    I think this is the first time I've seen a pregnant dog on here and thought "yes this is how it shoud be done". She wanted to breed a rare breed, did her reserch, went to the vet before the birth to check if the pups were okay, called the vet when it started and not after the first pup was born. This was just wholesome!

      I have a friend who's attending vet school and studying to become a licensed dog trainer and breeder. anyone who truly loves the animals and not just the money they can make with puppies will be like that, they are aware that they are creating new lives and go to great lenghts to create healthy and happy puppies who will enjoy a long life with people who will love them in an appropriate manner.

      agreed. Education on responsible breeding and maintaining STANDARDS is sooo important to the overall safety of the animals. Programs like Blue Ribbon Kennel are awesome for helping maintain proper standards for licensed breeding facilities. Missouri’a Operation Bark Alert is a wonderful tool for giving consumers a chance to report licensed and unlicensed breeders to be investigated if somethings fishy. When I graduate vet school I want to advocate here in the U.S. to expand Bark Alert to other states!

    I had my cat for 18 years before he passed away, and I can't tell you how many times I tripped on him, or stepped on his tail or paw because his favorite spot to be was between my legs when I walked. I swear he waited until my foot was on its way down to get in there--specially in the kitchen if I was opening any kind of can, even like vegetables. I guess he figured any can opening meant the possibility of tuna or cat food. Thankfully he was never injured. After he passed I still kept thinking I saw him in the dark when I was half-asleep on my way to the bathroom. It was so ingrained in me to jump back when he got underfoot that I was still doing it for like a year after he died. Man I miss my grumpy cat.

They had to put my boy down right then and there. Fucked up part was I had left my boy to go to rehab cuz I needed help so I found out after the fact. I'm quite sad I didn't get to say goodbye but at the same time I don't think I would've been okay watching that happen. My ex called me right away to tell me what had happened and I just completely shut down. That boy saved me so many times. He was such a great buddy. I was his favorite so I felt pretty damn guilty.

      So devastated at accidentally managing to injure the puppy's tail and worried about amputation and yet lets the injured dog play in the park with other dogs within the same week and damage the tail, yet again. I feel for the little dog for the owner appears to have no common sense and ended up with part of the puppy's tail amputated and from stepping on the puppy's tail to letting a recovering puppy play in the park, it was all the fault of the owner.
      Then the poor little terrier who was exhausted after having 4 puppies was struggling so with puppy 5 and the options were given and she did not want the dog to have the injection, bet she would have had it, and so was walking an exhausted dog up and down the stairs and putting puppy 5 at serious risk and after all of that the injection was given anyway and the speed of delivery could have happened so much earlier, then it appears the puppy is not going to make it and that would have been the owners fault for not agreeing to the injection..
      Its all well and good these that do not believe in injections but I bet had she been exhausted and in pain giving birth she would have had the injection, the injections are safe and speed up delivery and cause less distress on the dog, who had to go through all that extra pain and fear before the injection was given.
      Some people do not have enough common sense to have pets

    • @phoniz100
      @phoniz100 Год назад +6

      @@joellefelix1926 In some cases they may be working dogs. My father hunts, and we wouldn't get a dog that can't do it's job. Same way people with sheep wants a good herding dog. One way of insuring that is through breeding. Granted, the specific breed my father chose is bred specifically to eliminte unhealthy traits like bad hips/joints, and they're given all the vaccinations etc. There is a difference between ethical and unethical dog breeding, and I am very much against unethical breeding.

    • @burntbeansoup
      @burntbeansoup Год назад +3

      @Joelle Felix Some people need certain dogs or want certain qualities out of them. Just because you don't have a preference doesn't mean other people don't. For example, German shepherds are great police dogs since they listen very well to commands and are nice and strong, while beagles are good for sniffing out drugs because of their enhanced sense of smell. Pomeranians are good for people who want a nice small dog with pretty hair and huskies are good for people who live in cold climates. Some breeds also come with health risks that shorten their lifespan, which is undesirable. Some people have the ability to choose just any dog, but others do not.

      I loved when Dr. Scot imitated a pregnant woman to the owner of a pet in the office for treatment. I think they were talking about a dog who needed extra handling from nerves. Dr. Scot backed into a straight chair and dropped. He did it so beautifully even to the last big sigh! He was saying his beloved wife Zoe, did that near the end of her pregnancy and was now and he learned as quickly as lkssible. and he certainly did a quick study. Dr. Scot attends everything he can on a patient and as I said he can switch right to the owner and work with them to help rehab their pet, or to retrain them. He's a very gifted vet, he has a great support staff and especially Nurse Emma and Nurse Nathan. The ladies on the front desk are an asset as they send an animal and help start the process for which the pet care to that petshop. 's got a dramatic flair. Loved how he treats the total animal and also he's so sensitive to the family members. I've noticed in the last few days especially, that when Scott has to handle a heartbreaking situation, such as dog will be on short term.

    • @user-om5tv5fd9s
      @user-om5tv5fd9s 2 года назад +14

      @@rlight7666 well we won’t know for sure. Maybe accidental irresponsibility. But not all dog owners are professional dog trainers and always know by heart what’s the right thing to do. I can imagine that the importance of puppies getting both a lot of outside play time and chances to socialize might have pushed her towards that decision. Plus I agree that that injury looks rather peculiar for normal “rough” playing, so something more serious must probably have happened. But our first dog for example used to whip her own tail bloody all the time because she kept smashing the tip against walls, doors etc. while wagging. She didn’t seem to feel any of it but it always looked really brutal and of course wasn’t healthy, and we were quite desperate to find a way to protect her tail somehow. Our second dog never once had that issue. Some really weird things can happen sometimes.

    I'm just wondering how long the woman waited to bring bella in after the second injury because he said it had got infected and was all dried up. I mean you couldn't have saved it anyway but how long did the dog suffer with the injury before she brought it in? Having said all that though at least she brought it in period. So many animals are left to suffer with literally no veterinarian care for their whole little lives 🥺

    • @prcervi
      @prcervi 3 года назад +34

      i'd have guessed at most a day after second injury? 'cause at first it probably didn't look like the rough-play with the other dog did any lasting damage, and then it went to that state.
      lady certainly regretted that it happened, but i can understand hoping for a bit that it won't progress to a worse state and incur sizeable vet bills, and she definitely brought bella in before it could have infection spread beyond the injury site.
      Some people forget that a dog's mouth is rife with some seriously nasty bacteria also.

    • @geiroveeilertsen7112
      @geiroveeilertsen7112 3 года назад +20

      Truth Teller
      At most a day, probably half a day. With long-haired breeds it can be difficult to assess the damage until the bleeding stops/slows down, and many injuries bleeds a hell of a lot more at the time of injury, making the injury seem more urgent than it really is.
      Also, as mentioned, it was a "degloving" from another dog bite. It would most likely have been infected from the get-go, unlike a similar injury from for example getting stuck in a door and ripping it open. Degloving (or basically any bite-related injuries) should be treated as infected anyway, so even if it wasn't visually infected, any vet would say it is if it is from a bite, and treat it as such.

    • @dbirdeycapozzi9807

      It is also possible that the bandage was replaced too tightly by the owner at home, causing tissue death at the tip before the 2nd injury even took place. Just a thought.

    • @Faesharlyn

      A degloving injury is always an emergency, when the actual bone is sticking out there's no question. If it was a person's finger they would never have expected it to heal by itself. Bella is lucky to have such a good vet to counter her incredibly careless owner.

      @@aprilgosa5779 Oh dear. You're picking a fight with the wrong person here. Still, I'll explain. The dog is a Cocker spaniel. Part of the Gundog group. All spaniels in the gundog group are traditionally docked. Even though docking has been banned in the UK for cosmetic reasons, many people still like the look of a docked dog and so, people who breed, will tell the vet that they are to be sold as working dogs in order to get around the law.
      So who's the dummy now?
      I've spent more than 40 years breeding, exhibiting, and grooming dogs, then became a trainer, had my own rescue centre and advice line.
      I bet you wish you'd done some research before insulting me now eh?
      As for 'loving' the dog. I never said she didn't love it. However, for a start, if you trip over a dog, you don't manage to dislocate the tail. Then to have another tail injury within a week?
      Too many coincidences.
      In 49 years, I have owned a *lot* of dogs. Never had less than 6, currently have 12, and never *once* have any of them had 2 very serious tail injuries in a week. Not even any of the long dogs I have owned, which are *notorious* for splitting their tails.
