- The 2018 Planes of Fame airshow had a nice variety of warbirds represented during the pacific theater flight demo!! Jason Somes flying the CAF's F8F Bearcat dropped in on Sunday on his way home from another airshow, joined the group and went on to put down some high power passes, as well as some nice acro to round off an amazing weekend.

The P38s sound so smooth
My favorite aircraft have always been those used in the Pacific by our Navy, Marine Corps and Army Air Corps during WW2. Just wonderful seeing them in the air and hearing those engines. Thanks for posting.
What a treat seeing two p38's flying together !
Flying examples must be incredibly rare
In the entire world there's probably only a handful
I would love the chance to fly ANY of these planes. The P-38 has one HELL of a cool sound to it and so do the other planes.
Great to see these planes still flying, and not just sitting in a museum somewhere. I come from a Grumman family (my dad worked for them), but damn, P-51s and P-38s are beautiful planes.
Some beautiful warbirds!
Thanks to the men and women who put these planes in the air to keep both the planes and the men who flew them forever in our minds. Thank You All!
The P-38 has to be the best looking plane in the bunch. Also flew like a dream 😁
So much history in one perfectly condensed video - thank you!
Fantastic video of our historic warbirds. Amazing that they are maintained and keep flying. Much thanks to all that keep them flying for all to see. Such beautiful pieces of history. Thanks for the video.
Outstanding video!! Thank you for sharing. Take care.
Fantastic! Love to see the old P38s!
My uncle flew P-38’s in the pacific theater in WWII. He was the inspiration for me being a Marine Corps F4 pilot in Vietnam. Just think of the massive firepower of a P38, 4 .50 Carl’s with a 20mm in the center. The great thing was that those guns were not aimed tor 600 feet like most
Very nice. Thanks for posting. That Bearcat can growl and scream through the sky.
Man! These planes are so awesome! I'm going to try to be at all these shows!
We are blessed that so many people have dedicated a part of themselves so. They brought this into being so we can experience history. Beautiful .
NICE VIDEO !!!!! One of if not the best video on You Tube of an airshow !!! The type and sub types labels are a really nice touch !!! Good job !!!
Beautiful music to my ears.
I'm digging that Bearcat...sharp looking, and it hustles.
This is a suberb footage, both visual and sound. Thank you for that! Wish I could fly one of those one day.
Great aircraft - thank you for letting us see this- wonderful sounds !
Absolutely wonderful! Great capture! Awesome sounds! Don't need music, the engines provide all that. Thanks for posting.
I love this kind of music. Music to my ears!!!
It is GREAT to see all these old birds flying! Thanks for the post!
Wow, that’s the first time I saw a Red Tail Tuskegee Airmen livery on a P-51D. I’ve previously seen a Red Tail P-51B before.
THANK YOU! This has GREAT audio of those engines. Sounds like the BEST of any I've heard. Great video!
Quality video ~ great job all-around! Thanks for sharing!
All of those beautiful aircraft bring tears to my eyes.

My father sometimes spoke of the air support missions overhead as a certain sound. I didn't always understand...but upon hearing these well tuned air frames, i think I gather what he was speaking of.
That Bearcat is just plain Badass!
Great video, The Planes of Fame airshow in Chino is such a great show. I haven’t missed one in 12 years, and I think you captured it perfectly. Thank you
I was at Chino '86. Got to meet Greg Boyington and George Gay.
OMG! Never in my wildest dreams would I have expected to see these planes flying again and well captured on film. Thank You.
Paul Dasen there is a spitfire and bf 109 at planes of fame if you would like to see it
What a beautiful display of so many fine planes of W W 2, many types and varieties. They sound and look so good, noble, striking, quite lovely on the wing, free and full of purpose.
Excellent video and sound!
That was awesome thank you to the planes of Fame Museum!
Very nice camera work, no music, no commentary, just beautiful engine sounds ..... fantastic ! Thank you.
I do believe I have died and gone to Heaven (tho I am sure it is a temporary placement). Great video, great sound, so many great planes. I know today's performers leave all of these in the dust, but the sight and sound is incomparable. Thanks so much.
Awesome, especially the F6F Hellcat! From it's best views, the Hellcat is one of the best looking WWII Airplanes! Combat proven, safe flying!
OMG what a collection!
Classic aircraft, classic flying and superb filming, what else can we ask for, this is just so great, thanks for sharing with all the fans out here, whether armchair or real pilots!
THANK GOD! For a perfect video. No music No commentator with an awful voice! Thankyou SO much!
Just great planes and there voices!!
Beautiful beautiful beautiful!
Great video. Would have like to have seen a Corsair in there. In my opinion the best looking warbird in the Pacific theater.
Excellent, radial feast! Thank you.
The best engine though was the incomparable British Rolls Royce Merlin engine
I wish I were there. What a GREAT display!!
Beautiful planes
Dang love those P-38's!!!
So sweet to see & hear. Thanks for this - Nice Video.
The F8F Bearcat sounds almost like the Brittish Hawker Sea Fury. But if I'm not mistaking, it never saw combat during the WW2. The production started at 1944, when the war ended in 1945 and only little over 1200 was ever made.
sanakassara You are correct, the Bearcat never saw combat in WW2, there was a carrier full of them steaming towards Japan to fight but Japan surrendered so that ended their WW2 debut. They did see some combat in the French Indochina war though.
Damn do I love those Bearcats!
They are a speedy beast, no?
Perfect! Thanks for sharing!
That was an awesome video.
Thank God there are people willing (and able) to preserve these old beauties. that is a big and expensive undertaking.
Brilliant! Engines provide all the needed music; thanks for letting us hear it. Good stuff.
Ah...Chino airport!!! I LOVE IT THERE!!! And...if anyone old enough to remember the TV show "12 O'Clock High"...they filmed it there, and the sets are STILL THERE!!!!
I remember that show. My dad and I loved to watch it together. Love you daddy.
Great Show!
P 38 aircraft model! A very good war machine! I 'd be proud to pilot one of them!
Thanks. Great Video and Planes.
Love Love, Love Warbirds.
The p-38 Lightning and all the fighters of world war 2 are my favorite planes
So that includes the Hurricane, Mosquito, Spitfire, Boomerang, i-16, La-9, Beaufighter, or just that American crap?
Forked tail devil 😈
MY FAVES TOO !
BEAUTIFUL BIRDS OF FLIGHT.
Everybody wanna see the 109
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing, and greets from the Netherlands!
Awesome! Great to see history in the air!
I felt like that I am watching the airshow at home.Beautiful warplanes.
Stunningly beautiful
This is pretty cool. Although there are some planes missing, such as the CORSAIR. I actually saw one at a airshow, beautiful plane. Also I believe the P47 Thunderbolt was eventually in the Pacific.
Amazing sight! ...and sound!!
ow my God! i love this
GREAT video. Thank you.
That Bearcat was our answer in compact design to the Nakajima Ki-44 Shoki (Tojo) except it was a carrier plane . . . and a lot better.
That was great camera work !
Nice plane must be at the Chino Air Show! I been there only once it was great to see them fly!
The p-38, p-40, and p-51 really made their names in Europe as well.
Stephan; The P40 was a second stringer not a main player in Europe
Love the Tuskegee job on the 51🤘😎🤘
Great paint. Except Tuskegee airmen didn't serve in the pacific.
I kept reading and hearing that the lightnings were quieter due to the turbo-superchargers, but this video really puts it into prospective. You can really hear those turbos sing though!
Splendid. What a visual feast.
What beautiful aircraft.
Beautiful!
Great video, exceptionally done
Great video. Thank you so much for sharing it .. :)
Super video & great audio. Thank s to all who worked in getting these warbirds in the air
hell ya!
great vid!!! awesome birds!
P38 lightning, just perfect
I love the sound of those reciprocating piston engines! It’s nostalgic! 🇺🇸👍.
The P-38’s Allison engines sound quieter.
Flak Jack Ed Same Engine as the P-40 but in the P-38 it was combined with turbochargers. Thus, the exhaust noise is much quieter.
Thorsten_Küppers , I get it now. Thanks! 👍
would have been cool to see them all in a formation the roar always gives me bumps thx for posting
They were in formation during the show
Lots of PW-powered birds in the Pacific Theater! They sound beautiful.
I love the sound of inline engines! The mustangs, p-40’s and the p-38’s sound amazing!
Respectfully .... Mustangs, P-40 and P-38 were NOT equipped with *INLINE* engines, Their engines were V-12 as in Vee
Patria Nostra My mistake I thought that all engines that were not radials were inlines. Non the less the “v-12” engines from that era sounded the best! The design with the enclosed engine and nose cone makes them look a lot faster than the open cowling design. For example the only plane in the Luftwaffe with an open cowling radial engine was the Focke Wolfe 190, and Japan’s airforce consisted of all radial engine engine fighters and bombers.
Just one word: AWESOME!!!
All beautiful aircraft. Been to many air shows on the East Coast and never see the P-38 my husband's favorite. Perhaps someday we can get to an air show in Chino, CA.
Great video, great Planes Of Fame Team I mean that!
Way too cool! thank you
Heavy metal thunder at Chino. Awesome!
Brings back memories
oh man, i love the bearcat
Craigslist model A Ford cars
P40 warhawk
Right..
Japan had no chance.
It's like a Sports Car for the air.
Japan messed with the bull and they got the horns!
those lightnings are so quiet compared to the other planes
The P-38 is so quiet compared to the F8F... Thanks for sharing!
Back2RL that is what the TURBO does, acts like a muffler !!!
Whistling death
F85
@@petionville9359 Corsair
jack tattis that’s right but their whistling didn’t come from turbochargers
what a beautiful shots
An eye and ear delight for all aircraft fans ****
Radial engine warplanes got to be my favourite
Love this!!!
Brilliant!! I,m Not American. . .BUT GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! . . Some tremendous `Nuts n Bolts there!!
AWSOME VIDEO, GUYS!!!!!!!!
Excellent video and thank you for posting it!
