Had this gun over a year now. My favorite semi-auto ever owned;dependable, light, and is a pretty gun .
Just got this gun this year for goose hunting. Went above and beyond my expectations. Shot over a thousand rounds and never once had a problem. Very reliable, smooth shooting, hardly any recoil, a lot less muzzle jump than the versa max which is what my dad uses. Couldn't be happier with my purchase. Knocked a few geese down at 65 yards with an after market choke and black cloud 2 3/4 shells.
A very comprehensive review. Thank you for that! We need more like these.
The only concern I have about the gun is the mag cut-off. It could accidentally be activated and then it becomes a one shot.
I searched for an all around shotgun for a year+. I love sporting clays, Turkey hunting & recently duck and geese hunting. I have read everything I could find and narrowed it to the Maxus, SBE2, and the Beretta Xtreme2. I held each several times and the night before duck season I bought a Maxus. This was based on their better reviews and being about $300.00 cheaper. My 1st shot with it killed a goose. My SBE2 buddies after shooting this now want a Maxus. There is a lot less recoil with the Maxus
This video solved my problem which was trying to install the forearm (slowly). The forearm catch won't "catch". But if you slide it down hard….click. No scope mount channels, but this gun was purchased in the US not the UK. We'll see next week how it does on Turkeys with an extended full+ choke.
Pretty much an SX3 with some extras, I like the lever release for the strip down, and the bits they have taken from the old A5 are good.
I have an original 1925 Browning auto five with these features also, great to see them being used on the Maxus.
Just a note - a cool feature with this gun is that you can actually load 6 into it using a method called "ghost loading," which involves loading a cartridge under the bolt. Very awesome gun.
wow...nice review...just ordered mine maxus hunter and i can't wait for it any longer...can you make a cleaning video? what oil to use and how to clean it? i want to clean mine right so that it can last me a very long time...very excited to get mine...
Great gun !!!... bought one a month ago ! 👍
Hi, am I better off buying this gun in the 26 or 28 barrel configuration as a general shooting gun? Thanks!
are you a expierienced or not at shooting shotguns? and what will you be using it for?
Speed load has been around for a long time....Gold hunters are also equipped with the feature
I have the Dura Touch one and it looks like new after 1000+ rounds. Only thing that has some scratches is the barrel. and i think its the same coating on all of the maxus'
And as far as the guy that said this gun doesn't perform in cold weather, I'm from Michigan and we went out a few times during that "polar vortex" when it was 6 degrees and it performed like it was 70 degrees outside. You can't buy a better gun.
Luke Seedorff I went ptarmigan hunting in -40 and my pump action was getting finicky. It all depends on your "cold" definition.
Tiberiu Nicolae you went hunting in -40 not very sporting
hi where do u put a sling strap? on the back there is a little hole for the stock but where is the front hole please help?
@cheesexxballs when you open the lever to disassemble you can install the sling right there, very nifty design.
I'm curious how the finish (camo+dura touch) has held up over a year. I am getting this gun soon but a little worried about what I have been hearing from the finish of this gun. I do treat my guns very well though
The Maxus shoots high. Thus the need for the extended height front bead. You would think Browning would have been smarter than that and make a spot on barrel and not curve them upward and then compensate with a raised sight.
just bought a maxus in flat black and didnt get the high viz sight or the exstended choke. is that only with the duck blind model?
great video. When is the new A5 review? Would love to hear which one is better.
Limited too 2+1 (in the chamber) on an SGC (Shotgun Cert.)
What's the range on the maxus like how far is it effective
@boltjet135 To be honest, I live in The Netherlands and don't know the UK legislation, but I've seen the Browning Maxus appear serval times on Fieldsport Channel (a weekly Britisch countryside and fieldsports show). If you want to know for sure and in case you've got a Facebook profile, you should add Mike Yeardley, Charley Jacoby or Mark Gilchrist. They are the main characters on the show and should all about the law. Hope you'll find your answer!
Anyone know how easy it is to mount an Aimpoint on the Maxus? (I'm thinking about a slug hunting rig for driven boar)
This gun does NOT like negative degree weather, well even low teens. It turns from a beast to a slow motion single shot.
i think its your ammo not the gun
TRUE, even the 3.5" is very versatile, it even takes 7/8oz loads
Mine does not have the Magazine Cut off ???
Very good review!
Heard of two different people buying these and not working in rain or
not working on 2 3/4 loads
My buddy can't shoot Clay's or dove with his. Doesn't cycle
I have had this gun for 6 year and it never jammed or missed a cycle. 2 3/4 practice rounds to 3 1/2 steel shot. My a5 had a problem with 2 3/4 reloading, but the problem was the ammo some were duds and some rounds didn’t have powder in them.
@boltjet135 Ofcourse it is mate, don't you watch Fieldsports Britain?
Bloody good video though; well presented with no faff.
my maxus didn't come with half of those accessories I'm in Canada would that be why or they didn't pack them i'm pissed
Funnily enough I'm in the UK I got everything except the pack of coloured sigh s !
I've reviewed the Mossberg, Remington, Winchester but this will give Benelli a run for their money.

Great review
Thanks
Great video.
hello. what is the barrel lenght in this video please?
Teddy CATALANOTTO He says 28” in the video.
great gun great video
Not strictly true. Only illegal for Waterfowl and Game birds. Those on the general license such as rabbits and pigeons are fine for use with pumps and self-loaders with a greater than 2+1 capacity.
i came here cause it was browning... those guns are legit :p
i love that gun how much?
as cool as it is i don't think i will ever like anything more then my grandfathers auto 5
Not with the quick release foreend mate.
Well....Nice gun...BUT.. Over priced for what it can do....Versa Max shoots anything from 2 3/4" to 3 1/2" Shells for a considerable lot less... no switches to flip to change loads or shot.....Nice Gun BUT...I'm just saying ....
The hell I dident get half this stuff

7:54 "i have fired lots of rounds in africa ...."
8:32 yet I am fumbling for a bolt release button which is not required in this semi auto. What a cheat....
