I'm getting this for Christmas, as a way of getting myself and my sisters back into Yu-Gi-Oh without having to try wrap our heads around how the game is currently with stuff like Xyz and Pendulums and whatever else XD Because we haven't played a proper game against each other since the GX era and we don't have any of our old cards anymore. This will be good fun over Christmas, I think!
I like it as a quick game to get your nostalgia yugioh fix. It's not consistent because it's mainly singleton but because it's speed duels consistency doesn't matter as much so I think you'll enjoy it. Hope you and your sister have lots of fun during the Xmas with it
@@TabletopTeam I'd say we will. And since we're adults now, hopefully that means less salt over who wins and loses... although I can't exactly go making promises there, hah! Besides, us? Caring about consistency? We played back in the day with bootleg cards, any change is welcome! I'll never forget that Attack and Receive card, with Big Shield Gardna's artwork, and 9000 attack points. ...Yeah.
I'm a grown man, old enough to have a house, car, busy job. Friends and I caught the show on TV on a nightshift, brought back memories. Quick google search later and we've ordered this. Night Shift battle city!
With Matthew Bell Leaving his position at Konami we have no clue if speed duels are continuing or if this product is one of the last products we are getting for speed duels since Matthew bell created and pushed speed duels since the beginning
A lot of the people opening Yu-Gi-Oh products are really loud and over the top and tbh it's not a fun experience but I end up watching them anyways cause I wanna know what's in the box. But this has actually been a pleasure to watch , thank you
I had no idea why i even watched this. Sat through it all. Glad i did. Subbed just for the professional presentation. You have the vibe of Carl Sagan playing yugioh
That's a good idea! I recommend sleeving the God cards and keeping em for yourself though. Only one of the decks use a God card and honestly its rather lackluster but cool if you pull it off
Were still missing alot of ocg Vanilla cards. Hope they keep them printing. I was always hunting them down when i bought speed duel decks or packs. They make nice targets for some archtypes :)
Unfortunately I think this is the end of Speed Dueling. Considering Rush Dueling was recently trade marked in the USA; There is a very good chance we’re gonna start getting Rush Duel Content by next year so continuing the whole Speed Duel thing would be bad for buisness. So this format doesn’t die, I move we greenlight the legalization of Skill Cards in Master Duels.
I hope Rush Duels comes over because I really enjoy the concept of it and the fact that it is reboot of Yugioh for 2020 while keeping the original. I like the experiment of Speed Duels in the physical format and am happy it's made it this far but it was never going to make it big by being a watered down version of an excellent game optimized for mobile. I imagine it gets a cult following because people like me quick games with my relatives who are new to card games but other than that it has little to offer outside of being a good entry game
You shouldn't see treat this box as part of the trading card game. See it as a standalone board game. You don't need additional support. You just play with these 8 decks according to the deck lists with your non-yu-gi-oh friends and for that it is pretty good and doesn't need further support.
Strange that they made the cards all a set 1 of and then a random assortment at the end. I don't tend to like those, much like the charmer structure deck.
I usually buy 3 structures to get a playset of everything and I agree with you that one copy of everything is weak deck building. That said speed duels is only 20 or 30 cards so its not as bad but still I would 3 of these to satisfy my needs lol
Nice opening. Those secret rare gods look nice. My only gripe (and a big one at that) is Konami using those ugly tablet arts for Blue-eyes and DM. I can't decide what is uglier, the LOB artwork or the tablet artwork. Why couldn't they use the original anime art :S
I probably would have, but there's 2 things holding me back. One, hardly anyone I know plays Speed Duels, and I can't get together to duel with them anyway. The second is the fact they didn't add Dark Magician Girl, and that's unforgivable. Okay, I'm being melodramatic. But still, they literally included just about every other card featured in Battle City but for some reason left her out? Why? That's so dumb.
My assumption is that putting in DMG would mean they need to make a secret rare version which would make it worth too much. I really wish she was in here too man. Its literally her debut arc and she's not exactly a side character in his deck ;(
@@TabletopTeam I guess, but it's still dumb. A lot of people would have bought it just for her. Well, I don't think it matters but they've lost my sale.

Thanks for the video! I just got into the speed duel format as a way to enjoy yu gi oh in the house. Had bought some random tcg products and realized it was darn near impossible to get some decks going for non competitive fun. Great review, sitting on all our new speed duel toys sealed including this one and wanted to know what was in store :) Do you know if any new speed duel booster sets will be released soon? Is the direction going toward battle city? Am deciding if it would be worth grabbing a trials of the kingdom box now if I can find one in a local shop or if i should wait to see if new boxes come out for speed
What do you think about buying a box of SDBC + 3 display boxes of Maximum Gold and making a deck from all of that? Is Yugioh that easy to pickup and go? I'm honestly getting into the concept of casual play + collecting. Thanks in advance for any response.
It really depends on the format you want to play. Speed Duel cards are legal to use in standard but these cards are 10 years behind in terms of power which is why you don't see them used much. If you only want a casual experience then two boxes of speed duel would do because you can have more consistent decks in a format that is easy to learn and play. Maximum Gold is more for those who want cards that are really strong and still used in tournaments plus it has nostalgia with some of the gold reprints. While you can mix and match I don't think it's a good use of financial resources because resulting decks would be widely inconsistent in terms of power in the standard Master Rules 5 format and while you can use your maximum gold cards for speed duels, as no one is stopping you, there is a reason why you don't see people doing so - it's simply not balanced for the format nor fun (imo). My suggestion is to play on Dueling Nexus lots of different archetypes as it is free and once you find one that you like you can either buy the singles or get boxes where they originate from if you want to crack packs
Can you actually make 8 separate decks with these cards? Or is it like.... Well I have 3 decks at the moment but If I want to build the 4.th one i have to take a few cards from deck 1. And 2.
The decklists they provide can all exist independently of each other yes. However, the power level on some of them might not match but nothing is overly strong that results in an instant win
Definitely just one if you plan on using it. The decklists can be upgraded to be more efficient of you get more but the decklists only need one to function properly :)
@@paytondaniel9432 They come with every card that they give you the list to build :) But the decks are singleton so they're not as coherent or strong as they should be but it's good for a casual game
again very typical of yugioh making sure you can't buy a good deck without spending hundreds of dollars you need minimum of 10 boxes ( equal $800 with no guarantee) to form a really good deck. they wonder why people didn't pick this up. the game in both formats are basically dead. Locals where I live don't play any yugioh formats! I should add in the state!
I think that's true of every game at the moment sadly. I think Yugioh is really inflated singles wise because it has a big competitive scene and Konami knows it
@@TabletopTeam world wide I guess full format yugioh still gets played. But speed duels was meant to be easier and faster and really yugioh should have had a full set of cards not just secret rare but add them as normal cards as well.
