Probably the greatest underrated band, with some really incredible musicians... Lowell George's slide playing definitely deserves a lesson on its own right...but thank you for this David 🙏
Well shucks. You just filled in why we all kept fumbling around with these tunes in the 70's, the slide plus the open A was a sound none of us could ever get right. Drop D was about as exotic as we usually got back then. Thank you. As so nicely said in the great Fistful of Yen skit from Amazon Women on the Moon: "You bring honor to our ancestors. You are building a guitar force of extraordinary magnitude." Keep laughing and playing, loved this one.
Great stuff man! There's a live recording of Lowell telling the story about getting kicked out of Zappa's band for writing a song about weed, while introducing the song. The other secret weapon LF had was Paul Barrere. Little Feat's 2 🎸 magic was very powerful.
Awesome! Lowell George was a treasure, one we lost way too early. Your unraveling of Little Feat's magic will help many of us who love them to pass their music on. Thank you.
At some point, around ‘76 or ‘77 LG was tuning to G and capo at 2nd fret. He also was using a 5/8 socket wrench on his middle or third finger. Both Bonnie Raitt and Mick Taylor have praised Lowell for his technique. Thanks David for great content! 😊
Thanks for the spotlight on such an incredible band in the 70's. Lowell George is a testament to slide guitar and innovation. Not to mention the rhythm section he had... knockin' out that Louisiana beat..
Interesting, I learned Willin’ in standard tuning. Lots of creative chord opportunities to play with and the vocal harmonies. Great songs stand up to multiple interpretations and this one got my creative juices flowing.
Interesting you feature Keeping up with the Joneses in open A! I was a little surprised that this is in open A, because by Time Loves a Hero, Lowell was becoming uninvolved in Little Feat, and the studio version only has one guitar track on it ( I assume Paul Barrere's) and at this point I think Paul Barrere was sticking to standard mostly unless it was a song he played slide on. Kind of hard to know for sure considering both Paul and Lowell are gone but they are both credited on the song as writers. Would love to see more open tuning videos in additions to the ones you have- always loved the Feat and Lowell's years especially growing up. Fantastic job- not trying to be a nitpicking type!

You never fail to surprise me with my favorite bands!
Very cool David, thank you. Have always loved this music but never dug into it. Open A makes perfect sense now that you handed it to me.
Imagine, George & Danny Gatton were going to work together on Lowell's solo projects.!
Thanks David!
Nice. Willin' had my toe tapping. Thanks Mr. Brew!
As always, great job explaining what's going with the music you're teaching us along with the back stories. Thank you!
Thank You! No wonder I couldn't play these songs!
I love the old school stuff, David! Thanks!
That was aweome Dave. Love early Little Feat. Great job. Thanks!

Finally. Thank you.
Good work!
Kick Ass! Love it 🔥 🎸 🔥
Lowell is a legend. 👍🏻 btw: Steve Miller’s “Jungle Love” is in open A tuning 😎
Waiting for Columbus is the undeniable best live album!
Good stuff! It would nice to have time stamps in the vid description for future reference 😎
Yes!!!!
Nice job as always but it would be really helpful if you put in bookmarks to divide the different licks you're doing.
Lowell was an offing genius.
Story I heard is that Zappa said, "You're sacked, here's the money, go form yourself a band"
You should check out an Aussie band called The Angels, especially their song Fashion and Fame.
Chords of RamJam are waiting..........
What are you playing through? SWR?
Underrated??? Anyhow, check out 'Willin'.
