Tried it and it doesn’t work, in the video the leg controlling the head is lifted, in an actual role you can’t just move your head out like that, also the S grip is easy to take apart.
@@brassvulcher8207 yeah i mean good guys have the pressure on your head with their thigh so you're stuck to the mat, even when i've been able to escape and roll over the first attempt, sometimes you end up rolling all the way into exactly the same position because their knees and hips are so tight to you
Yep. The version I was taught involved grabbing the gi collar qith the arm that's under attack and using the free one to stuff one or both legs (if they decided to cross their feet). Not that I can confirm but the black belt I learned it from indicated it was one he learned from Helio Gracie at some point in the distant past. Have fun with the escape!
How do you get out, if the guy crosses his legs when applying the armbar? I use something similar too, but if they cross the legs I'll not be able to hook their leg with my leg.
@@unsungSwissHero Honestly that's one I've practiced and hit much less in live rolling but the principle is similar. As they're swinging their leg over you push it past your head which picks up the other leg. If you can't get both, even getting one is worth while. Also, apologies because I haven't been able to find a video to back it up. Good luck!
@@BrokenFistX what I meant is, if the person crosses the feet trapping your both arms inside their legs. So you have no free arm to pull the legs over. 🙂
Chewie, this works like a miracle from god. I escaped the armbar of “the enforcer” brown belt tonight 4x and by the second attempt he was going for it hard. Probably the most useful video I’ve seen yet on RUclips as far as live roll success.
I got submitted with armbars a lot the other day so I searched up escapes for armbars. I found this video and implemented the technique today and I didn't get submitted by any armbars today. Not a single one. I got submitted by chokes instead... but it did feel great that I could actually put into use what I learned. Thanks for the great video!
Chewy. I hope you see this. As mentioned before I am a white belt. This is my trick to survive an armbar. Since I have learned to recognize use the armbar is coming. On the side where it will happen I reach up and grab opponents lapel, keeping a slight bend in the arm. When they go to sit back, I tighten my grip and arm muscles. When most of my training partners sit back. They do t realize I flex my arm muscles. And the weight of their torso going back towards the floor actually pulls me up from the floor. And with a little well timed motion of getting to my knees. I can soon escape the armbar. I hope this helps other white belts who might read this.
Looks good, onlt been training bjj for about 6 weeks and getting caught in armbars alot so looking forward to giving this a go! Thanks for another great video!
I’m 5’4 130 that’s all I’m doing is surving... I been training one month n I got a sweep from guard on a 2 stripe white n I felt like I won the olympics he swept me from mount about 20 seconds later but hey
2nd class today and I love it ! Definitely a workout you’re not used too but I recommend this to everyone I regret starting now that I’m 19 and not younger
Chew this is one of the best channels on RUclips for BJJ. I'm starting next week and I'm trying to soak everything up. It's like drinking from a fire hose. Biggest thing I've gleaned is that white belt is about learning to survive. I must relax and breathe and not strain for every position. I cannot wait to train.
frannelk I think he is going the wrong way, I think you are supposed to take the foot off your neck and get it behind your head and walk away from the (still parallel to them). In practice you really can’t pass 2 feet, they aren’t going to just let you walk under their feet, so trapping their top foot locked behind your head you would only have to pass one foot.
I am a 1 month White belt. armbars get locked onto me a lot. But i've been able to escape most of them because of this video. The ones i don't escape are the times my technique is too spazzy. hah great video!

THANK YOU!! Our 12 yr old did this move tonight in class and the kid who she was on the mat with was very shocked! 4 times she got out but one she didn't! now we work on that triangle escape! thank you again.
Does this escape work if the right leg's foot is under the shoulder? I have seen Armbars where only the left leg is a cross the head while the right foot is under the shoulder. For instance, in this video, if Chewie's right leg is under Mr. Aly's shoulder right shoulder. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you for your time.
Me and my brother have experimented with this escape because we love to escape subs i saw this when Roger used it against Buchecha and Dean vs Xande at Metamoris started to use back in 2012 till today
Old but Gold. May I ask though please, what if in the scenario the opponent top player has there bottom leg hooked into your ribs instead of over the torso? This wedge prevents the action of turning? Thanks 😊
His voice sounds like he’ll submit you.
Guys with a voice like that have a 10/10 chance to make you submit

Really great insight around admitting to yourself the arm is lost and moving on to the next best option.

I should've refreshed myself with this. Amazing 👏 and simple.
I'm gonna practice this next time I roll. I'm wicked new but the more I roll and get tapped, the more I can direct my focus to build my defense .

Subscribed to his Instagram and English RUclips. Thanks for always showing me new stuff chewy
I love this escape. Im a white belt and get out of armbars a lot thanks to this
