Did anyone notice the amount of front facing closeups in this movie? Like in every tensed scene, the frame is full of the character's face... reminds me of Come and See
I like the way this scene ends. People who got caught up in the action missed the point, but what is supposed to be the climactic "return" scene results in Amleth quickly running out of steam and getting taken down by a few nameless soldiers. @@T3lp3ri0n Ah, make sure you're not conflating the term "hero" with "protagonist". Because while Amleth is certainly the protagonist, his actions and arc are hardly heroic. I love this so much, but I think it should've been 2 times as long and it should've been way bloodier. This is almost at the very peak of the movie or at least it is a very big moment and he only gets a couple of swings on his enemies. He should've unsheathed the sword, kill a bunch of them then when he loses the swords he could've took the guys axe went to work... THEN someone fires an arrow at him so others can take him down and the fight finishes.
The fight choreography was definitely lacking in this movie, it was to slow and simple to be impressive. However I noticed that most of the combat scenes are filmed with a continuous tracking shot, so it was the productions choice to sacrifice a more flashy choreography for more immerse filming style.
I assume you probably believe that the Norse were your typical idiotic right wing fascists? They were more liberal with their customs and "sexuality," than you might believe.
@cmd7930 your pagan ancestors fucked dead horses. cope all you want, it won't make it any less true that you bear the blood of rapists and murderers who engaged in debauchery far worse than the things you find objectionable now.
I thought the same. But it could be also realistic. Because they fear him and Amleth has good reflexes, he usually keeps his calm and counters their attacks. With that adrenaline and fear pumping in your blood usually you attack without thinking... I am not sure though they were supposed to be trained soldiers. Unless we had a time machine to see a viking's battle with our own eyes it is hard to be sure. However i didn't watch it for the action (What's the point of it anyways?) in it so it was good enough for me.
You don’t kill a slave. In other words, you don’t damage your masters property of which he paid good money for or you might end up having the same fate.
Interesting because this is what I liked about the fight scenes the most. Makes it more realistic, he’s a skilled fighter but a man from hundreds of years ago still… Like any real fight it’s not gonna have clean punches and super agile attacks.
There are no edits in the fighting scene, which means the director wanted the actors to get it right in one take with the idea that one long tracking shot would make the fight feel more immersed for the audience. Instead it had a negative effect where we notice how fake and slow the actors are moving.

THEN someone fires an arrow at him so others can take him down and the fight finishes.
you need to rewatch it. he couldnt unsheathe for a reason
Horrible fighting. They are too slow and telegraph each attack from a mile away.
The fight choreography was definitely lacking in this movie, it was to slow and simple to be impressive. However I noticed that most of the combat scenes are filmed with a continuous tracking shot, so it was the productions choice to sacrifice a more flashy choreography for more immerse filming style.
norwegians then: "valhaaaalaaaa"
norwegians now: 🏳️🌈
I assume you probably believe that the Norse were your typical idiotic right wing fascists?
They were more liberal with their customs and "sexuality," than you might believe.
@@FemboyPrincedefinitely not
Stop your jewish nonsense
Germanic peoples were patriarchal and monogamous until filty jews with their propaganda
@cmd7930 your pagan ancestors fucked dead horses. cope all you want, it won't make it any less true that you bear the blood of rapists and murderers who engaged in debauchery far worse than the things you find objectionable now.
Valhalla isn't real. They all fought and died for nothing.
@@FemboyPrincefascism is a perfectly valid and functioning form of government. pull your head out of your ass and see the world for what it is.
I really dislike how the fighting looks in that movie. Guys are charging at him with zero intention to harm him just to get fcked up. Weird.
Makes it more realistic, he’s a skilled fighter but a man from hundreds of years ago still…
Like any real fight it’s not gonna have clean punches and super agile attacks.
@@tds7078 also cus they're actors and they're not really gonna hurt each other unless their a crazy good actor
There are no edits in the fighting scene, which means the director wanted the actors to get it right in one take with the idea that one long tracking shot would make the fight feel more immersed for the audience. Instead it had a negative effect where we notice how fake and slow the actors are moving.
pretty shit vengeance...
