The Deltic..... Just the sound of it takes me back to my youth in the seventies. Saving up my pocket money from my paper round (do they even have paperboys/girls these days?) and buying a return ticket from Bristol Temple Meads to Paddington. Then taking the tube to Kings Cross and spending a couple of hours on the platform getting the numbers of these magnificent beasts before they disappeared into the tunnels... Brilliant days for spotting back in the seventies and then across to Willesden as well as Stratford...... Thank you so much for braving the weather to bring this wonderful video... And all the other brilliant films that you do for all of us railway enthusiast's to view, you certainly travel a few miles throughout the year to bring us all such joy.... Many thanks indeed.
Thanks Nigel - Grateful for the kind words. I was completely soaked yesterday but it was well worth it after a change of clothes and a warm up in the car on the way home 🙏👍
@@trainsplanes You are more than welcome my friend... You honestly do some brilliant footage of some excellent movement's up and down the lengths and breadths of Britain's railway network.... Back in the seventies, if I didn't have the money, I'd either get on my push bike 🚲 and cycle to a place called Westerleigh Junction near to where I live or my Dad would kindly take me in the car and take me to Temple Meads and spend a few hours on platform 12, which was the nearest platform to view the movements at Bath Road sheds which were opposite the platform and also the stabled locos. But trying to get the numbers of the locos stabled down the back of the sheds was an Impossible task. I remember hearing the various accents from various spotters from around the country just visiting Bristol to see the Westerns, Hymeks and Warships...... Happy days indeed.
I'm in the midst of organizing 'The Deltic Seasider' tour Scarborough - Blackpool and return at easter. Cannot wait to finalize. Will let you all know when confirmed 👍
@@andyD5185 There's some good footage somewhere on RUclips of Royal Scots Grey shunting aluminium ore trucks up at Lynemouth in 2011 for the old Alcan works, seem to recall that was on one engine too........
Beautifully tuned and maintained Deltic. Hardly any smoke unlike other diesel’s. A joy to see. 🎉🎉
What a sound! ❤
A recall seeing these locos on the ECML for many years. They were iconic and it's a credit to all those people who preserved the ones that are left.
Great vid , cant say the same about the weather
💯 That was a rank day 🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️
The Royal Highland Fusilier with the Regimental cap badge. My old Battalion, love it.
That Deltic looks in superb condition, all credit to the people who look after it.
The Deltic - what a noble and handsome machine it is.
Great video of a fantastic loco. I nearly went to GCR that day, when I saw 55019 was out.
Brilliant video 👍👍👍👍

I can rember these monsters running on main line duty in my early years fantastic beasts at full power
The Deltic start up sounds like a spin dryer full of spanners! A great loco though!

Great looking Deltics one the great desil loci of all time . Regards mark
Excellent video as always 👍
Fantastic footage as always, that Deltic looks wounderful, I hope you brought a good rain coat it looked like it was hamering it down.
The rain coat didn’t last long - Thoroughly soaked after 5-10 mins but well worth it to see the Deltic 👍
@@trainsplanes The chance to see a Deltic is always worth it, whatever the weather 😀
Amazing Video Nice Shot Off The Deltic 👏
now thats what you call british engineering! nothing beast the raw power and sound of a class 55 Deltic! easily my favorite diesel locomotive
Beatiuful video ,greetings 🚂👍👋
Superb video and loco😊
Great camera work as usual
Was Tornado in steam
Yes - In steam and boiler test passed. Some test runs next week hopefully 🤞👍
@@trainsplanesdo you have any timings?
Great video, shame they only started one of the Deltic's engine's.
Guess you only needed 1650hp for a bit of shunting lol.
The heaviest load I had yesterday was 192 tones, and on a pretty much flat railway, 1 engine is more than enough.
@@andyD5185 There's some good footage somewhere on RUclips of Royal Scots Grey shunting aluminium ore trucks up at Lynemouth in 2011 for the old Alcan works, seem to recall that was on one engine too........
Didn’t realise Deltics could move on one engine
They commonly do on preserved lines to save fuel. They have about 1600hp on one engine, which is normally quite enough
I Went there yesterday.
Have you seen the Scotrail HST At Brush?
I was planning on taking a look but I was soaked so change of clothes needed by then 🤯🙈
@@trainsplanes Ok
Signalling guy needs a brightly coloured pingpong bat or something? That's almost rainforest lighting conditions
looks like it's running on only one of its engines ?
That’s usual for heritage line use 👍
Where is that ?
It’s the Great Central Railway at Loughborough 👍
How did you know when it was running?
Great Central railway mentioned it on Facebook
@@KarlLyons-n9h Oh ok
I always notice the deltic only run on one engine only why is that anybody who may be able to enlighten me would be greatly appreciated
