  • This is a video of the steps on how to change or remove and alternator in 2005, 2006, 2007 Ford focuses with the 2.0L Duratech engine.
    The vehicle shown is a 2006 ZXW station Wagon with the non-PZEV motor.
    The alternator is 110A
    I tried to outline the best way to get it out via the top, usual videos show the lower engine mount under the car being removed,. however, on my car, it was easiest to remove the top passenger side mount due to corrosion on the bottom one preventing me from removing it.
    This is just a purely entertainment video, I can not take liability for anything anyone does with the information.

    Thank you for making this excellent video!! About 4 years ago, my alternator went bad on my 2006 focus and it was a pain in the ass trying to get it out! At that time I did not remove the bolt holding the engine mount! Even though I was still able to get the alternator out from the top, this time I will remove the motor mount bolt and put the new alternator in. This will be my 3rd time replacing this damn thing!! I guess Ford focuses may be between 2005 and 2007 had bad alternators and they did not last long at all!! By the way, I removed the heat shield to allow more room to removed from the top. Anyway, thank you so much for this new information! I will subscribe to your channel right now!!!😊👍

      That sounds awesome, I did not remove the exhaust heat shield, as the bolts holding it in were seized, I found the engine mount easier to remove to get a few extra inches of room!

    Only 3 comments. The negative of the battery should be removed FIRST. You need light when on the bottom. The 9/32" is also a 7mm. Thanks for showing me what i am up against tmo.

    What was the little sensor called ? The one u said has small sensitive wires? Thanks

    • @Ibirtch
      @Ibirtch  Год назад

      It’s actually not a sensor, it’s a capacitor, used for voltage regulation. I think I did call it a sensor in the video.

    Mounting the alternator the bottom mounting bolt went in kind of in a slant now it's hitting top off the alternator whole where it slides in now I can't get it to go in or come out

    • @Ibirtch
      @Ibirtch  2 года назад

      The bottom bolt might be jammed, I never came across this problem, but I'd try taking a wrench or ratchet and turning the bolt to the left, sometimes the threads will catch and help push itself out, if no luck then it might need some persuaion with a hammer. Hope you get it fixed, sorry it's not the easiest to help without seeing it.

      @@11bravoak this issue was caused by the valve cover leaking oil into the alternator. That somehow threw the harmonic balancer off and it was no longer straight. Which somehow threw the timing off. Junked that pos and got a honda lol 😆

    This job sucks. You don’t have to remove engine mounts or anything. Comes out the top. Good to remove plastics and wheel to get at bottom alternator bolts.

    • @Ibirtch

      Interesting, I was unable to do that due to the heat shield on the exhaust manifold being in the way, and the heat shield bolts were rusted in place due to this being an Ontario car.
