J'étais a leur concert de l'Olympia Paris, leur plaisir d'avoir un chanteur pas drogué ni ivre était plus qu'évident, ils échangeaient de clins d'œil et rigolaient en jouant 😅..... Ian était parfait
Ditto. When Astbury came back to the mike after the solos I thought for a split second “my god it’s Jim.” Not to take anything away from Enon. It was just uncanny
Channelling energy is a good thing, done right, like here, I think Ray missed his friend, Jim, and Robbie too.. Ian did a genuine work, its great, wow, I liked v much, Thanks for posting :)
@@bongodave13 Morrison was a god. Damn the man was the prettiest guy in rock. And I think Ian Astbury is beautiful so saying Morrison is the most beautiful means a lot coming from me
Similar for me. First Cult video I saw, I though immediately that this guy was trying to cop Jim Morrison in some way. Obviously he got the nod from Ray Manzarek, but there was only one Jim Morrison.
I'm about 99% certain this was the show that was at the Orlando Hard Rock Live. The show was completely sold out and Ian Asbury did a fantastic job fronting for Jim! The crowd was just eating it up and you can tell the band was loving every minute of it which probably prompted Ray to get very animated during this song LOL! I knew that Robbie Krieger was going to have that iconic guitar solo in the song and I purposely got up for my seat and walked over to the balcony on the right hand side of the theater so I was literally above and to the left of him and watch them intently play that guitar and I had goosebumps that entire solo!!
he is great leving the band carrying on having all the stage for them, thats respect, for all of them, their music and their history and not least their audience. If you dont mind me mentioning Axl Rose doing exactly the same with AC/DC..different wizards of a very similar breed
Jim Morrison was 5 11 and had blue eyes. In his prime weighed 150 to 160lbs. The true lizard king, in reality a Celtic shaman for he was primarily scotch.
When Jim Morrison died, some people said that maybe Iggy Pop should be the replacement for Jim at the time, but that never happened, I like Ian Astbury very much and I think Ray and Robby chose the best possible replacement, although I honestly don't when bands take other singers, but this is much better than The Queen etc..
ALready in 1985 it was clear Astbury was very similar to Morrison and I wondered why he did not get the role in the movie somewhere in 1990. May be acting skills. Only this week I found out he was considered for the role. Another thing is that Astbury claimed in an interview he did notwant to impersonate Morrison in the Doors. But to me it is very clear he is virtual copy. I like it actualy, because Morrison was gone way too soon and now we kind of had him back for a while.
I'm glad I ignored all my friends who snubbed them at the time and went to their concert back in 2004. Fantastic songs played by great musicians, what's not to like? I'd rather Astbury didn't mimic Morrison so much though, it was kinda creepy. A pity they never went into the studio too, I'd love to listen some new material by this band - or even new versions of Doors classics.
It was cool seeing Ray and Robby together again after so many years. But Ian was a bad imitation of Jim and didn’t bring much to the table vocally. Not impressed with Ty Dennis either although he was a better fit than Copeland. I saw this lineup a few times and wish they had gone about it differently.
wohoo, lets' play the same shitty riff for 4 minutes. ooh yeaa freak out, it feels so real, I can feel the feelings, aaahhhh the sky is here, real near, beer
for me Ian Astbury was always a real rockstar ! I like him
👉nice ian astbury lead vocal The Cult band.. 🤘🙏😎
That solo, great stuff. I loooove it. Ian is a good singer, super job , however there is one Jim M. For ever.
I saw them in 2004 at the Tweeter Center in Tinley Park Illinois on the 4th of July opening for ZZ Top. I am so happy I saw this show. RIP Ray.
Robby & Ray in musical heaven, jamming. Wish they had toured earlier. Robby is still amazing go see him any chance you get!

Robbie Krieger is still alive
@@rnicholasmartin1335 John Densmore too, but I think he doesn't play anymore.
Actually gives me chills

Such a cool version!! I hadn't previously realized how similar Ian Astbury actually looks like Jim Morrison.
63Turbo he sounds like him too
You sure got that right!!
Morrison was alot better looking
@@DJK-cq2uy Morrison was better looking than just about everybody.
@@bongodave13 Morrison was a god. Damn the man was the prettiest guy in rock. And I think Ian Astbury is beautiful so saying Morrison is the most beautiful means a lot coming from me
Ray Manzarek the Boss!
Why did he die. He had so much to tell..... I love him.
Saw this show in Albuquerque. Amazing!!!
Ian Astbury is Great
Ian rocks!!!!
I said from the first time I saw Ian Astbury, that he reminded me of Jim Morrison. My wife said no. She was wrong, wasn't she.
She was so wrong on this, you should divorce her, LOL!
I've always had that feeling too! As well in voice as in appearance.
Similar for me. First Cult video I saw, I though immediately that this guy was trying to cop Jim Morrison in some way. Obviously he got the nod from Ray Manzarek, but there was only one Jim Morrison.
I thought he looked and sounded like him as well. He had the same stage presence as Jim to.
@ToolGal462 -- Lay off the acid. Jim Morrison is dead unfortunately.
I saw "the Doors of the 21st Century" at Wembley Arena, London, UK TWICE- they were UTTERLY AMAZING!! such a shame John Densmore wasn't with them :(
He replied to that specific inquiry: ' The Doors without Jim would be like the Stones without Mick'.
This is GREAT.!!!!
I always KNEW Ian would fit this band perfectly.
nah, best jim morrison replacement woulda been michael hutchense
Muuuiiito bom!!! Valeu!!Solos maravilhosos!!! Ian está super sexy!!!
gives me the chills....................i dig it...
Really great performance on this one. I wish Ray would have used his Vox Continental though
He didn't even use the vox continental live during the 60's cause it was too fragile. I believe he used a Gibson keyboard.
Astbury has that 'almost shamanic' energy by the way...

Saw this incarnation of the doors (21st century) twice that year in 2003 in Houston. March28th,Oct 26th.They recorded
Love it
This worked really good. I was hoping this would take off, but never did.
I saw them in London twice My God I thought Jim had resurrected Brilliant
una gran canción

Rest in heavenly peace Ray

Scary Awesomeness

They say it was shit?
But I see them at the roundhouse New Year’s Eve years back and was amazing !!!!!
Ian a repris le flambeau tendu par Jim, depuis l'Au Delà

Great look alike

👍🍷💯🔥🎸alright Robby
I alway liked Bite My Wire.
RIP Ray

wouuuuuuu yeaaaaahhh!
Did he do the finger tap for the original song?
He’s more beautiful than Morrison ever was
Better singer. More stage presence. Even better hair.
It sounds a little bit decaf, isn't it?
He sounds good but there's only 1 Jim Morrison.
Yea well, I'm lit.
It’s ok. Nowhere near the energy with Jim.

To be fair on certain Cult cuts, he sounds like Morrisson anyway.
wait... robby krieger invented tapping?
I'm only here for Ray.
😂😂😂😂 imitar Jim Morrison impossívellllll
Why do they all step on the piano keys though? They don’t play so well that way
Once I realized O Stone was a NWO stooge. Made me love so much Ian’s presence. Doors movie a total pile.

i know where you are coming from baby
That doesn't sound right without John Densmore. Ian was terrific.
Personally, I think it was a bad idea to get a Val Kilmer impersonator to sing.
He looks more like jim than val Kilmer
Hell no
