@@GoodandPlanty when my best friends uncle passed away I guess he was kind of a hoarder. When we were cleaning up his farm house I found a gigantic bag of little old bottles like you would put a cork in, and test tubes. Cleaned them and now I have endless prop bottles
Propagation is so neat. Sometimes when I check on my propagations I just think about how wild it is that you can just cut off a part of a plant and make a new one Like imagine if we could cut off parts of our bodies, stick them in sphag, and make new humans 😂
Just got some sphagnum moss and am excited to see results with pothos propagation plants. My friend has had amazing success putting the propagation plants in water AND rocks! Trying that as well.
I'm growing some humidity loving plants in water and pumice, super pretty in glass vessels. Flamingo Lily has bright green water roots! I've also got a Syngonium and a Peace Lily in water/pumice. I add water from our fish tank to water I've let sit out a few days to top up the vessels.
Just wanted to say I have binged watched your videos and I love your video style! I’m just starting to get into collecting indoor plants so your videos have helped me a lot! :)
I’ve been propagating weeping moss in different setups in plastic bins. Using different mixes of peat and soil mixes. As well as humidity levels. Do you have moss videos by chance?
I know this is old but I don't lose anything asking lol. Do you need to have holes o something in propagation boxes? I have a little one now and I'm scared of it developing fungus or something :O I and the one on the glass container, does it have to have holes under it? Loved the video, so useful!
I enjoyed your video! I, too, water propagate houseplants regularly w success. I just got “spagmoss” and am surfing YT looking for instructions bc mine didn’t come w any. I’m not sure how much water to add to this block. Lol
Do I need a green house/ homemade green house to propagate in moss? It’s cold here I’m in Chicago. I just got my moss in from Amazon but it’s chilly in my house especially at night. Will they still propagate in a closed bin with moss ?
I love propagating begonia in water just because they’re roots are so fragile, I don’t have to worry about taking the spagh out and possibly ripping the roots. But iiiiii, also, still have mixed feelings on spagh 😂 love your propagation set up too 💚
Thanks for sharing. The polka dot begonia will root in water, I propagated and was successful, I want to use warm water for cuttings because now is winter, can I use warm tap water? Thank you.
Just checking for clarification as its been hard to find this info... When Propping in Sphagum moss in a container, do you put in bright indirect light? Or do you keep in in low light? Thank you
this was so great! thank you for the vid. would you mind elaborating on your watering method? i read that you first want to soak the moss for a bit, then squeeze the water out, then gently water every once in a while. you mention merely spraying it - will this soak everything enough?
i do the soak/squeeze for the first time i’m setting up the prop station. after that, i spray until the moss is damp. going in with a watering can would be too much for that container. sometimes for my props in nursery pots with drainage i lightly water. it kind of depends on the container you’re using/how much moss is in there. hope that helps!
I liked your video! So sweet and elegante way!! Congrats. I am a grandma,78!! Love to propagate, sometimes I put my cuttings in many little pots with soil and then place them into a big pot or container with soil. Keep this soil wet. Water is my favorite one. Best wishes!!
Hi! Thank for the video! I wanted to propagate some callisia repens that was not doing well on the original plant. I had some cuttings that I just put in a plastic cup with sphagnum moss. Do I have to cover it up or I can leave it with no lid? The cup is blurred transparent plastic. Can you let me know? Thanks :)
very well! she pushed out tons of roots and even a baby while in water. sadly, i neglected her once transferring to soil so we will see if she makes it 😅
my favorite moss is from amazon (i have it linked in the description). i’ve also found some decent moss at big box stores marked as orchid moss. local shops may carry it too but at a higher price.
My potted peperomia propagations are finally growing new leaves! Well, my clumsy ass touched it and one baby leaf fell off 🤦, but there are more on the way 😅.

I looove seeing people’s propogations. I sit at my desk and chop at my plants and put them in little test tubes like every night. So cute
i LOVE the test tube prop stations. that will have to be my next prop purchase 🤩

thank you tatiana!! my go to is DEFINITELY water propping...it's just too easy 😭
What a great idea to use a glass jewelry box as a propagation box. I may need to try.
I highly recommend it! I've been doing it for months and the only, small downside is some rust.
Rain water is liquid gold for water propagation, your roots will be strong and healthy. Happy planting 🤗🌱

Did you let the Zz plant leaves callous overnight or did you just put them into the moss ? I have a container waiting for them !

i thought i was hallucinating when the camera started falling down

My sphagnum grew white fluff on it. Too much moisture I assume. Should I throw it out and use New moss ir just left it dry out
Can you use fresh sphagnum moss for the cuttings Kat?
Please please please do a video for how to transfer the Peperomia into soil!! Also, how long did you let it callous?
I left it out for maybe an hour! I'll try to do a prop update for ya 🥰
Hi! I have a question, after we use the spogmoss for some cuttings, it can be reuse or we have to throw away?
hi joceline! i reuse my spagh as long as the plants that were in it prior were healthy.

The worst part about sphagnum is getting the moss of the roots again. I haaate it. But I still use it sometimes
oh 100000% i have ripped roots off because of sphag before
Just leave it a bit of it on, it seems to help to transition to soil, especially for those of us who..ehem...forget to water freshly potted props..

Watch a video on steves leaves for the best begonia propagation tips. I love your methods on these plants you have here though. Great tips!
So no rooting powder or fertiliser for the moss? Just water? 😯 I'm about to try it and I thought I needed more than just water and sphagnum moss 🌱
you can use those but you definitely don't have to
is it necessary to take the moss out of the roots??
I'm so bad with peperomia prop but everything else 👌👌
they aren't always easy so i don't blame you! i have to be super careful about rot with the ones in the boxes.

like 1-2 weeks!

i love the way you think 😂
Now that my spag props are growing how do I move my props to soil?
You just plant them and keep up the waterings, at least the first couple of weeks so as to avoid root shock (from a humid environment to a drier one).
Yuh spag is cool until you gota repot smh. But spag is really awesome for root growth
