What is your favorite frozen meal?
Stouffers Lasagna. I'll face a whole pan of it with no regrets.
Swanson Hungry Man Fried chicken dinner and if they have it Mesquite flavor but original is fine
Michael Angelo’s ziti
Stouffers Romano fried chicken or Stouffers Fettucine Alfredo.
Stouffer's Macaroni and Cheese
I second the Michael Angelo's eggplant parmesan. Good stuff.
I love their meat lasagna.
I 3RD Michael Angelo's eggplant parm it's my go 2 4 vegetarian week.
I don’t care for eggplant but all of MA’s other dishes are amazing too. You will never want Stoffers again.
I prefer Chicken Parmesan but eggplant is also good
Best I have tasted
I like Marie Calendar's pot pies
I HAVE STAGE 4 COPD SO I TRY TO EAT MEALS THAT ARE FROZEN AND EASY FOR ME TO HEAT IN THE MICROWAVE, IT. IS SO MUCH EASIER FOR ME THAN COOKING JUST FOR MYSELF. I HAVE HAD TO MUCH SODIUM AND I'M NOW ON BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICINE, I CAN ONLY EAT SMALL MEALS ABOUT EVERY FEW HOURS DURING THE DAY SO THESE FROZEN DINNERS WERE PERFECT FOR ME.NOW I HAVE TO WATCH MY SODIUM. AND CANNOT EAT THE FROZEN FOODS LIKE I USE TO
As a newly separated ex-husband I have been almost lived off Stoffuers fish fillet with the side of Mac and cheese ...great!
You should try the Salisbury steak with a side of toast
My 8yr old daughters fav. Fish fillet & mac & cheese. The Salisbury steak & mac & cheese is my fav. I get the larger portion size for me. And I keep a few other varieties on hand for those rare days I don't pack my husbands lunch
My favorite!!!
Ok I read your comment and instantly thought of a sarcastic but possibly offensive reply so I won’t say it but, I did get a giggle at your expense, please forgive me 😊
@@deltajohnson6604 good idea, on those days mine gets Schwanns pot pie or the like
The Michalengelo’s eggplant parm is one of my stand-boys. Always one in my freezer. That’s my favorite frozen meal. Stouffers lasagne with meat sauce is pretty good as well.
I love Stouffers Frozen stuffed peppers it is so delishious
Tastes nearly homemade
They are excellent for a frozen food, almost like homemade.
Your videos sure help a person decide on what tasty quick item to purchase/prepare.
I, as probably many others, have wasted money on promised delicacies only to toss it all in the trash.
Thanks so very much for your advice.
Stouffer Stuffed Peppers are a great option when you are single
Absolutely LOVE zatarains blackened chicken Alfredo
The only downside of mostvfrozen food is the sodium it's usually very high
I'm definitely more concerned about the sodium content then I am with calories, fat etc
Then you should pay more for a less taste but then it’ll kill you with required addititives
purberri...salt content is SKY HIGH!
You don’t think the sugar is higher?
@@Swimfinz the sugar is probably higher
Michael Angelos Lasagna is way better than Stouffers, since Stouffers changed their recipe a couple years ago.
Stouffers still taste good to me.
I highly recommend you try Kirkland’s frozen lasagna from Costco if you ever get the chance. It blows Michael Angelo’s and Stouffer’s lasagna out of the water
True and they have the best eggplant parmesan.
Michaelangelo Lasagna has crack in it wayyyyy better than Stoffers
Why not just make lasagne
If you are able to cook your frozen meal in a regular oven (ie. Stouffer's mac&cheese) and can stand waiting 50 min. for it to cook it tastes like homemade by comparison to microwave. Just check to see if the container can stand up to the heat and not melt. Happy eating and thanks for all the recommendations.
Stouffer's frozen anything, used to be much better when Stouffer's owned the business.
It has gone downhill since Nestle's bought it and cheapened everything.
@@treelover4615 Thanks Treelover. I didn't know that. If I'm eating like that (processed gross) I'ld like to get the best quality I can so I am not just eating empty calories cause I love comfort food.
@@marciaclark3408 I'm sorry I can't suggest other frozen foods.
I just know Stouffer's is disappointing.
They used to be the best in my opinion.
I don't live far from their plant.
Some of the others in this article may be relevant for what you desire.
Saffron Road Butter Chicken with some mini-Naan
Anything by Marie Callender's (except pie!) has sodium off the charts.
They all have too much sodium to be healthy. Note the very small portions; 8-9 oz, meaning you will need more than one if you are hungry. If you are taking BP meds, your already at risk, eat this highly processed food packed with sodium and your heading for a stroke.
I speak from experience, I've ate this processed food for decades, my stroke changed my life. It changed me from an active person into a disabled cripple and now I take a dozen pills every day to survive. I've been hospitalized 5 times this year, it's even more fun now that they are in Covid 19 lockdown, cuz you can't leave your bed.
Frozen food has similar risks as alcoholism and smoking. Read the labels and do your research. Find out for yourself.
I'll be 68 next week, I'm treating myself to a Life Alert as my special treat. Highly recommended for "heavy users"
I'm through ranting, if I can save one person from a stroke, then I will know why God has still kept me alive.
Chris.
@@crankychris2 one of my coworkers died at the ripe age of 42 because he nor his wife cooked and lived off the microwave. He died of a massive coronary. He ate a lot of fast food also. That's another huge factor. I try to steer clear of both.
SHOUT OUT FOR THE SHOUT OUT TO VERMONT CHEESE! YES! I used to live in Vermont, yeah yeah yeah, it's it's own breed.
In Vermont, back in the day. 40's and 50's, it used to be known as Store Cheese. Every General Store has a very large wheel of it, and they would slice off the poundage you requested. I think back then there were several dairys making Vermont style Cheddar, besides Cabot.
The Saffron Road Tikka Masala and Coconut Curry are both fantastic for what they are
I ran across Saffron Road Tikka Masala by accident about six months ago and tried it. It is surprisingly good.
I make it at home from time to time but in a pinch, there’s actually
good flavor in it.
I have never found their coconut curry.
My favorite frozen food meal for years now is Stouffer's Rigatoni with Chicken in pesto sauce. My absolute go-to.
I completely vouch for Michael Angelo's Eggplant Parm! It is delicious!!
I was curious about their meals. Thanks!
Frozen food has become soooo much better than 40 years ago.
I really wonder what '60s TV Dinners tasted like.
How old are you? Lmao
@Buster Scruggs
I have never had a frozen tv dinner burger and fries. Where did you get those?
I am 75 and TV dinners have greater variety now and some are even better, but high sodium levels have always been an issue.
Sodium is high, back in the day they didn't tell you.
Amys CHEESE enchiladas are the best! Please try the cheese ravioli too.
Mmmmmm
Love those Amy’s cheese enchiladas!
I love Amy's macaroni and cheese. I will be trying the cheese enchiladas very soon.
Amy's enchiladas are better than most restaurant ones. 😋
Definitely my favorite, also their veggie lasagna!
Everything from Michael Angelos is delicious! Blake's and Trader Joe's is great too.
Michael Angelos chicken piccata...and chicken picatta with penne.
Lean cuisine feticini alfredo with chicken awesomely 😋 yummy
I've tried all of these, and I love them. Thank you for this
Pot Pies 🥧 🔥💯
Amy's cheese enchiladas are as good as any you can get at a restaurant. They are on my weekly grocery list. Top them with sour cream and fresh Pico De Gallo (WalMarts Freshness Guaranteed is amazing), a side of tortilla chips, and you've got an awesome meal.
I totally agree!
Love those!
Mallwart
When microwaving frozen meals, decant when frozen onto plate. Then mix several times while microwaving.
And add a lot more veggies. None of these meals have enough veggies!
We always buy Michael Angelo's egg plant parmezan every time we shop. Delish and vegetarian.
Marie calenders makes the best pot pies. I dont eat much frozen tv dinners but this is delicious
Don't like Marie's crust!
@@ladyd8339 Yeah but for a frozen pot pie they arent bad at all crust wise
They are good, but very high in sodium and saturated fat. I have high cholesterol and high blood pressure, so I limit pot pies ( and pizza) to one or two times a month.
Lean Cuisine Steak Portabella was a favorite mine for a few years. I’d eat it with brown rice or leftover mashed potatoes. It was hard to find for a while (like many things) but I started seeing it again in stores recently. Definitely not the same quality.
stouffers was actually good in the pre-kraft days. now the lasagna doesn't have as much cheese / sauce as it used to. the meatloaf has much more filler today
the mac n' cheese isn't as cheesey as it used to be.
I think you mean stouffers before nestle in Switzerland bought it.
Did you know that the lasagna served a Fazoli's is Stouffers?
i bought Marie Callender's once, but since I have hypertension I will not include it in my purchases because it is too high in sodium. But most tv dinners are so I select the ones that are the lowest in sodium, trying not to go higher that 600 mg.
1500 mg sodium is the maximum daily recommended allowance for anyone with hypertension. I wish someone would post low sodium frozen foods that aren't so processed.
That's why I always check labels and typically go with Healthy Choice or Lean Cuisine meals, but you have to check the labels on those also.
Zataran's is my number one choice!
Close second:
Stouffer's.
Third place:
Marie Callander's.
True some frozen foods can be really outstanding
I’m surprised you didn’t mention Rao’s frozen entrees. Their dinners are scrumptious.
I have tried the Michal Angelos Eggplant Parm, pretty good!
Rao’s frozen meals are great! I have no idea how they achieve “al dente” in a frozen meal.
THANK YOU for knowing that shepherd's pie made with beef should be called cottage pie!
Strange....I'm 67 & never heard that term for shepherd's pie.
@@pamh.5705 no ur 16 (really r u 67?)
@@John17TheOGmp4 LOL...why would you doubt me? Is there a reason I would Lie?
@@pamh.5705 no it's okay let me tell ya some time I saw a weird comment on youtube that says someone (claiming they did that comment) says they were like 96 and it's dead like lol that's so weird
@@pamh.5705 I’m 69 and never heard it called Cottage Pie either! 🧐
I won’t eat them to high in salt, for someone who has kidney problems. But did eat them when I was a kid. Loved fried chicken frozen dinners.
Never married so frozen food is always the way to go. If I want fresh I have 5 sisters who are all great cooks .
I cannot for the sake of me...get away from Mac n' Cheese...thanks to that scene from Home Alone as a child.
Banquet Salisbury steak family meal with a loaf of Hawaiian rolls! The gravy is the perfect dipping sauce for that sweet roll of goodness!
Well said. I'm going to try that.
stouffers makes a white vegetable lasagna thats really good too
You're right! I havent had it in a while but its very good.
Sweet Earth! Forget it. I tried the Pad Thai Noodles. Never ever would I buy it again. Ever!!!
Thanks will try some
I usually get Amy’s frozen meals. They’re plant based and kosher. I’m not vegetarian, but they’re good. I eat a kosher-style so it helps. I also like Tai Pei’s beef and broccoli and their sweet and sour chicken. They seem pretty healthy and good portions.
There's a company called Deep that makes very good frozen Indian food. The best stuff they make is Chicken Vindaloo (pretty spicy), Chicken Tikka Masala, and Paneer and Spinach with Rice (sounds boring, but tastes amazing).
I second the Trader Joe’s tikka masala
There is NO Eggplant in my latest Michaelangelo Eggplant Parmesan. Only breading and very little marinara sauce. WHAT Gives?
Now I'm totally hungry! 😋
cauliflower , potatoes, garlic, evoo , the best , try it!
I always use basmati rice, instead of plain white rice, because when it's cooked, the grains are nicely separated and NOT sticky. And I'm pretty sure I'm cooking it properly because the basmati I get from Indian restaurants is cooked exactly the same.
As far as I know, basmati is not supposed to be sticky.
any rice can be prepared non-sticky if you first saute the uncooked rice in a little oil for a few minutes before adding the liquid.
@@marzsit9833 I'll try that with plain white rice. I never make it because it always turns out sticky and clumpy, even if I rinse it a few times.
I love basmati rice! And you're right, any that I have had is NOT sticky, like regular white rice.
Worst frozen dinner I have ever tasted is Martha Stewart's. Not only do they taste horrid but way overpriced. Michael A's and Amy's are really delicious. 👌
Yeah, mine was awful. I threw it away & didn't even bother w/ the 2nd one i had purchased & just went ahead and threw it away too.
Benihana's Rocky's Choice is one of my current favorites, along with anything from Rao's.
Trader Joe’s and Devour are more expensive but Amy’s is too! this week I picked up Michael Angelos eggplant parm and chicken parm for $1.99 each!
Amy's is fantastic
It really helps when you show the boxes..you dont on some
I like Trader Joe’s tikka masala, but I like the fish more. It's the texture. I do not care for the shepherd's pie. My late wife spoiled me with hers. She was from Scotland, Sometimes she used lamb, and at other times beef.
Stouffer's lasagna used to be wonderful but it's terrible now. I tastes like noodles covered with ketchup. I don't know what they changed but I wish they would have left it alone.
Bought out by Nestle Corporation some years back.
All the good co.s got ate up by a conglomerate and ruined.
Good info. Thank you
They just changed the mashed potatoes and the meatloaf tastes like chemicals now. Why F up a good thing???
It’s all bout money and profits.@@shac9131
I love frozen foods…but now, I wish they would make “low sodium” dishes.
Amy's used to make a line of frozen dinners with half the sodium of their regular meals. They were very tasty and plenty salty, but were hard to find. They no longer make them at all, and I'm boycotting Amy's until they're back.
Healthy Choice and Lean Cuisine meals have lower sodium in most instances.
Marie Calenders dinners are pretty good. Although my favorite was the chicken Parm and I have not seen it in a long time☹️
They also seem expensive compared & also seem small
None of this is available in Canada . Jealous ! Stouffers lasagna available thank goodness .I I always after extra cheese !
I completely agree about Michael Angelo's Eggplant Parm. Delicious! One day when the EP was out of stock I tried their Lasagna and it was a complete miss. To completely transform this dish cook it for about 55min of the required 65, remove it from the oven and peel back the top. Layer on grilled chicken or meatball slices and smother in your favorite sauce. Cook for an additional 25 minutes and prepare to be amazed.
Michael Angelo’s eggplant Parmigiana is the BOMB!!!
MARIE CALENDER. POT ROAST. AND SALISBURY STEAK DINNER.
THANKS. MEOWW.
Cauliflower mac and cheese is not mac and cheese, it's au gratin.
Evol are great
I like Stouffer's 😊
It is a good brand. I love the Mac and cheese as a comfort food
Me too
@@ICONICPARIS 😊
More things than not by Stouffers are like the gourmet version of tv dinners. Nice to have some options though.
@TOM To each his own.
I always buy Amy's lasagna for my mom. Organic ingredients all the way. Most of other frozen entrees have tons of chemicals.
You forgot Marie Callender’s chicken pot pie
Birds eye Voila frozen pastas are good!!
Zatarain's and Boston Market are my 2 favorites.
2:27 a little stank on my food never stopped me
I enjoy your videos but the music playing in the background is highly annoying
Music in the background is fine but your setup sounds like someone playing a cheap radio in the next room.
I often think it is just that but it sounds like it is in my other room and I have to pause the video to see if it is.
We had the Michael Angelo's eggplant parmigiana last week and it was really delicious.
Sounds like if its mac n cheese related you are good to go
I never have a craving for eggplant.
Now want Stouffer's lasagna.
I'm not sure why 260 calories, low protein, and low fat are the ideal here. It just means desperately wanting to snack an hour or two later.
Blake's Shepherds pie is so good, you wont miss work.
also not mentioned here banquet's macaroni and cheese with buffalo chicken bowl, for 2.50 at walmart its got 30 grams of protein and it is filling
YES YES! My new favorite! I love it. Devour has a similar dinner but its too thick or something for me. I love the Banquet version.
Seriously... atkins chicken margherita is really good and guilt free. I lost 40 pounds eating these for dinner every night. Grate some fresh parmesan and you’re in for a treat
I might try it. Thanks for the tip.
I would never buy mariecallender food
They ate loaded with over 1000 grams of salt
M. CALLENDER IS HEART ATTACK FOOD.
Yuck, that's way to much salt for anyone! Thanks, for reminding me of that.
A thousand grams is over over two pounds
I like Marie Callender chicken burrito bowl and lean cuisine spinach mushroom flatbread pizza
The absolute best frozen dinners were Swanson “Le Menu”. Nothing can come even close. Admittedly they were expensive
but you also got a reusable plate. I sure miss them.
Any good keto frozen meals?
What group did they do this for??
You obviously haven't taken the sodium content into account when deciding which meals to go with. Marie Callender's meals for one have very high sodium counts. Put them back on the shelves and go for something healthier (between 300 and 600 mg preferably).
Stouffers frozen meals have gotten alot better over the years.
I'm not buying anything from a company that calls itself evol.
Michael Angelos is the best
Sttoufer's Red Box Lazagna is dependeble food.
Michael Angelo’s is by far the best in the freezer
AMY'S CHEESE ENCHILADAS IS NOT GOOD. I tried a box today based on another Mashed video I saw just last night. It was one of the worst frozen meals I have ever had. My canine ate most of it because I did not want any more of it after just two bites.
Not mentioned are Nighthawk TV dinners
Amy’s meals- most any of them especially the cheese enchiladas. Only problem is the servings are too small for most men. Love Mrs’ Budd’s Chicken pot pie but can’t find it currently. Marie Callender’s fruit cobbler is the bomb. Especially hot with a scoop of ice cream on top.
Stouffer‘s vegetable lasagna is 10 times better than the meat sauce and I pretty much don’t like vegetable anything Over me ever. The veggie lasagna taste so good if people didn’t see the box still ask you for the recipe
My favorite frozen food, ever. probably over thirty years since i've had it, forgot all about it. Thanks so much for refreshing my memory.
Agreed
@@lizzie7223 I haven't had it for a while either, but it is delish
I never had a frozen dinner that was good for the body because of its high sodium. I bought frozen hamburger patties not too long ago, it tasted ok for awhile until I decided to eat the patty without the bun and the taste of the high sodium woke me up. I threw them away after that.
