      This is a good chase down block, but no one ever talks about how JR Smith made Iguodala double clutch which gave LeBron time to catch up. Tayshawn's chase down of Reggie Miller is the best simply because Reggie had a clear path to the basket.

    Bron's block is so crazy because in certain frames before Iggy goes up, Bron isn't in the picture. He covers so much ground and a thing people miss is that he taps the right and left of the backboard. Please go back and watch it from other angles or snapshot pictures, Bron blocks it with his right but he would have pinned it with his left if Iguodala reversed it. Legendary play.

A situation like that predicts a offensive score by a huge margin. The second closest defender is essentially out of position, and up until the last second, there is no real chance that the cavs could do anything defensively to STOP the warriors from scoring. @@Christopher._M Giannis’s was more impressive, but Lebron’s was the greatest given the story and context of what missing the block would mean. There was so much tension. Game 7. Tied for 3 minutes straight. Under two minutes to go. Warriors had set the record for regular season wins and gone up 3-1 to start the series. Cavs are only in it due to some extreme controversy. You had a feeling that whoever hit the next shot would win, especially if it were the warriors. They were the better team and you thought the cavs luck had to run out at some point. Lebron misses that block and it’s almost guaranteed to be the end. Pressure would’ve all been on the Cavs at a point when they were ice cold. For Giannis, the bucks were down 2-1, so losing certainly would’ve created a challenge, but it wouldn’t have been over. Plus they were up 2 at that time in the game, so it really would’ve just tied the score at a point where both teams were trading buckets. Plus there was enough time left for the bucks to get 3 possessions vs 2 for the suns. Basically, both blocks made their respective teams win, but only Lebron’s also prevented them from losing.

      it's a great play, but Jordan's steal leading into "the shot" does it for me. For context, Stockton nails a 3 with about 45 seconds left and puts the Jazz up 3. MJ gets the inbound and immediately scores with 37 seconds left on the clock. Jazz take their time, kick it to Malone, Jordan rips it with something like 15 seconds left and they're still down 1. He dribbles it up, crosses over and nails the game winner. Jordan actually called out this defensive play in advance too. I think this just gets overlooked because it was sandwiched between 2 amazing offensive plays in the most rapid fire clutch way ever.

The defensive stop by tayshaun prince epitomize the detroit pistons and there track record of kind of team they are during the era of basketball during the 80s and the bad boys. LeBron's block is the biggest defensive play in NBA history when you factor in degree of difficulty and leverage (closing minutes of game 7 of the Finals). Giannis' block is one of the hardest plays to replicate (harder than a chase down; for reference, Giannis had an athletic chase down block earlier in the series), and the fact that it happened in the closing minutes of the Finals doesn't hurt its legacy, either. But it's still Bron 1, Giannis 2.

      Respectfully disagree. Building in the context of LBJs block: game 7, coming back from 3-1, full court chase down on a 2 on 1 layup. Not to mention you just could just feel that the whoever scored next was going to win the game. In my opinion it’s not splitting hairs, LBJ’s block is for my money the greatest defensive play ever and it’s not close.

    • @mrmacross
      @mrmacross Год назад +5

      @@stevenrichardson8355 Bron's block was better due to the circumstances and should be ranked #1, but Giannis' block is harder to replicate which is why you rarely ever see a guy smoothly transition from defending the PnR to blocking an alleyoop block. I give it to LeBron, but out of sheer degree of difficulty Giannis' is pretty special.

      @@mrmacross again I have to respectfully disagree. LBJ block imo is harder to replicate. Like RJ said even a split second late and it’s a goal tend. Also, not only did LBJ have to sprint nearly full court, the fact that he was able to take into account that iggy was going to double pump the layup is just insane. I think if you gave Giannis 10 tries to get his block, he would be able a few times. Idk if LBJ would be able to replicate his block if he tried a 100 times.
