    For electric soldering irons, Weller really can't be beat (IMHO) - and they also make really good butane soldering irons, as well.

    Thank you Manuel.
    Weller is a major brand in the USA, possibly THE major brand. Weller soldering guns of about 200 watts have been popular here for all sorts of purposes for at least 60 years, back when I wanted a soldering iron for Christmas in 1963 to do electronics soldering, but my father bought me a 200 Watt Weller gun because that was the only sort of soldering device he was aware of other than a propane torch. Fortunately, most of what I was building was tube (valve) gear back then so I managed to do it with the gun without much problem. By the time I was working with semi-conductors on PCB's I'd purchased my own soldering pencil, and had the big gun to solder onto chassis and such, so it all worked out.

    Weller is here in the US, too. My first simple soldering iron was a Weller.

    Great video, nice to visit these topics! My unit was prebuilt, and arrived working perfectly, but if I had done the build myself, I would probably have made many repairs!

    One thing I do, is to put the dummy load as near to the oscilloscope as possible, using a BNC T Piece, to avoid reflections on the 1 Meter testing coax cable. This was not neccessary in this case though.

      Hi Patrick, no I´m not hunting with the raptors. That´s my wifes birds and hobby. Very fun to watch, but not efficient at all. I´m hunting with rifle. Mainly roe deer and boar. Sometimes red deer. 73 Manuel; DL2MAN

    Thanks for doing this Manuel. Yes, Weller is still a big thing also this side of the big lake. I keep mine from the days when I was on Tech school, and take care of it. It is basically being replaced by Chinese tools and becoming hard to get replacement tips. You are basically connecting the Scope directly to the output of the Dummy load? I mean... after the diode that is intended to be used to measure via a DMM? 73 Rob. YS1RS.

    • @dl2man
      @dl2man  3 месяца назад +1

      I connect the oscilloscope to the "hot" side of the resitors. After the diode, there would not be a sine anymore. basically "in parallel" to the 50 Ohms.
