Over 50,000 Canadians fought in Vietnam, and these people volunteered to fight, not to drive trucks! I was in the Canadian army in the eighties and some of my officers were Vietnam combat veterans, so we learned correct! ✊🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thank you, Larry for introducing us to these soldiers. It means a lot to some of us.
Thank you Robert for understanding my work. I appreciate you watching and your comment. I invite you to check out my new radio station. Voices of History Radio® (KVOH) larrycappetto.com
My heart breaks for our two great nations. I’ve lived a long life. I knew and respected these men. They were my coaches, teachers,
Principals…. They came back from WE2, Korea, Vietnam and in humble, love of country made our countries and this world a better place. I want to cry, scream and yell at the current leadership and populations of our nations. We have forgotten that freedom and security are not free and we are rapidly dismantling the freedoms we once fought for.
POWERFUL comment, Bret. One of my best. Thank you for giving a damn. larrycappetto.com
Thank you James for your service you didn’t have to serve in this war but damn glad you did
Well said Kenneth!!
RIP James, thank you for your service to our Republic 🇺🇸 It was an honor and privilege to co-sponsor your story. Joseph Shellhaas
This is the first time I have heard that Canada was fighting with the USA and that there was that many. Awesome interview. I salute and thank Jim Donaldson for him noble service.
Donna, most people don't know that the Canadians fought down here while others went up there to escape the war. These are unsung heroes, these stories from these Canadians. I have many such stories in my archives. That's why I went to Canada and produced a full feature film in 2007. To give honor to those whom honor is due in Canada 🇨🇦 Here is one of my favorite interviews I did in Canada about my work with Canadian War Veterans. ruclips.net/video/TZEZFvlhqGQ/видео.html
Canadians have a long history of being dependable US allies, but for SSGT Donaldson to JOIN the US Army & volunteer to fight in Vietnam, thank you will never be enough. God rest his soul. FINALLY, Vietnam Vets are being heard & receiving the respect they have ALWAYS deserved. 🇺🇸
Could I interest you in sponsoring some of my Canadian stories?
@@VoicesofHistory Absolutely! I will choose a vet. I've checked out the link to do so. I tell you...I've had a rough day. I'm a 41 year old working mom of 3. Some stressful situations haven't gone my way today. HOWEVER, I'm the luckiest woman to be sitting safely in America. Nothing is THAT bad. Your channel is an inspiration to me to keep going. Thank you SO much for your work. I have learned so much about Vietnam. I am grateful. It is so important. 🇺🇸 ❤️ 🙏
Ty brother welcome home
Bless our boys 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
What a sweet, courageous man.❤
Thank you to our Northern Brothers and Sisters. When I was a 1Sgt in Korea there was a young female Canadian soldier in my unit. Thank you, Ssgt Donaldson, for your salute and your service. You can rest in peace, for your brothers and sisters are carrying on your dedication and devotion.
Bradford, thank you for your kind words about this amazing story from my archives. I have so many of them to share like this. I want to give honor to our Canadian veterans also. I'd like to hear more about your service in Korea sometime. Please feel free to reach out. Thank you. Larry Cappetto - EMAIL: lcappetto@icloud.com

Well said Henry, and, WELCOME HOME!!!
Thanks Jim for your story. You're a man's man .
I think this man would be very upset if he was alive to see what has become of Canada and the US…. Great interview 🤠👍
Most of my Veterans are upset and rolling over in their graves. As I have said many times, "We are fighting for the same freedoms today in our own country that our Veterans fought for on foreign soil.”
That’s for sure we have been infiltrated by evil… keep up the good work🤠👍
It's unbelievable, all these guy's are absolutely heroes! I love all the fighting men and women in Vietnam! Much much respect!
Thank you for watching my story with Jim Donaldson.
Thank you brother for coming to the fight with our Ameri an Soldiers and keeping both our countries free. 🙏

Thank you ssgt jim Donaldson and may you rest in peace! Hero!
His pictures of Combat are stunning...thank you, Sir!
Thank you. Please check out my other Canadian stories.
It's sad that are losing our veterans from this war from age.
Thank for your incredible work we thank you my family thanks you this is o e awesome Canadian
Thanks for helping America......Canadians are our True Friends
Amen Mark.
I understand the soldiers philosophy. If it wasn't me it would be someone else. The soldier that comes home is a humble soldier who fought for freedom for their country and their mates. Thankyou.
AMEN Jason!!!
I believe 134 Canadians died in the Viet Nam war.
My hat's off to the Canadians for some other things, too, we Americans should never forget:
1) Sheltering US embassy staff after the Iranian takeover.
2) Giving free private lodging to all the airline passengers who had been forcibly grounded in Canada after 9/11.
3) Oh, yeah, and a little thing called Juno Beach. Canadians were the only unit of the entire Allied invasion to reach its final, assigned objective on the Normandy invasion.

Thank you, SSGT. James Cricket Donaldson, Vietnam, 1st Infantry Div.! Thank you, Mr Larry Cappetto! Great job, Larry! The Salutes touch our souls!
Great Job giving Canadians Due....Means alot and did not know that many served for the U.S. For the war.another great interview .
Chris I have many Canadian stories in my archives. Glad you're watching them.
I met a Canadian Vietnam Vet in the late 70’s. Although it didn’t mean much to me then, it always stuck with me. Now that I’m almost 60 myself, it means a lot and has puzzled me as to why our boys would head Stateside to help fight a war that at the end of the day and lack of better words, meant nothing. All the while the US kids were coming over the boarder in hoards. Great interview and recognition for the Canadian men that tried to help !!! RIP Sir and thank you for your service…..
Thank you for your kind comment. I have many Canadians stories in my archives. They all need to be heard.
Thank you for your service Sir.We are neighbors.we love Canada
Thank you for your service 🇺🇸🇨🇦
Thank you Gene!!
Please remember the ones that didn’t make it back home!!'!!!!!'!!!!'!'!!!!!!!
What a great interview. Honor and Love is pouring out of this man with each breath, and word spoken. ! Love on so many levels I am left speechless. This world needs many more people like him, he is a hero and someone our youth can look up to as a fine example to emulate. I am left overwhelmed with adoration, respect and in awe of this very special person my life is better by just seeing this beautiful interview. Thank you sir for all you have done for America and the Vietnamese and Canada 🇨🇦 May GOD’S RICHEST BLESSINGS BE YOURS ❤️🗽
One of the best comments I have ever received with all of my Veterans. God bless you for sharing your words. I wish Jim was here to hear them.
An honorable man, no doubt. The world needs more.
Oh yeah Larry, ya most definetly have a calming effect on the Vets. I watch these so intently, I can practically FEEEL the tension release as they field your questions, thus elborating longer & longer to each and often time, see the color in their face change by interview end.😎 I think it really helped James when even HE admitted how he felt when the questions started, to when He found himself likely sayin "Hey? this aint so bad? I think Ive been NEEDIN this?"..BUT?....Like HE SAID,....it ALL rides on the interviewer, and how "OPEN or GUARDED" they feel they "need" to be?...I wish ALL the Vets could/ would come HERE....FIRST.
John, I am thrilled we are working together. Your comment about Jim Donaldson really hits the spot. He was very kind to say the words he did about my work, and yes, many a Veteran has said it feels like a weight and a burden is lifted after they talk to me. I provide a non-threatening environment where they open up to me. Over 75% of them are telling their story for the first time. I've been called a, Psychiatrist with a camera," and a "Church Without Walls!!" I thank God for my Veterans.
@@VoicesofHistory Yeah Larry, all your summations about the experience you provide are spot ON!😎 Sadly, during my binge watching on here, the vietnam vets often have to field "L handed", demoralizing lines of questioning, from VERY IGNORANT interviewers and you can REALLY FEEL the tension mounting. 😡 Ive learned the "type" of sites I need to stay away from. When I see "telling" comments from other vets on "those" sites, that seem like "THEY'RE" cryin out, I take the opportunity to guide them HERE.😎
hello from rocky mid-coast Maine. I was hatched in Winnipeg in 1952.
Cool story, I looked up more Canadians unreal…. What a blessing they have been❤
I have dozens of Canadian stories in my archives.
Thank you James.
Thank You Jimmy for your Service !
Thank you Scott. I invite you to check out my new radio station. Share it with a student and truck driver: Voices of History Radio® (KVOH) larrycappetto.com
Thank you for sharing this Larry... Peace, love and respect from Toronto Canada☮
Keith, I have premiered two films in Toronto. The first one features all Canadian Veterans. The second features all Canadian law enforcement Veterans from Ontario. Here is an interview I did on CP24 with Ann Rohmer. Feel free to share: ruclips.net/video/TZEZFvlhqGQ/видео.html
That interview with Ann was a while back. How time flies. Thank you Larry for sharing all these great stories from all our brave soldiers and veterans.☮
2007, one of my favorites. I have appeared on Breakfast Television twice and on CTV in Montreal.
Rest in Peace Good Man!
wonderful interview James and Larry.....cheers from Florida, Paul
AMEN brother Paul. I hope to come to Florida in April to interview more Veterans.
@@VoicesofHistory we have many Veterans here for sure.....best wishes on you trip.....
Thankyou James you are a good man and need to stop beating yourself up. God knows you are a good man never forget it my brother. Please make peace with the lord and live your life better because you really do deserve it.🙏🏻
Full respect to you sir and thank you for what you went through. RIP James
Canada called it a "silent war." Jim's story was precious to record.
Well done again Larry, another remarkable interview of a remarkable man. I am neither Canadian or American but would still like to say 'THANKYOU FOR YOUR SERVICE' mate You are right to feel proud.
Many thanks Bill. Jim would be happy with your comment.
Wow thank you for my freedom!
Another in a long line of great patriots sharing their stories with us. I was unaware until listening now about the Canadians who fought along the “red, white, and blue” to safeguard the freedoms fought for and won, and the most important of aspect of the respect of one’s brother’s in arms. Great story, Larry.
Jay, I hope to share many more of my Canadian War Stories. Here is one of serveral interviews I did in Canada. This one is from 2007. CP24 is one of Canada's major television networks: ruclips.net/video/TZEZFvlhqGQ/видео.html
Thank you for your service
I was US Army 65-68/ I am Canadian. In my basic at Ft Dix there were two francophone guys from Eastern Townships Quebec. At MP School in Ft Gordon there was a guy from Toronto. Several Mik Maq Aboriginals from the Pictou Landing Band in NS in met later served as Marines.
Thank you for serving with the American army during Vietnam. I would be interested in your story. Are you still living in Canada? Feel free to reach out to me. EMAIL: lcappetto@icloud.com
Amazing story.... wonder how he would feel about today's politics and Castrotruturd...... 🤔
God bless Cricket
God bless and thank our veterans
Semper Fi sir.
Thank you!!
I served with a Canadian Indian Marine from Sudbury, Ontario1967.
His name was Bear and was built like a black bear, a little shorter then me.
Mike I hope to share more of these Canadian stories. Thank you for watching.
July 1967 Bear and 30 other Marines attended Redeye ground to air missile
school at 29 Palms Marine base. Only 14 of us graduated. It was 3 weeks long.
We were bused to El Toro Marine Air Facility and off to Vietnam.
This is weird because we were never stationed anywhere with those missiles.
WE ALL went to 12 Marines Artillery at Dong Ha in the DMZ. He made it home,
because he was not named on the Wall. Only 1 of the 14 was KIA by a mortar
in the 1st month we were there, Aug 1968. I 'd have to find my records for his
name.
Incredible interview
Jim was an unsung hero. He passed way too soon.
Thank You
thanks
Do not cut any corners, when you are a Canadienne soldier, in Vietnam."
Good man. Very interesting.
Sage observations in his elder years!
Thank you Dick!!
@@VoicesofHistory I have a friend, originally from Algona, Iowa, who I have known for almost 60 years! He enlisted in the Army in 1967. He spent his last 10 months of military service in 'Nam. We both got out in late 1970. We have been in "touch" ever since then. He was best man at our wedding in 1974. A couple of weeks ago, I was talking to him on the phone. Of all the times we have interacted with him and his wife in the past 52 years, that phone call, a few weeks ago, was the FIRST time he has EVER in even the faintest of references said anything about what he experienced as a helicopter and fixed wing mechanic in Bien Hoa! It was such a brief statement, I almost missed it!! One of his daughters (2 attorneys, 1 judge, 1 chiropractor and 1 master carpenter for offspring) did not know until her late teens that he had even been in Vietnam .......he kept that quiet about it! Footnote: 24 hours after he left Vietnam, a rocket went through his bunk! It hit at a time he would have normally been occupying his bed! His bunkmate was not so lucky.....he is now on the Wall!
Dick, your comment is simply amazing!! Thank you for sharing. I wonder if he would ever sit down with me and talk? Why don't you ask him? You may contact me via my website: larrycappetto.com
I served in Korea with a Canadian 😅Peter Tizzard who was cutting meat in Great falls when drafted and shipped with the first Calve to Veit Nam
I have many Canadian War stories. Thank you for watching Douglas!!
People talking about how "fun" kill or be killed is can reflect in a greater contribution to war time conditions via stigma. Ww3 coming ever closer daily...
It doesn't matter if it Canadian or Australian or even South Korea fought in Vietnam and died also and was on our side but I believe and think those other countrys I mentioned should be more recognized and they should have medals also for they didn't have too help and get involved even though most Australian units was special operations units mostly still Australia and South Korea and Canada should recognized more because they came there too serve also God bless them and out troops and the other country's involved for helping also and dying
That's interesting I didn't realize that 40,000 Canadians join the Vietnam War
I disagree with some of his words..
