it's a great play, but Jordan's steal leading into "the shot" does it for me. For context, Stockton nails a 3 with about 45 seconds left and puts the Jazz up 3. MJ gets the inbound and immediately scores with 37 seconds left on the clock. Jazz take their time, kick it to Malone, Jordan rips it with something like 15 seconds left and they're still down 1. As a fan of the Warriors team I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything more amazing than what Lebron and Kyrie did in 2016. Once the Warriors lost Bogut and Harrison Barnes forgot how to play basketball LBJ & Kyrie went ham.
I remember jason kidd and richard jefferson on the new jersey nets play against my Detroit Pistons, back to back years the new jesery nets was a solid team, the 2002 to 2003, my team got swept by the nets and went to game 7 in 2003 to 2004, my favorite defensive memory was watching my Detroit Pistons play against the Indiana Pacers in 2004 and it was a defensive slugfest among both teams and the detroit pistons relied on Richard Hamilton to get past the pacers since the pacers had my favorite shooting guard reggie miller played on the pacers and the detroit pistons had to go thru reggie miller and the defensive juggernauts in the Indiana pacers with Jermaine O'Neal, Ron test and there roster, the block on reggie miller when reggie miller was by the basket and tayshaun prince was about half court and came out of nowhere and blocked reggie miller's layup. The defensive stop by tayshaun prince epitomize the detroit pistons and there track record of kind of team they are during the era of basketball during the 80s and the bad boys. The way the 2004 Detroit Pistons held teams under 70 points even against the lakers in game 3 in the 2004 nba finals.
That block was the most jaw dropping play that could ever happen and the most unexpected play to ever occur. For sure players and fans who were watching it live, never expected Bron to just suddenly appear on the frame of their televisions and in person blocking that shot. Throughout the year that 2 on 1 fast break with Iguodala and curry is an automatic bucket and to see it denied on the biggest game and on the biggest stage in that manner is just wow.
LeBron's block is the biggest defensive play in NBA history when you factor in degree of difficulty and leverage (closing minutes of game 7 of the Finals). Giannis' block is one of the hardest plays to replicate (harder than a chase down; for reference, Giannis had an athletic chase down block earlier in the series), and the fact that it happened in the closing minutes of the Finals doesn't hurt its legacy, either. But it's still Bron 1, Giannis 2.
@@2011hwalker Maybe YOU don't remember Giannis' block. Maybe you don't even remember that JJ brought up the Giannis block in this video around 4:21 and compared it to LeBron's. And wth, I even said LeBron's was 1 and Giannis' was 2.
Respectfully disagree. Building in the context of LBJs block: game 7, coming back from 3-1, full court chase down on a 2 on 1 layup. Not to mention you just could just feel that the whoever scored next was going to win the game. In my opinion it’s not splitting hairs, LBJ’s block is for my money the greatest defensive play ever and it’s not close.
@@stevenrichardson8355 Bron's block was better due to the circumstances and should be ranked #1, but Giannis' block is harder to replicate which is why you rarely ever see a guy smoothly transition from defending the PnR to blocking an alleyoop block. I give it to LeBron, but out of sheer degree of difficulty Giannis' is pretty special.
@@mrmacross again I have to respectfully disagree. LBJ block imo is harder to replicate. Like RJ said even a split second late and it’s a goal tend. Also, not only did LBJ have to sprint nearly full court, the fact that he was able to take into account that iggy was going to double pump the layup is just insane. I think if you gave Giannis 10 tries to get his block, he would be able a few times. Idk if LBJ would be able to replicate his block if he tried a 100 times.
To be honest the Cavs weren't even with the Warriors. Kyrie and especially LeBron just had the most outrageous 3 game stretch I've ever seen. Those might've been the 3 greatest games LeBron ever played. I don't think that feat was repeatable even if they didn't have Durant.
@@shepardice3775 To me it was, Ultimate small-ball versus ultimate balling. KD just broke the entire system at that point. Nothing was going to be fair after that.
@@shepardice3775 you're right about them having the most outrageous three game stretch from a duo ever but they were definitely even in terms of talent. The warriors just played a better style of basketball which was ahead of it's time and now everyone plays it or at least tries to. It seems like you are saying the warriors were the better team which I believe is true. A suspension to green, Iggy's back issues, and bogut going down game 5 helped the cavs come back.
As a Celtic fan I have to admit adebayos block on Tatum during one playoff game (can’t remember which, feel free to remind me) to end the game was a nasty defensive play

Precisely sir...for me that is the greatest highlight in NBA history of all-time..imagine 3-1 on a number 1 team of all-time (73-9) against the 2 greatest shooters of all-time and the 2 defensive superstar (green-igoudala)..

Once the Warriors lost Bogut and Harrison Barnes forgot how to play basketball LBJ & Kyrie went ham.
That "God bless" on Mario Chalmers🤣🤣 sent me
I remember jason kidd and richard jefferson on the new jersey nets play against my Detroit Pistons, back to back years the new jesery nets was a solid team, the 2002 to 2003, my team got swept by the nets and went to game 7 in 2003 to 2004, my favorite defensive memory was watching my Detroit Pistons play against the Indiana Pacers in 2004 and it was a defensive slugfest among both teams and the detroit pistons relied on Richard Hamilton to get past the pacers since the pacers had my favorite shooting guard reggie miller played on the pacers and the detroit pistons had to go thru reggie miller and the defensive juggernauts in the Indiana pacers with Jermaine O'Neal, Ron test and there roster, the block on reggie miller when reggie miller was by the basket and tayshaun prince was about half court and came out of nowhere and blocked reggie miller's layup.
That was definitely the single greatest play I have ever seen.
Best play I ever saw
Humbled him with that “ how’s your schedule looking “ line 😂 J.J b booked up
Mario chalmers god bless 😂
These two are the future of nba broadcasting.
RJ tryna school JJ 😂
The most imaging thing about this block was everyone on the court was gassed AF. And he Went superhuman .
No one remembers the Giannis block lol not even close. That Warriors team was one of the best teams ever.
@@2011hwalker Maybe YOU don't remember Giannis' block. Maybe you don't even remember that JJ brought up the Giannis block in this video around 4:21 and compared it to LeBron's.
And wth, I even said LeBron's was 1 and Giannis' was 2.
I remember when he did a voice commentary on it before and said “I literally saw a black blur” LMAOO
9:29 "any team... with GOOD players"
If you want to win championships you need other good players
Man, RJ and JJ have chemistry 😂 hat dude better watch out
"Mario Chalmers"
"God bless"
These two are fuckin funny lmao
LBJ and Giannis' blocks were both amazing to me. Which one was better is splitting hairs. Love the show 👍
Respectfully disagree.
@@stevenrichardson8355 ok cool
They were both great y does one need to be better??? I swear white people don’t do this … all there players are the greatest.
Idk if LBJ would be able to replicate his block if he tried a 100 times.
rj busting his balls about being the new kid on the block mid story about lebron is a golden moment
The teams were even and they added Durant .. think of that , of course the cavs didn’t stand a chance . Rockets should’ve beat them though
To be honest the Cavs weren't even with the Warriors. Kyrie and especially LeBron just had the most outrageous 3 game stretch I've ever seen. Those might've been the 3 greatest games LeBron ever played. I don't think that feat was repeatable even if they didn't have Durant.
With current rules now, Harden wouldn't even be close to taking them to the Finals. His gimmick is outlawed now.
@@shepardice3775 To me it was, Ultimate small-ball versus ultimate balling. KD just broke the entire system at that point. Nothing was going to be fair after that.
@@shepardice3775 I agree here. Just like the year before with the Warriors, there were a ton of circumstances that allowed the Cavs to win
I gotta start listening to Road Trippin again, used to be my favorite
Funny thing is LeBrons block on Thiago Splitter might be the best of his career.
You trippin
@@elmehdinafia1237 that block was insane though😂😂did you ever see the one where he blocked Brandon Roy??? He lit tossed it out of the arena
LMFAAOOOO!!! JJ and RJ are hilarious, they need a podcast together
And Iggy double clutched the layup which adds to the difficulty cause bron had to read and time that mid air
I liked the exchange between you two
As a Celtic fan I have to admit adebayos block on Tatum during one playoff game (can’t remember which, feel free to remind me) to end the game was a nasty defensive play
It was one of the games in the bubble playoffs
Totally agree about the Toronto series.
I want to watch the entire playoffs and finals again in it's entirety.
This might of been Lebrons last year in his prime too🔥
Clearly a casual.
cap 2018
It is.. LeBron is my favorite Player but it's clearly in year 20, his health was declined to only play 50-53 games played
His 30ppg will drop to 21ppg, 12 assts
2018 Lebron was the most complete basketball player ever... Dude dropped 51 in the Finals and lost the game in OT because it was 4 hall of fame player vs 1. Most game winners ever in a Playoff run and 3 being buzzer beaters. Lebronto... 2018 Lebron was going to dominate the warriors and the knew it after the finals. No other reason to add KD to a 72-9 team other than we have to beat Bron
@@solidghost3263That 50 point game is maybe the greatest performance ever. At some point not even 4 hall of famers could stop him
I remember that block and the announcer and thinking to myself "That's the best play I have ever seen"
The greatest play in NBA history
Precisely sir...for me that is the greatest highlight in NBA history of all-time..imagine 3-1 on a number 1 team of all-time (73-9) against the 2 greatest shooters of all-time and the 2 defensive superstar (green-igoudala)..
The most athletic man in the world makes an athletic play in a big moment, truly ground-breaking. I would be more impressed if he went 2 for 2 from the FT line to win a game.
It had been 89-89 for like three straight minutes when he made that block. The tension was incredible. It really felt like whoever scored next would win.
Thank you! Finally someone recognizes Mario Chalmers!
I know it’s not the point of the clip but Richard and JJ ribbing each other and their knowledge is hilarious and entertaining
“He had Mario chalmers” peak jj troll 😭
Love listening to RJ and Reddick. RJ in particular is gold!
Is there any specific reason why Richard said "God bless" when JJ named Mario Chalmers? Rio was one of my favourite players I would like to know more there
He was getting flak around that time for saying that no player "feared" LeBron.
JJ with “Mario Chalmers” 😂😂😂
RJ entertaining as hell w stories
RJ and JJ co-hosting a podcast would be legendary.
JJ how you only got your Old Man and the Three hoodies as Small and Medium.....
Jj saying “mario chalmers” is hilarious
i literally fell out of my chair in disbelief when i saw the block happen, I couldn't believe it.
Little-known fact: Mike Breen hopped out of his chair when he said, "Oh, blocked by James!"
I love how people just name the long list of hall of gamers and top 75 guys he’s played with and then act like that didn’t lead to a lot of his success.
2016 NBA Finals is still the best finals series of all time. (I’ve only watched from ‘08 forward)
Legendary black with an even more legendary call by Breen!
Them mentioning Mario Chalmers has to be a troll 😂
Hardens block on Dort was great. And Bams block on Tatum are 2 great ones too
It was a goaltend. He touched the basket during the block which is illegal.
Thank you richard for bringing up the part about the block that no one give Lebron Credit for. That is he played every minute of that Game 7. Never sat on the bench once.
0:31
Shout out to Mario Chalmers the GOAT 🐐 🐐 🐐
one of the most prettiest blocks was LBJ again in finals against the spurs center splitter in game 2!
Don perignon you brought it ❤
I remember grabbing my wife’s thigh like Steve Balmer when I was watching that legendary play 😅😅
0:30 Mario chalmers is going give JJ that smoke for bringing up his name🙏🏾🤦🏾♂️😂
You wouldn’t think this voice was jumpin out the gym back in the day 😂😂
My favorite NBA moment in history.
I have seen pinned layups. I have never seen someone stop ball on the drive then go block the lob to a 7 footer after injuring his knee. Insane.
