Thanks for introducing me to this because I'm a huge sucker for obstacle race yet I've never heard of Spartan race. Now I got a little over a month to turn myself from a couch potato into a built racer. Wish me luck... Edit: Just did this race yesterday. It was a lot of fun. While training for it, the rope climb was the easiest yet it turned out to be the hardest obstacle during the race due to how muddy and slippery the rope and our shoes were so I couldn't get any grip at all. Also got the worst leg cramp of my life, yay. The bucket carry was hell, so was the atlas stone. Couldn't even lift it at all. But aside from that I didn't have much trouble with the other parts. The rain and cold weather made some harder but none I couldn't overcome. It was so fun that I signed up for a Super right after I got home. Yes, you are both right ! Wow such love and positivity here. Thank you Grey, and thank you "I Came Here To Nep At You" 💗 BTW, the scammer has vanished from all the comments apparently.
@@fat1fared Did a similar one here in Sweden but instead of the mountain hike it's a swim in ocean + 5km run on flat surface and I was completely untrained and jesus fuck I was completely dead after
As a guy in my 30s trying to get in shape, this is really inspiring and motivating. I always love when Chris makes these bigger sort of documentary videos, too. Hope he keeps making stuff like this forever.
so true, one of the most passionate creators in this platform for sure and i love this man.
Also, good luck maboi! 🙌
Great video man! It was super fun running with you, and I am glad I can finally just show my family a video instead of trying to explain what a "multirig" is. Let's do it again! -Kyle from Nagoya
Well done Kyle. You did a victorious leap over the fire at the end 👍
Congratulations man! I can only imagine how it felt. Just watching from home seeing you guys all make it to the end was emotional!
Look at this chad, nothing can stop him.
Thanks for taking us on your fitness journey, Chris. Can't wait for more to come!
Chris Broad (Waist) has evolved in to Chris Broad (Shoulders)
I signed up for a Spartan race near me right after watching your video. You're very motivating and inspiring.
Once again, thanks for introducing me to this new world I otherwise never would have found out about. It got me motivated and back to working out, which is great for my body. I know you probably won't read this comment but I still want to leave something in case you do.
I did a Spartan in Picton, NSW. It was such a great experience, I'd love to do it in different countries!
I’d absolutely love to run another one outside Japan
@@AbroadinJapan You should come to Sweden we have one that is really hardcore, 5km 100 obstacles and by the end no part of you will be left without mud. "Golden trophy, military fitness, backamo"
Lol im from Picton.
Chris is really doing a lot more physical challenges and that's really great. I hope that he's able to reach his goals and see his journey all the way through. Also I hope his health is good
Chris, so proud of you man. I'm not overweight, but just of shape. However, watching you fight for your health is inspiring! Shedding some empty calories (beer, fried foods) is a small trade-off for better health! You look a lot like the Chris that biked across Japan. You got this, man!
*Edit* Those calves are looking massive, someone's got the cardio down pat!
As a person who tries to figure out my health, I need to admit that seeing you doing these challenges, and working hard to your goal, is a pure joy and a motivation in itself. It looks hard, but I'm glad to see your endeavours!
I love the encouragement and the sheer joy shown here every time Chris gets over an obstacle (It's not lost on me that his biggest obstacle improving his health it's mine too) but the genuine delight on his friends faces, the way they are working to set him up for success, and rooting for him to best himself is just so wonderful.
Love the fact that they coach him and encourage him the entire way there, they could leave him for dust but they're just genuinely lovely encouraging people!
Nic & Angela looked like the best company to have during that race, completely in control! Well done Chris
Chris, you did so great! You should be so proud of yourself. Awesome friends you have there, too. And, the Japanese man who stopped to pick up your hat for you was amazing! Loved everyone cheering each other on.
Proud of you man for taking your health seriously. For everyone watching, you'd be surprised how big a difference walking an extra 15 minutes a day, or doing pushups and sit ups at home makes.
4 years ago I started doing a bunch of little things to improve. Each year, I took it a little farther. I'm in much better shape now, so I know you can do it too.
careful... scammer alert !!! 💙
That's nice, happy for you! I'll try too :)
@@bengtal what're you talking about lol
@@evesword4270 lol, it looks like the scam-reply was deleted ! because I am certainly not talking about you or wherethetatosat, I promise lol 😂 ya, there was a scammer account posting replies to MANY people's comments, so I went into many of those commen-reply-threads and posted warnings.... looks like maybe they retracted their attempt. take care 💚
Seeing Chris knock out these goals is so inspiring! Even more when you do burpies because you still don't give up!
Even at my fittest back in High School, I don't think i'd have done anywhere near as well as you did. This is definitely lighting a fire under me because that looks super fun
Watching this journey whilst it's happening is so enlightening. Although we love the satirical humour and him constantly joking about his weight, he is doing amazing. If you see this Chris, even if you think you're not doing enough or find anything to criticise yourself on, you are doing so well. As someone who has a strong stance against fatphobia, I find it admirable that you can find motivation and think of your own health. I'm glad you're doing on your own terms and no one else's. Also, during this constant journey, it's so easy to criticise yourself and feel guilt over the little things. Whatever journey this takes you on, atleast you know you are trying/tried your hardest :) Goodluck on the rest of your journey and now it's time for a rest! (your body needs it!)
Made me laugh at the end when Chris and nic were stuffing their faces in the food and Angela is in the background doing even more exercise 😂
She did that for the free beer!! BoooM
Nothing gets in between a woman and her free beer.
18:40 props to the dude rolling in the background lol. Good form xD
The lad in the blue shorts (17:53) just zooming by on pure determination and arm strength 😂😂
Perfect timing, sitting here with a huge bowl of food in front of me, I'm ready to watch Chris struggle and suffer.
Jokes aside, well done Chris, you have done a great job so far concerning your weight loss!
I literally cannot do a single push-up so even the burpees would've ruined me hehe
Same with a plate full of chippy haha! 😂
dont call me out like that lol
18:32 I love how the other contenders are just rolling underneath the wire haha
careful... scammer alert !!! 💙
I thought that was funny asf and was hoping someone else noticed the dude in black lmao
Omg why is that so funny, just watching all those people struggle crawling and then that dude comes rolling like a machine hahah
it was so sweet to see how supportive nick, angela and all the others were in this! it gives off really good vibes i love it! :D

I'm so proud of you Chris! You look absolutely incredible and we can definitely see the progress you're making even in your studio-recorded segments! And not gonna lie, your confidence is overflowing! (even though you definitely weren't lacking in confidence before) You genuinely sound happy, even despite the usual expected Chris Broad grumpy boomer signature voice-overs. Keep it up and I'd love to see what you take on next!
Going from out out of shape and mostly sedentary to this is really impressive and inspiring, thanks Chris, good on you mate.
meh
Can’t wait to see more of Chris’s training arc 🙏
Congrats Chris, that was genuinely the most intense event I've ever seen you do. And you blitzed it. When I get off my holiday, I'm gonna get your merch to congratulate ya.
The fact that Nick wore that comedically large hat all day, that also seems to suit him, is a win for me!
My cousin did the spartan race in PA,USA in winter and I thought she was nuts… but she was too trying to get healthy. I’m glad y’all have something to work towards. It’s amazing. ❤

You're a king for not only doing all of these tough physical challenges, but also for maintaining the motivation to keep at it despite how hard they are! You're an inspiration to all of us Chris!
As someone who has pretty much let themselves go, this is such an inspiration. I hope you reach your goals Chris!
It might sound strange coming from a stranger, but I'm really proud of you Chris. Hats off for doing all the training and workouts.
It's one thing to say you're going to improve, another to actually do it.
As someone who is the same age as you I am incredibly impressed and proud of you dude. I feel tired just watching you! I have went from 16 stone to 13 and a half this year by dieting but I also want to improve my fitness, you’ve given me a lot of motivation and hope! Honestly, well done fella, that looked absolutely brutal. You’re doing amazing!
Thanks
Truly a triumph for Dr. Jelly surviving the race. Good show Chris and squad, clearly that hard work is paying off.
Chris, watching you go through this journey has given me so much inspiration. I have been having some health issues due to being overweight (currently at 250lbs), and I have decided to do something about it. I just talked a friend of mine into helping me get back into the gym and whip me into shape for a Spartan Race next year. Best of luck to you!
Nic is a great coach and you beasted this bro great work
Seeing Chris struggle to get over the wall was honestly spectacular truly abroad in a jam
Big respect to Chris for doing all of this for merch ad. You killed it, man!
Doing 16 of the obstacles is very impressive. Well done!
I was literally shouting "Go Chris!" To the point my grandmother was like "who is chris?" Way to go man the first one is the hardest.
freaking mad respect to chris. that looked hella hard and he pulled through like a trouper
Loving AiJ's evolution from discussing life and food in Japan to an extreme sports channel🤘
So, SO incredibly proud of you Chris. Thank you for also helping me to really look at myself and start eating better. You really are an affable inspiration!
Inspiring seeing someone proper sticking with their goals! Big ups from NZ
Awesome job Chris! That looked pretty fun
25:48 best shot of the whole episode. How epic!! Congrats Chris and team!!!
27:57 The fact that Angela is still working out in the background of the Endcart is just perfection. Go get 'em, girl. 💅
Great work Chris!
Wow this was so impressive 👏🏻 great job. Makes me want to try something like this one day. Though I have no upper body strength 😂
Proud of Chris for all the effort he's putting in to do better in life
Healthier, not better.
@@SophiaAstatine eating healthier and loosing weight means your doing better then you were in the past.?
@@zephy7054 No, I mean like, it won't necessarily feel better. Getting started can be a painful slog for many, and it rarely stops being so after just a week, if you both scramble diet and exercise at once. So stick with it even if it feels like ass.
@@SophiaAstatine Is this the first video you've watched by him?
I've watched his journey through other videos he looks healthier then he did before.
@@zephy7054 Of course not. I'm just saying, for any who read this and wants to be healthier, that the journey there won't necessarily feel better. It might even be a detriment in some ways, but that shouldn't discourage!
I did not know Nic had a youtube. I used to watch him on Imagination on NHK World. How fun! Congrats, Chris, for tackling this! You did amazing and should be proud of yourself. ^.^
The best era of this channel is still coming! Love seeing you and this channel evolve in such a positive way.
Jesus christ this intense race in 93 degree heat and humidity!! I'm so proud of you and your journey for your health. You are looking great!!
Love Nick and Junk Food Japan. He's such a delight. Congrats Chris on completing that obstacle course. Love to see how far you've come with your fitness training.
Congratulations, having a awesome team definitely was key!! The more you continue to do these events you will master all of them. Definitely excellent results for your 1st attempt. Hard work pays off!! Good job mate
I simply cannot wait for the point in Chris’ life where he looks at a physical challenge like this and thinks “I have the ability to DO THIS!” Very much stoked to see him tackling these challenges and taking his health into his hands (not interested in his weight but seeing how his performance and quality of life improve).
The camaraderie of the spartan race looks really amazing. Like, the spirit alone makes me wanna try and join it!
Doing that in heat really makes it ten times harder. I’ve been there, you really do have to just ignore the suffering of your body in the moment. Good job! Keep up the steady progress!
Really proud of you, Chris! Makes me thinka fellow big guy like myself can do something like this
I’m halfway through and I’m legit so impressed. Chris managed so much that would have had me crying on the floor. I weigh as much as the sandbags or balls so lifting them would have snapped my arms like sticks.
I am actually weirdly into the fitness stuff even as someone who never goes to the gym, more of this Chris!
That was awesome! Seeing Chris actually so pleased to complete the challenge was great
This is the best motivational video ever. Congrats Chris.
You already look to be in significantly better shape, kind of insane how much progress you've made.
Wow. that was an amazing course! Nic and Angela were also amazing. I loved all Nic's tips and all the nice people along the way. Looks like a great goal to train to do that race.
I feel so motivated just seeing Chris do all this challenges~!!!!

I have watched you for over 5 years, for someone who has battled the demons with weight loss, (As light as 80kgs as heavy as 140kgs ) everytime you release an insane video like cycling 750km across Japan or your 29 episode cycling series. All it does is motivate me to keep me consistent with the gym, setting blockers in my self to not allow my self to go to Japan until i hit my fat goal % of 20%-15%.
If a "Lazy brit can do it why the heck can't an Aussie do it".
P.S most people have shocking Aussie accents when they take the piss, but i have to give that one props at 7:29 actually 10/10!
I ran my first Spartan race last year in Los Angeles! It had been a goal of mine for a literal decade and I was so glad I did. Happy you had fun!
