Europe has such awesome design in transportation... The buses, metro trains here in Montreal are up to 50 years old! There are new metro trains, but they are not functioning properly on the existing system... Oh well. Thanks for uploading this video.
Ha ha! In Chicago we have new el/subway cars (which aren’t necessarily an improvement over the old: more room for riders is great, but windows being sealed shut is claustrophobic), but they ride on miles of 100-year-old track that’s in dire need of repair. 🤷♂️
Fantastic video, BEAUTIFUL tram cars, both functionally and aesthetically, and yet ANOTHER example of how the USA fails to maintain and improve our existing infrastructure. Most American cities, if they have mass transit, are using 30-year old rolling stock, and if its new, is still based on 30-year old rolling stock! Here in Chicago, our elevated trains and subways still look ancient, and not in a quaint way! This is an example of moving forward! Quiet, clean, and beautiful. Congratulations, Luxembourg City!
D See Tempe just got new rolling stock in Arizona. San Francisco got new rolling stock this year! Just as futuristic looking. Portland trains look ancient even when they’re brand new. Same with Tucson, AZ
Just watched this with my son. If we cannot go to Luxembourg, at least we get the chance to see it and this modern and stylish trams. Thank you. Greetings from BiH
I don't think it is "track power", I believe the trams run on battery when there are no power lines overhead. Its a system that is now also in use on certain sections of the city centre tram network in Birmingham, England, where overhead lines would have been an eyesore.
Excellent video! It’s nice to see the in-ground electric rail working in snow! You must have been freezing taking all these shots on this cold day! All your shots are very steady and clear! I really love the styling of these tram vehicles!
Thanks Luke. There is no ground-level power supply: tram is supplied by batteries when there is no overhead line. The tram line will be extended in the old town where overhead wires will be a eyesore. Today, batteries are only used at the terminus.
In-ground electric supply is at present being installed in parts of the centre of Sydney, Australia during the re-introduction of trams (LAST RUN IN ABOUT 1961 except for a light rail line running on an old goods line) - why didn't they just leave the were they were instead of smelly buses?
Don't a lot of older people echo your thoughts. Now they (the councils, and ultimately the homeowners), are having to pay the price for their rush to get rid of them, in an extra charge on the rates (or whatever they call them in your town).
In town, running on 'street track' I presume like all other vehicles they have to obey the speed limit so probably 30mph max, although with frequent stops I doubt if it gets up to that speed. Once it gets onto 'reserved track' possibly a bit more than that but not much, after all they are not intended as an 'inter-urban' for high speed runs with stops a mile or more apart.
Wow! When I lived in Luxembourg, in the mid-eighties, all that was left of the former tramway was the "Tramschap" depot at Limpertsberg. Congratulations on the new tramway! :-)
OMG ! I was in Luxembourg in September 2015 and I absolutely fell in love with the place :-) . This has got to be the Kirchberg Plateau ???? Beautiful state-of-the-art trams. I will have to visit again very soon .
Uh, no!!! Look at the seats in the video. They are made from hard plastic with a thin layer of moquette to cover them. Not at all confortable and no grab rails on the seat backs.
Wow, nice video! I didn't know it snows so much in Luxembourg. I was in Luxembourg city once. I don't remember seeing trams there. Very stylish and efficient trams it seems.
This tram is just a part of the entire rework project of the public transportation system nation-wide, which the Ministry of Mobility aims to accomplish by 2035.
I was very excited to hear from a this brand new network. I really love it. Except I don' t like the colored doors that much, because it disturbs the view a bit. But still way better, than advertizements on the window like you have it in my austrian hometown of Linz. Thanks for uploading.
Ive in Maine and all we see are boring old freights and the SpamTrak express ? to Boston!! very beautiful modern looking commuter. the T in Boston still uses horses to pull it!!!!!
I'm sorry, I can speak english well. So I write the comment in Bahasa.
Not on St. Charles, Canal, Riverfront, Rampart-St. Claude or the proposed Desire line. But for newer routes leading away from downtown or the river to replace busses certainly. These are very well designed trams. They operate smoothly and they're comfortable inside. The only problem is how low to the ground they ride. I doubt you could get away with those on New Orleans streets, especially with the sinkage over time.
Looks like, lack of double pane class on the tram, causes windows to fog up. It should be addressed, on such a high-design vehicle. Double pane windows also provide better climate and noise isolation , as well. Con-grats from Poland.
Beautiful photography of a lovely tram, - although I'm not sure about the frontal/ends appearance, perhaps I will grow to like them. They do rather amuse me with the 'design', it is not as if it is a "TGV" or the Japanese "Bullet" train and will be doing 300mph+ around the town or city. I think they could lose some, (not all), of the long 'sleek' nose, do you need it when the max speed will be no more than around the 30mph mark and then only 'out of town'.
I swear the design of these trams are the best thing I've seen lately. Whoever designed them, please give that person a rise. Well deserved.
It was CAF, from Spain
Beautiful design. The interior colors and lighting are festive on such a dreary day.
Whoever designed this tram should be the head of the next gundam series.
I would call it the Cadillac of trams
What a modern and nice looking tram!
Oh hell ya!
Ultra Mega Super Awesome!
... but these are still 2-axle junk-lorries tied together. Perfect to get rid of kidney stones.
made in spain
NLA nice
🤩
Super stunning. I'd love to ride the tram and look around Luxemburg
Nice livery, with that different coloured glass in the doors. Those LED lights are stylish.
Absolutely agree with Andrei , greetings from Baku (Azerbaijan)

Laval and Longueuil would do well with this system with maybe interoperability across the metropolitan.
Gordon Warlow you think Montreal is bad? Check out Boston lol
Because the rich country in Europe are the most progressive place on the planet.
In Montreal uuu:(

it makes our trams in Birmingham UK looks plain, they were to order some more, hope it be those sleeks, as the ones from CAF☺

That looks amazing! I love trams that use track power in some sections. I hope we get something like this in North America.

@@DJShadesUK , in Rio the tram uses power from the middle track
That is the quietest train I've ever seen! It's amazing! Quiet inside the vehicle too. And Gorgeous.
I'm from Holland and i wish we could have these kind of tram!Very beautiful ♡♡
That's the best looking tram I've seen!
Well done, Luxembourg!
I am not always a fan of modern trams, but this one is very nice, sleek, elegant, inviting, glides over the track. And there's lot of tram!
I admire the transluscent coloured glass on the doors, they really enhance the livery.

What a beautiful piece of machinery. So elegant and sleek. I wish the Luxembourgers many a happy ride on these trams.

I recollect my childhood days schooldays When. I used to travel by tram from Luz to santhom we had lot of fun waving and shouting Tata tata to people.
Beautiful tram. Thank you for showing.
Very stylish tram! Nicer looking than the new Bombardier ones we have in Toronto.
Toronto with its municipal transportation system is an ugly CRAP - even with the "new Bombardier" tramways !!!!
Beautiful train! I want to take it and look around the city view of Luxemburgh😊
I like the design, we have this in our city in Spain, but the design is not so modern. But it is a great service of transportation .
Very nice! I would love to drive such a beauty!
Nice tram system... congratulations Luxemburg love it!
I wonder if the luxtram is luxurious...
Luxembourg is a tax heaven and lives of german workforce.
Uh, no!!! Look at the seats in the video. They are made from hard plastic with a thin layer of moquette to cover them. Not at all confortable and no grab rails on the seat backs.
Disques 13 Swing ........ i seriously didn't see that! Guess i just gave an answer to my own question
It must be. Luxemburg = luxurious
MartinFrederick Graafland thats the joke.....
Its outlook design is awesome, I love it.
This is a gorgeous tram; imagine what the U.S. could do if we weren't fighting endless wars.
Wow, nice video! I didn't know it snows so much in Luxembourg. I was in Luxembourg city once. I don't remember seeing trams there. Very stylish and efficient trams it seems.
Prior to 10 December 2017 (the day of this video), the last trams in Luxembourg ran in 1964.
Luxembourg only gets a couple days of snow every year. This winter only 2 or 3 days.
Its design without gap between base and road bed makes it look seamlesly attached to the street floor.
Felicitaciones Luxemburgo! Ahora dan ganas de volver. Congratulations Luxembourg! Eager to come back again.
We got a new one too here in Arizona. Looks boxy and boring compared to this thing! And this was a new line of service with new cars and everything!
Wow! It looks pretty good! It's also aero dynamic.
Such a gorgeous, sleek and quiet train!
Looks very nice
I love Luxembourg and I love this thing too!
Very Beautiful and Fantastic Snow.....
I'm so proud of your city!
Nice trams. I bet it is nice and warm inside.
It is. and colourfull :D
It isn't. Unfortunately. Lot of people have been complaining about that. The Wir conditioning is all the time set on cold air.
Maybe the most beautiful tram I've ever seen, simply elegant, kinda puts our light-rail here in the states to shame...
Thanks, Moses...
100% low floor, battery operated for sections without wire, first time I even heard of it- Great!
Because it's brand-new, the 10th was it's official inauguration day. They will expand the line in the coming years.
Spitze. Hammer 🥰👍
looks like a Disney ride from tomorrowland! 😁
Enfin ce tramway est en service ! Magnifique design !
Cool! The new Tram looks awesome 👍:)
Amazing design!
Congratulations CAF (it took me awhile to see the nameplate on the front)
thing of beauty!!!!
They sound like they are slithering along. Beautiful design.
wow very nice tram.. I'm in shock this design wonderful greetings from Poland
nice to know some countries have a good working public transport network, we in the UK cant even get ours to run on time let alone get anything new
Wonderful. I love Tramway.
Wish west midlands metro urbos 3 looked this modern. The seats look a lot better too! Ours make your bottom go numb 😂
Lovely video, beautiful tram!!
beautiful
Nice..thank you....greetings from holland
these caterpillars are marvelous to stare at!
From things I've read Luxembourg has been lacking in public transportation, so this tram was a good addition.
This tram is just a part of the entire rework project of the public transportation system nation-wide, which the Ministry of Mobility aims to accomplish by 2035.
Beautiful trains, I want them here in the US! 😭
Legends are trying to find the wheels of that tram......
A very stylish tram, interior and exterior with a smart livery.
I think it's years ahead of our time!
Greetings from Chicago. This sure beats our decrepit old El cars.
beautiful futuristic tram :0
Very smart looking tram i like the different coloured doors
How they are so much developed countries because they have, unlike us, educated and honest leadership.
Not only that they are thinly populated.
Wish I'd had this to ride around on when I visited the town back in 1979. Doesn't seem to move too swiftly in parts, though. Maybe it's the snow.
I was very excited to hear from a this brand new network. I really love it. Except I don'
t like the colored doors that much, because it disturbs the view a bit. But still way better, than advertizements on the window like you have it in my austrian hometown of Linz. Thanks for uploading.
The different colour of the doors is an aid to the visually-handicapped.

Like the different colours in the doorways 👍
If it were not running on the road, it would be mistaken for a train. Such a great invention!
0 nice ! very nit and clean 😍as well as modern design too .
Amazing design🔥🙏
BTW, in Arkhangelsk they have excluded all the types of transport and only awful minibuses aka _Paziks_ are being remained.
Looks like, lack of double pane class on the tram, causes windows to fog up. It should be addressed, on such a high-design vehicle. Double pane windows also provide better climate and noise isolation , as well. Con-grats from Poland.
Very sophesticated Tram.
We need it in Sylhet( North eastern part of Bangladesh), Bangladesh for easy and comfortable communication.

Fantastic streetcars new and fast system. Love it! Ciao :-)
Beautiful futuristic trams. Meanwhile here in Toronto we've BEEN waiting for our first LRT vehicles for testing from bombardier since 2016.
Wow, the colored glass is very cool looking
