It’s a combination of two Greek myths. Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Persephone. I guess you could say that it’s set in modern times. I don’t really know. But the music is amazing! Wait For Me II and Chant are probably my favourite songs. You should definitely listen to it!! :)
At 6:53, I kind of agree with the person who wrote it because more now than ever, I see people online (especially TikTok) saying they only know one little part from a musical because of a trend and claiming to be a mega thespian. One time I commented on a post similar to that asking if they know any other songs from the musical they were talking about and the said "its from a musical??". I was PISSED!!!!!!

Hi everybody! About the only liking popular musicals/broadway shows, I totally agree with what you said. It kinda creates a false requirement to be accepted into the community. Which is wrong and anyone can like whichever show they want,to be in the community. For example myself, I’m relatively new (been a fan for over a year) to the Broadway show things and I only fully listened and obsessed over a few shows, most of them being popular ones, and I often doubted if I was a real fan. But, like you and we all say, we are all in the community, despite which shows we like 😊. Also those are super cute earrings.

I would like to say something. I don’t disrespect you for only like one popular musical. You’re still a theater fan and kid. I do, however, don’t think it’s fair to call yourself a diehard fan when you only like on musical. It’s okay to call yourself a diehard Hamilton fan, but not a diehard theatre fan.
I agree this. Liking popular musicals doesn't make you a fake/basic fan. Liking only one musical and calling yourself a theatre fan does. I think to be a theatre fan, you have to listen to more then one musical. For example, I only thought of myself as a Hamilfan back when I just listened to Hamilton. I didn't consider myself a theatre fan until I listened to Heathers.
3:17 My dad hates Hamilton for this reason. He’s only heard a few songs from the soundtrack, hasn’t seen the show and refuses to watch it on Disney plus. I keep telling him to give it a chance but he pushes it away and says it’s not historically accurate and that he won’t listen to it or watch it until it is 100% historically accurate. Yes it isn’t completely historically accurate, but most parts are. Lin just needed to have some creativity when he was writing it. My dad also thinks that the founding fathers shouldn’t be rapping. If you want to know about Alexander Hamilton, Im sorry, but you won’t get an exact musical, A documentary would help more! One of my personal ones is that I don’t really like Phantom if Thé Opera, the age difference and the kidnapping is just too creepy for me, that’s just me though (also I’m a huge fan)
I always thought the point was that it was creepy and a lot of people (and even the marketing team) miss the point - it’s meant to be a one- sided story and the real tragedy is the Phantom’s realisation at the end that his actions have driven away the only person he’s cared about. I genuinely hate creepy romances and I think there are too many of these in media but for some reason I really like this show - maybe because it doesn’t reward the creepiness and I like how everything builds up to the ending. I also like how a female character’s action of ‘saving’ a male character doesn’t actually have negative repercussions on her own life and she goes off to live her life which differentiates it from many ‘girl fixes bad dude with compassion’ narratives. That’s just my view on it tho.

- I’m not a huge DEH fan, MOST of the music is kinda bland for me and the plot makes sense( I guess) but it’s kinda questionable. And yes I’ve actually given it a try, twice
Second that - there weren’t any standout musical moments except for the dissonant chord when Evan kissed Zoe and a lot of the songs blended together. I did kind of like Sincerely Me though because at least that was fun despite being a bit questionable. At some points I actually felt like the bits without music were stronger since the OBC cast was uniformly pretty decent in terms of acting and the bland music kind of distracted from the performances.

I would like to say something. I don’t disrespect you for only like one popular musical. You’re still a theater fan and kid. I do, however, don’t think it’s fair to call yourself a diehard fan when you only like on musical. It’s okay to call yourself a diehard Hamilton fan, but not a diehard theatre fan.
I agree this. Liking popular musicals doesn't make you a fake/basic fan. Liking only one musical and calling yourself a theatre fan does. I think to be a theatre fan, you have to listen to more then one musical. For example, I only thought of myself as a Hamilfan back when I just listened to Hamilton. I didn't consider myself a theatre fan until I listened to Heathers.
Entrance applause is very rarely a thing on the west end. Perhaps on a closing night or a dash change but generally not a thing

My dad hates Hamilton for this reason. He’s only heard a few songs from the soundtrack, hasn’t seen the show and refuses to watch it on Disney plus. I keep telling him to give it a chance but he pushes it away and says it’s not historically accurate and that he won’t listen to it or watch it until it is 100% historically accurate. Yes it isn’t completely historically accurate, but most parts are. Lin just needed to have some creativity when he was writing it.
My dad also thinks that the founding fathers shouldn’t be rapping. I tell him that it’s like that to appeal to a younger generation but he doesn’t want to hear my opinions because he thinks my opinion is wrong and his are the only opinions that matter
as someone who has seen Matilda on the west end twice, I completely agree that it is an amazing musical and is super underrated. those kids are incredible!

Hamilton isn’t historically accurate! If you want to know about Alexander Hamilton, Im sorry, but you won’t get an exact musical, A documentary would help more!
But remember that this isn’t some kind of teen romcom and start shipping everyone and make OC’s with these characters (these are real people, DEAD people, have a bit of respect)
Also, another opinion I have, is that the Dear Evan Hansen Fandom doesn’t appreciate the mental health discussion and just uses the characters as shipping fuel or whatever (Again, Have a little of respect)

for me a problem with Hamilton is where people go yeah i like musicals but i have only seen/listened to Hamilton and nothing else. for me that is like saying you like all fruits but only eating apples. sure its true that you like that one kind but there is so much more variety then just that. this logic also works in the opposite of if people say they don't like musicals but have only watched the cats movie

Yes it’s creepy, but I think that’s what makes it so great. And the music is fantastic!
I always thought the point was that it was creepy and a lot of people (and even the marketing team) miss the point - it’s meant to be a one- sided story and the real tragedy is the Phantom’s realisation at the end that his actions have driven away the only person he’s cared about. I genuinely hate creepy romances and I think there are too many of these in media but for some reason I really like this show - maybe because it doesn’t reward the creepiness and I like how everything builds up to the ending. I also like how a female character’s action of ‘saving’ a male character doesn’t actually have negative repercussions on her own life and she goes off to live her life which differentiates it from many ‘girl fixes bad dude with compassion’ narratives. That’s just my view on it tho.

- I’m not a huge DEH fan, MOST of the music is kinda bland for me and the plot makes sense( I guess) but it’s kinda questionable. And yes I’ve actually given it a try, twice
Second that - there weren’t any standout musical moments except for the dissonant chord when Evan kissed Zoe and a lot of the songs blended together. I did kind of like Sincerely Me though because at least that was fun despite being a bit questionable. At some points I actually felt like the bits without music were stronger since the OBC cast was uniformly pretty decent in terms of acting and the bland music kind of distracted from the performances.
