I'm just gonna say it. The time they spent on Claire and Carmy should've been spent on Ebrah 🤷🏾♀️
Exactly! I hate that we didn’t get more of his story.
I’m not particularly interested in him actually
I actually think Claire was beneficial. She's a stepping stone. I think the ending would be very different without Claire existing.
and you should say it again!
Agreed but I know his episode in season 3 gonna hit. The stretch of time also goes beautifully with his character fearing change.
whoever speaks ill of my girl sydney shall not prosper
Period
Ah-men
I actually want chef Luc to visit Marc @ the bear & run in2 the beautiful Sydney
@@MelisaManasethen the drama begins 😊 I low key want to see carm jealous 😂
AMEN
The way Claire gave me absolutely nothing but I understand completely what they were going for and I still appreciate her presence. Everyone in this season was given a chance to grow and Carmy's growth partially came from attempting to be with Claire and let somebody in emotionally. Who better than his childhood bestfriend/sweetheart? It was cute-ish
There’s a girl on TikTok that makes fun of the quirky indie love interest and that’s all I got from Claire 😂. But yeah, I also agree they needed to introduce someone as a catalyst for Carmys growth.
@@LeeyaMakesNoise also good thing Claire can't read minds cuz she would've been absolutely shattered after seeing Sydney was the reason Carmy came down from a panic attack instead of thinking of her.
@@NXD_95 what do you mean? Which scene are you talking about?
@@izzyNFT69 beginning of ep9, he's having another anxiety attack before the open thinking of Claire and his family. Only thing that helps him calm down a bit is thinking about Syd and how nice she has been to him.
@@NXD_95 I'll have to rewatch that. Thanks!
We definitely need Tina and Ebrah centric episodes next season, also what the beef is between Sugar and Francine Fak. Like genuinely curious what that lady could've done to make SUGAR of all ppl to hold a grudge for years.
I’m so glad we are talking about Francine Fak. I had finished the second season weeks ago and randomly I was sitting down like, “wtf did Francine do??”
Ok can someone pls remind me who Francine is? I don't remember her existing at all 😂
@@josepha133in the flashback episode we learn that sugar and Francine( Faks sister) have beef and so she’s not allowed in any family events. We don’t ever see Francine tho
Will Poulter looked tf good! More of him, please.
It’s the first time I ever thought he was attractive, I was watching like DAMN WILL and his character was so calm and lovely.
I just wanna give mad props to Matty Matheson because he originally started out as a cooking consultant and guest star in the first season and grew to become a scene stealer this season!
I'm gonna call Mom - that section with Richie was pure gold amongst heaps fo other fantastic lines. In fact all his parts were pure gold
I imagine the faks as a family of traveling clowns with their little car, I love it 😂
lol
I'll fullly ship Carmy and Sydney when the writers ship them with therapy
No, why is no one shipping Sydney and Marcus in these comments!! 😭
@@GirfDays I low-key ship her with a few of the guys but I didn't want to be dragged by Amanda 😩😂
@@GirfDaysi think it’s mainly bcs she rejected him. people definitely shipped sydney and marcus a lot when season 1 came out!
@@GirfDays who gives a fuck about them? anyways....
@@GirfDaysthat was my first thought! I’m ngl I see the potential for Carmy and Sydney and I won’t be mad if they do end up together but I really like her with Marcus as of now. They work really well together
Ebra was genuinely in a war so the uniform thing was just sad and I think the fear of the unknown may stem from the destabilization war brings
He was in the Somali civil war. Remember when they first introduced the brigade system, Ebra said "i was in a brigade once. Many people died."
Sugar not telling Donna she’s pregnant out of fear of her mom’s reaction is so heartbreaking. their family experienced so much grief I can just imagine sugar thinking (bringing in a new life) the news would destroy her mom even more.
Yeah I don't think we talk enough about how this man actually gave her a fake number 😬
Lmaooo he fr lied about it and everything
I was yelling at my screen like "girl stand up" 😭
he literally paused then changed the last digit I had to laugh
Instead of taking the L decides to get it from Fak to call him. Be serious right now.
Facts facts I was like Claire dear you shoulda have sensed it would not end well
The Claire storyline made me zone out lol AND the moment he starts dating, he stops going to meetings...idk thoughts to be thunk
I noticed that Sydney and Pete (at least in season two as far as I recall) are the only people who never call Natalie "Sugar".
Sydney and Nat built The Bear if we're being real!
Sydcarmy is a season 5, many years of therapy, Carmy jealous, Carmy giving her shares in the business and STOP YELLING AT HER EVERY 15 MINUTES AND SHOW UP CONSISTENTLY endgame. If it's not like that, ion want it! (yes I still do)
Also! Ebrah’s arthritis was flaring up, he probably felt like he couldn’t keep up. And the uniform thing, it’s heavily implied in season one he was in the army back in his home country; he’s against a top to bottom uniform, he mentions he’s seen what hierarchies do and something about a change in leadership. He’s a war veteran with arthritis in the culinary field. Even if he wanted to learn as bad as Tina, he probably physically couldn’t.
the moment he starts dating, he stops going to meetings.......................... i cannnnnnnnnnnn't believe i didn't see that when it happened but jeeeeeez. very "no longer need therapy bc my girlfriend can take on all my problems" 🥴
@@freshonlybakery Carmen is very extreme. He’s found “joy and amusement” in Claire and their relationship so the work (restaurant and group therapy) must fall to the wayside because to him it’s one or the other. He can’t split his focus, it’s 100% this or that
i love that observation about Ebrah, amazing truly
@@lulia294 thank you chef!🫡
I love your observations, and I feel like it's very realistic to the show !!!
i agree that claire's characterization (or lack thereof) was oddly "manic pixie dream girl"ish for someone who's an ER doctor
Richie’s episode was definitely my favorite I felt it on a personal level - to have the experience of something in a short amount of time be so significant to your character/self-revelation it felt very human.
the writers are so messy (lovingly) for the claire/carm/syd storyline because if claire and carm are supposed to be together THEN WHYYY is syd/carm so rife with thematic parallels, as well as soulmates-coded imagery & dialogue?!!!!! MESS!! LOVE IT
THAT!
RIGHT!!!!
i feel like claire was a good foil to carmy because like you said they both have high stress jobs but when we see glimpses of claire at her job shes calm and collected and its maybe bc she doesnt have the trauma carmy has and so claire felt less like the kind of person he needs to be with and more the kind of person he needs to become. like shes the proof that you can have a high stress job and not let it consume your life even though carmy thinks he cant and i think thats why it especially hurts claire at the end when he says what he said in the walkin because she has that high stress job and still makes time for the people in her life
YES
this is such a good take !!
@@lizzieteeter6428 ahhh thank you!!
i really like this take!
ohh this take?! you chewed that!!
I'm so glad you noticed the treatment Sydney. The men like to yell at her.
And I couldn't help but notice the contrast between her and Claire this season. I don't know if the writers purposely added that. Sydney is an outsider and flawed but she genuinely cares for everyone. Claire is this perfect girl from Carmy's childhood that everyone knows and loves. It was interesting to observe.
But i absolutely love Sydney. She is the heart of this show. ❤
I totally agree. I nearly teared up when Richie approached Sydney’s Dad on the friends-and-family night and raved about how much they all loved Sydney and how important she is to them. RICHIE, SAY THIS STUFF TO SYDNEY!!!!!
Yes, absolutely. There are even scenes where they cut from Carmy&Claire to Sydney alone. Also, in the later episode I don’t know when, they cut from Claire to Sydney and back?, but def Claire to Syd. Like the show is emphasising their different presence and meaning in Carmy’s life.
Claire’s whole arc and character felt like a fucking fever dream to me. Like, what was even happening? Carmy is going to a fucking party? While he should be working on the restaurant and on his mental health. Like, be for real?
i absolutely loved seeing more Natalie this season
Agreed
girl yes, Richie stole the season and how! what! his episode was my favorite and was a perfect follow up to such an intense episode. i cried multiple times and i hated this man last season. absolutely incredible. like i've never been so proud of a fictional character 😭
SO REAL!!! i was legit laughing along with him in joy too
i didn’t mind claire because i knew they weren’t going to last long. and as one dimensional as she was, i think it was necessary to see how/why carmy is so self-sabotaging. he doesn’t know how to balance his life outside of the restaurant and is very self deprecating.
the christmas episode had me GAGGED. jamie lee curtis came to that set mad as hell and wanted to prove to everyone why she got that oscar..
also as much as i do like sydcarmy I can’t see the writers putting them together 😭 carmy is too emotionally unstable and i feel like it would end up like him and claire and would cause drama within the restaurant and it isn’t a show revolved around ships. but IF they do, i think it would be in way later seasons.
Not her proving why she got that oscar 😂😂 nah she did the damn thing lol
this show aint about ships....but their relationship is literally the center of the show. like even if people see this as platonic....that is still the foundation of the show. you talkin about this show like its a cw drama lol
@@wyntahb3968 oscar???
Personally, I don’t think that Sydney and Carmen have romantic chemistry like that they just seem like two pals. But that could be the writers/actors doing.
you can’t seem them putting syd and carmy together but they wrote the panic attack scene where she is what calms him down and the scene under the table?
I definitely agree that someone should be introduced as a love interest for Sydney to start mess
Marcus?????
@@GirfDays no a new character
Y'all rmr the montage where sydney went around restaurants asking restaurant owners about partnerships and working a business? There was this one black woman, shaved hair, sups cute, was talking about how her past business partner did her dirty or something.
y'all seeing my vision?!
@@keychains5806 I would really like to see an episode where carmy tries to run the bear without Sydney
@@keychains5806oh i would be obsessed with that!!
claire felt like a guest star from another show
Why is this so funny
Plsssss
Tina's growth this seaaon was so beautiful to witness. She went from my least favorite to my top 3. And the same with Richie, his episode was great and was much needed. Loved seeing Marcus learn and frolick around Copenhagen too
What I like about Richie's arc is that a lot of his anger comes from grief and so does the loss of purpose. In s1 Carmy wanted to change everything that Richie associated with Mikey which eventually created friction between them. Losing purpose after the death of a loved one is so common and I like that they showed Richie regaining it in a way that it's connected to his daughter (this ties up with him asking Cicero for a job in ep 6). The Bear's portrayal of grief is very well done in how messy and chaotic and somehow never ending it is.
As someone who’s worked in a Kitchen with an angry head chief who yells it’s so bad I was getting defensive when Carmy would yell at Syd. The Christmas episode made me understand why Carmy feels the need to yell Māori of his family don’t listen unless he raises his voice so of course he’s gonna yell at his staff to get them to listen
45:42 this is so real bc i need to see carmy jealous about to flip tables before they make the leap to be together
this could just stem from me thinking that anything with a mc established relationship can get boring rrly fast but who knows
YESSS
Even if it’s just slight jealousy I don’t want him going off the depend or anything even just a side eye is enough because at the end of the day he is supposed to be growing or whatever and I feel like psychotic jealousy would teeter a little to close to regression. Ideally though, he’ll make a snarky comment (or several) or something like she did with Claire
@@panny7227he made snarky comments when Sydney’s dish was mentioned in the review. In his meltdown he was clearly jealous of her and couldn’t hide it anymore. The jealousy is what caused the screaming to get her off the expo.
I don’t want to see what Carmy would do to someone if he was jealous in a romantic sense. 😬
I'm glad Carmy got locked in the freezer. He needed to get out of the way 😂
The Carmy and Claire stuff didn’t quite work because Claire is written like a very stereotypical “cool girl” “dream girl” archetype..I don’t even think it’s the actress’s fault but her dialogue with Carmy is overly witty or like it’s trying too hard to be charming lol which makes her feel unreal…also she’s waaaaay too pressed to be with Carmy given the circumstances. He gave her the wrong number for example and she then went through other ppl to get his number..she just seemed like she was chasing this man for no real reason other than writers needing it to be that way, which made everything also feel weird bc why is this “perfect” woman chasing after Carmy, who is a fantastic character, but has shown no indication he’d be a good boyfriend? It was reminding me of Zazie Beetz’s character from Joker where Arthur thought this woman was in love with him, only to realize it was a hallucination..except Claire actually WAS real, which made it weirder lol
yeah and the way they shut there speaking/together scenes with the camera facing the talking person was also very unreal like
This
@@MelodyJoleneand the way they kept zooming in on her face too
Yupp and the fact that she said 'I love you' in that voicemail when at most they'd been going out for a few weeks?? idk she just didnt feel real at all. wouldve loved to have actually learnt more about her as a person
exactly. we never really got to see her life outside of carmy. they kept shoehorning her into stuff & everyone saying she was amazing. her scenes were all shot weird. i think that was intentional bc he was romanticizing her. she's outside of the restaurant & she was a foil to sydney (bc carmy can't manage his priorities). everyone else was improving their skills but carmy. the only time she looked normal was when she heard carmy in the freezer. claire reminds him of his family (which stresses him out) while sydney is his future (the bear wouldn't exist without her, let's be honest.). whether or not they'll be romantic is another thing. but, she reminds him of the "aspiration" of what the bear could be. she's the only one at the bear that didn't know mikey & had fine dining training.
i just feel like an idiot bc I didn’t realize that michael was not sober during the christmas episode 😭
Same 😂
Me neither lol
y’all a mess lmaooo! that man was punching himself in the head, making donkey noises, and had a blanket wrapped around his head like a wise man at different points in that episode and y’all couldn’t tell?? that on top of some subtle richie glances told me all i needed to know :/
@@chance757 I just thought they were being artistic 😂
“sugar has suffered more than the marine corps” SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK 😭🗣️
I needed to add TINA! I was so happy for her. She makes me want to cry every time she presents a dish and then says something negative like its bad, isn't it? And it never is. That bar scene was so beautiful. I felt her social fear the whole time and then after she sang how it released all the tension. I am so happy for her.
carmy was the one from the jump that felt like he had to save the restaurant for his brother, and that weighs on him heavy. but he gets distracted by the potential of experiencing love and tbh his youth for the first time. and quickly he realized he was the one slacking and it caused him to lash out like never before; he was not coping with the terror of if he ruined opening night, not even enough to realize that even a bad night can be handled
everyone was doing tooo much on sydney. also the pure chaos of this show makes me love it. writers have to be paid fr
i knew i wasn’t rocking wit claire and carmy after fake number gate. like she rlly got his number from someone else and still called him after that??? the whole phone conversation triggered my fight or flight😭if he don’t wanna talk to you, he don’t wanna talk to you. let that man go!
That!
Could’ve gave us more Luca..but we move
We move
Luca is coming back in S3
Tina and Ebra should have had an episode this season. I wanted to see their experience in culinary school before Ebra dropped out. Also I cant be the only one delusional enough in thinking that Marcus and Luca might become something? Like I wasn’t totally making up that tension and chemistry, right? Hoping for a little queerness next season
people on tiktok want luca and marcus baddd 😗 but yeah they better let us find out somebody’s gay next season
I saw something but I kept telling myself it was in my head. I’m still not sure whether or not it was
Luca and Marcus had a lot of chemistry + the fact that Luca was really willing to teach Marcus without pressuring him and stressing him..
And they were joking sometimes ?!? Ooooooh
I love Tina so much and I took her in the moment she started calling syd chef, like I was waiting on that redemption arc. The things she does to my heart when she smiles, oh man 😭. I want the world for her. And regarding carmy and syd, I was skeptical ab whether they were being hinted at romantically, esp given the cast’s take, but that scene where it’s the image of syd that finally calms him down? Yeah that confirmed it
I grew up in a very toxic household so the scenes where they’re all screaming get me so triggered that I had to take a long time to properly get into the show since it was too much to handle. That’s why I like s2 a lot more. But anyway, carmy and Richie in particular, getting in syd’s face and screaming at her to shut there fuck up give me particularly vivid ptsd. She is better than me bc I would not have been able to think straight after being spoken to like that. It made it much harder for me to sympathise with carmy and Richie. Regardless of how much stress ur under or how u grew up, u have no right to make ppl feel the way I know they feel when they get sworn at and shouted at like that, bc it’s happened to me too much
PS. I’m blown away though, at how accurately they were able to portray family trauma. 10/10 television
We know at least Carmy felt horrible about it in season 1. It even got into his nightmares, it pushed him to talk in therapy and when he saw Tina in a blue apron, he said she was dressed like Syd. In season 2 Carmy even says he couldn’t and wouldn’t open the restaurant without Sydney. The dessert named after Syd they add in Carmy’s outburst.
The men yelling at her…she is so competent, she upsets the male hierarchy. There are studies on this in gaming. It explains why harassment towards women is so volatile in gaming.
Sydney is also young, pretty, single and career driven. Might be subconsciously upsetting to some of the guys.
I do notice that as the chemistry between Carmy and Syd develops, everyone picks up on it and feels better.
The pause on Claire’s name😭😭
The way I interpreted Ebra was that he probably felt he wasn’t good enough and felt intimidated. He said he was willing to go when they told him and Tina but I think it changed once he showed up and saw how intense the school would be. Him not wanting to wear a uniform definitely felt like he was saying he didn’t want to change too much either. Definitely set in his ways like you said, but not in an outdated way but more like he likes his comfort zone and the school would’ve been pushing him too far away from it.
and I really don’t ship anyone in this show at all 😂 Like keep it all actually
Plus his arthritis was flaring up, he probably felt like he couldn’t keep up. And the uniform thing, it’s heavily implied in season one he was in the army back in his home country; he’s against a top to bottom uniform, he mentions he’s seen what hierarchies do and something about a change in leadership. He’s a war veteran with arthritis in the culinary field. Even if he wanted to learn as bad as Tina, he probably couldn’t.
Bring in Luca for Sidney lol also we’re the same like I get the shipping if Carmy and Sidney but he’s such a mess I can’t imagine Syd being given the due I feel she deserves where he’s at right now and yes she does need to have her own experience
when you said syd and richie my eyes almost popped outta my head
girl yes! they stay quiet for the most part but make no mistake, them funky syd/richie shippers are out there 🗿
@@chance757it's me 🙋🏾♀️

I really liked Luca. I did not think I would want Will Poulter like this, but 👀
I've worked at a resturant and can say that the chaos is pretty accurate.
I love Molly Gordon, but Claire was such a waste of a character for her. Her and Carmy's scenes felt so useless, I admittedly fast forwarded through their scenes.
Episode 6 was a life-changing episode. I was so uncomfortable during that dinner scene.
I loved Ebra and Tina's scene. I did not expect them to feel fear and anxiety about new changes. It was nice that the younger chefs invited Tina for drinks after work. Wished we ended on a cliffhanger with whether Ebra is returning or not. Next season I want to see more Ebra, Tina, and a new chef.
What Nick say? "Step your cookies up ʼfore they crumble" and Richie did just that 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
💯 don’t be actin like the Cardinals and gon’ fumbleeee
i need carmy healing and a pining mess before syd and carmy happen - she can fall first but he needs to be falling the HARDEST, from space. I need him deeply pining over her (as she deserves) before there is even an attempt at a relationship. If we are going to do romance i need a 5 season slow burn before even a peck on the cheek.
amazing per USUAL OFC! but yeah i ship carmy with intense therapy first, and sydcarmy immediately after. SYDRICHIE STANS ARE INSANE???? claire was intentionally very manic pixie dream girl esque, and I think that's why so many scenes with her are shot up close in such bright lighting. i'm sorry... carmy realistically cannot handle a relationship with her. one, she serves as a constant reminder of his very sordid past that he's trying to overcome, and two... i just can't idk. anyway, richie's episode and the finale were my absolute favsssss and im so excited for s3, whenever those writers get that check. also, i too am on board with bringing someone new in for syd!!!!! jealous hater marcus and jealous repressed carmy would EAT! anyway, loved this video. yellowjackets and selling sunset WHEN?
Is it just me or did that romance arc come out of nowhere? I think if she was mentioned or shown last season, I would have understood her appearance this season.
The episode fishes is genuinely one of the best episodes of television PERIOD
this is relatively minor but i found the denmark episode so refreshing - to see a black man peacefully exploring a place he’s never been and his interests was really moving to me🥲
Great observation I want the same for Ebra next season too
I cried during that dinner scene in episode six 😂😂😂 my anxiety couldn’t take it imagine growing up in such a household. I am glad though that we get to see the roles the siblings played in their family system.
how did you know this was the exact video i needed right now
Exactly!!!
I think what I both love about the writing and hate about the characters is that no one knows how to TALK. No one has any idea how to Have A Grown Up Conversation, and that’s why we keep getting into messes and misunderstandings. Except maybe like, Nat and Pete (sweet boy), everyone else holds grudges, acts passive aggressively, lies or keeps secrets, anything but have a Conversation! It is so frustrating to watch and it makes me so mad but in a good way. The writers are masters of writing MESS, with interpersonal relationships, dialogue where everyone just talks but don’t listen, physical surroundings to reflect internal conflicts, they’re just so good at writing chaos. And kudos to the actors for bringing all of it to life!
On the topic of what AI could never write, along with the scene of the meth smoking chef in the middle of service, AI could never write Richie getting stabbed in the butt and then walking it off into the front of the house and pulling his pants down to let Ebra clean it up like WHAT??? These writers are geniuses.
When Olivia Coleman showed up as Terry ooof Richie finally DOVE in to a full character arc 🥺
i straight up just skipped some of clarie's scenes and honestly i felt like i wasnt missing anything
I just cried the entire second half of the season. Halfway through the Christmas episode, it was just me crying on and off until it was over, and then just cried because it was over. It’s so GOOD.
I had to skip Claire and Carmy’s scenes every time they happened- I was just so bewildered because they gave me absolutely NOTHING EVERY TIME. And why was she always whispering?! Speak UP ⬆️ 🧍🏾♀️
She works in a whole hospital too 😂
Not speak up 😩😭
It's the way she looks at him when she talks. Idk if I just don't like the actors face but every time she's on screen, in my mind, she seems like she's scheming something. Like she has some type of motive.
not saying I don't like her, it's just that she just came out of the blue and added nothing.
@@keychains5806right she was bland and creepy
THIS!! I skipped them too and I was like holy shit I missed nothing?!! There was nothing important about that I still got the gist
for the “every second counts” board or whatever it had me thinking it could be seen two ways. like one in the literal sense of every minute counts and to make the most of your time but also since both richie and that other chef were talking abt how their fathers were in the military it had me thinking it could also mean like every second counts as in every person in the kitchen matters
Went and watched TWO seasons of a show i never heard of so i could come back and watch this video
And what did u think of it🤩 did u enjoy the show
Claire is litteraly the brunette girlfriend in every movie about boxing, her presence reminded me this is a show on FX.
Is no one gonna talk about the random man Marcus found on the side of the road 🤭
THANK YOU!! Because I watched that entire season before bed and almost forgot but then I was like??? Hold up??? Plot hole?? Wtf was that about ? That was never explained lmao
I think they maybe wanted to show his character was very caring? Or he missed taking care of his mom or something? Or they’re setting smth up for s3 (last one is doubtful tho)
I feel like it represents something like that old man just got back up and went maybe it’s supposed to be like helping people who fallen to get back up idk but the vibe of it felt very like not human in a way like in Atlanta when he’s on the bus and the guy is giving him a sandwich or something and then he just leaves like it doesn’t feel natural or human in a way so I feel like it supposed to symbolise something but idk
I interpreted the mom flipping out on being asked if she was okay as her being annoyed that someone would even ask that question because she's clearly not okay. It just feels like people aren't seeing you when you're having a meltdown and someone asks if you're okay. The mom really shouldn't have flipped out on Natalie tho since Natalie wasn't trying to piss her off and was the only one trying to give her the care that she was asking for. I'm glad they showed us the family dynamic because it wouldn't have hit as hard if they had just had the characters talk about their past.
I noticed how everyone was going off on Sydney too!! I’m like omg 😳 as a working young woman like her I definitely felt her pain. She just takes it like a champ. What you have to do when people are yelling at you unless you wanna escalate the situation and have it turn into something worse. She deserves better then Carmy at this point imo. I agree a new character to make everyone jealous. Maybe a chef up to Sydney’s level in Business and cooking. I would love to see a power couple on this show
An hour long video on the bear???
Praise be to GOD
I’m fine with no romance in the show because I’m way more invested in the found family dynamic, but the way they set up season two… like if they’re not endgame/if they scrap it bc people are racist, it’s gonna feel like Don and Judy (Lost In Space) all over again.
No bc for someone to give you a fake number and YOU BRING YOURSELF TO FIND THEIR NUMBER AND CALL THEM ANYWAYS that was doomed from the start bc that’s crazy😭
The whole time during that dinner lee was pissing me off SO MUCH, I wanted him to get a fork thrown at him so bad I was begging him to say one more thing
I stoped the Christmas episode half way through and needed a week to recover and start again, it was so over stimulating for me my brain couldn’t handle it idky😭
Didn’t ebra fight in a war? Is that why he doesn’t want to put a uniform on?
That's the vibe I got too! Like he didn't want to be in a uniform and train because of bad memories, but I didnt want to watch the 1st again to confirm if he was in a war or not.
@@KassandraQuiseng I believe it was an insurgency? I need to rewatch to be sure though.
Tina can SING!
Watching Lionel go from Loiter Squad to this is crazy. And the fact that Ramy directed his episode made it my favorite of the season. I can’t wait for S3.
I would have ate up the carmy/claire thing in 2009 but I'm grown now and not really that much into the smiths
Lets never forget the OG manic pixie dream girl herself “I love the smiths”

This is show is my everything, it’s genuinely one of the best shows I have ever watched
This video came at the right timw cause this show is EXCELLENT!! Its one of my favorite shows also Sydney Supremacy!!!
the thing about claire is that i feel the writers very earnestly wanted ppl 2 dislike her lmaooo. bc she was just set up tbh, like first of all carmy didn't want 2 give her his number. SECOND of all she went and GOT CARMY'S NUMBER from fak of all people like that's just a normal thing to do. THIRD of all carmy does not remember a single fucking thing they did together or anything about their childhood together. and FOURTH she's written entirely like a manic pixie dream girl like it's so embarassing atp. i'm a sydcarmy girl but i spent the whole szn tryna like her... she's just so,,,, hollow.
Lol seee this is very spot on. I felt like they were going for like..a very 2010s Emma Stone/Mila Kunis “beautiful yet humble, witty yet un-intimidating” dream girl girlfriend thing..which I feel only really works of the actress/characters just have off the charts chemistry..but here it felt like a stereotype with no substance so her constant witty retorts and perfect reactions to Carmy’s off behavior felt unrealistic at best. Like the fact that she pursued him, found his lack of interest charming, etc was off lol and I’m still not sure if it was 100% intentional because if the audience actually liked Claire and bought the relationship, that would’ve made us actually care about the breakup and feel bad for both parties..instead it was just super awkward but ultimately I think we’re all hoping it’s over lol also it would’ve gave Carmy some dynamicism if he’s the one who thought he was healthy enough to pursue Claire, won her over, and then sabotaged it rather than having her pursue him..bc it just makes us feel like she kinda brought this heart ache on herself bc the signs were clear from the beginning Carmy was not the most stable and it makes us not really blame him for not being a good boyfriend. Like the way they executed the “romance”, Carmy was a very passive participant in everything so I feel like we didn’t really see a lot unexpected or interesting from him in that situation bc going into it we knew he was mentally/emotionally unstable, distant, and uninvested and he pretty much stayed that way all throughout their relationship so…Ehh lol
@@CoilyTwizzler that's exactly what i'm saying like i see a lot of ppl saying that 'oh she was supposed 2b boring 2 show how carmy isn't ready 2 welcome good things into his life' but like,,, she can be a good person and not boring? just like every other character on this show. and the fact that carmy really didn't gaf abt her just made me laugh like why are we doing this n wasting our time
it almost felt like I was in another show or something. That episode where she persuades him to go to the party, and she just kept looking at him and giving flirty weird eyes to him?!?!
It didn't feel natural, it was like she came into his life to get him (even doe that might been the point since she said she liked him for a long time or wtv) like this man gave you a fake number and nothing clicked to think "oh well he's got shit to do, I'll take it slow and build a relationship"
@@keychains5806 it was so wild bc it was presented 2 us as like,, them bonding and making up for lost time... but the whole time he was pretending 2b some other guy and comforting her drunk bsf like he wasn't even really enjoying himself lmao
Literally same!
yep. that Tina hug was SOOOO beautiful.
I would like to thank Amanda and the Lord for this glorious moment 😇☺️ THANK YOU 🎉
wait that was pepto bismol?! sorry cos i dont really have that where i live but now i finally know, i kept thinking why is everyone drinking that yogurt drink
1. Will fine ass
2. Don’t care for Claire
3. Christmas dinner was fun. Love steven
4. When Marcus is mad he’s scary.
5. E was scared of not being able to keep up. He prob learn to cook by family rather than Culinary school
6. I didn’t have any feelings for Claire so the focus on them felt unnecessary
I think logically speaking Sydney works well with Marcus, however relationships aren’t about logic they’re about how you feel and they just have no chemistry. They seem like friends and that’s it. I think she deserves someone sweet for sure but he just isn’t it. Love him sm tho
The thing about sydcarmy shippers is that, above all else, we want to be acknowledged, and acknowledged as correct. I dont know if any of us actually want the 2 together, at least as they currently are
OK, I just have to say how much I enjoyed your breakdown of the show. Also, I find it so cathartic to watch you methodically put on your beautiful make up. I agree with every single thing you said about the relationships. And yes, yes yes to therapy. Also, pay the damn riders, because there is no way a damn boss could come up with that meth scene😂😂😂 or the nuance of the Christmas episode. And about that Christmas episode. The actors did not come to play that day. Jamie Lee Curtis “chefs kiss” and Bob Odenkirk, a.k.a. Saul Goodman, as Lee the antagonist were perfect.
I think Claire is a manic pixie dream girl, but at the same time I think that was the point. Carmy didn't actually opened himself emotionally for her, so she comes off as this idealized safe place for him. She was never a fully fledged character because he didn't let her BECOME one due to how heavily guarded he is inside. Like yeah not shit she comes off an an archetype, she IS ONE. She's the ideal representation of what Carmy sees as peace, peace he'd never get because he thinks of himself as a psycho.
amanda and the bear YUPPPP
Exactly
Instead of having claire we could of got a tina episode what about her kid .. like clarie was so underwhelming
yesss in the first couple episodes where they are looking for new employees I wholeheartedly believed that when she was asking Tina to be like her assistant in the kitchen or wtv I thought syd was actually gonna ask tina to get her son to try and do sumn.
like atleast dishwashing and then they'd find some potential in the kid idk. 💀
@@keychains5806 yes i agree
If Pete doesn't tell Sugar ill understand
but the fact that he slipped that she’s pregnant 😬 i feel like sugar should know that she knows
Same. I want him to but I get it
@@magpielviratrueee
@@magpielviraomg I hope they show this in s3 cause he I do agree he has to tell sugar her my knows but then he might have to bring up the whole story on how he told her AHHH 😭
i might be evil but i was happy when claire and carmy broke up 🤒
Me too…I smirked little bit 🫣
I knew it was going to happen because look at all the signs. Fake number, not picking up some of her calls, her being a bit clingy on him, her being one dimensional. I just wasn’t feeling it.
Same. I felt kind of bad for her but then when she cried to richie and he got really mad at Carmen I was like 😟 now wtf is this?? Calm tf down. Felt kinda manipulative but idk. Like I found it weird how OBSESSED with her carmys family was, like to the point of completely dismissing it when he ditches work to run off with her. And I think it’s strange how Sydney is the only one who was kinda like “do your job bro,” and they made it out like it was (only) because she was just jealous of Claire [since she likes Carmy]
You’re not alone. I hate fast forwarding through shows but had to do it with her scenes. The close ups and the cheesy dialogue 🤮. If the writers intended that reaction, they succeeded
The thing is Carmy & Sydney set Richie, Marcus and Tina up for success. Carmy enabled them to do so well, but he then sabotaged himself.
They know him so well, they knew to not get thrown by his rage out.
It will be interesting to see how Carmy views their competence without him. Richie was totally right to call Carmy Donna.
i agree that claire and carmy seemed just inserted into the plot, but i think it could’ve had so much potential if they had actually properly introduced her as a character that was a part of carmy’s adolescence and maybe even delved deeper into who he was during that time and how it shaped who he is today (because i feel even the christmas episode gave insight to him at those ages, esp when mickey and richie were teasing him about claire and when carmy brings up the restaurant to mikey) i would’ve loved to see something like that…not necessarily in a flashback though, something more fleshed out
I agree. I think part of the reason they didn’t do that though is because they wanted it to seem detached. They wanted you to feel like Claire was a bit of a random addition to the plot because, in carmys life, she kind of was. The only real reason he ended up dating her was because Mike thought she was good for him. And just like how Mike left him the restaurant and he felt an obligation to run it instead of sell, he also felt the obligation to date Claire. Because it’s what Mike wanted.
@@panny7227 i think it’s so cool that this is ur interpretation of this!!!!!! like i don’t even think my thought process would’ve expanded in this direction so i feel like ur expanding my initial thought. going along with what ur saying, i really do see how u view claire in this season’s plot and how carmy pursues her bc it’s what “mike wanted”. carmy literally *worships* mikey
Hold my wig. Amanda posted!!!
The queen hath come forth and graced us undeserving peasants with her gracious presence again 🙏🤲❤😭
