@thorw4ld the fan currently looks better. The official has potential and is more stable from a code standpoint, but they didn't properly account for the "tall pixel" design style of WC1 which results in everything looking stretched sideways. I'll have a video on that dropping today!
Looking for a mod is the first thing I searched for when I first tried Warcraft 1. Only being able to select one character at a time... Can't even right click to move... it was so archaic, I couldn't believe it. This mod is absolutely necessary, and absolutely fantastic.
@@EnigmaHood I'm glad you find this useful! I'll post a video with some general Warcraft 1 tips soon. You are actually able to select up to 4 in the base game, you must hold shift and click extras or holding control allows you to drag select. There is also the "Warcraft 1 Mouse Helper" which I've made a video on and will link here: ruclips.net/video/1LyoUyxlTk4/видео.html War1gus allows up to 50 selections though which is quite nice!
It is very impressive! I like playing the game in the original engine, but this is quite useful and would be cool to setup some multiplayer matches in!
I credit O&H with getting me into PC gaming. Saw my friend’s older brother playing it and got addicted. Didn’t have a PC at the time so I’d just play it at their house. When I got my first PC, Warcraft 2 was out but the nostalgia of this one never ceases to make me happy. I love that this project keeps the general ambience, graphics, and music.
Awesome to hear! Warcraft 2 was my first but I played WC2 around the same time. This project is definitely great! I also recently posted a video on how to get it running well in 16:9 wide-screen.
There are a lot of great updated 90s games these days! Both official releases and fan made. I'm going to be doing more videos showcasing them. I may have to take a look at Dune Legacy as well.
fantastic review. Great quality of insights. I am suprise that you notice so many elements that was added. as for the strategies... i think waterelements are underpower, its a humiliation unit now. You are much better with summoning tons of scorpions. Fire Rain or Poison cloud are weak... they have some use in damaging base, but its easy to just move units away. there was some multi games, even with some competivie player. But the games ended at the Knight/Rider stage. priest/necrolyte are quite powerful with spying the terrain, heal/skeletons are strong multiplier to your armies. Invisibility is meh... but Unholy Armor are shifting power to the orc side. you probably notice that the games core (spam) units are now footman/grunt - as it should be per Warcraft 1 manual :-P not sure if that change in late game, maybe scorpion/spider spam render them obsolete.
The CRT Filter makes the game look so much better. I had just started playing Wyrmsun when I found this and could finally use my old DOS game to play again. This is so much fun!
This mod fantastic. Great job to the mod team!! This is a great way to revisit the original game in the original engine rather than SC2 or WC3 custom maps. The new upgrades and the modernized controls really give it a whole new feel.
i tried this mod a couple of years ago, maybe till 2021 or 2020, maybe it has been improved. I remember the menu was a bit off. But its cool to have group controls on here too. Fun tutorial mick. Very educative.t that tower is so overpowered lol 9:35
this is great! i just finished replaying SC1 and this is just as good for nostalgia....the art direction and sound design in wc1 was great i wish they stayed with that for wc2/wc3...having to build building next to roads etc...just great...the game has aged well
Is there an details about the rebalance? One thing I really loved in WC:O&H.was how UNbalanced the units were. A Grunt would beat a Footman, an Archer would shoot farther than a Spearman, etc. Was fun.
I could probably look up all of the differences in the code of the game. This video was made in version 3.3.2 and there is now a version 3.3.3 which fixes things like the machinegun tower. I personally primarily play with the original stats and original fog of war mechanics though.
It would be awesome if they did, that was actually the original plan when the remasters were envisioned but corporate people decided that WC1 wouldn't be a profitable remaster so they jumped straight to 3.
There should technically be a way to within the code, which is open source. I'll see if I can figure it out. I'd also recommend checking out the stratagus discord and seeing if one of the guys there can help.
@@mickcraftgaming "You can tweak many of the game’s parameters using the Lua language." Do you know what can be tweaked? It doesn't seem to have increased group size for example

There seem to be nine unique colors, although the ninth seems to be reserved for neutral or computer controlled units only. The player colors are: red, blue, orange, purple, green, gray, white, and yellow

I'm not sure that there will ever be an official Warcraft 2 remaster, but there is Wargus and the Warcraft 2 wide-screen patch which I will cover later.
The graphics aren't filtered in this video at all, but graphics filters are available in War1gus. The remastered aspect is in the form of the controls and the unit pathing rather than the graphics.
Well, an official remaster is now out! Subscribe for my playthrough of Warcraft: Remastered!
EDIT: First video will be - what Blizzard got wrong
which one do you think looks better? fan or official?^^

The new art for the remaster also seems to be AI slop and not the good kind either.
@RaytheonThunder yeah it's not a great look - I'll still be happy with the improved controls if they can correct for the aspect ratio
No multiplayer on the remaster either. This fan version looks good, will give it a go !
I'm impressed by all the little updates like showing a unit has low health with a bleed effect. Very cool overall!
Yes it's very impressive! I found it while looking for a Warcraft 1 map editor.
That’s so cool! Never knew about this mod! The more modern controls definitely help
Yeah it is very cool! Good be a good way to get newer players into the game.

Yeah, that tower is nuts. I think it is just to prevent rushes and it gets balanced after the armor upgrades are done.
