😂I forgot about our history of not showing up for big games but it’s ok I’m not jumping ship on this team because regardless of how this season ends I firmly believe that we have a bright future!
A lot of Vikings podcasters have refused to acknowledge that the franchise has NEVER won a Super Bowl and has not been there since the early 70s. That is 50 years ago folks. This team has demonstrated a complete lack of ability to run for 5 yards when needed. I am a firm believer that the flash positions are far less important than dominating the line of scrimmage. If the line can create a hole from the 5 yard line, they stand a much better chance of winning their games.
@@LockedOnVikingsthe point is our offense since 2022 has not been sustainable. It’s a big reason why we may not win a SB - you have to win 4 games against playoff teams. If we can’t run, we can’t give the defense a break and they’ll get gashed like Gibbs gashed them 2nd half. If we can run, other teams can easily come back because we can’t sustain leads and bleed clock. Not being able to run limits our offense and turns us into a one dimensional team which we have been especially in the redzone this year. We need to prioritize building the OL this off season
@@joshvogt6687 I agree. I just really hope we go with JJ McCarthy and use the cap savings to sign a premier gaurd in FA. I’d resign jones and add a complementary back in the 3rd/5th round, and draft a CB/C/another Guard/IDL. If we resign everyone on the current squad we could be serious next year.
Calmly doing the commercials in between venting about that game must have been hard. 😄 Man, that was a frustrating loss! The Vikes really didn't play well, Lions were just better in almost every aspect. Maybe there was a bit of emotional hangover after the GB win and the team celebrating Darnold like he won them a Lombardi. I hope this game gets them back to earth in a good way. I know they can do better and I trust KOC to push the right buttons to get them playing awesome again. We still have an axe to grind with the Rams. Go Vikes!!
It looked like Sam was to hyped for the game. Calm Sam plays much better. That said, If i am the Rams HC, I blitz until Sam proves he can throw under pressure.
Love how accurate your feelings are to my own Luke! Seriously idk if I've ever been more frustrated watching a Vikings game. I feel like it wouldn't be this bad if the Vikings didn't already show earlier in the year they could make these plays, but they choose now to whiff on all of them. Just so damn frustrating
I absolutely agree that we just came into the game without having the right answers to what the Lions were doing in our bag. I don’t put too much of this on the defense. Everyone was predicting a high scoring game of like 28-30. We were really hoping that we’d be able to get a few key turnovers which they did. The thing that really stands out to me is that we seemingly didn’t really do anything different to counter the pressure that Darnold was experiencing and it didn’t seem like we did anything to help him to settle down and get into rhythm. We still can’t be physical and run the ball when we need to. We can run the ball after the passing game has stressed the defense and wore them out, but we can’t just go on one of those long drives where you let your defense rest and wear out their defense by running down their throat. I get that in this day and age, it’s statistically more productive to pass than to run, and you should focus on that, but a dominant offense is going to be able to stress a defense in both areas, and can use either to setup the other. Also, it seems like every team is going to have a decent chunk of plays where the play design is to have the QB get the ball out quick and in rhythm and plays where they add bodies to increase the blocking with fewer route runners. It feels like those plays don’t exist in our play designs. Maybe I just don’t notice them, but our QB is always amongst the most hit QBs. While I do think we have this aura as being a top offense, “QB Whisperer, best play-caller, etc.” We’re still just a 10thish ranked offense, and we’ve only eclipsed the Lions average score of 33.2 pts per game twice. Great offenses will have those moments where they drop 40 on a team. If we’re going to beat these offensive juggernauts, we’re really going to have to figure out how to turn on the faucet offensively. We’re depending on our defense to provide turnovers to get us our wins, but against a top offense, we probably need to expect to be able to outscore a team, and that just doesn’t mean only throw 20 yard routes.
Honestly, I put 0 on the defense in this game. They were only going to show up for so long with the offense inability to stay on the field. They got tired in that second half and it showed.
In their defence (no pun intended) the Lions have the highest scoring offense in the NFL. A defense can only do so much against that if their offense doesn't hold up it's end of the bargain.
I agree. Sometimes, the way to settle a QB down is to hand the ball off for a while. Successful plays, even if you have to punt, are better than a string of incomplete passes that further erode the QB's confidence.
I think the Vikings can rebound from this loss. It is unfortunate that they are facing the Rams and their tendency to manage blitzes well but I think the Vikings can get a win in LA. There were a couple of Vikings' wins that I discounted due to their opponents not executing but I underestimated the Vikings' defense's role in that. The same was true for last night's game - Detroit accounted for some of Sam's struggles. But KOC has a real tendency to not run the ball, which is a true flaw in his play calling and a closer game might have placed more pressure on Goff and impacted the ultimate outcome. Fingers crossed.
Well if you were wondering where the "lay an egg" game was - there is was. I'm disgusted with the offense. The defense did enough to give the offense a monumental head start and they squandered every chance they got. KOC just forgets the run game too often and always tries to put a fancy bow on every drive. We can't just pound the rock into the end zone - we've got the be cute and show finesse and go shotgun instead of bringing in your FB and power run in. The IOL / IDL cannot be ignored anymore. Since Zimmer, this team has not taken OL play seriously. It's always been getting the shiny new toy instead of enforcing the trenches. That’s mostly bc of the Kirk contract; they’re already paying O’Neill and Darrisaw a fair amount. I’d bet the farm that they pick up a high-end guard in FA (and probably a DT too)
That game was Darnold's first really big game. He was on a very bad Jets team then he went to a horrible Panthers team. He has never played in a big game with everything on the line. This playoff run can be that for the Vikings. Will it be? Dunno, maybe?

I am not one of those people "hoping the Vikings would fail", but with that said, at this point in my 48 years of Loyal Vikings Fandom, I could care less if we went 17-0 in Regular Season. The only wins I care about are in the Biggest Games, In The Playoffs, When It Counts. If we lose those, then 14-3 means jack sh-t to me, 17-0 means jack sh-t to me. I want Playoff Victories, and a Super Bowl Trophy in my case.... I'd settle for a damn Wild Card Victory on Monday for now.. Any other Accolades are totally meaningless to me.
Sam Darnold lost a LOT of money last night for his future. He choked. He couldn't read the blitz. He threw high, he threw inaccurate. He saved the Vikings a lot of money last night.
I agree the refs missed a lot of calls for both teams The Lions got away with a few but the Vikings had three delay of games not called that lead to first downs two of which got them field goals. One was The big run play another was a big pass play both led to a field goals

Detroit played press man against the best receiver in the world with a practice squad defense with a secondary full of cashiers from target and then they ran it. down our throats and gave jared geoff the night off. The gap between us and Detroit is wider than we thought. Probably should figure out our red zone offense instead of coming up with new touchdown celebrations for tik tok.
It wasn’t a choke. Lions just clearly better team, and for years now. The demise of the Lions was overhyped because people wanted it and were trying to manifest it. This team is locked in and the NOLA boys on it will return to the Superdome
I just dont undersand why not go all out like the lions. They had nonplay actions no screens passing on the goaline no rushing ? Our defense is good for majority of game final minutes there good enuough to hold opponents for offense
Goff threw 5 interceptions vs the Texans yet the Lions came back from 18 points down to win that one and it wasnt nearly as important as this game. Dont want to hear it. Texans had a healthy defense and we had a backup defense on the #1 seed game. Vikings...yall dont want to play detroit as much as yall think you do. Stay down.
Yall dismissed 12 straight detroit wins and when we lost to the Bills here came the Vikings cheering. Dont want to hear that either about everyone calling yall frauds for scoring 9 points and giving up 31 points in the most important game of the year
Fear not Vikings….JJMcCarthy will provide you with a PROVEN WINNER under the lights, and SHAME on ALL in SKOL nation that were ready to JUMP-SHIP on the FUTURE of this franchise….you ONLY scored 9 however, #9 McCarthy is STILL in the building!!!
Horrible take putting this on the whole team saying they were awful, saying the team just wasn’t ready for that big game. It was 100% Darnold. The defense was ELITE ELITE. The run game was really good. Darnold threw the game. He had wide open first reads that he consistently passed on, then to overthrow every single pass? I feel sorry for the rest of the team. That would have been a blowout if Sam Played normal.
He missed some throws but Detroit’s defense was smothering him. Collinsworth said it all night. It was a solid game plan from DC Aaron Glenn. I’m a Lions fan and I wouldn’t give up on Sam yet. See what happens next Monday.
@cjohnsdog part of that goes to not having any short passes to beat those blitzes too. The lions did not have the horses on defense to seriously compete if the vikings just made offense easier on themselves.
As a lions die hard fan I can admit Sam darnold didn’t look comfortable he was to hype but main thing he held the ball toooo long on a lot of plays y’all oline played very well on a lot of plays but no oline gone hold forever you have to get of the ball!!!! Sam had the look of stark raving terror in his eyes. You knew from the first camera shot of his eye bulbs nearly shooting out of his head that this was not going to be good. Is 'Sam' back or did Sam just have a game where he needed a brisk slap across the face? Thank gawd this didn't happen in the Super Bowl.
In Detroit there was a lot of debate about whether or not Sam would melt down or play like he has been. I was sure hoping for a meltdown, but never imagined one as bad as this. Thanks Sam! I'm not sure if I'd rather see the Rams or Vikings again down the road.
That could be said by every team. When you play tough games sometimes they don’t go the way you want. Every fanbase has these choke stories. 31 teams are disappointed every year.
The thing that Vikings fans don’t seem to realize is you have a good system Kirk cousins looked good last year and the year before and then he went to the Falcons and didn’t look good the same way Darnold didn’t look good somewhere else. let JJ McCarthy take over next year Sam Donald is not the answer. The games that you name where he played well were against shit teams. The fact is our defense is trash and y’all could only muster nine points. you a little better than the Packers.🤷🏾♂️
Packers aren't a sb contender, but they aren't shit either. Saying that Darnold didn't do anything this year is just saying you didn't watch him play lol. He can have an awful game (ala this one) and still have played really well at other points this season.
@ level of competition is relevant and in the biggest games just like the Packers they lose. Bro party pass for 377 yards against that last week your quarterback didn’t even have half of that.
You make some excellent points. 1) The Vikings have a good system but it can be undermined by bad play calling by the OC/HC. 2) The Vikings still have JJ if Darnold doesn't pan out. 3) Some of the wins the Vikings got this year were because of the opponents' mistakes, not necessarily the Vikings' good play. Lastly, the Detroit defense was hobbled and held the Vikings to 9 points - not a resounding endorsement for the Vikings offense.
I wouldn’t pay two cents for Darnold if he can’t finish with a Super Bowl win. It’s going on seventy years of peeing our hard earned money into nothing.

Hey as a Lions fan I have to say I thought we were to depleted to eat the Vikings but somehow our defense become superhuman like. I think it was the Anzalone affect and well Gibbs!
Great job Vikings I am sure we will meet again!
Not this season.
Gibbs is a BEAST!!
100% on Darnold. This was statistically worse than the JOSH FREEMAN GAME.
If your Vikings could have scored on just one of those early red zone trips it would have been a different game. It's only one game, you're gonna get knocked down, the important thing is to bite some kneecaps on your way back up!
Totally agree. Even if the scoring was two more field goals, it makes the game closer and puts additional stress on the Lions.
WE OUT HERE!!!
Lions put that belt to Ass baby!!! Whooooo!
I feel the same way. Only a Super Bowl win will make up for all the heartache of decades of subpar outcomes.
Spot on! It was a choke job.
JJ M.won a ring in college & has been in big games unlike Sammy
Sam Darnold lost a LOT of money last night for his future. He choked. He couldn't read the blitz. He threw high, he threw inaccurate. He saved the Vikings a lot of money last night.
I agree the refs missed a lot of calls for both teams The Lions got away with a few but the Vikings had three delay of games not called that lead to first downs two of which got them field goals. One was The big run play another was a big pass play both led to a field goals
It’s funny how we forget the past when we have a hopeful season,,,ahhh how the memories all come back And I have to laugh,,hilarious it really is funny how this pattern replays through out history I mean this is the only outcome we know as Vikings fans (I’m 60)for real sorry,,statistically it has to happen eventually lol just don’t hold your breath there’s no such thing as changing allegiances Vikings are stoic hang in there we still have a long shot this season who knows maybe things will change someday (sorry for venting)
Holy shit. Every team gets screwed by calls and every fan thinks it only happens their team. Quit crying.
@@thomasjerry652 Vikings fans always cry about anything win or lose…. Sadly it’s true I mean I’m a honest Vikings fan if we lose we lose I’m not going to blame the refs or one player bc a win and a loss is a team effort out there our fans clearly don’t see that anymore they got ptsd from years past. Lions are a great team who really I hope we get one more shot against hopefully we beat the Rams.
Seems to me that they celebrated week 17 😂
So, anyone got any coupon codes for bleach?
Detroit played press man against the best receiver in the world with a practice squad defense with a secondary full of cashiers from target and then they ran it. down our throats and gave jared geoff the night off. The gap between us and Detroit is wider than we thought. Probably should figure out our red zone offense instead of coming up with new touchdown celebrations for tik tok.
It wasn’t a choke. Lions just clearly better team, and for years now. The demise of the Lions was overhyped because people wanted it and were trying to manifest it. This team is locked in and the NOLA boys on it will return to the Superdome
The Vikings have lost 6 games in a row now in prime time TV.
Keep it real the ref’s hella helped the kittens we ain’t choke
There were bad calls both ways, officiating has been worse every year
Sam Darnold was the one who choked it away! Not the Vikings
I just dont undersand why not go all out like the lions. They had nonplay actions no screens passing on the goaline no rushing ? Our defense is good for majority of game final minutes there good enuough to hold opponents for offense
Just accept it the Lions are the King. Skol turned to Skunk.
Dont want to hear that either about everyone calling yall frauds for scoring 9 points and giving up 31 points in the most important game of the year
Playing the Rams was worst case scenario. Our season ends next week.
Frfr
Ya rams are gonna have there way with yall
Got to love the faith nice job… our fan base is terrible no faith in our team or anything? Come on
@ haha fr the faith is gone , the season is gone. Weak fan base
@@Codemandragon21 they already gave up

That would have been a blowout if Sam
Played normal.
But y’all beat LA y’all will forget about this game even though y’all on the road for the rest of the playoffs which is unfair no matter who lost this game no way they should be a 5 seed with 14wins the league has to change that it’s unfair!!
Nobody is mentioning the holding calls that didn't get called or the intentional grounding that didn't get called, Vegas controls the NFL people, this game was pre-determined before the coin toss, might as well be WWE
My Packers lost, they didnt get annihilated tho.
They beat Bears and Packers twice.
A 14-2 team played a 14-2 team. Y'all act like the Vikings lost against the Raiders. 🤷🏿♂️
Because the offense got shut down a a practice squad defense.
@cambeck9194 practice squad is on a team that's 14-2, now 15-2. Vikings played a really good team. If Detroit lost, I'm sure the fans would've been calling the Lions frauds instead of admitting they played a really good team.
Did you really think you were beating the Lions? 😂😂😂
Can’t wait to come back to this when we beat the rams next week then most likely the lions in 2 weeks depending if they even play us or lose to someone else lol you do realize it’s not playoffs yet right? Vikings aren’t done yet brother
@csprods7854 Dream on
@@csprods7854 crazy to have so much “confidence” in beating a team that they’ve lost to 5 games in a row now
My bad brother I guess I I can’t have faith in my team? What are you the RUclips police… greed no one can enjoy watching football games anymore people like you is why it’s impossible to enjoy it
@@antonchigurh7820 So you’re basically saying I shouldn’t have confidence in my team meaning I should be like a lot of our fans and just say the season is over and we have no shot in playoffs got it? I’m not going to give up over one bad game…
One and done
Y’all acting like our season is completely over think about it we beat the rams next week technically we could still get 2 home games with some luck and even if we have to play on the road the whole playoffs go ahead think about it after this loss no one will believe in us or pick us people always say the playoffs is what starts your season so there you go.
and when they do their typical prime time no show and are one and done what will you say ? Us older fans hold the team to a higher standard we have seen this movie too many times where the Vikings are good in the regular season and then just get destroyed in meaningful games it gets very tiring I have followed the Vikings for almost 50 years and still waiting for a SB win .
That’s exactly why our fans suck ass cry sore losers… so you have no believe bc of being in dirt dinosaur age? Idc if you were a fan for 1,000 years or 1 year it’s 2025 stop hating pstd from a game of football. Have some faith or find a new team brother. I don’t know what to tell you
I’m not going to waste my time on pathetic losers who got no faith
And just for your information every game including the regular season is just as important. You can’t make the playoffs without a winning record bud… come on common sense
Be funny to see your comments when we beat the rams
Excited to see Detroit lose to Washington
9ts
No, Vikings special team choked!
First round exit
It’s embarrassing being a Vikings fan at this point
All these years the same crap.
That could be said by every team. When you play tough games sometimes they don’t go the way you want. Every fanbase has these choke stories. 31 teams are disappointed every year.
31-9 😂
They always choke, if it was the jets we would have given them the game too.
