I love Japan, for almost everything (food, people, history, uniqueness, culture etc.). What gets to my however after a while, are the endless announcements. Often in 3-4 languages (japanese, englisch, mandarin and korean). That is driving me crazy. Its nice to get information, but do they really need to be reapated again and again and again ?
@@swissfoodie3542 What gets me in every Japan vlogger's video, is the quite overwhelmingly loud classical-ish muzak that is played nearly everywhere. I do plan to visit the country, probably next year; for someone who loves music (and plays both classical and electric guitar) but hates unsollicited muzak, it's good to mentally prepare for this.
That train ride reminded me of the trip I took across Canada on VIA Rail, bumpy at times and smooth at others. That town looked like it had rolled up its sidewalks for the winter and was waiting for the summer tourism season.
Mr. Solo Travel, I love your videos. They very much open a window on the parts of traveling that support the traveler (getting to your destinations, eating, drinking, signage, accommodations), suggesting that some solid planning and investigation allow you to have a fuller experience as you travel where you have not been before. (And, of course, there are always "surprises!) And I see that there is quite a variety of means of travel, even within the framework of the train. Very entertaining and very, very helpful.
Nice vid as always. The bumping and swaying of the train brought back fond memories of the LIRR in the '60s and '70s which I rode often from Port Jefferson into NYC. Blessings and safe travels!
You know the overseas tourists are there because of you, right? You inspire so many people around the world to try the ferries and trains you discover. For me, I'm still in the discover phase. If STJ does it, I want to try it on my next trip. By the time my next trip happens, there are 30 different trips I want to try, and they could interfere with the primary purpose of my visit, which is always the same. But one day....! Also, you should use window FRAME (枠). FLAME = 炎. We don't want our windows to be on fire, especially during such a nice getaway. And oversea should be plural, but you have other things to be concerned about. I really want to try that train you ate on in October, or at least that's when the video was posted to RUclips. A clafoutis is very hard to find outside of France.
❤❤ Mr. Solo Travel. I always look forward to your beautiful videos especially when you travel by Train. Maybe one day I will get to travel on a beautiful Train. Thank You for sharing this awesome video.
All that swaying and bouncing was like a roller coaster. It also reminded me of bus trips to New York City where you had to hold on to the seat so you wouldn't pop out of the chair. The trip looked memorable with the great food and scenery. Glad to have seen the beautiful sights ❤
i took train when i was in Japan at September. It was very shaky but the lake view and sakurajima view was awesome. I was doing a whole Japan tour by using the 3 weeks JR rail pass. Visit so many cities and towns from Kyushu all the way to Hokkaido. It was an adventure.
@@RRRRRRP i did plan the 3 weeks adventure in Japan. My original plan is mainly focus in Kyushu. However, Japan Railway roll out a 4 corner Shinkansen stations challenge to complete by April, 2025. So i decide to do the whole country instead of Kyushu island and west Japan. This Sightseeing train in Kagoshima was on the list. It was a shaky ride but the view is stunning. And Kagoshima city is a very nice peacefully southern city. You should go visit if you travel to Kyushu island.
I'm sure Kagoshima is well known outside of Japan for Sakurajima, the Shimazu clan and Saigo Takamori. What a great little journey, the sandwich looked delicious as did your lunch,it's nice to see the return of "!!" and the views were impressive, thanks for uploading.
That rice bowl looks so good! Thank you for always showing the various train rides throughout Japan. Someday I may get there and will have to try some of the routes myself.
Thank you for this video. I like trains a lot, but I have been in Kyushu last year (and absolutely love it), and now there are so many other destinations in Japan that I want to visit. Next March, we will visit Tohoku, and after that, I have ideas for so many other destinations in Japan, where we havent been too.
One of the express lines from Shin-Hakodate to Sapporo goes by the water, absolutely lovely view there too. Maybe one day you can ride that line and talk about it. One of the nicest train rides I ever took in Japan.
How nostalgic! I boarded the same train back in November 2023 and the weather was exactly like the one in your video. It was bumpy but the view totally made up for it and I also got a counter seat. I wonder if Ibusuki is always so quiet because there weren't much people around even at the sand bath place. Thank you for sharing as always and I hope I can go back to Kyushu soon. Have you tried taking Aso Boy? Highly recommend you to try it!
Nice, some people pay a lot for being shacked at an fairground 😅. I think, this is fun. I will stay with some friends for a week in Kagoshima next year. Hotel and flights are booked allready. This train will go on the possible to do list. Thank you for the hint! Greetings from Germany! 🇩🇪🍻🇯🇵
I hear Australian accents!! We love exploring so the Japanese tourism board has done a lot of advertising here. My best friend is a travel agent. She said that a lot of the packages include more unique options for Aussie travellers. We are also dedicated train commuters so we love riding the rails in other countries.oh’ we also love to hit the slopes. So a lot of snowboarders will escape the hot summer to the mountains to take on the diamond runs so you’ll be hearing a lot of Aussie accents for the next 4 to 5 months
Nice relaxing trip if a bit bumpy. Sort of like most North American trains. Tracks are maintained for freight train use mostly so passenger train is jumpy. Custard dessert looked interesting.
I often used to arrive in Hiroshima station in a bullet train from the north and then take a local train inland to Miyoshi, getting on that old rickety train was like stepping back in time 100 years ! On one occasion I arrived in Hiroshima early evening and by the time I got on to the local train to Miyoshi it was dark. About halfway through the journey the train came to a sudden stop in the middle of nowhere, 20 mins later it moved backwards about 10 meters, stopped and then moved forwards again. This was all accompanied by long announcements in Japanese that I didn't understand.... A fellow passenger was kind enough to translate these announcements for me. Apparently the train had hit a deer and it had become trapped underneath the train and the driver, the conductor and several passengers were juggling the train backward and forwards in an effort to release it! Eventually they were successful and we proceeded on our way.
The ontamaran don looked so succulent. Loved how the okura (okra in US) looked. Curious if that was steamed or stir fried? The sea looked as bumpy and rough as the train ride. Maybe the rough winds also added to the shaky ride. All in all ty SJT for sharing. I love a good cup of coffee when i ride the train and enjoy the views. ❤️
If there is one thing I notice about travel in Japan, sea or ground, it's the endless crap that comes over the PA systems. They need to seriously address this. I don't know how the Japanese feel about this (do they like it or need it ?), but it drives most other people bonkers.
Thank you STJ-san; looks like it was an entertaining short trip. I am curious as to why the rail bed hasn't been fixed to the usual standard in your country. Happy travels! 🐻☕
“Is Kagoshima that popular?” Well, given it’s in the region of Japan that the Hoenn region from Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald is based on…and I just heard about another possible remake…
This brings back many great memories - Travelled by local train to Ibusuki in 2019 to visit the hot sand spa in the town. Really nice trip, lovely uncrowded vibe to area and hot sand spa is fabulous
The bare plywood walls and cheap household storm windows make it look like it was made by a bunch of 10 year olds, who are also apparently responsible for track maintenance. Not your usual Japanese train.
The Train of Nearly Endless Announcements. That was a really scenic route, thank you for bringing us along.

The bumpiness is part of the charm.

Thank you to show it to us. When i come next year to Japan, i will ride this train ,i hope. ❤ I like the rural Japan. Kind Regards from Germany.
The pork and egg sandwich on the train looks so yummy. The egg and pork are thicker than the bread😂
Much like life, sometimes the ride's a bit rough.
That's deep
Definitely true. Bushyboy Oz.

Great trip. Classic train, bumpy rail, but can run at high speed, this train driver feels like Rally Driver for sure.
A bumpy ride in Japan is an experience, but it is the norm elsewhere in the world ! Thanks for the video
Nice! Another unique and fun train experience. Thx for taking us along again!!!!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful and unique train journey

Blessings and safe travels!
I attended CW Post campus of LIU in the mid-2000s and frequently rode on the LIRR. It was still frequently bumpy 😂
Beautiful sea view i enjoyed it

I love it that you have trains to take you everywhere. We have nothing like it. The food looked delicious 😊 thanks for another great video STJ 😊
Thanks for the video. Very nice.
i really enjoy yours ferry and train videos, watching you channel helped me a lot during covid-19
thanks for post your experiences!!!! 💜🤞
Thanks again! I want to to back to Kagoshima.
This was a fun, bumpy and delicious trip, Arigato STJ-san!
Great to see a new video ^^ thank you!
Two things I don't want my egg sandwich to be: Sweet and juicy LMAO😂
He probably meant moist :).
you should try them. believe me, it is exactly what you want it to be.
I'm sure Kagoshima is well known outside of Japan for Sakurajima, the Shimazu clan and Saigo Takamori.

Loved this adventure! Going to Kyushu next spring. Looking forward to following your travels throughout Japan.
Fun to be the first to see your film. I love your serie.
First video i can remember getting a triple !! looked great!

A different kind of trip. Nice one day excursion.
4:40 A train famous for being a bumpy ride? Perfect trip to bring your baby along!
That's so cool. Thank you
The bumpy ride reminded me of the Sound Transit commuter train between Tacoma and Seattle.
We went on that train in 2023 - great experience and then ibusuki hot sand bath afterward 😊

What an interesting car. Feels retro, like it’s actually some old lady’s house.
I don’t know about Kagoshima but yakushima has been popular for a long time. I went 10 years ago.
This year I am going to ibusuki for 3 nights.
The shaky train reminds me of the New York City subway trains! 😮😮
I love this channel. I would love to go to Japan. The only thing is that I can't walk.
Nice trip

We need a train song... it doesn't feel right to sing sunflower to ourselves during a train video.
😂
Such lovely scenery and the food looked nice.
Are the chirping sounds in the town the foot crossings for roads or something else?
The ontamaran don looked so succulent. Loved how the okura (okra in US) looked. Curious if that was steamed or stir fried?

It wouldn't be Japan without the endless setsumei.🗾
This is how our current trains are in NJ. We have no fast smooth ones, except maybe Amtrak's Acela.
Thank you STJ-san; looks like it was an entertaining short trip. I am curious as to why the rail bed hasn't been fixed to the usual standard in your country. Happy travels! 🐻☕
I wish i could be this guy so bad his job is litterally vacation
I don’t think you mentioned but the train also gives off a jet of steam at the start of the journey- even though it’s not a steam train!
❤❤
❤
I enjoyed this but I have a silly question, what is the purpose of the chirping noise? Is it a bird deterrent?
I think you might be talking about the sound from the crosswalks, for visually impaired pedestrians to know when it's safe to cross the road maybe
The train seems to very similar to our UK 2 car sprinter trains, but older.
Onboard catering?....................will there be curry?.................I suspect not on this train, sandwich is very well presented, looks nice.
The brown grass on the tracks at the train station make it look derelict.
Isn’t there an app that says when the train is supposed to arrive?
こんにちわハク。ユウについてのメッセージを残しておきました。ユウの冒険で、彼は孤独で大変な時期を過ごしているので、新しい家に引っ越してきたので友達を頼ってもいいでしょう。前回のビデオでそれを見ただろうか?

I love bumpy trains. You die differently can’t say they didn’t warn you.
I can just imagine the death grip he had on his sandwiches when the train was shaking madly.
👍👍👍👍❤
I have vertigo, of course I got motion sick! 😆😅🤣😂
Why go all the way and not go to the sand baths?
“Is Kagoshima that popular?”

Id get car sick lol
we use spoons in the US
Very informative Captain Obvious 😅
"popular" probably not "cheaper then the big cities an provinces" yes i think so
The bare plywood walls and cheap household storm windows make it look like it was made by a bunch of 10 year olds, who are also apparently responsible for track maintenance. Not your usual Japanese train.
Ha ha bush train
!!
I would hate to be on that train with the CONSTANT intrusive announcements. It ruins the trip.
Is "okura" what we 'muricans call okra? Yeesh.
Just because you're American it doesn't give you authority over the way people around the world pronounce words, Sheesh.
Dude, in Japan it is called Okura....that "muricans" comment was rude and arrogant..
