Steve, thanks for this video. My 2019 Odyssey has 52K on it and I have yet to change the plugs. Recently, I discovered that Honda recommends changing at 30K. The tips will really help me on the back side and wire connection removal.
I'm a do it yourself, was having issue with the coil connection!! Thanks for the help!! The stealership quoted me $511 dollars to do this!! Ha no chance. Thanks for putting this video out!
Good video! When I do these, I remove the coil pack bolt first and pull the coil up about 2" and THEN unplug the coil pack. Makes it easier to get a good pinch 'n wiggle on the plug and then a 6-in extension with a wobble tip works well for the plugs. When reinstalling you do it the same way for visibility like you stated.
You're right; there are not many videos of replacing spark plugs on this engine. I'm going to change my 2019 Honda Pilot's spark plugs tomorrow. I guess I need to buy another small extension. Appreciate the video
I don’t recall, my wife and I bought it used. It has roughly 60-80k on the clock and it was more or less a feel good measure to get them replaced. I’m sure it’s in the maintenance manual.
You’re welcome. Yah know, I’m not a 100% sure why I didn’t lol. I can’t seem to remember, possibly to control or limit myself to not over torque the plugs. I certainly could’ve gone back over the plugs with a torque wrench to Honda’s desired spec but in my years of changing plugs, I’ve never had an issue with the T handle (knock on wood)
Sorry for the delayed response, I’ll measure my extensions and update a detailed list of tools used in a day or so. All tools used can be easily found and purchased from a local auto parts store or home improvement store.

Thanks for watching!
What gap are you setting on the new plugs?
@@gbh123476 I bought the OEM NGK plugs, and they came with 0.044 mm
@@gbh123476 with iridium plugs, they’re pre gapped. You shouldn’t have to gap them. Key word “shouldn’t”
Thank You for making this video! You’re right, there are no other videos on the 2018 odyssey.
What was the mileage when you changed them?

Dude, thanks so much! Great video. Please do more 18 odyssey videos!
Thank you for the feedback! Anything in particular?
Thanks for the tips! They should save me some time and aggravation.
You bet!
Great suggestions on using multiple 3 inch extensions as this is a must.
@@ksc411G thank you for the feedback!
Ty so much o couldnt get those darn coil plugs off lol really appreciate the clear video
I couldn’t get the dang coil pack unplugged. Thanks so much.
Very welcome, thanks for your kind response!
Thanks for the tips brother, why didn’t you just use the ratchet for the back spark plugs??
You’re welcome.

For those with this generation Odyssey and other models, Honda released a recall on the engine with notifications going out in January.
Could you link me to the extensions and such you need for the back spark plugs?

I still owe you the information. It’s been a busy and hectic week. I haven’t forgot about you.
decent info
@@BT-ih6kr thanks! I’ll take decent over horrible lol.
@@Hopethisworkssteve ooops. hoping that did not come across as rude
Any symptoms before you changed plugs ? Notice any difference in engine idling?
No, it was all preventative.
Is this the same for the 2018 pilot v-6?
If it’s the same engine, I would assume so.
I think this video would have been better to actually do it rather than describing how to do it.
Thanks for your feedback. As this is my first video that has gained traction, I appreciate everyone giving suggestions!
