**psst** Are you enjoying Scam School? You've gotta check out our *brand-new series* "The Modern Rogue" at ruclips.net/user/modernrogue. If you've seen it, reply and tell me what you think. If not, then get on over there. I'll bet you a dollar you love it. -Brian
Seems like it'd be better to write your prediction in the centre of your napkin, so when you switch the orientation, it doesn't feel like it's either at the 'top' or 'bottom'.
The Mneumonic for memorozing this 6 months from now without practice is to remember If they go outter, you DON'T go Counter. If they go middle, think Clockwise.. If it seems non catchy, just remember that Outter Counter would be a rhyme and this is the opposite of rhyming. I can use OXO, OXX .....O (centered) as back up plan.
Brian, on the animation while you're explaining the trick, the first set of arrows are backwards, you say clockwise but they point counterclockwise lol
Always placing your X clockwise or counterclockwise doesn't work, but you can still force the game if you remember the oxo/oxx/xox pattern. Imagine the numpad on your keyboard being the boxes: You go 5, your opponent 1. By the rule, you now go 4, forcing him to circle 6. By the rule, you now have to check 7 - ending the game, as your opponent can't win anymore and will just randomly circle any box, breaking up your pattern. You just have to keep the pattern in mind and practice forcing it.
1:35 If O does not go in the corner, X will win. X celebrates it's victory and does not flip the napkin. If O does go in the corner, X can force every move from O.
The demonstration animation at 4:10 is backwards. Brian says that, "If they play in a corner, you play in the square clockwise to it." Yet, the animation instructs a COUNTER clockwise play. The next animation matches up. He says "If they play in the center spots, then you play counterclockwise," and then the animation demonstrates a counter clockwise movement. But the first animation made me screw up the trick. They should fix it.
there is some thing wrong from 4:04 to 4:16 the arrow in the figure say counter clock wise and you are saying clock wise the figure show only counter clockwise move on both situations
A few days ago i realised brian brushwood used to work at my camp. it was a weird story, the new magic teacher said that some of the stuff in the building wasn't his. they were from past teachers like clint w. grey, brian brushwood. and then my mouth dropped.

4:09 - u said that if opponent checks at the corner, we play in the square clockwise but the instruction panel on the right side does it inversely ^^.
if you play in any corner for the first move, and your opponents first move is not the center, you can guaranteed force a win by making 2 in a row where you opponent is forced to block you, BUT, you ensure that by blocking you, they don't get a 2 in a row so you have to block them with your next move. you will guaranteed get 2 in a in row in two places with your third move. the key is the classic 3 corners so you get the middle and a middle edge for you moves to win on your third move. this works no matter where they place it so long as its not the middle. i won't guarantee that if they get 2 in a row you can't win, because you can in some cases, but to guarantee it no matter what, that is the rule to follow. if you take a corner, and they take another corner, you should be able to take either corner and force a win, since even if they get 2 in a row by corner and middle, you block them and have 3 corners, and 2 ways of winning. by picking the other corner, they do't have 2 in a row, you take the remaining corner for middle and a middle edge to win. if you take a corner and they take a middle edge, you just take a corner where by blocking your winning move, they don't have a 2 in a row option that you must block. then you take the corner which gives you 2 winning moves. if you take bottom left, and they take middle left, right above you. you must take bottom right for this to work. if you take top left, they already blocked you and have a free move, if you take top right, they block you for a 3 in a row and you have to take middle right, meaning its cats game now. if they take a middle section away from your piece, say bottom left is your move, and they take top middle or right middle, you still have only one corner where they don't have 2 in a row by blocking you, while you create a winning move they have to block. with a little logic, its easy to do. if they take middle, you cant guarantee a win. no matter what move you take, they either get a free move, or by blocking you, get a 2 in a row you have to block. you only real hope is to pick the opposite corner, and hope they pick one of the 2 remaining corners to force a win for you.
Sorry to say this, but i tried it with my brother(i followed the rules)and it didn't work out 2 times. For example,at 6:07,what move was that(I tell you,a shitty one)?Nobody would place the o in that corner,if he/she wants to avoid the three x at the center. If the opponent makes just one wierd move, the rules are screwed. It"s easy to make the replication of the pre-drawn game, but not with these rules. All in all,I LOVE your videos.Keep them coming.
This trick was performed on Penn & Teller Fool Us and it didn't fool them... which means Penn or Teller is a huge fan of yours and they watch all your videos.
It will not always be same configuration i.e.(oxo , oxx ,xox) in the beginning there will be blank boxes so i will represent blank boxes with B. set of moves with satisfying the rules which you said first move is top right corner{ (B,B,O), (B,X,X), (B,B,B)}. second move is obviously middle row left center {(B,B,O),(O,X,X),(X,B,B)} third move is bottom right corner {(B,B,O),(O,X,X),(X,X,O)} this move itself proves that above configuration dose not work.i can't explain more due to character limit
I like this one. It's one of the simplest ones I've seen. I can't wait to do a bunch of these making dollar bets and just get rich, or at least make enough to buy some guitar strings or something
that's the exact same result that they kept playing in the video. just rotate the paper to match. if the person that goes first puts an x in the center and follows the rules, and the second player is trying to win, it always ends up exactly like that, allowing for rotation of the entire game
It doesn't always work. I made a program that does the trick as explained here and it doesn't always work. For example if they only use the corner, what do you get? Or left-upper corner, right-lower corner, middle-upper square, and middle-lower square.

Interestingly enough, I know mind games that'll drastically increase my chances of beating you. Rules: I will to take my move in two seconds or less We play the game
Well, the SFX crew sucked for that. When Brian said to go clockwise at 4:14, the arrows pointed anti-clockwise when he said clockwise. But wait, the same goes for the other demo, when the arrows pointed clockwise when told otherwise. Really makes you notice this sort of stuff, doesn't it?
"If they play in a corner, play clockwise to it" (so if they go in the upper left corner, play below that)... THAT ISN'T CLOCKWISE. Clock hands move left to right, not right to left! He's demonstrating it to the people correctly on the pad, but the graphics overlay is backwards!
If I knew how to make ASCII pics I would because Tic Tack Toe is easily winnable every time and would prove it. The key is is you never start with the middle box.
At 1:03-1:04, when you had both placed three markings, or whatever it is called, you should have placed the X in the bottom middle: O -- O O X X X X -- Then you would have won.
yeah i was really confused for a sec when i watched the animations.lol. I was like wasn't it telling me to move it to the next spot over in the same direction for both moves ?

What i'm i see wrong b/c to me the thing says in the corner to clockwise which it does and then says if they play in the middle go counter clockwise but both times it goes left to right.

When it says corner is clockwise the diagram shows counterclockwise.
Ian Hamilton IKR what one do you do?
You do as Brian told, not the diagram. I think it was just an editing mistake.
The guy was so interested but the girl had the worst face on.
Lol, the little animated tick tack toe thing went counter clockwise.
Seems like it'd be better to write your prediction in the centre of your napkin, so when you switch the orientation, it doesn't feel like it's either at the 'top' or 'bottom'.
VictorUnNettoyeur smart!
It's been 10 years I remember when I got an ipod touch gen 3 and iTunes barely had any podcasts and watched scam school for the 1st time
"Question! Who wants to be the performer and who gets to be the sucker?"
"Em, I will perform and you can... *cough*"
did you know, that you got you clockwise and counterclockwise mixed up?
It's weird because when he was explaining it to them, he had it right. But the on screen one was wrong.

+shukakura937 editing error! kills me that it still isn't fixed.
Scam School, the only show dedicated to social engineering at the bar and on the street - ALWAYS THE SAME ! :D
"you have to play clockwise" and the thing goes counterclock wise lol

YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
3:27 "Carter Condemned To Death For Witchcraft. Cheats The Gallows". WTF lol
He got his last name from his haircut.
@5:16; you could of won by going into the corner. Regardless of how it is blocked, you will win
Yeah, but he was trying to get the prediction, not win the game
Always placing your X clockwise or counterclockwise doesn't work, but you can still force the game if you remember the oxo/oxx/xox pattern.

When he said to go clockwise he went counterclockwise but when he said to go counterclockwise he also went counterclockwise
i laughed out loud when he said "OX OH OX ZOCKS"

You have both visual demonstrations showing counter clock wise, when starting at the corner as you stated, goes clock wise.

wining at tic tac toe will definitely blow the socks off the place.
06:05 you had loads of chances to win. if I did this, my friends would think I'm an idiot
What if they're playing to loose?
maybe instead they will play to lose
A masterpiece of mentalism if performed well. Thanks Brian.
It's cool that Nirvana was being played in the background! Cool trick as well!

Both the clips were counter clockwise lol
the diagram notation should indicate clockwise when necessary not everything counterclockwise.
I remember watching this a long time ago. I'm pretty sure this is the episode I subscribed. After watching a couple vids
I’ll just remember it as clockwise corners and anti-clockwise across,
OXO
OXX
XOX
Is just something else I must remember

honey, you just have to turn it clockwise lol

haha, a commercial for the scam school show popped up on an actual video by scam school
scam school is the best but he is always at the bar
Thats the point
He is addicted to beer
I made a war game using tic tac toe and expanding the grid of the game :). It's pretty fun.

"If they play in a corner, play clockwise to it" (so if they go in the upper left corner, play below that)...

you can break the tic tac toe thing by going, for example, top left then bottom right.
but than that person would lose
If I knew how to make ASCII pics I would because Tic Tack Toe is easily winnable every time and would prove it. The key is is you never start with the middle box.
tic tac toe is not a forcable win, it's proven to always be a draw with optimal play
@boydilim i dont get how it doesn't work lol. try it again. when O is on the sides = counterclockwise, corners=clockwise
the sponsors sound much better with vuvuzela mode turned on.
How long does it take to do your hair? It looks like those spikes would be hard to form
+Declan 9 minutes: ruclips.net/video/arTvveslU0Q/видео.html
What if they want to start first??? And what if they put an x in corner or in the middle top side?
I don't really want to tie at tic-tac-toe though. I prefer to win.
everybody does

At 1:03-1:04, when you had both placed three markings, or whatever it is called, you should have placed the X in the bottom middle:
O -- O
O X X
X X --
Then you would have won.
The animation for when they show the opponent playing in a corner is wrong, its saying clockwise, but the picture is actually counter-clockwise.
yeah i was really confused for a sec when i watched the animations.lol. I was like wasn't it telling me to move it to the next spot over in the same direction for both moves ?
LOL I actually figured this strategy out myself in like 5th grade when i had too much time on my hands, never knew this was a real strategy.
6:17 he didnt realize he could have won..
No h8, but if someone marks a side, why would i go counter clockwise if i can just win in that moment?
The bet is he predicts the game. Not win the game.
6:59 LOL
That's a shit tonne of spare time you've got there...
