Dude thank you sooo much, Xbox technical support told me I had to buy another Xbox and now I don't, thank you soooo much bro, now someone has a subscriber
Hey guys, I'm thinking about making a "Frequently Ask Questions / Common Problems" follow-up video to answer several of the questions and comments I've received from you all. I didn't realize that this video would receive such attention, but here we are 130,000 views later! If this is something you would like, please comment and let me know if it would be worth my time. I'm also thinking about making an updated version of this video featuring the new Xbox dashboard (though the process is still the same), and this time I can demonstrate the Port Forwarding process on a Netgear router. Let me know if that is also something you would be interested in.
SHADOWSTRIKE1 after I restarted my Xbox at the end, I tried connecting to my Xbox and it said DNS isn't resolving Xbox server names. I unplugged my router and it still said the same thing
Football and Fifa make sure you entered them correctly, the same as what shows up in Command Prompt on your computer. If that doesn't work, just try to use Google's public DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
SHADOWSTRIKE1 Hey, I'm confused. I'm trying to Open my IP for a certain game. I was told to forward ports 3076 and 3074 and make sure it's assigned to XBOX OS. But my router keeps asking me for "target port." It asks for start and end port like all of the people in these guides have but then there's this additional one that seems to be required. What might this be and what should I do? Also, what is the relationship between my NAT in a particular game and the NAT for my xbox? My Xbox One says Strict but the game says moderate? If I can get my game to say it's open does it matter what my Xbox says? And most of all, where can I go to gain a deeper understanding of all of this so that I don't get confused by all of these steps that I don't fully understand?
Update to anyone trying to do this method November of 2018: I just did it and it actually worked! I had bullshit moderate NAT type for over 2 years after I moved, and now I finally have an open NAT type and won't have to experience the cancer that comes from it. Thanks so much man for making this video!
I cannot thank you enough for uploading this video and being clear in your process. I've been dealing with a moderate nat type for two days and had an xfinity technician come to my house to try and fix the problem. It went no where. I followed the steps in your video and had the open nat type after the hard reset and wall unplug. Thank you for doing in 18 minutes what xfinity could not do in a 2 hour phone call and a technician house visit. PS- When you mentioned the secondary DNS address listing from your cmd/command prompt, it listed 75.75.76.76 and you accidentally said 75.75.75.76. i used the 75.75.76.76 and it was fine, i noticed because my settings were the same. just a heads up.
I have spent literally 5 hours on trying to forward ports for my daughter's Xbox One through our Rogers Router, searching, trying methods and failing, with one video that was generated by you, I managed to do it in a half hour and am now the internet Goddess in my daughter's eyes, lol.....thank you so much for making this video and explaining it in such details and timing that allowed me to make my girl a very happy camper.....Cheers!
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I contacted Xbox support but they gave me these ports and said I could either get me ISP to do it or I could do it. BUT IT WORKED!!!! And if anyone out there has a Dlink router like me, don't go to the port forwarding setting, go to the virtual server setting above it. Hope this helps someone
I know this video was made in 2015 but my husband was still having this issue to this day and by sheer chance on Reddit I found the link to this video and oh my god I'm so happy that I found this video. It was so easy to follow along with you and find everything I needed. I was so excited for my husband because he's not that tech savvy and was getting super frustrated with it. I had this same issue happen with my Blu-ray player and had to change the IP address as well so I was comfortable giving this a try. If I could give you a gold star for literally the best video explanation ever I would. Thank you so much!
I'm glad it worked out for you! I've contemplated making an "updated" version of the video a few times, but the truth of the matter is that the actual process is still the same to this day, so nothing would really change in an updated video. The only thing else I would perhaps go into is MAC reservations, but that's a bit more in-depth than people need. But overall I'm glad things are working for you guys!
Today is 10-30-19 and I watched this video. It worked for me. The way that you took this step by step and broke everything down and made it simple made me feel like I was an expert fixing this by myself. Thank you SO MUCH I can finally play Modern Warfare and not get kicked every 20 minutes and can actually talk in a party with my friends, super helpful video!!
U save my life I had the ( nat unavailable) problem and when i was doing multiplayer test it was saying ( can't get a teredo ip address) So i did exactly what u said in video and it fix it instantly. Thank you very very much , and for everyone who want try this , just do what ever he says and it should work and when u adding new ipes in ur router just do ( 1st port ,2nd port , ip address, protocol) if u have other options in (new) menu just leavm
Dude, you are awesome. Been having trouble connecting to people online and both Xbox and my ISP couldn't help fix my NAT. Hour and a half of support call = No Result vs 18 minute RUclips Guide = Open NAT
Worked for me. Took me under an hour to do it, my NAT type is now open. I tried the power cycle like you explained but that didn't work so I just did a reset in the power settings and it reset the NAT type just fine. Thank you so much for the video
@@ediaz5580 it should work fine on a MAC. You'd just have to use different commands. So instead you'd open up Terminal and then type "ifconfig" and press enter. It'll output similar results.
Thank you so much!! I have been dealing with Moderate/Strict NAT type for over a year. i have watched many videos and tutorials but nothing ever worked. I finally have an Open NAT type! Thanks alot!
+Kristopher Howard Are you using someone else's WiFi or are you connecting to the WiFi hotspot offered by your Comcast router? You should connect to your router's personal network (Usually starts with "Home") instead of using the free WiFi hotspot offered by Comcast routers.
It worked for me. Thanks a bunch! For everyone who's NAT changed from Moderate to Strict or just got worse in general, you may have done something wrong.
Wow! I thought for sure this wouldn’t work for me, but it did! When I was doing the port forward the IP couldn’t be the same as the local IP. I refreshed the page and it worked. Thanks for the video
SHADOWSTRIKE1 my primary DNS was my IP address, should I just put that in? Also, my ports are called inbound and private ports, and those ports have a box followed by a dash mark and another box. Is there something special I have to do for this? I have a belkin router.
Thank you so much, I've been searching for months on how to fix my nat and you were the only one that was able to fix it! Thank you thank you thank you!
I need help. So this video helped me open my NAT on my xbox one. But on Call Of Duty:Black Ops 3 my NAT is moderate. It says I need to put in port UDP 3075 into my router. But for some reason I can't put port 3075 into my router! A note pops up saying "Conflict with other HS port forwarding service. Please check port and IP!", I can put in any port besides 3075. Please help!
+GodsLegends Black Ops 3 tends to be a bit incorrect in it's NAT rating. Listen to what your Xbox says. However, if you want to add in that other port, just make another service and have it start and end at 3075, and set it as the type that is recommended. If you do not know, then set TCP/UDP. If it says you cannot port forward it, try power cycling your router & modem by unplugging them for about a minute and plugging them back in. Also during this time, make sure no devices in your home are powered on so that they do not grab the port that you need to forward to your Xbox before you make the rule in the port forward settings. Basically the only thing you'll want on is your modem, router, and computer.
+SHADOWSTRIKE1 I thought it was incorrect at first too. My friend and I both have open NAT's on xbox one, but we both have moderate on Black Ops 3. We can connect to the party chat and play other games but we can't connect to each other in Black Ops 3. I'm going to try to power cycle my router and hopefully it will let me put in the port.
+Anartik It was noted from support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/networking/network-ports-used-xbox-live The note says: "Some game developers require you to open additional ports. To see if the game you're playing, such as Call of Duty, Destiny, or other titles, needs additional ports, check the Additional Network Ports for Multiplayer Gaming forum."
domonique saul Yeah I saw that after I made the video... didn't feel like reshooting the whole video for that. The DNS server isn't super important as long as you get one of them right. Since I got one incorrect, it defaulted to the other. I fixed it later.
SHADOWSTRIKE1 question... I have a seperate router off my Comcast modem and my dns is showing as the same as my up? also it's not giving me a second dns like yours did. do I need to do all these changes being plugged in directly to the modem or can I do it hooked up to my net gear router?
Thank you so much for this video! I've been having this problem with my xbox one from day one, being stuck on strict nat type. I'm not very savvy with computers and ever other videos on RUclips don't really explain much on what exactly your doing to your router other then if you do it wrong you could brake it or leave your router vulnerable to hackers. I can't really say what your DNS servers are. Yours could be different from mine. Mine were 75.75.75.75 and 75.75.76.76 but yours could be different. You could also use Google's DNS servers of 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
Excellent Tutorial. I opened another tab for my router and just jumped between your video and the router. The connection is working perfectly. Many Thanks. (You did miss the Secondary DNS as 75 instead of 76 in the 3rd set of numbers but, I ignored it and entered 75 as I think you meant for us to do...) Great job!
+KinghtofZero00 moderate is better than open. Open nat types can connect to anyone but moderate stops people on strict from joining. Stops laggy people basically
***** But it also takes a longer time to find people to play with and I rarely experience lag to begin with. Its even worse when your playing a game thats always online and not being able to interact
+KinghtofZero00 id rather wait to get a good lobby than connect to someone that eats bullets, wouldnt you? But i understand not being able to connect to mates!
WTF !!!??????? BRO, DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG I'VE BEEN TRYING TO DO IT, AND I COULD NEVER FIND A GOOD TUTORIAL ONLINE, AND IN 15 MINUTES YOU JUST SOLVED IT .. LIKED AND SUBSCRIBE .. GOOD FUCKING WORK MAN ..
Hey just solved my strict NAT problem by turning off "fastrack QOS" on my router (a western digital mynet n900). I've been on this most of the weekend and watched loads of youtube and read hundreds of forums suggesting port forwarding . All I had to do was as I mention above - turning off "fastrack QOS" on my router
thank you, i had already set up my static IP address but i didn't know how to set the ports, it was so confusing, followed your steps and it worked no problem. Thanks man!!
thanks a lot. I did port forwarding first, but my Nat type was still strict. but with Manuel settings, I'm wired in at open. no more lag on BF1. just got my cat 6 ethernet cable today. loving the gaming. thanks again for your help 😊
Hey thanks so much man, I was given all those ports to open by xbox support but had no clue how to and you listed an extra being the last one, seriously thank you!!!
Though I had to look at another tutorial to help myself out with the different interface that my router has, thank you! I've been constantly getting disconnected from lobbies because of my Moderate NAT Type and now it's Open!
Yay you fixed mine too, thanks man! Awesome vid. My ports were already forwarded (same) but I was getting STRICT type and issues. Finally found help with your vid. What I needed to do was change the types in my router settings ex. UDP to match yours. All of mine were previously TCP&UDP fwiw. Glad I didn’t have to wipe the port forwarding.
I really really really appreciate it man. I have ShitT&T Uverse and they don't offer UPnP services so the only other option was port forwarding. I didn't know the settings and the way to port forward is a lot different than what you got in your video, but I figured it out. I greatly appreciate it. God bless your soul!
If by half the job you mean you didnt put in every port could you tell me what ones you didnt put in? It's because my router login doesnt give the option for TCP/UDP.
@@shon6937 By half the job i mean i opened cmd on the pc and then i typed ipconfig/all, than i watched my network stats and typed them into the xbox one where it was required [for DNS servers i chose the secondary that is 8 8 8 8 (it is the google dns server, one of the best) just in case the first goes down] . Mine also doesn't have the combined option, i had to do it manually. I simply went into port forwarding and then i opened this ones: UDP: 88 TCP: 3074 UDP: 3074 TCP: 80 UDP: 500 UDP: 3544 UDP: 4500 As you see i simply made two things separately instead of selecting UDP/TCP. In this way my nat went opened and playing battlefield 4 is waaaay better.
thank you so much! this video helped me and i got it done quickly and easily. before i found this video i had been trying to change my NAT for about four hours (sad i know) but that just shows that this video is excellent and extremely helpful even to people not familiar with port forwarding. thanks again for the video (and for helping me enjoy my gaming experience even more!) and ill be checking out other stuff on your channel. :)
Great job bro out of all the videos in RUclips this video is the most detailed video I found I thank you for your time and for your explanation of the whole thing.thanks again
Thanks! I'm glad it worked out for you :D I know there are a bunch of videos showing how to open your NAT and port forward, but from what I saw, most of them just tell you WHAT to do without explaining WHY you are doing it, or what it is you're even doing. I know that makes my video a bit longer, but hopefully that also means people that followed my guide learned something in the process rather than just blindly following instructions.
FWIW, as of Nov 2019, this works. I have AT&T and couldn't forward all those ports, as the modem they gave me won't allow UPnP or to forward port 53 or 80, as its already using them. However, I did Port 88, and both Port 3074 and then I added 3075 to that, because Call of Duty uses 3075. So now, OPEN NAT on Xbox and with the Activision servers.
To anyone whom it may concern, my advice is just plug your console directly to your router, if your router is far away from your console you can use a powerline adapter to get a closer connection to your console without the need of wiring your home. They will most definitely work, unlike all of these click hungry videos, which in fact don't work and are a waste of your time, your better off using that time to save money in anyway you can to save up for a powerline adapter. (Which some of the best ones out there are hella expensive. 💵)
Now my Nat type is stuck on strict. Is there a way I can fix this? Yesterday it was open and I turned my xbox on and the strict won't go away do I just repeat this process?
+Brandon Lawrence go to your router settings and go to port forwarding like in the video then just hit disable. If you have Comcast it should look like 10:46

Thanks for posting this amigo. It really helped. I was getting constant disconnections playing Destiny & now it's all cleared up.
It worked perfectly alas I can now get back to Destiny
Have you been playing Destiny for the past 3 years?
WTF !!!??????? BRO, DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG I'VE BEEN TRYING TO DO IT, AND I COULD NEVER FIND A GOOD TUTORIAL ONLINE, AND IN 15 MINUTES YOU JUST SOLVED IT .. LIKED AND SUBSCRIBE .. GOOD FUCKING WORK MAN ..
If This Didn't Work Do I Sell My Xbox?
+Oh Zeeqo Yep
Yes
After doing this, you must do a power cycle reset on your Xbox, it should work!
No, exchange it for a PS4
MaximillianMus dude I know you from a video from a long time ago and finally we meet again
just did this and worked perfectly and it march 29 2019 ty bro
I've set up the port forward perfectly, and my Xbox still stays moderate please help :(
Go to advanced settings, go to Alternate port selection and go to manual and select the one that gives you an open NAT
Hey just solved my strict NAT problem by turning off "fastrack QOS" on
my router (a western digital mynet n900). I've been on this most of the
weekend and watched loads of youtube and read hundreds of forums
suggesting port forwarding . All I had to do was as I mention above -
turning off "fastrack QOS" on my router
Went from strict to open Nat. So greatful!
I can't believe this worked. Thank you so much for figuring this out. You're a godsent. May the fire guide thee, and praise the sun.
this actually worked after all the trouble I went through to get it done it actually worked. thanks bro. real shit!
Dude you are (in my case) the best “how to” you tuber in the world thank you soooo much
This is a fucking tutorial, I came from scratch to these settings. I'm a dentist not a cable man but this legend explains it easy as fuck
thank you, i had already set up my static IP address but i didn't know how to set the ports, it was so confusing, followed your steps and it worked no problem. Thanks man!!
Thanks a lot for the guide. My NAT on Xbox One is now open. I have a Comcast router with the same interface as in the video, making it quite easy.
thanks a lot. I did port forwarding first, but my Nat type was still strict. but with Manuel settings, I'm wired in at open. no more lag on BF1. just got my cat 6 ethernet cable today. loving the gaming. thanks again for your help 😊
Thank you so much man! I never leave comments on videos but I need to show some appreciation!
In less than 3 mins i gave this guy a like. Solid bro thanks a lot
I’ve been having problems with connecting to an ipv6 I’ve I’ve searched hours on the internet this helps so much
Yay you fixed mine too, thanks man!
Yay! Glad to hear you got it working! Yeah, even something as small as the wrong protocol can mess it up. Enjoy your open NAT!
I was skeptic at first while i was doing this, but wow the time to do this was worth it thank you so much!
I really really really appreciate it man. I have ShitT&T Uverse and they don't offer UPnP services so the only other option was port forwarding. I didn't know the settings and the way to port forward is a lot different than what you got in your video, but I figured it out. I greatly appreciate it. God bless your soul!
Well.... It's not working again... Fuck
Worked for me, i have Open NAT now but i didn't do all what's shown in this video. I did half the job and made it :D
I simply went into port forwarding and then i opened this ones: UDP: 88
TCP: 3074
UDP: 3074
TCP: 80
UDP: 500
UDP: 3544
UDP: 4500
As you see i simply made two things separately instead of selecting UDP/TCP. In this way my nat went opened and playing battlefield 4 is waaaay better.
Dude I spent sooooo much time trying to fix this frustrating error. Bro thank you
Thank you so much. Doing this took about 20 mins but it's worth it.
One of the best videos I have seen on this subject, great job!
I love u.....I went from moderate to open'!
just by listening to the whole video'!
You definitely have another subscriber, you explain & break everything down in a very understandable way.
thank you so much! this video helped me and i got it done quickly and easily. before i found this video i had been trying to change my NAT for about four hours (sad i know) but that just shows that this video is excellent and extremely helpful even to people not familiar with port forwarding. thanks again for the video (and for helping me enjoy my gaming experience even more!) and ill be checking out other stuff on your channel. :)
Worked beautifully thanks a lot!!!! Was having problems connecting with players in Dark souls 3 and this solved the issue.
I'm having this problem for dark souls 3 and it still didn't work...
Thanks man! This video was really helpful and helped me solve this annoying issue!
Could not get the right until I watched your video. Thanks.
thank u so much, I've called Microsoft to fix this problem and they couldn't do shit, and this video solved my problem in just few minutes
oh thank god this worked. I did have to add an 8th port for call of duty black ops 3. UDP/3075, but thanks to this video I learned how!
You're like a wizard. Thank you! My NAT type is finally "open"!!!!
Awesome! Glad it's working out for you now!
OMG ITS WORKED. Guys it really worked. Thank you
thanks dude my connection is so much better now
FWIW, as of Nov 2019, this works.
The best soft soft tutorial ever!
This is amazing - I didnt even have to reset my xbox. Ports just opened once I hit apply? Thanks soo much!!!
I appreciate the video, everything worked. in addition, for black ops 3 you need to add one more port, it's UDP and the port number is 3075.
You are heaven sent bro! Thank you! Been battling with this past couple of days didn't know what was going on
Now my Nat type is stuck on strict. Is there a way I can fix this? Yesterday it was open and I turned my xbox on and the strict won't go away do I just repeat this process?
+Brandon Lawrence I had to disable it and reset my router and now my xbox just stays on open but idk if that'll work for you but you can try it haha
+Brandon Lawrence go to your router settings and go to port forwarding like in the video then just hit disable. If you have Comcast it should look like 10:46
Thank you so much! Very clear and easy to follow. Good work!
Thank you so much for the help. NAT Type is now Open!!! :)
This worked for me!! Helped a lot that I had the same setup as you (xfinity gateway) awesome! Thank you so much, very helpful video man!
Thank you so much! This is the best tutorial I've seen!
Well my nat type says open so I hope this worked, I hope after a while it doesn't go back to moderate or strict but thanks man this really did help
thanks heaps finally had success getting my nat type open after watching this
Works i used this video a while ago im glad its still here lol
thanks man had some udp and tcp backwards now i'm good to go. very helpful, and detailed.
Problem Fixed! Thanks for the great detailed instructions and proper details. you're the man!!!
Thank you so much for this. Finally can play destiny 2 without lettuce/cabbage errors :)
