- DC-3 "Congo Queen" now flying under american registration N41CQ. After four years on the ground she is now up in the air again. Located in Sweden at Vallentuna Airfield. What a Beautiful bird! Filmed at Vallentuna and Hässlö may 2018.
First class aviation cinematography. I was three months old on my first DC-3 flight, not that I remember, but my love affair with classic planes started then and continues to this day. Jet travel is convenient but a flight on an old bird is always a treat. Nothing beats the music of the radials.
There is nothing equal to the classic DC-3 and there is no end to the joy of watching it in action! Thanks for the video.
Exactly what I was thinking 👍
The DC 3, the Boeing 727 and the A10 are the most beautiful planes everrrrr !!!!!!

That unmistakable sound. Reminds me of Summer. When I was a kid Provincetown Airways flew DC-3s from Boston Logan Airport to Cape Cod. They flew low over our beach...didn't even have to look up to know it was a DC-3. Awesome airplane. Great video. Thank you!
Hi from Canada. I flew on a DC-3 back in the mid 70's with Trans North Turbo Air from Whitehorse to Inuvik above the Arctic Circle with stops at Dawson and Old Crow, great flight. Nice to see the Seabee at the start of the video. My Dad had 2 of them in the 50's and 60's.
They were still in use in Northern Quebec in the 80s.
I love the sound of this airplane. I live near an airport where one of these old timers are stationed. Every once in a while it flies by, and I really enjoy that.
after 80 years she still can run smooth,
and graceful gliding
Stunning condition and flight control of that Douglas Commercial 3; a very reliable passenger and military aircraft. The woodsy trees and color scheme of the DC-3 were extra-sweet eye candy. Godspeed.
I'll back here 2025 to listen that engine sound ❤
My Dad & Brother's crewed left seat on scheduled routes in these. Flew a UAL DC-3 in the early 1960's. Loved how the class of water on my tray vibrated.
Joyous. Had the privilege of flying low level in 'Drag 'em oot' last summer. Will never forget it. Keep these excellent aircraft flying!!
Still a useful workhorse after all those years… amazing!
Nothing more exquisite than a DC-3.
Very nicely shot clip....Great to hear the Radial Music too...!
Ohhhh.... those radial sounds...
Beautiful plane and a graceful slow flyer. Love the sound of the engines.
That is one beautiful bird.
Keep Em Flying...
I miss flying this smooth and beautiful bird.
Fantastic film , Wonderful DC3
Thank you for sharing🎅🙋
RADIAL ENGINES SOUND MELODIE !! FROM BRASIL.
Congratulations!! This is a fantastic and beatiful plane!!
Good job!!
At the age of 17 I experienced my last flight from Gemena to Kinshasa. 1200 km across the jungle of Congo. With a Douglas DC-3. It was magic. A nice farewell to an unforgettable time and youth. That was in the year 1980. They are calling the 747 "the queen of the skies." I think they got that wrong...
I love to see it! Nostalgic! Magnificent! Well done and thank you!
J'aime voir ça! Nostalgique! Magnifique! Bravo et Merci!
I looked up N41CQ and found ( Built in 1945 in Oklahoma City and delivered to US Army
Air Forces as 44-77113 ) it can still fly. Amazing.
Great info🙂👍
I love the cabin layout and colors on this one. If I can ever afford one I'd like to have a couple of the sleeper compartments on her as well.
Arguably the single greatest aircraft ever conceived.
Beautiful aircraft I wish you could have seen more of the Interior. It looks so beautiful. I love to see. The single rest room, and more of the quarters behind the flight deck because it's just so well preserved
Fine plane, fine livery. Just really nice.
Thank you!🙂
Shades of SK’s Viking longboat livery
Tack Fred! Ja väldigt mycket historia där :) mvh
I love this plane
Americas crown jewel of the air.
Outstanding aircraft and well preserved too. :o)
Gorgeous aircraft love the Dc3
Towards the fag end of my career in the Indian Air Force in 1983 I had an awesome experience of flying in a DC-3 aircraft from Gwalior to Kanpur and back to Gwalior ... though , unpressurized and noisy inside - compensated by the steady drone of those two radial piston engines .... sheer music to the ears.🤩
Such a beauty!
This most beautyfull airplane ever!!! I dream fly with those amazing machine.
Simply beautiful
UNO DE ÉSTOS, EN MINIATURA, ME REGALÓ MI PAPÁ CUANDO YO TENÍA 5 AÑOS... DESPUÉS, CUANDO TENIA 22 AÑOS, EN 1962, VOLÉ EN UNO DE ÉSTOS, DE VERDAD, ENTRE TEMUCO Y CONCEPCIÓN (CHILE).
Talk about a plane with personality !!!!
I had a short flight in one from Coventry airport, owned by Air Atlantique. Loved it.
Douglas DC3 NICE!!☺️
Good startup sounds at 3:45!
Legendary !
Love these planes
Cool Video !
This reminds me of the DC3 wreck at Solheimasandur, Iceland.
Next to the L10-11 and the DC-10 the DC-3 is the prettiest plane as far as I'm concerned. Ive heard stories where fans have booked flights on the DC-3, the booking agent asked where would you like to go? The response is, "I don't care, I just want to fly on the DC-3.
Gotta love them round engines...
These were called Dakota in India. The served for decades in the Indian Air Force and various airlines in the the 1950s and 1960s
Dakota, C47, DC3 Goony Bird and a few other names as well. A few different configuarations. This one was military, the drab green trim tells you that.
@@ldnwholesale8552 In fact, a Dakota carried troops into independent India's first battle in 1948. A Dakota is displayed in Delhi Airport to commemorate the plane's contribution to India's defence. The plane was even attributed with features which perhaps did not exist, like that it could also run on diesel and vegetable oil as fuel😀
DC 3C Dakota
She just keeps on flying. 87 years old and just getting started.
First DC3 video I have seen that the starter can be heard.
Alguém no Brasil 2020?
I have a whole lotta time in a C-47. Love the plane. Jim
Amazing plane I was on one for a short trip at Edinburgh took you up the river forth. What a experience. That plane takes the mail to all islands in the English Channel.sorry don’t know which model it was .but what a plane
great pics thanks
Arguably the best Aircraft ever built
Im sure the DC-4/C-47 holds the world record for an aircraft with the longest (and unbroken) service record. 👍
Engine Sound: Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp
Magnifique 👌
Always takes off and lands in the same direction, over the lake, regardless of wind.
Dak,best looking aircraft ever built.
I think the reason there are so many Douglas DC-3 aeroplanes left is because they fill very specific needs that modern aircraft have trouble filling. Not to mention, they are beautiful and rather prestigious.
There is a company in the US doing turboprop upgrades and they will reskin the entire plane and strengthen all internal materials. It seems that the original airfoil design was so perfect when it was built that it continues to be in high demand today. What is so amazing about the design is there were no computers capable of assimilating any kind of airflow surfaces, and it was all done by slide rules and highly talented Engineers and of course, modeling with wind tunnels.
I flew on a Dc3 in 1972 from San Juan to San Thomas , it was like driving a car in the sky, it had 3 passengers, can’t remember the name might be Eastern airline or a subcontractor..
Biggest RC model I've ever seen!
Heroicos ...feitos para durarem...

We inherited a few of these Dakotas from the Rhodesian colonial government in Zimbabwe, they served in the early 80s, could takeoff and land anywhere.
Under the circumstances of the take-over at the time, I think "seized" is a more correct term. But yes, the C-47 has proven itself to be an outstanding versatile aircraft. 👍
I thought this was going to be informative boy was I wrong but it’s a beautiful plane
With the olive drab cockpit, I wonder if this DC-3 is actually a converted C-47 Skytrain.
it is
Virtually all DC-3s still extant are converted C-47s, since about 600 DC-3s were built as opposed to over 10,000 C-47s.
@@wrightflyer7855 And I was to comment that I have flown in one DC-3. Opps time to check facts if it wasn't one C_47 then.
Internet archaeology done, it was indeed a C47 either of 13 built in the years of 1942 - 1944, or one of 2 that had been put together from parts from WW2 wrecks. (Yes that variety existed also in use.) But I were not able to pinpoint exactly which one. 3 remain, 2 in museums one kept in flying condition by some private enthusiasts.
Flew on one ozark airlines fort lost in the woods to Kansas City kansas I looked down and I think some of the cars on the freeway where going faster than us
Thank goodness they didn't destroy this beautiful bird by replacing it with turboprop engines. Nothing like the beautiful music of those piston engines !
I think the engines have been replaced.
Here in Brazil one DC-3 was destroyed in Rio last week after stay there without use and was only for visitation.. It is incredible , very sad .Every people involved with planes was furious but nobody take care about . The history went to garbage ,this is because we callled third World .
Beautiful old bird. Would love to fly one in northern Canada.
Go visit Buffalo Airways, they fly them daily.
@@ldnwholesale8552 The Weather Channel has a current series about Buffalo Airways.
Rocha.✈🛫✌
I have feeling that both pilots have their hands full flying that old girl!
Naaawww! It's just like dancing with your sweetheart on the dance floor: you instinctively hold her close, gently guide and listen to her - and so enjoying her company - and simply let her sway to the music!! 😊👍

00:05 really i love this drawing , it's beautiful , is it symbolize something specific ?
Muito lindo! Parabéns!
0:29 State of the art instrumentation. Probably beyond the state of the art in the 1930's.
Beautiful aircraft...
muito legal, motores redondinhos, parabéns
What a beauty! Seems so slow by modern standards -- not a criticism, just an observation.
Oh wow, how often do these fly? And are they still flying?
Perhaps I will be visiting to have a look at them :)
Encantada.💚💛🇧🇷
she looks beautiful in this "wild canary" colours ... but for god's sake, they should use flaps for take off, shouldn't ??
Reminds me of the 'Biggles' novels by Captain W E Johns
Are the engines original? They sound different. The original powerplants were Pratt & Whitney Twin Wasp radial piston engines.
Fin film på en fin kärra😊
Gosh, that takeoff towards low-slung power lines. I wouldn't like to have engine failure on takeoff.
I think it's just a camera distortion. The flight path parallels those power lines.
I notice the port engine turns over unusually fast before it fires up. Is the starter properly matched to the voltage on the port engine? I think DC3s run 24 volt systems. Is the starter possibly one rated at 12 volts?
Best way to find out is probably to stick your finger in it, turn it over, and find out? 🤣🤣🤣
I was thinking they could take a look at the placard or stamps on the starter casing, but if the finger technique you mentioned would work, that’s all the better!
@@MikeWMiami It'd certainly be more amusing and entertaining for those watching nearby!! 🤣👍
At 6:25 something fell off the plane...
Good call. I seen it.
yes.......
What is the purpose of the little chrome pipe for just above the engine oil cooler for?
I think it's purely a conversation piece to stimulate discussion and divert attention elsewhere - designed and installed - just to confuse and perplex eagle-eyed observers such as you and I!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Finally...
