Steam Over Spencer 2023

- On the first weekend of March 2023, the former Southern Railway backshop in Spencer, NC played host to a gathering of steam locomotives - in Gauge 1 scale!
Organized by Jay Kovac of The Train Department and the North Carolina Transportation Museum, "Steam Over Spencer" was the first event of its kind ever held here. With four layouts set up for display, visitors were able to witness miniature steam locomotives of all shapes and sizes put on a show! From small tank engines to the massive Union Pacific "Challenger" and C&O "Allegheny", there was no shortage of action during the entire weekend!
The success of this event has prompted NCTM and The Train Department to make it an annual gathering. Details on the next "Steam Over Spencer" will be given at NCTM's website (www.nctranspor...), with The Train Department providing registration info at their own website (thetraindepart....

I don’t have a video on the history of Baldwin, but there is a nice article about it in the Trains Magazine special issue “Steaming the Last Baldwin” (which is about WMSR/C&O 1309).
