- In the aftermath of the 1906 Earthquake and Fire, Chinatown rose from the ashes-rebuilt and reinvented as one of San Francisco's most prominent icons, a major international tourist attraction and a touchstone for Chinese in America. "Chinatown Rising" celebrates the spirit of a community recognized for promoting Chinese heritage and culture while embracing American civic life, values, and institutions.

Thank you for this very interesting documentary! Such an important part of SF.
1:40 - that's my family! The Sue family! Thank you for showing this photo, I never knew exactly when this was taken! My great-grandmother Goldie is the young girl in black holding her older sister's hand.
This is a great piece of original music and video compilation, transporting one back in time to a pivotal time in the history of a unique American community. Thank you CHSA!
Thank you for the documentary. Brings back memories - miss the Great Star Theater on Jackson, and the Orange Julius on Grant Avenue.
Lily Yep, my mother in law!!!
Fair video history of SF Chinatown where I lived and played two blocks away on Mason Street during the 1950's. Not too original with many seen before photos. I rate this a 2 stars. Thanks for the effort though.
