the time to watch . I know I missed a thing or two here or there, but tried to cover most of my changes.
You are doing a great job, there is no many comments regarding V Star 1300 and you are doing a great job, thanks you again.
When you get your bars installed share a pic to my Facebook page at ... facebook.com/dbest1a/
I would be interested to see how it looks, and hear how you like it.
Any help will be appreciated...
thank you .. let me check the forums for the part #s.
The mounts part # is MEM9891 ... Gotta look for the deflectors .. Email me if anything ... eBay price is in the 50s
Here is the other part number for the long deflector.. Took me a little bit to find .. Long fork deflectors # 2350-0143
I don't know if anyone else caught what you said "at 70 mpr your bike is doing about 3800 rpm in 5th gear" . but that's only close to true if you are in 3rd or 4th gear. But yea, those are big bags. I have Vstar 1300T and the Stratoliner 1900
It's really between 3000 to 3300 .. probably 3100 with a 170/70 rear tire. 5th gear.
that is pretty dang high, I haven't checked mine at 70 mpr, but I would guessed about 2600-2700
On a 1300? No way .. that would mean you have a 6th gear. There was a gear ratio calculator on line. Let me see if I can find it.
Unless you meant your strat.
Found it ..
people.delphiforums.com/az1100custmn/YamahaSpeedCalculator.htm
So our 2 tire sizes usually used 180/65/16 n stock 170/70/16
For the 180/65 u will see 3250 gets you to "about" 70.. the 170/70 .
Great video and review, what faring(batwing) and gps do you have there? Im looking for a long time, and yours is the exactly i wanted.
That's stock on the 1300 deluxe from yamaha
How many miles are you getting for the whole tank?

I'm about to put about 1700+ round trip on mine for the first week of owning it. Should be a great break in week for me. Thank you for sharing all your tips. Awesome reviews! Thank you! 😊
That's awesome and congrats. Did you pass 600 yet? First oil change is at 600. Look forward to hearing about your trip. Be safe.
I have the Tourer not the Deluxe. One step down. Motor the same, which is the main concern. For me. Lost out of a 2014.
I love that seat. Could I get the make and model of the seat if you dont mind?
tyler7370 Sure , it is a edseat this model is the big touring.
I guess I'll just have to get some padding and build it up myself.
ah yes. I know Sargent seats in Florida does custom seats also to how you like them .
Thank you anyway. Great videos.
Did you change out your front turn signals when you added the lower shades on? My shades hit the turn signals and highway bars
piperpilot1975 No. I just put pushed the shades all the way up, as far up ok n the indicator as it would stand
Thanks for the video of all your mods! I have to ask tho, where do you have your XM radio antenna mounted, as I could not see it on your bike?
ajtrumble1 They XM radio is mounted under the front fairing, along with the other speaker components.
Thank you for watching.
I was just listening to the audio while doing some things around the house. You have a nice voice. You should look into voice work. Reading books, narrating, etc. just a thought.
Thank you very much . I've never thought of that . It will be something I'll keep in thought .. Dbest1as storytime at 9 hehe. I love it.
Will do! Thanks again for your expertise!
I had someone else ask that in the comments below. Take a look. I'll look also n see if I see it.
William Kennedy Give me a few days .. I'll check through my notes
Took me a while to find, but it's the mount I used .

excellent review. Thank you
Thank you. Appreciate you taking the time to watch.
I ride a Shadow 750 now... Yamaha 1300 will be my next bike 👍
Check out the vstar 1300 Facebook forums. Great info there . Also lots of searchable data.
HOw do u like the ED seat? I got a 2014, looking at either an ED seat or Ultimate?
I have no complaints with my ED big touring. It was really comfortable on a trip I took in 2016. One of the big pluses for me was the waterproof covering. There was no need for an added cover. I have never tried an ultimate, but have a friend that uses one with no complaints.
u ever get butt sore or your passenger? I spoke with Mike yesterday at ED, he sounded very convincing, just cant find much feedback about the seat. Theres plenty on the ultimate, just curious, thanks for your info.
Sorry one more question, your sissy bar, is that standard or the tall bar
piperpilot1975 Hey no problem. If you have a question don't worry about asking. The passenger backrest is a cobra backrest. I would assume a mid or high. It wasn't new when I got it so there was no information on it. (Got it used) .
It does come up to the middle of my wife's back though.
What about butt soreness, you or the wife ever get any?
Nice ride, and nice vid.
Thank you for taking the time to watch.
I do have a 42k update video coming in a few weeks.
Would you say the Mustang was a bit too firm? Or was it the shape of it. Thanks an Happy Roads.
Bruce, what settings are you using on the GoPro? 30fps or 60? Do you turn ProTune on or off......I'm not getting as smooth of video as you......
Also should say my main camera here isn't a go pro . It's a LUMIX gh4
You have a link where you purchased the Cree LED headlight?
FiremanMaverick I bought it on Amazon.com . 1 single H4.
Did you change out your handlebars? I have seen quite a few who said the RSTD bars fwork better, but I noticed this on older models
That cover on the side you are standing what did you replace it with
Which side?
Thanks
ruclips.net/video/geJAR1MQa4M/видео.html
The pin connection will work with the old iPhone's, but better with old iPods. Supposedly you can use the direction arrows to change song. I never used this though, it was just annoying lol. I used this same above method, but changed to a newer updated mpow set up I got from amazon. I still T into the system like the video shows though.
Link..
amzn.to/2MQVyoh
With this set up, I can connect the phone and play music as needed.
Nice bike br
Los pijullos Sonpopo thank you , ride safe.
Will that seat or a similar one fit a 2009 vstar 950 tourer ? Same question for the Memphis shades lowers. Please post links. Good video. Ty
You would have to contact ed seats through Facebook or their website. I never saw a 950 that I could try.
Thank you. great video; one questions. your saddlebags, where did you get them. like the size.. putting a stryker front gear in your bike, how big of a difference on your speed. faster or lower.
Omg. Your windshield. The vent your bike came that way or buy the windshield with the vent in it than add to your bike. Sorry am new so much to learn.
Thank you very much . I appreciate you watching, and sharing. That means a lot, shoot just watching alone is hugely appreciated hehe. If you want I could send you some stickers and pens. Just shoot an addy to dbest1a@gmail.com

That's a Ceebailey shield for the Deluxe fairing. Really do like it. I did have to cut it down an inch though. I believe it came as a 10" n I cut it to 9"s. Nicer to see over.
I had a 2011 Stryker and hated the the 1st an 2nd gear because of the jerkiness. Did the remapping help?
Yes big time. That's gone..
I just looked at a twin to this here in Vegas for like $7400
R.D. STAKXXX LLC. Almes A great deal, and price . The 15 and 16 offered some different color choices also.
Thanks for watching, and commenting.
Dbest1a’s Ride . Tell me Family, can it get itself out of its own way?. I only ask because I rode an Eluder and was not Impressed at all bro.
If you wanted a 6 speed and a bike with more CCs, you should have got a bigger bike?
TomsReviews Is that a question or statement?
I have the same bike same model I would love to know exactly what the handlebars are and if the striker gear work cuz I agree with you
In this video they may be the rstd bars from sscustom cycles. I have since swapped to a set of Paul Paul yaffe classic bagger bars 10". The styker gear , most like . It wasn't for me though.
@@dbest1aVlogs did you want to sell the other bars and what didn't you like about the strike again did it was a too high of a gear
The gear.. I felt it took away some of the bikes spunk when I would ride spirited.. maybe fine for some.
The bars.. I didn't like my wrist angle , maybe just me , but didn't work for me ... I'd sell em, but shipping is a pain. Where are you located..
New hampshire
Sorry Tilton Nh 03276
Nice bike . I also had to cut down the wind shield on my electra glide it was just to high for my short butt haha Take care
Lol, so you know my pain. Did you do it yourself? It's amazing how something like shield height can drive you absolutely insane. Once I did it, I thought omg.... Why did I wit so long to do this.
ya I cut it down myself and sanded it etc .. mush better now
much been up to long haha time to leave work in about 25 minutes after a 12 hour night shift .
What Horse power is a 1300 ?
Maybe 80 or so..
It looks great! :-)
Christian100773 thank you
exellente machine.
Thank you .
Ain't that bike a very close kissing cousins to the Royal Star Venture they look a lot alike I believe they have the same motor I would love to have your opinion thank you
Clarence Swope No different motor . I believe the RSV was a V4. If I'm not mistaken.
Is anyone here going to note the fact that he rode it 2 more miles than 12666?
