      @@Sky1 My go-to pizzas are Tony's, Newman's Own or Tombstone. Red Barron isn't bad either. Usually I add oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper and I'll add a few pieces of hand sliced stick pepperoni... the kind that curls up when you cook it. I bake for an extra couple of mins so the stick pepperoni is just starting to burn on the edges. Not great for you but, absolutely delicious!!!

The four-cheese pizza is the ONLY frozen pizza I've ever had that does not need extra mozzarella cheese added to it (actually, any of their pizzas). @jjbud3124 2 года назад +5

      A "real" pizza is made from flour, water, yeast, salt, spices, tomatoes, cheese, with vegetable and meat toppings. No reason to add anything else except to improve flavor of something that's not fresh, increase the shelf life, or improve texture, etc. The only reason to add anything is to make up for what's lacking in the original recipe. Given the choice, plain ingredients every time - that way you know you've actually gotten a good or bad pizza and your taste buds haven't been fooled by chemical additives.

    • @JETZcorp
      @JETZcorp 2 года назад +1

      @@jjbud3124 That's not necessarily true. There are lots of food science ingredients that do things like create smoother melting, promote emulsion, moisten baked goods, etc. For example, if you want to make smooth stovetop style macaroni and cheese, you will need to add something like sodium citrate. In other cases, the ingredient you see will be the active flavor compound from something you'd normally recognize, but they use the compound alone to create consistency or avoid other flavors they aren't after. MSG is a classic example, where you're after umami flavor but don't want natural sources like tomato or parmesan or seaweed in your recipe. The uses you cite are valid and common as well, but they add unfamiliar sounding things for culinary reasons as well.

      I seldom would buy frozen pizza because I was almost always disappointed until I bought a Motor City pizza! Comes in it’s own baking tray so your oven doesn’t get dirty or dirtier, the toppings are plentiful and the flavors are delicious. The pizza inside the box looks like what’s pictured on the box, whereas many pizzas have no resemblance to what’s inside which is why we stopped buying
      Freschetta pizza which we at one time enjoyed when the actual pizza did look like what was on the box and the flavor was delicious.
      To be honest I haven’t tried all that many frozen pizzas since delivery of good pizzas only takes minutes, generally cost more but is worth it. So Motor City gets my vote, with one exception, the cheese one just tastes like cheese bread and should come with dipping sauce, which it doesn’t, so have some RAO’S on hand.

    It amazes me that Mashed and I agree on the BEST frozen pizza; Newman's Own. Especially that they use un-cured meats (fewer nitrates involved).

    Totino’s Party Pizza was my favorite in my youth (1980-1990’s). Somewhere over time, they must have substituted everything that was real to maintain their price point. I tried some recently. I could not finish it. And I had added extra cheese, pepperoni, Italian seasoning. Their “cheese” would not melt. Upon reading the ingredients I noticed that it is not cheese! Now I just make my pizzas from scratch like my mom did.

Dad comes home from work...3rd shift I think. My sis and I vwake up and rush downstairs to raid his lunch box. He always brought home a snack from the vending machine at work for us... only on Friday/the Weekend.😌. Sweet memories ❣️

    Home Run Inn: after you take it out of the oven you need to give it the frying pan treatment to get the crust crispy. Once you do that, it's excellent.

    When my local store carried them, I used to really like the 9 inch Wild Mike's pizza. They put a packet of Italian seasoning and a packet of red peppers in each package, and I thought they were really good. Now, the local store only carries the HUGE 2+ pound pizzas from them, and since I live alone, a lot of it would go to waste.
