Some recommendation. 1. Keep a track of all the medicine, there are many generic medicines available that can reduce the cost of medication significantly. Not sure about Gujarat, but in Rajasthan, there are many excellent hospitals run by govt. which actually provide free of cost medicines. 2. You already mentioned, move to cheaper accommodation 3. Reconsolidating the loan is a good idea, but if the have house which they can mortgage to bank, the interest would be much lower. 4. Look for opportunities to switch to some stable job. 30% increment can change his finance dynamics. 5. Eating out and weekend spend should be completely avoided. 6. He can take his family’s health in control by setting an example himself, in case he learns about nutrition, exercise, sleep and cooking. This all can be done by initiating baby steps. Investment in a good weighing scale do help some people.

I was in a very miserable situation 4 years ago. I had a debt of 45 lakhs on credit cards (APR 6%) from my sister’s and my own marriages, as well as a few debts back home. To make matters worse, I lost my newborn baby at the same time. I had no financial backing. However, I had no other option than to increase my passive income from an alternate job and increase my overall income. Four years later, I am debt-free and am almost on the verge of financial freedom. I have also been blessed with a beautiful baby girl one year ago.
In the end it's all about gratification, controlling sensations in the body and perception of society, one has to put the head down and really work hard to be financially independent.. the question is is it better to have stress at work for growth or stress at basic foundational sustenance.. it's difficult and requires a lot of decipline.

Nothing will matter, health is the real wealth.

In the end it's all about gratification, controlling sensations in the body and perception of society, one has to put the head down and really work hard to be financially independent.. the question is is it better to have stress at work for growth or stress at basic foundational sustenance.. it's difficult and requires a lot of decipline.

@@saumitit944and didn't you hear utkarsh also said that he is not actively doing anything to lose weight and just being insulin resistant doesn't mean gives you a reason to sit and don't even try anything

The medicines are also a huge recurring monthly expense. He can cut that down anywhere between 20-95% by opting for generic medicines instead of the branded ones. Most common medicines are literally 10% of the branded medicines' cost.
Source: I buy diabetes and heart disease generic medicines for my parents every month.
