My trouble was this repair only lasted about 2 direct hits from the ball before knocking back and staying knocked back -- then the straight surface aimed worse than before down at the flipper.
Sounds like you didn't make it tight enough... Nobody plays a game "harder" than MAT & this mod holds up for him just fine. Try again sir!
I see what you did there, basically created a slot. Right thing to do would be to get a new piece made, but at least you can't tell it's been modified. Pretty easy fix.
"Get a new piece made" is easier said than done. These didn't used to be available (some applications) in the aftermarket. Then they were. Now it appears that they might not be again... Fill us in on how to get a new piece made! ;)
If you scan it (and know where it needs to be), you can import that image into any vector software (say draftsight for instance), trace the shape. Once you have that, you can send it out to any laser cutter vendor for a reasonable price
