29:38 degree is required because :
    1. It’s a proof from recognized institution that he can be hired. (How can the company know otherwise if the guy is qualified)
    2. And legally if the hired candidate commits a mistake on the job , the court will ask for who hired this guy without qualification. So it’s for the sake of company that the guy should be legally eligible for the job.

When a 27 year old is saying something like “degree zaroori nahi” he’s inside his bubble studio where he sees only successful people around him. But the reality for a poor guy is if he needs to get into the system he needs a degree. Many students have wasted their life listening to these kind of podcasts , they thought that degree is not important and started their own business and exhausted all the money they had and they are struck now without a degree. People like Steve Jobs or bill gates had their rich parents to support them, when they say they were poor they were atleast worth 10crores .. for a normal poor Indian guy he should complete his education and side by side youtube university will teach new skills.

Sensible comment I think you're right here
INDIA's 99% of the population falls in below 60-70lakh wealth line
So emerging from this to let's say 5-10 crore either by job or business is pretty hard
      So start small grow exponentially

      I agree.
Degree gives you structured knowledge of the whole field in a collated manner. While you can learn small skills from RUclips, a proper degree will provide you with collection of such skills with an holistic view of why you may need it and where to apply.
Also, how do i know if some one I am about to hire actually has the skills that they say they have? Degree is the accreditation of your skills (by Law).
RAJ YOUR TRUE QUESTION SHOULD BE, WHY IS INDIA FLOODED WITH such UNIVERSITIES THAT DO NOT PROVIDE THE SKILLS THAT THE UNIVERSITY PROMISES?

Raj needs to critically think when reading studies and stats. He mentions 30% of employer don't ask for degrees but doesn't see that 99% of people who work for them have degrees. They publicly don't say it but internally would reject you. Stats are often misinterpreted
Edit: maybe if he did a degree, he would understand that stats don't paint a full picture. Quite sad

manners are one of the core things that are sadly not taught by colleges. padhe likhe gawaar desh mein bhare huye hai. i second what Raj has said in this podcast. In this era, some skills can be acquired better from alternate sources vs. the conventional system. it enables the kids who have the talent, don't have the means to get college education because of monetary issues but have the capability of performing better than the ones who get 'proper education.'
yes, education is important, degree shouldn't be.

Jin logo ko top college mil bhi gyi h unki bhi zindagi jhand hi ho rakhi h . I am a 1st year student of LSR , Delhi University lekin I just don't find the course and classes fruitful here . Mujhe apna 9 to 4 tak time college me bitana padta h or at the end of the day jab me evaluate krti hoon toh pta chlta h ki Maine toh kuch sikha hi nhi jo main apne future jobs me apply kr sakoon😢😢😢.

I remember when I was in fybcom that handly I hade written the paper of 50 mark out of 100 in 2-3 subject out of 100
And mujhe pataa chal gaya thaa ki yr waste hogaa pass nai hogaa but I passed even though passing marks se nhi kam paper likha thaa
Then after few yr one of teacher of college who retired, she became my building members coincidentally and that time I asked her
Ki maine paper passing hone jitnaa bhi nai likhaa thaa toh pass kaise huaa
Then that time she told me that students fees are income for collage ....so Even aap kaa paper khraab likha regaa toh bhi collage vaale aap ko 1-2 subject mai KT dege taa ki collage ki income ho but fail nai kare ge
Bcoz agar fail kiyaa toh aap ki 2nd yr and last yr ki fees bhi jaa e gi, so koi bhi collage kyu apni income kam kare gi
So conclusion is student are just product for collage, student k education se collage vaale ko kuch Lena Dena nai hai .....khaali fees aani chy

    Hello Everyone,
This discussion about Degree is really good. My understanding about the degree is that it is a filtering criteria. There are millions of people who are applying for the job, it is not possible to filter every candidate based on skill and knowledge. So, degree and marks is used by MNCs to filter candidates unless you want to open your own company.
I am saying this with over a decade of experience in IT. I personally know folks who doesn't have proper education (12+3) years or 12+4 years and failed to get the job because of this.

English is not my 1st language but I am able to comment it in English and in somewhat correct grammar and also my school, my college and my university’s life and knowledge had taught me how to be a person of value in the society. I agree with the guest a person who has educated himself in colleges will have more civic sense and better rational and reasoned thinking than the one who is just heavily experienced

Many graduates leave academia with impressive degrees but lack the specific skills that employers seek. This disconnect between college curricula and industry needs creates a gap where graduates are well-versed in theory but unprepared for practical application.
As a result, while their degree/diplomas might suggest readiness, many find themselves struggling to meet the demands of the modern job market. This scenario underscores the pressing need for educational institutions to realign their programs with the evolving requirements of industry, ensuring that graduates are not only knowledgeable but also job-ready.

I only agree 25% with your guest, His stress to obtain degree is wrong. I agree with Raj that skill development is more important which will what you will deliver at the end of the day. Stress on degree is the reason that we lack skilled people. You need skilled people before Engineers. This is exactly what China did.Manners, negotiating skills, communication and computer skills is part of school education not university. I have worked in India for 12 years and outside India for almost 30 years. In western countries nobody bothers for your degree as long as you can deliver. Deference forces and other organizations educate employees for skills that they need. not for degree. They have no need to call that education a degree. People can learn more as they go further in their job. I have seen lot of graduates from IIT and IIM who have inflated ego and do not work and think that they are obliging the company. It is better to hire somebody from regional college who is ready to work.

You need degree (former dropout here); else:
    1. You aren't eligible for most jobs (as mentioned). Even if a job advertises no degree requirement, they'd lean towards folks who have degree.
    2. You aren't eligible for immigrant visas. Most immigrant visas are based on you having qualifications that aren't available in the foreign market.
    3. You'll have trouble getting credit. Loans, CC always collect education qualification, not having same drags attention to it.
Another reason I heard from employer:
    1. At that age, the only indicator that you can finish something to completion, is a multi year endeavour, is your degree.

Degree doesn't make you mature what guest is saying is absolutely incorrect, only life experiences make you mature and that doesn't happen in college.
What Raj is saying is absolutely correct that if you have your goal infront of you, work towards it and if you start getting enough money to beat the job from same degree only then you can drop out.
It's not an easy decision to make it depends on case to case but I strongly believe that follow passion along with degree until you can see long future with that passion

Abe yarr seedhi si baat hai - if you belongs to grade A institute or university toh placement wali job lelo easy access hai. Otherwise, agar tum average jagah s degree leke aaye ho uska koi logic nahi it doesn't make any diff between BA or B tech fiir skill real industry based tajurba chahiye in any segment in india.

Gosh, Raj is being so defensive!
Yes, some people without degree (such as Raj) have become sucessful. But most people without degree are unable to find well paying jobs.
Raj needs to broaden his sample size. He cannot make himself the reference point.

No one should nowadays go for a degree in hotel mgt. if he/she wants to become a hotelier he should just improve his/her communication skills and do a diploma course if one wants and straight away apply for the job and get trained there in whichever dept. he/she is interested .

Not here to criticize Raj. But if you call someone on your podcast, let's listen to his experience. Better not to impose your thoughts on him and get validation on your thinking.
If you disagree on something just put your thoughts in front rather than dragging the whole conversation to just one point 'degree'

modern approach to education has two steps
step1 . we need to join a college to get a degree from
step2. we need to find a source to get the learning from ,

I completely disagree. Im having opinions that join any college get degree but after degree work for good organization and lean at your initial internship.
After 4years of work profile nobody ask about college. Employers only ask about work profile

*Your content’s fab bro but as you’ve chosen your channel to be in Hindi, why don’t you also write the texts & captions in our own 🇮🇳 हिन्दी language instead of in favour of English - given we’re lucky that our language has its own Devanagri Script?* - especially considering that according to the latest 2011 Census, 56% of Indians can speak हिन्दी as a 1st, 2nd or 3rd language - compared to only 10% who’re literate in English (which actually fell from 12% a decade ago in 2001).
