Xenogears is boring! YEAH!! My man! I can't get over the hate i have for xenogears... i didn'T get FF tactics as a teeen cuz i got Xenogears as a birthday gift. This game can rot in hell. I honestly give it a 4/10 at max
@througtonsheirs_doctorwhol5914 Geez. Grow up. You act like the game killed your mom or something. Not the only comment that is so not copy pasted on this video.
Dart+Volcano, Albert+Spinning Cane+Rose Storm, Meru for support/attack items. Get all the speed boosting equipment and maybe repeat items. That's all firepower you ever need and those are pretty easy to pull off. Also there's a mod that increases the item limit to 64 which I highly recommend.
Ironically enough, I never got to get very far in Xenogears because the copy that I rented would lock up just after Fei gets into the mech that's attacked his village, i.e. super early in the game. There was a scratch on the disk that prevented it from loading anything beyond a black screen with some flame crackling sounds. I even told the employees at the rental store about it, but they never replaced it.
Funny enough I have a huge amount of nostalgia for Death Stranding just because I first met all you guys when you would livestream it and we would mercilessly mock it all night.
I like The Legend of Dragoon and Alundra. The latter being one of my favorite Zelda clones. I guess I gave it the best shot in high school so I know a lot of the puzzles and they're still brutal to this day. As for dragoon I finally beat it when they re-released it on PS4 and I'm glad I did the story is great and so is the music and I will say the combat was my only complaint. Having to do additions just gets tiring after 20 hours and then you still have way more to do.
3:56 THANK YOU. i genuinely dont understand how people who complain about action rpgs, come around and defend QTE based jrpgs. its specially infuriating seeing so many videos no the last few days about that new western jrpg as "the final fantasy we want". even though the game is just another QTE turn based system, like pretty much every single western jrpg. its like they arent allowed to make a traditional turn based system. give me action rpg, or turn based rpgs, dont give me this QTE crap. and that's from someone who did play my fair share, and even enjoyed many of them. but one thing that infuriates me, is how the vast majority will balance the game, not on the strategy, but on your chance of hitting the QTE. and i know i will infuriate many, but i genuinely couldnt stand shhadow heart. heard alot of good things, started playing, spent a long time on the first fight because the combat revolves around that disk timing minigame. so yeah, sufice to say i just turned off the console and traded it for something else the day after.
I'll defend Banjo-Kazooie as i feel it's the sweet spot in terms of egregious collectibles; Banjo-Tooie, on the other hand, is out of control, although I can still recommend it be played at least once. It's a shame that Skyward Sword soured you on Zelda in general; the game itself has a lot going for it in terms of story and environment, but it's definitely a game that hasn't aged well.
Yeah, if you’re a completionist, Darkest Dungeon is going to be a big problem, I’m regretting it myself, ever thinking of going after its plat (not to mention, the harder DLC)
I'm not even going to try and convince you to play Legend of Dragoon, because some of the additions are actually soul crushing to try and use. However, it is still a fantastic game.
5:41 Alundra mentioned! ... Wait, that's bad... I love the game to bits, and I've... kinda memorized most of the problems, so I'm a bit biased here. Aheh. But I'll concede the jumping specifically is... not great. Any puzzles involving it tend to be frustrating. I note nothing was said about its much-maligned sequel, hehehehe...
While I do enjoy reading books, giant mechs, and JRPGs, I can 100% understand being turned off by the Xenogears. Also, it is probably my favorite PS1 RPG, but I did some reading into the development story and what the designers wanted vs what we got, and that's part of why I like it. And yeah, I gave up on Legend of Dragoon as well. Forgot why though.
@@BacklogBuster I posted this before you said not to like literally 30 ish seconds later you said about the wargod items. There is a lesser version that will just make it so that they are worth 1/2 addition xp and are significantly cheaper
It is impressive how most of the games you have mentioned i played it and all of them i was trash for me, and for the same reason. Now i will add MY exclusive: Project Zomboid. The game hasn't got a point, the objective is "survive" to the boredom. It has no challenges aside trying to survive.
Ha, I did kinda love Death Stranding for all its insanity and I'll always have a soft spot for Xenogears (you bailed out at the right time if you felt the dialogue-to-gameplay ratio was too heavy on Disc 1 though!) but I recently played Legend of Dragoon and what a slog! There is one Ultimate Wargod you can obtain on the Shipwreck (you may need to use save states to guarantee this) which makes things somewhat more bearable though.
Can't tell if that is Mafia 1 or 2 at the end but I lost it at the race I had to win in Mafia won. Almost broke my controller cause I was stuck on the race for 2 and half damn hours.
I feel like by completing that on OG difficulty should allow you to become a made man in the actual mob. 2 Straight hours it took for me to beat that goddamn race
Also since your bitching about darkest dungeon reminded me that i love it and am starting a new playthrough i can answer that 100% thing. Iirc that artifact is for a special boss in the darkest dungeon, and ONLY against its otherwise devastating "revelation" attack. It is worded confusingly tho
Skyward Sword really is just the previous 3D Zelda games but with all their faults dialed up to 11. It's no wonder you fell out of favor with that franchise after playing it. Glad to know Bubsy 3D is still on the menu!
Recently, just a couple of weeks ago, i get 100% achievements in darkest dungeon.... after 800 hours of gameplay. this is really, really long procces, i don't reccomend it
Darkest Dungeon artstyle is a bait... tbh the early EA version was much better, but devs listened to sweatlords grindlovers and made it worse- it also affected sequel
You're entitled to your opinion but I don't think Collectathon Platformers are inherently bad. Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie both have the collecting of things as the goal for challenges integrated into the world. DK64 on the other hand has a lot more of the busywork collecting you rightly criticize. The most egregious example being the colour-coded bananas. Kazooie & Tooie played like 3D extensions of the scavenger hunt-platforming puzzle hybrid DKC games while DK64 and Star Fox Adventures are more like Zelda games where you're also expected to pick up trash in a way that ruins their flow and pacing.

I’m waiting for that play through for achievement hunters 🫡
Really jogged old memories of dragging through the second disc of Xenogears and losing gear to a permanently removed party member
@Fadsy That happened a good number of times in older Square RPGs but not like Main Main characters.
