Nokia does a lot of non mobile phone things. They are at the cutting edge of data transmission via modulated lasers. That means super high speed information processing. Also they are preparing for 5g to enter the market as a big player in this new communication generation. They could act as a suplier for communication providers and phone producers.

Yeah, that's the non-phone Nokia company. Do not confuse them with the company that makes phones under the Nokia brand. That's HMD. That got rights to the Nokia brand to make phones, that they bought from Microsoft. Those phones are in turn manufactured by a company called FIH. But, Nokia today does NOT by themselves make any phones. I know that it gets a bit confusing..

My gripe is with the Nokia 1 (about £60, ish) compared to my Microsoft Lumia from 3 years ago, which was a £50 phone. Things are supposed to get better and be more value for money as time goes on, but to me the Nokia 1 isn't as good as a £50 phone from a few years ago. This is what happens when competition gets taken away. Companies now have little incentive to be better
@@robertmcmillan3638 I can't agree, maybe your range is just too low. I paid about €110 for a Nokia 6 recently in Asia, it's much much better than my Xiaomi Mi3 from 5 years ago which cost €175. You can't really go below €100 and expect decent quality.

Nokia still exists because many people still trust this brand for it's durability/simplicity/long lasting and good battary life (specially if u think about South Asian zone)...
EDIT: I mean South Asain zone (yes, China has improved in technologies over the years but not everyone in China/India/or other South Asian countries need some Fancy new features/new camera/new display/new unlocking technologies in every six-eight months or every year!)

I recently bought my new Nokia 7 plusand so far I'm pretty amazed by it, I needed a new one after 2 years of second-hand HTC One M9. It's running pretty smoothly on Android Pie now and the battery lasts a long time, in 10 days I managed to have 7 hours of screen time 3 times. The only thing I do not understand is why the camera won't zoom when I'm using Snapchat, Instagram or any other camera app....

Everyone that says Windows Phone was the "dark age" of Nokia probably have never used it as their main phone. Windows Phone was great.
Well the os was easy to use and looked decent but the app support was lacking. Also I don't remember what phone it was but my brother wasn't even able to transfer his photos off the phone because it didn't have an sd slot and for some reason it didn't want to transfer the photos via usb.(it wasn't the cable or the ports fault, it was something to do with windows) Also he made the mistake of inputting his real age, which was under 18, so he couldn't install any apps without wiping the whole phone and losing all his stuff stored on the phone because he didn't have a way to back those up.

Pedro Ângelo I used it and it was a bad experience, waited for apps and features and they never came. Waiting waited and waited and nothing! I wanted it to succeed but it never did. Microsoft agrees with me they stopped making Windows phone, and no surface phone as well!

Back in highschool 15+years ago we all had Nokia 3310 and used to toss them down the starewell to see how much we could spread the pieces apart. None of them ever broke and is to this day the best phone i had for it's time.

Dark years of Windows Phone? I would say they were one of the better phones. 925 1520 1020 930 640 XL one of the best budget phones ever, even 950 were spectacular when it launched. The only dark side was not being focused on marketing.
Can not wait for promising flagship 9 or even 10, still 7 Plus is fantastic, love the design and for a price it is absolutely the best midrange specially knowing that it has Nokia build quality. Yet still hope for Lumia return in a future or a Surface Phone.
I have the 7 plus great phone so clean and calls are so clear and easy to hear just a great allround phone and I highly recommend it and a very good price for all the features.
Windows Phone wasn't all bad but it has always been a bit of a dead platform which in turn kept potential users away.
Yeah the windows phones had awesome cameras and some great software available but there was never any good app support. and the interface while nifty was complicated and difficult at times when trying to manage storage and things.
I got some sad news for you dude microsoft isn't coming back to the mobile scene they lost way to much money doing it and are not going to risk doing it again
@@zhayward3190 Yeah they are now mainly focused on Azure, and their retail offerings will be laptop and tablet devices running Windows. Windows phone was too late to market, everbody by then had already owned at least one smartphone with either iOS or Android. Very few people were ever going to be willing to move to an ecosystem with only a fraction of the apps as the phones they already had.
Microsoft are now backing Android as a mobile platform, and building Android integration into Windows

Nokia is also part of the same group that have been making Alcatel Phones, The shine Light LTE was a great budget phone
You missed out both of Nokia's flagship phones. The Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco, which both use the same SoC as a Google pixel 2

I've got a Nokia 6.0. Been using it for about 4 or 5 months now and my previous device was a Samsung galaxy S8; and I simply love this phone. It only cost me $200 on amazon and even though it has a low chipset, it runs soooo smooth. Its always updating and I have the latest Android 8.1 Oreo. Nokia is a serious player these days.
