Thank you very much for the video! I just did it. Never thought I'd be able to. Took me a bit longer than five minutes, more like 20, which is quite an accomplishment for a guy who can barely change a light bulb!
Thank you. So grateful for this video. I thought I was going to have to buy a new vacuum. One of the metal piece broke off the plug. I watched the video and It's as easy as it looks in the video. Much appreciated
Thank you! I had a prong break off my cord today. As with another commenter, I couldn't identify the correct one on Amazon, so I went to a nearby hardware store where I found the exact plug. 20 minutes after getting home my vacuum was up and running.
Big thanks! My wife wanted to throw out our 10 year old dyson. After seeing this video I opted to fix the plug instead and now it works like new. This was a big help to prevent a perfectly good vacuum from going to the landfill. Cheers
Thank you I never seen anything like this an was in a situation mine bro from the plug an was about to go get a new vacuum into I sen this now im going to try it out
Hi thank you for your video. I have a question. I went to amazon thinking I'd find one leviton double prong plug but there are a ton of different ones. How do I know which one I need...the technical info is all over the place. I have a rainbow e series vac. I just figured 125 watt plug but oh my gosh. I'm a sr. Lady so I'm trying to do this simple fix and not pay $125 and have to wait 2 weeks! Thank you for your help.
Thank you I just did it I didn’t have a wire stripper but I made it work with a exato knife a wire cutter and of course a screw driver 😂it was all good
This is exactly what I was looking for! I found a Leviton plug that looks the same--it is labeled "Leviton Residential Thermoplastic Straight Blade Plug 1-15P 20-16 AWG 2 Pole 2 Wire." Does that sound like the right replacement plug for a polarized nema 1-15? Thanks!
Thanks! I picked up a Miele that was being discarded because of the plug--someone had pulled it out by the wire instead of gripping the plug - - so I'm hoping this will solve the problem and I'll have a free vacuum 😊
So I followed the instructions (I've replaced many plugs on lamps before) and my vacuum worked great--for about 3 minutes--and then it just stopped working. I'm wondering if something shorted out?
Hi e series rsinbow vac again uses up to 10.8 amp w motorized hose so shoukd i get 15 amp levitron 2 prong plug? Snd whats dif between polized plug vs non polorized? Which do i need?
My vacuum plug broke. Plug has 2A. I placed a Leviton 15A replacement and this caused several breakers to flip. Is plug pulling too many amps and reason for flip?
The plug itself doesn’t draw amperage the vacuum does (typically vacs draw 10-12 amps). I’m not an electrician so I could be wrong about this but if your breaker is tripping you may be over the amp limit or perhaps you have a GFI and it’s tripping. I would verify that your wires are not touching each other inside the plug. Outside of that I’m not exactly sure what is causing your issue.
Thank you!! Worked perfectly for me and I feel empowered when I can fix something like this. Thanks again.
Thank you so much! This video is clear, concise, and helped me put on a new plug and fix our really great massager!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
Thank you so much! Just what I needed, as the plug I bought didn't come with instructions.
Much appreciated, totally clear instructions that made it easy to fix a plug that has been broken for months.

Definitely doing this. I’ve thrown out vacuums from the chord breaking. Thank you

Thank you, I just fixed my Shark vacuum. Yay!
Thank you! So very appreciated!
Excellent video you made it super 👌 easy
Hi, thank you for you help. I do have a quick question. When doing this on a large shop vacuum, what tye and amp is recommend?
Check the sticker on the shop vac itself. If it’s over 20 amp draw you will need a higher amp rated plug
so helpful, thank you1
Definitely helpful thank you.
Awesome sir! Thanks so much.

15am will be fine. Get polarized.
The comments are more positive than my daily routine.😂
Thank you, helpful

Will this work for a tv aswell
Yes
What if there’s a third green cable? Is that grounding?
Yes. You can get a grounded plug in that case.
Thank you!
what if my plug has same gold color button but i have black n white wire, what to do?
Not sure I understand what you’re asking. Gold screw is hot wire (black), silver screw is neutral (white).
I did exactly and still my vacuum doesn’t turn on , can someone tell me what else I can do?
You’ll have to test each component individually. Check continuity on cord first, then switch, then motor.
@@richardsvacuumcenterthank you sir, now is working 🙏
I just bought an entire cord bc a prong broke. 🤦🏾♀️ Guess I need to exchange.
Thanks. I think i can do this.
Thanks!
Great
😊
American plugs are weird !!
