Found it's best to roll up the paper in long lengths and wrap around the insides to allow a hole in the center allowing air flow upwards. This works much better than placing wads of it in the whole bottom. Saw Alton Brown demonstrate that, and he adds some cooking oil on the paper too.
Just bought one of these yesterday. Made the mistake of filling it all the way up and dumping them all in my grill. Brought it to over 500 with the lid closed. I only really needed half. Lesson learned. Awesome chimney starter though.
Really funny video. Another way to light the chimney is with 2 lighter fluid cubes. Put then on the bottom. Light them up. Put the chimney on top of the fire. Then poor out on half side of the BBQ so you have your hot side and low heat side for like Hot dogs. Buns, etc...
Holy crap that was a lot of paper. I'm still just trying to figure out what is so funny that the camera lady kept laughing. Also, FYI, you may not want to start a fire right up next to your house like that. If the fire get out of control, it can spread to your house.
I used more than one a couple of newspapers I used and rolled around than insert into the bottom of chimney starter and lighted it at the bottom omg! Flame of fire rised up and after a few minutes the flames calmed and lowed down. Reading your comment than I will use one rolled of newspaper next time.
Just ordered the compact version. I'm already happy to leave the instant light coals and fluid behind. Although it sounds like your camera person was smoking more than just brisket! Just kidding, nice video!
Fantastic video, love the laughing in the background! Had me laughing myself silly and had to keep rewinding the bit where you looked into the hot coals!🤣🤣 Hope your food tasted just as good?
Brand new grill, but Ed, your using the wrong briquettes man, I could tell by the amount of dust coming out the bag. Kingsford son, cleanest burn, best flavor.
Hey sir I've seen your videos and you are too funny to watch like when you build the charcoal grill and this video when you back off of the chimney starter.HaHa!!! I wish I could meet you one day.Pleasy Reply.
L Derby well worth it and you really don't need more then one small piece of paper to get it going other ways might be faster but this is very easy and you can prep other things and just leave it alone
Take about 2 to 3 cotton balls and soak them with alcohol then light them up and set the chimney over them on your grill. much better then using paper.
You sure you’re not the real life Homer Simpson? I’m sure I could hear Marge sniggering whilst filming! A bit more newspaper Homer. A bit more to the left next time. You only managed to get three quarters of the flames in your face that time! 😂😅😂
I've used Kingsford for years picked up a bag of Royal oak all natural hardwood briquettes. Royal Oak All day 😎👍🤙 I will not ever use Kingsford ever again.
Thanks! I actually haven't seen that in my country yet.. I ordered the Weber Mastertouch this morning and it is supposed to be included (from what I've seen in other videos), so will see if we have them over here. That might solve a lot of my problems if I do get it.. Otherwise I'll have to get something made

I came here to find out if I could wing it my first time using a charcoal grill, and Ed, you gave me the courage I needed.
good video and it showed another newbie like me how its going to work..got a couple of laughs out of it as well...thanks ed!

Sold me. After another weekend of food an hour late I need this. Good to see someone using one first though.
Thanks for the video, was educational and entertaining! Just what I needed to watch.
Ahhhh so close to the house!!! Great video though!! Made me giggle a couple times!! I am going to go get one myself now! Thanks for the video!
Way to go Ed! Thanks for the tip. Just bought mine. They were right
Yes got it in Canada and works good don't need to use as much paper as I show
Little Miss Giggles on camera duty.
when's dinner?
Made some burgers, corn, and asparagus. Started it with the starter in this video. It worked fast.
I'm happy that your happy. Love Dad(grandpa)
Kenny K
make sure when dumping the hot coals to dump in the same direction as the wind. Nothing like some burning embers and smoke in your face.

The lady that is giggling sounds like she is complete peace 😌
Can't wait to get mine. Should make grilling in the winter easier. Don't have to worry about the wind blowing out the flames on my " pyramid".
the city is running out of newspaper
👋🤣
LMAOOOO you 'bout burnt your face off didn't ya fella??? oh my God that was HILARIOUS!
made me laugh buddie,,,very funny !!! hope you meal was just as good

I was gonna say the same thing about building a fire right next to the house. 👍🏽
boxer4u2nv thanks I have already moved it further away
She was giggling because the way he was presenting the product. That and its her husband, she loves and thinks hes funny. I even giggled!!!
@@vvarbug dont ever giggle again
@@beardedsoul7845 u just made me giggle
3:35 flicking off his invisible head of hair 🤣
Maybe move your grill a little further from your home (at least your siding)...but great video for starting it!!!! THANK YOU!!!
Little Miss Giggles made me giggle!😁
dude you only need one piece of paper
you are totally correct

@@ssshh6512 even one sheet of paper towel or even a small paper napkin, I usually drizzle some canola oil on it to burn hotter and longer.
And on top of a wood deck and close to the house wall!!
Just ordered the compact version. I'm already happy to leave the instant light coals and fluid behind. Although it sounds like your camera person was smoking more than just brisket! Just kidding, nice video!
lmao! that's what i was thinking lol 😂
B T K is now doing ads for charcoal chimneys. Interesting twist.😂
Also that grill needs to be pull further out in the yard. not near close to the wall where you can loose your home dear god. must be safe.
Thanks yes it has been moved
Fantastic video, love the laughing in the background! Had me laughing myself silly and had to keep rewinding the bit where you looked into the hot coals!🤣🤣 Hope your food tasted just as good?
recommended at least three feet away from the house, I responded to a couple of fires caused by a BBQ too close
The cleanest grill I ever did see
Brand new grill, but Ed, your using the wrong briquettes man, I could tell by the amount of dust coming out the bag. Kingsford son, cleanest burn, best flavor.
Royal Oak All day😎👍🤙
2 pieces of newspaper works great!
Roll your paper (about 3 sheets) into thin roles and then put them in around edges leaving a hole in the middle for air.
Hello from Poland. I'm going to buy one. Thanks.
love cameraman laugh
2:33 watch out with the mustache don't want to burn it !
best presentation ever.
House must be insured good to be that close to it
I've been using a chimney starter for years... use gloves. The temperature of the handle is irrelevant.
Boxer, Yes we now just use one sheet and it works fine
Your set up is mighty close to your siding. In the event of stray flame possible damage to paint job or burn down wall
Hey sir I've seen your videos and you are too funny to watch like when you build the charcoal grill and this video when you back off of the chimney starter.HaHa!!! I wish I could meet you one day.Pleasy Reply.
Thanks for the vid, need this for tomorrow
L Derby well worth it and you really don't need more then one small piece of paper to get it going other ways might be faster but this is very easy and you can prep other things and just leave it alone
damn son, bbq dragon for the best chimney. anything I've ever tossed in that pup is set in 10-15mins
Lol ,very funny and camera lady made it better😉
I love your laugh
well done john christie
Might as well shove a thesaurus on there mate!
Thanks my friend.
Take about 2 to 3 cotton balls and soak them with alcohol then light them up and set the chimney over them on your grill. much better then using paper.
I never seen a grill master wearing a lather jacket 😅
All the paper!!
this dude never put something on fire his entire life tell me im wrong
Why you keep your grill so close to the house?
Good show! Thanks
Love this video!!
3:33 I watched that about ten times hahahahahaha
same
ya grill is a lil close to the house aint it ? lol also did you have enough paper in there? ha! great video!
Wow... the amount of paper??? LOL! Nice video though.
You are spectacular.
Awesome!!! Cheers 🤘
You sure you’re not the real life Homer Simpson? I’m sure I could hear Marge sniggering whilst filming! A bit more newspaper Homer. A bit more to the left next time. You only managed to get three quarters of the flames in your face that time! 😂😅😂
Well done! That's right! :D
So full of beans! Lol
Ed, you may want to move that further away from the house.....
Thanks yes have moved it away
Thanks for the tip
First mistake...Using charcoal other than kingsford! lol
I've used Kingsford for years picked up a bag of Royal oak all natural hardwood briquettes. Royal Oak All day 😎👍🤙 I will not ever use Kingsford ever again.
Newspaper? Will it work if I fold up my cell phone and stuff it under there?
Do not make a fire close to your house.
Hidey ho neighborino
J Nardo 😂😂😂 Ned Flanders
👍🏻🔥
I would definitely burn this not near the house! Dang it!
Dude your BBQ is way too close to your house fire code dictates at least 15 feet from any structure.
Thanks I have moved it to another location
we get e paper, no actual newspaper here...how about a couple of paper towels?..
Who's the hyena laughing in the background
3 minutes in and I thought this video was about to turn into how to use a chimney starter to burn your house down.
Is this in Canada?
funny man :)
hi from in turkey
Selamün aleyküm gardaaaaaş
Use Weber Lighter cubes instead of paper.
Holy crap that's a little paper, don't see how much you put when they say a lot of paper
What's the gas grill for?
What was that thing that you chucked the coals into towards the end?
Weber 7403 Char-Basket Charcoal Briquet Holders --- they are really good to hold the coals in the place you want them
Thanks! I actually haven't seen that in my country yet.. I ordered the Weber Mastertouch this morning and it is supposed to be included (from what I've seen in other videos), so will see if we have them over here.
That might solve a lot of my problems if I do get it.. Otherwise I'll have to get something made
And he BBQ right next to his house
You don't need that much paper.
agree I now only us one sheet
How about skipping the paper and use charcoal light fluid in moderation - more on the bottom and less as you go up
You have a GAS grill in the background. Why don't you use THAT???
Olá amigo, só faltou colocar a carne para ficar um vídeo completo, parabéns, abraço 🤗
You might want to move it away from your house
Still laughin as hell.
Why not place charcoal in the grill, apply starter fluid, wait a few minutes, ignite fire, mix another drink while waiting on the fire???
For those who are serious about their BBQ lighter fluid is sacrilege. The fumes from the lighter fluid cooks into the food.
I guess you can drop some lighter fluid on newspaper to speed up the burning. The fluid will burn out way before the charcoal is ready.
Use the BBQ Dragon!
Eyebrows gone!
Y r u wearing a leather jacket??? & that was easy... My wife could almost do that but she's not allowed near anything flammable 😜🤣🤣🤣. Cheers 🥃🍻🍷
lost your eyebrows there ;) good video though! thanks
too close to the house
Paper make too much Smoke.
I like it
To close to the house bud.
What the hell's so funny ?!
Too close to the side of the house.
for me I rather paper of lighter fluid
I guess that video mean to be funny?
Please do not do this. One piece of paper is all you need. Also MOVE the grill away from the house
