    So glad you made this video. I rode the Himalayan recently. I was taken back by the motorcycle. I felt engine performance bit rough and hard downshifts in all gears. NOSEDIVE was killing me because my riding style is a bit fast. TOPHEAVY weight of the motorcycle will not let me have fun it. So I withdrew my booking and booked KTM adventure 390 X.

    • @FTRClub
      @FTRClub  11 месяцев назад +3

      Yeah the front dives in quite a bit and can scare riders who aren’t used to riding such bikes. 390X is very balanced choice and I don’t think anyone needs more power than what the 390 motor makes.

    • @virajvrooms
      @virajvrooms 10 месяцев назад

      Good choice buddy. Nose dives existed even on 411. With the new one having bigger tank top heavy character, I can only imagine. A person who is used to agility will never buy a Himalayan

    Another honest review, plenty of positive remarks and made my decision to order a Hanle Black, tubeless for march 2024 the correct one.
    Seems like quite a lot of machine for a mid-size mixed use motorcycle and looking forward to getting mine on the road.
    Next task will be compiling an accessory list, engine/sump guards, riding lights and the rear pannier topbox combination!

      Which colour did you select? I am going for the Hanle Black but will add the lower engine bars with the larger sump guard, plus radiator guard, which I will get powder coated black as I think it will tidy up the whole area. Not sure the silver area looks as good on the black bikes, maybe silver is ok on the other colours? Looks like plenty of sales coming toward Royal Enfield next year.@@FTRClub

    Sounds very nice, but I don't think I would want to lose the low end torque on my 411 long stroke. I ride dirt roads all the time and very little highway and I think I would regret losing the unique relaxed tractor torque of the original Himmy.

    • @FTRClub
      @FTRClub  11 месяцев назад +3

      Great point. Off-road, technical trails etc is where you'll really miss the bottom end torque because that's when the bike's engine is usually below 4000 rpm or so tackling terrain. If you ride such roads frequently, you will definitely miss the grunt of the Himalayan 411.

    • @deltabluesdavidraye
      @deltabluesdavidraye 11 месяцев назад +3

      Exactly my Himmy produces 30 h.p. and 30 torque with a cam ,Freeflow air filter and exhaust.I am converting to Carb which will give me tuning control. If I then put in a 462 overbore kit I will get 35 h.p. and a bit over 35 ft lbs. of torque.No stupid unnecessary riding modes ,ride by wire,EFI ,deleted bottom frame rails ,aluminum bore ,water pump,radiator,upside down forks that drain out when leaky to go wrong . I do not get 6 gears a bigger tank or more clearance .All unnecessary.

    • @FTRClub
      @FTRClub  11 месяцев назад +3

      @deltabluesdavidraye That’s individual’s choice I’d say. I too don’t think ride by wire & ride modes were necessary. However, since competitors are giving the same features (BMW G310 GS, KTM 390 Adv etc), Royal Enfield too decided to play along.
      I still fail to understand the need of too much electronics in Adventure motorcycles. It just makes the bike more vulnerable.

    • @danielben-avraham1539
      @danielben-avraham1539 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@FTRClub From my perspective the electronic gadgets are just more things to break. I can see the logic behind a map on the speedometer for those who want to explore the highways, and the electronics is fine for street use, but my bikes are always covered with dirt and mud. The switches are a problem. My headlight stopped functioning on one of my bikes the other day and I had to disassemble the switch and clean it. Simplicity has its benefits. With that said, I'm not criticizing the new 450 in any way, if I were in the market for a new bike, I would not hesitate to buy it. But like you pointed out, upgrades on the 411, like the seat, and engine can come close to the new bike, while maintaining the grunt of the long stroke. I installed the Fuelx pro, and plan on doing the upgrades that you mentioned above. If you do the upgrades correctly you can get close to 40 horsepower. One guy from the US had his bike dyno at 40hp. I know he replaced the cam, piston and such, and the air filter along with the exhaust, he also changed out the stock CPU for the Powertronics. Afterwards he changed out his front sprocket to give him better highway performance. The first thing I want to change out is the cam, and the reason is simple, my bike constantly stalls at idle, and I am thinking that it might be the auto decompressor going bad. I have tried everything else and nothing seems to fix the problem.

    For people who'd choose Triumph Scrambler over Himalayan : Form over Factor. This one looks ugly and Triumph looks great, there is also the reliability and legacy, and although so does RE but they messed up real bad with their first iteration of Himalayan, it'll take some time for those troubled and tortured souls to take a liking to the Himalayan again. Hope it grows on them.

    Thank you for the wonderful video.
    Would like to understand more about "Its not beginner friendly motorcycle."
    Do you mean to say this should not be someone's first motorcycle?
    I am 5'7.Would it be difficult handling
    the 450 considering my height?
    I have an avenger 220 cruise which i have been riding for pretty much 8 years now.I might either go for the Classic 350 or the Himalyan 450.
    My concern is that according to a lot of reviewers the Himalyan lacks low end torque which will be available in the Classic 350.Plus its a fairly heavy and comparatively motorcycle.Yet to test ride the Himalyan.

    • @FTRClub
      @FTRClub  11 месяцев назад +1

      The power and torque delivery is far more superior than the Classic 350. Also, even though the Himalayan is marginal heavier than the Classic, it feel very light to manoeuvre.
      When you go for test ride, try this:
      1. Park both bikes side by side.
      2. Pick the classic and pull it backwards as if you are taking it out of a parking lot.
      3. Do the same with the Himalayan.
      You’ll immediately realise how light the Himalayan feels. Moreover the higher weight of the Himalayan according to the spec sheet is the kerb weight, which means it’s with 90% fuel and all the other fluids like coolant, engine oil etc. With 17lt fuel tank & 90% of it being filled to calculate, the number seems higher.
      It’s definitely not a learner bike. If you happen to buy one, I’d suggest attend some off-road training session (usually a 2 day program) to be able to gain confidence and enjoy more.
      About the rider height be seat height, at 5’8” I didn’t see any problem. However, keep in mind that I ride an Xpulse Rally day in and day out, which is significantly taller and I have some good experience on handling bikes with tall seat height. I don’t think at your height, you will have any problem managing the bike.

      For touring this is going to be a fabulous bike. If your focus was more on off-roading then perhaps I’d have suggested an Xpulse. But for touring and daily commutes, the Himalayan 452 is just perfect. It’s comfortable for both rider and pillion, it has enough space for luggage too, the engine is pretty powerful. Above all, Royal Enfield has service centres in every corner of the country, hence getting things fixed during a tour won’t be any problem either.
