I agree; it took me a while to get the hang of the controls. I do know the developer is continually working on updates, so hopefully more improvements are on the way.
Thanks for this review! I have been looking for a review on this game for switch cause I thought it was just me that had a hard time with the controls! I love collecting and crafting games so that pushed me to see the game through to the end but I definitely agree that the basement quest didn't feel like enough. I kept hoping I would go to an island and find a new character to befriend and learn their story but there was nothing like that. For me it was a decent play for the sale price.
I just started playing, and I noticed right away that the controls are not very intuitive. I agree with the other things you said about the lack of storage, not being able to easily put away your tool, not knowing how to eat, and how to fish. All of these things are so small, but together it reduces the relaxing aspect of the game for me. Additionally I was also bummed out to find the only real quest of the game was to build that machine. I have ADHD so I like when games have different milestones and goals to accomplish; it keeps me engaged and interested in playing. I bought it while it was on sale and I'm glad I did. I don't wake up wanting to play it like I do with other games, like Stardew Valley and ACNH. I'm glad I found your channel because I thought maybe I was missing details about quests in the game. Thank you for making this video!
I too have attention issues (and never finish games, lol), and this game definitely struggled to keep me interested. The aesthetics are so happy and cute, but the gameplay just isn't enough for me to pay full price. On sale though, I think it's a decent buy. :)

I absolutely agree with everything that you found annoying, although I have managed to unlock a storage chest upgrade, it is exactly the same as the backpack. Same price and it just gives one new slot. I have also obtained a diy recipe for an oven which allows me to cook all fruit and veggie produce, crabs and fish. That bumps up the sale price quite a bit which is helping me obtain the price for the house expansion. I won’t be looking at fulfilling the basement quest any time soon as I just don’t like the amount of items each section requires 😆 Regarding the bridges, you can take them to other islands with you and use them there. Whacking them with the pick axe dismantles them so you can take them home with you. Would I buy the game at full price, probably not, but on sale I think it’s okay 😅 I love pixel graphics though ☺️
You have much more patience and determination than I do! 😁 I'm happy to hear that incremental storage increases are available eventually and that bridges do have a use! I sure wish this was hinted at near the beginning so new players wouldn't get discouraged. Thanks so much for your comments! 🥰
I agree with most of your criticism. I feel like the price really hinders it from really popping off and getting a solid following. I just can't see how someone could justify selling it for more than Stardew Valley. With Stardew, you undoubtedly get more for less. But this is still a wonderful game and has plenty of merit. Hopefully, it will be on sale a lot on the switch like some titles are. And the storage system needs some serious tlc. Great review!
Where Sprout Valley excels is the overall adorable aesthetic, especially compared to Stardew. Stardew really is a bargain for its price. But yes, I think keeping it closer to its sale price would help it long-term. It definitely is a cute little game! 😊

Sprout Valley is indeed a relaxing, adorable game. My current new relaxing game is Farm Together 2, but it's only on PC currently, but the original is on Switch if that's your platform..
I purchased this on sale for $1.99 and as such, have no complaints. I figured everything out easily and grinding everything to build the machine. It's fun.
I’m totally obsessed with the game but I do hate that to upgrade inventory it takes 2,000 coins and it only increase by one 😭 I got use to the switch controls after a couple hours so it doesn’t bother me.

I'm guessing the button labeling is due to it being a Japanese console, but it confuses the heck out of my brain since I'm accustomed to an XBox controller. 🤣 Oh, and since you're from Ohio....O-H
??? It's literally identical to Xbox but with the letters shifted (the Nintendo version was invented first btw) I mean, compare it to Xbox. Clockwise, the buttons are YBAX. So that layout is fine, but the Nintendo one (XABY) that's where you draw the line? That's ridiculous. If you mainly play Xbox and aren't used to Nintendo that's completely fine, but don't go and call it "disastrous" because of that

Nintendo’s controls are not backwards. Nintendo came before PlayStation and Xbox, therefore Nintendo created the controller and D-pad. This means that the other console brands controls are backwards.
I guess it's from the perspective of we read left to right (whereas Japanese read right to left I think), which is likely why Nintendo's controls have A on the right and B on the left, same with X and Y...it just doesn't make sense to my brain. :)
No not worth it , the ending was dull.its not even worth to really juice or cook just sell and but bee hive. Never bother fishing , a waste while visiting island just givr enough resources .
I seem to keep running into glitches on the Switch. IDK If i don’t know what im dong or it’s a glitch. First after 18 game days im on an island with nothing no trees, no bushes nothing and back to my original 500 i started a new file and bridges laid out but i couldnt reclaim them using any tools. I couldnt go anywhere because my mislaid bridge is blocking me from making a new bridge. Then day 22 i wake up to an island full of trees and weeds that were not there before i can’t move freely anymore i go one way and cant go any further even tho nothing is blocking me from moving. The bridge that was going into the water is now suddenly looking like a path on my island and i cant pick it back up
This is currently worth $1.99 on Switch. Since it's cheaper, I might get it? I do think it looks cute. Thank you for the review!

I was planning on buying this today since its on sale again, and seems like its a lot like stardew valley but cuter
For $5, it's a bargain. It's a cuter version of Stardew just is much simpler and more grindy IMO. It's 100% worth it on sale though. :)

If you click on the dresser/wardrobe in your house, you can equip a pet that's in your pocket. It's been a few weeks, but I think that's correct. :)
