Well read. I am a native English speaker, from Australia, looking for short stories while I do housework. It is an excellent way of learning English.
I picked up whether it was British or American English it was pretty quickly. We generally use British terms, except when we have our own words, so I can pick up when there are different words to our English. It is a bit harder when it is zBritish English, because I sometimes don’t know when Americans have different words.
However nothing in what I said should be read as one way or another as I am not saying how long it took me to work out. There was a particular word used that I only recently learnt with different words in British and American English.

Thank you so much Luke!🙏 That reminds me of the old good days, back 20 years ago, when I would listen intensively to BBC radio. There were the BBC radio play every Sunday. It trumendously has helped me in my listening skills.😀 In fact, learning English with stories is greatly underrated. I wish more and more English teachers would use that method a lot, and solely story telling in teaching beginners. Anyway, good job out here and all the best!🙏
